'Best' is a highly misused term. There is no 'best' ROM. You'll have to try out a couple of them and then stick to the one you like best. As far as a suggestion is concerned, all the ROMs out there right now are pretty stable and have good performance and you shouldn't face any major problems. From my side, I'll suggest AOSP extended v4.0 or Official LineageOS.

I agree AOSP extended is best. Also best developer does this rom.

I find LineageOS to be sweet. It's the only rom I've flashed on the MG3, but I had a pretty good idea what I wanted as I have flashed many roms on many phones in the past. If you don't have such experience then I definitely agree with the idea of trying a few different ones to get a sense of what's out there in terms of stability, reliability, and support. But most of all, HAVE FUN!!!

You can use resurrection remix rom it's awesome

Aosp extended

Hello everyone
I tried many ROM : RR, AICP, LOS, AOSP Extended.... Now I'm trying Pure Nexus with BeansGapps Mini. This one have the essential, light, stable, good performance. I like RR a lot : many settings, stable and good performance too.
Try and choose

Lineage 14.1 with Greenify

You should try it out and see it for yourself. Different people have different opinion. My opinion Clean Rom and Clean kernel are the best. It's BUG free, extremely stable but yet give me excellent performance with excellent battery life, what else you could ask for??Also there is "dirty flash" where you can add-on bells and whistle (can request) which make it, the best. Other roms they have bugs which means you either keep flashing update or wait awhile before you can flash.

[Q] What kernel and rom do you use?

I was wondering what kernel and rom do you use in order to have a maximum performance on the device? I am looking for a new rom to have a better performance
I think slim Kat has the best performance, along with Agni kernel
Do you think its faster than CyanogenMod 11?
If we want to know what rom do the best max performance, do we have to try each rom to know which rom can bring max performance? or is there any link to show benchmark test for every rom available?
As long as the rom is working, stable and no bugs, i guess thats the best rom. Well at least thats for me.
Because each person have different usage and setting, apps and data, depend what do you put inside your gadget.
I use CM 11 and it works like a charm, but i'm not sure if its faster though.
Just my two cents,
I use @Android-Andi's SlimLP build. It is fast and smooth.

Hey there,
I'm using CM12 by Android-Andi at the moment, are there any big difference with the slimLP?
Besides less is more, dark theme or something that have been mention on every thread. I couldn't fine (yet) what's the real big deal using slimLP instead CM12. If it's faster, I'm not sure how to measure. If it's no lag and smooth, then CM12 has already too (at least for my needs).
If someone could mention something and have the experiences tried both roms and find the differences, please do let me know it.
Yes, you may say I should flash it bymyself to get the experiences, but to do clean install and re-download apps and adjust the setting for my preference are taking some times. I would thanks someone if could help.
Sorry if its too long. Thank you all. Cheers

I think SlimLP is a bit more smooth and lag free..I have tried both the roms on my tab and I prefer to use Slimrom
And it is better compaitable with the DHOLLMEN kernel

Of course it is smoother
For you it will be great as you're moving from daivik to art.
Its based on stock and lacks CM features but still a great stable rom..
Butter smooth

I am using @Android-Andi 's SlimLP rom and it is quite smooth and has practically no bugs and it is in such early stage of development

In my opinion...
Stock Marshmallow will offer you best stability.
CyanogenMod 13 is stable too and offers lots of features, you'll miss only moto display...
crDroid offers most customisation, you can try other ROMs like Dirty Unicorns, Resurrection Remix, AICP, Dominion OS, BrokenOS, Mokee...
Check ROM specifications and choose which suits best for you, Stability, more features, Resource friendly...
stock 5.1.1 runs better then 6.0.1
it's a pity
I used the stock rom for over a year but about a month ago i switched to cm13 because I wanted to try something new. I find that performance is so much better to the point that i decided to underclock my cpu to 1152mHz to save some battery. On stock 6.0.1 I had a lot of problems with the camera and torch gestures wich disappeared in cm13. As other users say Moto Display is better than ambient display but i don't miss it that much, and I think it's still a valid alternative.
RR
Resurrection Remix 5.7.3 vastal's build the best rom available for osprey
NB: None of the custom rom supports volte.
Only stock rom supports volte
CM13 works solid.
Best in terms of what? I mean, even the Nobel prize has variants (peace, science etc.)
And even then, you can't find best among all, you will have to try each one, then pick your choice. Nobody can tell you what your favorite snack is. That's my point, mate.
Broadcasted from Zeta Reticuli
For me right now is the Fluid Dark. It is really fast and stable ROM. I updated some apps for myself now it is more updated.
you mean 'Liquid Dark', agree, nice stable rom with less bloat

