Everyone knows what it's like to comb through the forums on a new device to find ROMs, kernels, apps and all the other customizations that come out of the community.
It's a mixed bag! It's satisfying when you do find something that really appeals to you, but it's also frustrating because a forum just simply isn't the best platform to show off a lot of the modifications we use. A lot of great content, be it wallpapers, icon packs, themes or even homescreens get lost in a sea of text lists, acronyms and giant threads
So we've come up with a way we think will help better promote, organize and support independent development in our community.
It's called XDA Feed!
Each device is supported by the community! You can contribute links to your favorite ROM, Kernel, Wallpaper, Thread, Homescreen, Icon Pack, Video or Article and help support your device with content.
Features
Browse, view, download and share the best content on XDA for your device!
Custom built in Download Manager supports resuming cancelled/failed downloads
Filter out content you're not interested in
Star content you're interested in to look at later
Granular notification control: opt out entirely, batch notifications to certain time intervals and specify which content you want to see updates from
Dark theme
Suggest content for your (and any!) device
Leaderboard that shows top contributors!
Contribute!
Did you know Feed content comes from the community? Find the 'Suggest to Feed' links in the app or visit https://feed.xda-developers.com and suggest a link to see that item show up in Feed!

FAQ
Q: Why does this app exist?
We all know there is a ton of cool stuff you can do to your phone, but navigating the XDA forums to find it all can be a bit daunting. This app is a curated "feed" of all that stuff you wish you knew about, so you don't miss anything.
Q: Wait a sec...why are there multiple versions of Feed?
This is deprecated and per-device builds will be removed soon. Make sure to grab the all devices version for the latest & quickest updates.
Q: Why not just integrate this into XDA Labs?
We wanted to separate the functionality of Feed because we have some very cool stuff planned for it. You'll see!
General Limitations
Download History only shows items actually downloaded by Feed itself. Due to the Play Store TOS, this means Apps and Icon Packs are linked to and as such won't show up in Download history. We're not opposed to still including those downloads in the history, they just aren't there at the moment.

Roadmap and changes

Be sure to read all the OP posts to reduce duplicate questions! Hope you guys like this app and like I mention in the OP will hopefully be rolling this out to more devices in the near future! <3

You did it once again!! Thank you! Looks awesome :good::good:

Just want to thank the one and only @blk_jack for his efforts with this app. It was many months in the making! Also credit to @rwestergren for his fancy server work. :highfive:

Make it for all devices or not make it at all! Yes i have read it's for all,but headline oneplus3,most popular!? U all have seems have forgoten how and why this site started, htc, sammy and some more devices have way more reasons to be first one,or even mentioned! They are here for over 10 years as i know, this is so not xda i know. Sorry for first post in tread like this, but u all out there are keep forgetting where and why all started.

Like mentioned in the news post, OP, etc, this is a beta release and we're specifically targeting two devices. Unlike other apps, this app is literally a curated feed of content for the OnePlus 3/3T. Yes, there's content all devices can use, but the backend data right now is largely manual and can't be done for every device automatically.
As we work on the app and grow in terms of features, usability, stability, etc, we'll also work on automating more and more parts of the backend to be able to include all devices.
This is the type of app I want to see for my device (and for the record I don't own a OP3/3T), but we can't get there for all devices over night. This is the first device supported and while you may not benefit from it, there are hundreds of thousands of users who can.
Using your logic, a ROM would be pointless if it didn't exist for every device. Certain ROMs and kernels exist for specific devices and that's the way XDA has always been. This is that in app form.

No,my logic do not say rom should exist for every device,do not please turn my logic over. Simple,i think there are devices and manufactures who deserves more from u,from xda,not to follow only popular ones at the moment, there are devices that in way helped to build this site and i think u need to give deserved atenttion to them, that's my point, not that app needs to be on start for all devices,i know that needs a lot of work. Please sir do not bend my words, thanks, and that is all here from me. All the best with this work.

You said "Make it for all devices or not make it at all". Imagine if I went to a PureNexus ROM thread for the Pixel and said that because they didn't support my Sony Xperia Z3 Compact?
The fact of the matter is that unlike HTC or Samsung, OnePlus has actively reached out to the community in ways very few OEMs have these days (or ever, for that matter). The site may have been started to largely support HTC devices, but HTC has done very little to support our community and their efforts seem to only be decreasing! I say this as a longtime HTC owner who maintained ROMs for HTC devices for years.
I'm going to drop this line of conversation now, but I needed to address the point. It makes sense for XDA to target their largest base of users first -- many of whom own the devices specifically because of the efforts OnePlus has made to engage and support our community.

@blk_jack Telegram channel doesn't seem to be chatty Have you finally gave up on IRC and jumped on Telegram boat? Congrats with new app tho

The OP makes an app for a device he owns thats how it works, he is under no obligation to make anything for any device. I must say if you are requesting him to make it for your device it doesn't sound like a request but more like a demand which certainly isn't allowed on xda

If u new moderators or whatever wont to delete my posts feel free, but do not quote me without any need for that.

No one tried this app ? :-(
The main problem seems the number of application, you should focus on that if you want be a real marker alternative
Ps : bon courage sinon
It's not a problem, because this is not a release version ! The market doesn't exists at this time, no one can send an app. We are just building the website and application.
This week I was on holiday, so nothing really new. I've just starting integrating the application design. How do you feel about it ?
Though I wasn't here, the website has grow up, take a look : http://yaam.mobi
It looks nice! You might want to eliminate the splash screen though; speed is a necessity. Add an 'Already Downloaded' section above Category 1, Category 2, since it currently doesn't tell you what's been downloaded. And when you view a category, cache the apps available so it's not refreshing each time (Again, a speed issue).
And I forgot, an uninstall option [for apps].
Xlythe > Thanks for your report ! I removed splash screen.
Application update, with categories Applications/Games, and sub categories !
http://yaam.mobi/apk/yaam.apk
It's a very nice app :]
Edit: The update o_o Wow.
for developing paid apps
will yaam take a percentage of the profit on items sold similar to apple's store?
No, developers will receive all the price of his application.
But YAAM is going to take a percent when users send money on their YAAM account.
very good idea
Very good idea.
Make sure you implement "filtering" that can be customized by user and SAVED.
For example: I want to filter out "wallpaper" or "sexy" from app title list.
Then I wont see those apps.
Filter on:
- App Title
- App Author
That would be awesome.