Best rom moto g2015

What is the best rom for Moto G2015 in your opinion? In terms of performance, battery, etc...
Already used MIUI8, Ressurection Remix and I'm currently using AOSP Extended, for the time being I liked the most is Ressurection...
Ressurection Remix 6.0.1 22/9/2016
Ressurection Remix 7.1.1 29/3/2017
OMG!!! Do we really have to try to do this again?!?! Can't you just read through the dozen other threads like this?
Answer: THERE IS NO BEST ROM for any device... period. Only what is best for you, the only way to find out is try them. If anyone says XXXXXX is the best ROM, it is their opinion, some will agree and some will say it is garbage but YYYYYY ROM is the best.
Best battery: Stock
Best performance: Stock
Can you get a custom ROM to have better performance -OR- battery life, sure... Tweak the kernel a bit, but you won't get both better battery life and increased performance.
Motorola does lots of things wrong, but they know (or knew) how to optimize a ROM and kernel, the stock ROM has the best balance of battery life and performance, hands down. There is even a thread testing various kernels and ROM's (look, I'm not going to link it) and it proves it. There are some custom kernels that can get you a bit of boost one way or the other, but isn't significant.
Go here and you will see someone thinks every ROM is the best somewhere... https://forum.xda-developers.com/2015-moto-g/general/daily-driver-rom-osprey-discussion-t3333513

[Discussion] When do you think the custom roms will surpass miui?

i think right now there's no real custom rom that surpasses miui in performance or battery life, i honestly hate miui but every other rom i go to is worse in (only) these two category's,
do you think custom roms will surpass miui eventually?
also this is from my experiences so far so if you have a suggestion for a rom or a rom+kernel combo i'd like to hear them (and try them).
really ????????????
Yeah same like me .. i unlocked bootloader and rooted my poco
And i downloaded all custom roms .. but all have problems .. and i hope rom one ui complete cus .. just this rom will be good like miui .. cus i already trying the miui one ui . But not finished... And i try all kernels .. all charge battery very slowly.. not like miui .. fast charge real ..and i trying the mod XASP and this not working on miui 9.5.23 .. please if u found something new or good like charge faster .. and keeping battery .. will be good ... Thanks... And i sorry for my language
Mi-globe's ROM Builder is great for putting together a fairly debloated MIUI. I get the best performance and battery life with this rom, hands down.
As far as non-miui custom ROMs, PE CAF + Stock MIUI kernel, and the latest vendor/firmware is the best combo that I've found.
Next to PE CAF I like Havoc + Canting Kernel as well.

How can I find the stock kernel to flash it on pe caf? I like the rom but i'm getting low SoT on warp kernel
You are right about the battery and it's understandable that it wouldn't be that great on many custom ROMs due to the nature of MIUI to kill/restrict background apps or don't let them autostart by default.
But performance wise, I played PUBG on MIUI and I was devastated by how it performs, forget the benchmarks, they are all pumped on MIUI, but still getting better benchmark score and very very smooth gameplay on OxygenOS+eXtremeKernel. I tried going back to Stock MIUI after GameBoost was said to be improved, but it was not up to the mark in any way.
I used to run Official LOS and had fluid performance and decent battery combo on FrancoKernel before this and would get back as soon as I stop playing games
Edit: LOS+FK is more stable if you are not into games, and you should definitely give it a try. You can use Performance Profiles of FK Kernel Manager(paid app, worth it) to get more battery when needed.
Edit2: Just read the original developer's tweet in eXtreme Kernel thread, going to ditch this, OOS default kernel is also better.

yeah, i tried LOS with franco and battery-wise LOS was better with it's stock kernel for me, but idk why i don't really like LOS, so far the best Roms i tried and liked were crdroid nitrogen and PE right now im using miui eu

If you like the MIUI flavor, you can stick to stock and debloat it. If you liked PE, you would love LOS along with Pix3lify Magisk Module and some other mods, as this makes it the same with greater performance.
I think I'll try PE with the stock miui kernel don't really want to use magisk because some games I play block it

i'll try, so far i did an antutu benchmark and got a score of 280000 which is decent tbh, i'll try to update about battery life tomorrow, im using this kernel - kernel-beryllium_global_9.5.20-ak2.zip.
I have the same feeling. I have tried almost all custom ROMs on Poco F1, but never got the same level of performance that I get from Miui. And no, I am not a Miui fanboy. Infact this is the first time I am using miui and I just hate it for the amount of bloatware it comes with. I am saving money and as soon as I have enough, I will ditch this device and go for Samsung Galaxy S10e or OnePlus 7 pro.

well i plan to use this device for around 2-3 years so i hope custom roms will get better.
well after using it for a bit the stock kernel doesn't work well for me at PE, idk why but im assuming it just works better with MIUI, im on MALAKAS KERNEL for now.
In my case, the performance only went up, when I'm using custom ROMs. I'm using CrDroid now, which is a hella lot smoother and performs way better than MIUI ever did, I didn't notice a huge battery impact. On MIUI I was using my phone for 2 days before charging, same goes for this custom ROM. My main concern with MIUI were it's features, like the hide notch function was removed in pie, and little things like that, that pi*sed me off.

It is not removed. Just a missing function in 10.2.3. Update to the global latest stable of MIUI, you'll get that option.