love the idea of savable filters, i hate seeing all the themes/clocks/"sexy" picture apps all the time. maybe have categories apps/games/themes, so all the wallpaper, theme, sound, clock apps could stay out of the app column
Hi,
Some News about YAAM : It's growing very fast since it official launch, we are about at 60 applications, 70 developers, and... 2 600 users ! And we are planning a partnership with a big SD cards society
Already waiting for YOUR applications
If you don't mind, I'll place the info about your app at russian PDA community's forum. I think, russian developers and users will be glad to have one more alternative to Market. Your project is awesome!
My feature request list
Great app, hope you continue supporting it and keep implementing user-requested features, like:
1) Meta-market: Automatically aggregate apps from the official Market and other alternative markets. There are so many advantages to this that I think this feature should be your first priority. The main advantage is of course, users need not have to install a dozen alternative-market applications and developers need not have to submit to all the markets. Of course, a user might not be able to pay for a third-market app directly, so pressing the install/purchase button can open up the respective market app/URL.
2) User comments + moderation + karma : similar to system used by Slashdot:
Moderation is really needed because sometimes stupid users rate an app 1 star just because they didn't understand how to use it (for eg, themes/addons), and it unfairly brings down the rating of the app. Moderation allows such comments/feedback to be automatically hidden and not count towards the final app rating. It also allows for a karma system. It's useful because karma allows people to trust a particular user's reviews. Users having negative karma will not be able to vote on other's comments. Users with sufficient positive karma have voting rights. Users with very high karma can be promoted to moderators, thus having the ability to clean up unfair comments / votes.
IMO you could implement the voting system this way: When a user posts a comment, positive karma users can vote whether that comment was Useful, Neutral, Inaccurate, and Spam.
'Useful' comments earn positive karma. These are comments that help people whether to install this app or not, and see what are the features/limitations. For example: "This app worked great for me, but could use some improvements. Pros: blah, blah, blah. Cons: blah, blah, blah".
'Neutral' comments don't count towards the karma. These comments aren't very useful. They're still nice to have around though. For example: "Nice app, thanks".
'Inaccurate' comments earn negative karma. The rating associated with it will not count towards the final rating of the app. These comments will be visible in the comments list but hidden by default. (Like in Digg or Slashdot)
For example: "Doesn't work.". ("Um, yes it does, it's a widget!")
'Spam' is of course, off-topic comments. If a comment gets too many 'Spam' votes, it will be removed. Repeat offenders will be automatically banned.
3) Allow the author to reply to user comments. The reply should be made visible under the respective comment. These comments would be useful for both the author, as a way to tell their side of the story, and as a user, to see that the author is actively involved with the program. For example: "Thanks for the report, will be fixed in next version". or "It's an addon, you have to install xyz program first")
4) Stricter rating system - Don't allow users who are rating 1 or 2 stars to submit the rating without typing a comment. The developer and other users deserve to know the reason behind such a low rating. You can have a multiple-selection list like:
- It didn't work for me at all
- It didn't have the features I needed
- It's not up to the standards
- It didn't have the advertised features
- It's defective
- It's malicious
- Other
And at the end of the list add a text field so that users can type their comment there.
This feature, combined with feature #2 should allow for better screening of apps and ratings, without any intervention needed from you guys or the app developers.
5) Searching: Allow the user to search by author, app name, description, category, date.
Also, please allow standard search operators like AND (&), OR (|), NOT (-) , and exact ("").
6) Sorting: Sort by date, title, author, size, rating, downloads (popularity), category
7) Filtering: Exactly what gogol said. Also, by default, please make it such that adult apps are hidden. Finally, implement a sever-side filter for really annoying and possibly harmful spam comments like ("www.blahblahblah.net $9.99 a year! All paid apps! We have them all!"). These sort of comments shouldn't even be allowed to be posted.
8) Highlight new apps. Maybe use a different color, or a 'New' tag.
9) Please include the version number and date in the app's details.
10) 'Confirm Password' field should be added to the 'Create Account' screen. (This is present on the website, but why has this not been added to the app?)
11) Some improvements can be made to the registration (fix the grammar and typos in the email) to make it look a bit more professional. Also, one should not be able to register without clicking on a confirmation link. This is necessary, otherwise people will be able to use any random email address to register an account. (If they did want to use a random email, they're free to use spam.la, mailinator, etc...)
An example welcome email (based on the one sent by phpBB):
"Welcome to YAAM, an alternative Android Market!"
Please keep this e-mail for your records. Your account information is as
follows:
----------------------------
Username:
Profile URL:
----------------------------
Please visit the following link in order to activate your account:
http://yaam.mobi/register.php?mode=activate&u=#####&k=XXXXXXXXX
Your password has been securely stored in our database and cannot be
retrieved. In the event that it is forgotten, you will be able to reset it
using the email address associated with your account.
Thank you for registering.
Best regards,
The YAAM team."
12) Website improvements - I understand it's still under construction, but when it's done, could you add these features:
- Allowing direct download of apk file (using 'http://', so that users can download apps using a different device)
- Link to user profile showing the user's most recent reviews, their karma, and optional user-editable fields like avatar, device, location, etc.
13) Please make a roadmap and display it in the first post and/or on your website, so that we know the current status of YAAM.
14) Facebook and Twitter buttons on an app's page
I understand the above list may seem daunting, but without atleast half of the features implemented, I see no advantage in using YAAM. But consider this fact - YAAM has very little competition. We all know Google's going to take ages to implement all this. You already have a base. All you need to do is keep implementing the features regularly to make YAAM the de-facto in the Android Market scene.
---
Btw, does anyone else find the phrase "YAAM Market" a bit silly? Because when you expand it, it reads as "Yet Another Alternative Market Market" It's just one of those phrases you know, like "NIC Card", "LAN network", "USB bus"...
Hi,
I've fallen in love with your message deXter
I'll check every features, and try to implement its as soon as I can !
this looks cool! i hate the regular marketplace...
I think you've got a very good setup here, and some of the suggestions in this thread will only make it greater.
The main gripe for me with the existing market besides the below bar category system, and lack of filters, has been the fact that I would have to use Google checkout. I know Google know just about everything about us already, but I have and use Paypal, and was hoping to be able to use it for apps. If you are offering this with YAAM, thats already a big plus for me.
I have to agree with others regarding the number of applications currently available, but I will continue to follow this apps development. Perhaps there could be a way to browse the existing market using your app, and offer different methods of payment etc whilst nabbing a bit for its development? I dont know. I realise this would increase the potential costs for every application.
Hi,
Since last post, things have changed. I've released some weeks ago a new YAAM version, recoded from scratch version of application and website!
YAAM currently represents about 23.000 users and 400 applications.

° No description limit
° Up to 6 screens
° HTML formating in descriptions
° Developers receive 100% of application price (minus Paypal fees)

Good, happy to hear that.

Haha, I will do so in todays update.
Really love this app sir and already gave 5 star on play store.
Looks awesome on both phones and tablets, really nice design. 5 stars
BTW, can you update the app icon, looks quite blurry on high res screen
Thank you guys, i tried to let the app look a bit like our loved Play Store.
I have a suggestion, dunno if its easily executable or not but here is what I imagined:
I'm a flashaholic, because since I don't know how to program android, as much as I would love to learn, I like to give back to the community by bug reporting and helping early or newborn roms to grow, (I'm a volunteer guinea pig in other words).
With that in mind it'd be great if the app could have a Rom Development News section where teams like PA, Carbon, CM and etc could update people about new rom developments and releases.
I go through XDA jumping from thread to thread to get that kind of information when I have free time to test new roms or builds and its an extenuating task.
To have it all in one place would simply be AMAZING!!
Also to avoid excess information and clutter integrate a filtering system that filters your updates/RomNews by Phone(s) model (either automatically or manually) and the ability to select your Roms of interest from an list of available devs/teams! I saw a kind of similar feature on the ROM Toolbox app, but it is not updated at all (last time I checked).
I'll leave a pic bellow.
Just a suggestion, unfortunately I don't have the knowledge required or I'd go for it, it'd be my first app!
Nonetheless, loved your app, found it very very useful! Thank you for your hard work!

Hi, do you mean like a own news section for ROMS? Like reading the rss feeds of cyanogenmod, paranoid etc?
I think thats a great idea too!
Fantastic app! However, is it (or could it be made to be) possible to see the sources in the feed items? As it stands, I can see the article titles, preview text, time/date stamps, preview image and comments count, but nothing about where the article actually originated. Otherwise, this is great!

Will add some of them. I had thought of adding all of them initially but it would result in flooding with the same piece of news from various sites. It defeats the purpose and increases data usage, needs more space, etc.
But still might add in a couple of them as they offer breaking and exclusive news.

Please add these two options in this priority order:
1) The ability to include or exclude feeds from the built in list (checkbox UI)
2) The ability to add your own feed url. You will likely need to specify supported content requirements.
Thanks for considering my requests.

I really thank you dev I followed you from the other thread about flowly. Thanks for putting this together. I'd definitely look at the sources in flowly because those are the a lot of the main android sources. Like someone posted above the ability to add or turn off feeds individually would be awesome. I know you're working with the appyet format so I don't know it's limitations but those would be the suggestions I have. A working replacement for flowly. Regardless thanks for putting this together.

The ability to turn off feeds is under development I believe.
I did not want the app to be flooded with the same news over and over again. The IFA 2014 week has started and if a new mobile comes out it will be reported in all Android sites and my app will have the same news over and over again! Anyways I will release an update later in the week to add more Android sources.
Guys please click on the Thanks button and more importantly give our honest reviews at the play store.
Also spread the word, I have only 20+ downloads.
I love the way this app operates. The original Flowly was best tho, I ordered pro to get more themes but was obviously ripped off. This app is nice, but I agree with everyone that there isn't enough feeds. It wasn't flooded with redundant information, and not only that, but all the sites do different phone reviews and such. I waited a month and a half for my Note 4, so watching everyones review/hands on videos helped. Going to uninstall for now, let us know if you add more feeds.
Thanks for this, I also came from flowly. I would also like to ask for the ability to choose/unchoose feeds, and the option to add your own.

[APP] Latest News [28.10.2017]

Hi all,
I've made a super simple app for reading news using news-api. It shows sources (groupped by categories). So in short, app can:
Add xml feeds sources to the app
Show each source latest news
Show a preview of news (with basic Share and Open in browser options)
Tries to fetch the full content of the news including images
Show latest news of Favorite sourcess
Shows you a bookmarked list or articles
Download on Google Play Store: Latest News

TODO:
optimization everything for the tablet devices

Thank you for being an alpha tester. Please keep in mind that...
I'm opened for requests/ideas
I'll even fix any bugs you find!
Will change the name of the app to something better, since "latest news" will return at least 3029482093480 items when using search on google play store.

Gregor :good:
Rollout of new release has started:
Version 0.0.1 build 6
- Improved speed of scrolling in Favorites list and News of Source
- Implemented the grabber system which fetches the whole article and parse possible text of article including images (this is alpha of alpha app!)

Another huge update being rolled out today: Custom feeds!
There's been lots of refactoring, small fixes and improvements, but the biggest thing is finally implemented. Adding custom feeds. Just add the url of the news page or direct feed url (example http://www.cbc.ca/news), select a category and hope for the best!
Feel free to report any bugs you find.
After some release-break, here's yet another one. This has been an amazing month with a-lot of effort going towards development. Started as a simple newsapi client, I've got a few requests for which, I was sure it will take a while to implement them all. Since today, Latest News includes:
- a superb wizard just to remind you its beginner friendly,
- revamped source adding, which doesn't relly on newsapi anymore but uses own methods to fetch xml feeds and parse the data,
- super awesome grabber(tm), which downloads and parses the whole article from the websites, removes everything except the text story and images.
- an awesome back-end synchronization, which makes sure, your sources are always safe,
- and increadible new and redesigned menu (yea, this deserves a place on the list too!) and extra animations
It has been an awesome month.
Now, its up to people to start using it
Another update has been pushed to beta channel:
- added feeds Gruenderszene, NBA, JS weekly, Android Police, XDA-developers, Mac Rumors
- update sync so it will now handle a conflict between different remote/local entries; you will now have options to overwrite local, db or merge both,
- added read flag to article after it has been read.
- fixed the issue with images not being overwritten after refreshing the articles
- fixed the width of items which text isn't long,
- synchronizing favorites should now also work better
Enjoy!
Hi everyone! I'm happy to announce the first PRODUCTION release being rolled out.
Enjoy and don't forget to submit any bugs you find or feeds suggestions you would like to see in the app.

Wow the app is really cool. I will give it a try for a few days and see what It can do.
Just a question: can you add a way to login using Google account? There's a lot of passwords to remember and using Google is much better, with synchronization is superb.
PS: If you need someone to help you translating to portuguese let me know.
Finally an app that allows me read short rss feeds in full. Loves it. Please any plans for an import feature so I can import my feedly subscriptions? Thanks
plans to add to XDA labs or f droid?

good evening @sourbear and thank you for your report. Just for test, please try adding "neowin". There are A LOT of sources, that just don't add image as leading article image (default rss image for specific article). However, it just happened none of your picked up source articles currently dont include any images.
MTV, at that time, had images, I've tested it again and what you found is correct. (Shame on them! ). Give them all a day or two.... you will start seeing them eventually. :good:
math in blogs
This is a great news for me, as I have been using feedMe for some time, but it cannot display mathjax properly.
So, two questions, do you plan to add mathjax/mathml support, and offline support as well?? Right now I tried https://terrytao.wordpress.com/feed/ and the math is not shown properly. Some formulas appear too big, some don't appear at all. Thank you for your work @greglord

Hi there
I will take a look immediatelly what's going on with those formulas!
Update @gilcu3
Just checked the source of the article and... oh my So far, I've made the formulas visible, however, since there is so much mixing between paragraphs and images (formulas), the "grabber" does not add texts to the full story. I humby ask for re-test after new update. If the content isn't something that suits you, I will invest more time and refactor the grabber to be more smart.

App Suggestion Help Make the XDA App Better, Join our Beta Team

Several months ago, XDA announced the new XDA app, built from the ground-up to be speedy and support many of the great features present in our new forum software, plus offer a range of personalization options like swipe gesture customization and more.
While the new app has a lot of great features that many are really liking, overall, the response to the new app has been rather mixed, and some people are frustrated with how it functions, plus there are still some bugs. But we want to make the app massively better and we need your help!
XDA is looking for enthusiastic members of the forums to be a part of our XDA App Taskforce to help us find and kill bugs, beta test new features, and help us work on improvements. These members will have early access to the latest builds of the official XDA app. Members that join the taskforce will be able to use an exclusive Discord server, where you can chat with other members in real-time, plus anyone accepted into the Taskforce will get ad-free XDA for life plus a special badge in the forums.
The ideal candidate for the App Taskforce will be able to help find and report bugs in the app. You should be able to communicate in English and be an active user of the forums, plus it’s ideal if you have availability for occasional meetings. If you are interested in joining, just send me a DM using our forums to XDARoni and tell us briefly why you want to help out with the app.

Hello,
Any updates to the app?
Its been a bit silent for some time now.
Before we could see Newest Post 1st in threads, had the option to set that, why remove it
wish they get that option back & also Improve on Mobile App
Please
These are horrendous amount of trackers right there. As a FOSS & privacy focused user, I never recommend it for anyone. Just stick to the web api.
The old app was great. The new one is 10 steps in the wrong direction, IMO. It's borderline garbage. Navigation is terrible, organization is horrible and search functions are nearly useless. I'm trying to wrap my head around why anyone felt the need to "fix" something that wasn't even broken to begin with. What's the goal here, to confuse your users and create hurdles to finding and contributing information from and to the rest of the community? What the heck is going on here?

The old app was just not compatible with the new XenForo platform, this is why the app has changed. The app was not changed because it was broken, this is actually the site itself that was "broken" or more precisely too slow and too bloated with lots of custom devs and plugins. The old SITE was running under an old and obsolete version of vBulletin, highly bloated as I said. XDA needed to finally upgrade its site to a modern and fast platform (XenForo in our case). But yeah in my own opinion I have admit that the new app (not the site) is not really what we could expect but xda is always trying its best to improve things, the issue is that it needs money and a lot of time. Things usually take time to happen over there. XDA has a very small team.
That being said I heard some people will make their own xda app soon so hopefully it will be better than the official one in some aspects.

Thanks for the explanation. I appreciate it.
Unfortunately, we have to cope with this problem on android. I currently bookmarked the xda site with no app whatsoever. It feels bad to not get push notifications in time. But that's what it is. Caz I'm not to use this newer crappy xda app.
