As we are currently getting latest official 4.4.2 update to our beloved Note 8.0 tablet,
I thought I should start a new fresh threads for ported apps from other Samsung devices (such as S5, S4, Note3, etc) that may work well on our Note 8.0 4.4.2.
Please note that because each Samsung devices has different DPI resolution, different specs, some ported apps may not look good or may get FCs on Note 8 tablet, so play around with DPI change using App Setting Xposed.
This thread most likely act as a Repository Ported Apps. I can't really promise you that I will keep update the list daily or even weekly, but I will try my best to keep it up.
Most of ported apps listed below only works with Samsung + KitKat (4.3/4.4.2) Touchwiz + Deodexed ROMs combination.
Some ported apps can be installed as normal apk file, but some requires to push either System\app or System\priv-app folder, along with required libs, framework jar files, etc.. thus require root. Please note that; some ported app(s) provided as flashable zip file, but some are not, so make sure you read instruction before you post the question here in this thread.
Please don't make any requests to me to port an app, as I am extremely busy with work and family, however if I can, I will try to help whenever possible. In addition please check download links, which linked to original ported app thread that where ported app resides, where you should see additional install instructions there.

nice topic please anyone install or flash any ported app or mod for other devices like s3/ note2/3 report in the topic if it worked with him or no
hmmm... most of this wont work on our device since we have a different framework & dpi size... i have test mostly all of it... but some will work fine... so if you guys wanna use it on your device, please make a nandroid backup of your current system using custom recovery so you can restore when you screw up something.
Anyway to support OP effort... i gave you this... a functional SNote 3 port tested from note 10.1 thread (thank to them that we can get this). but i mix and match this one so it work fine on our note 8.0. what i mean by functional... it got ideasketch and other function like old snote. I have test this on deodexed system.
How to install it.
1. you need to be root so you can delete the old Snote. It wont work if both exist.
2. goto recovery and flash the zip.
that's all. oh anyway... there is also scrapbook in the zip as well.
Download.

So having upgraded my n5110 to 4.4.2 and rooted it, I'm interested in trying some of the apps. I see in the original post some apps are to be deleted and the new version copied in. Is there a recommened tool or method for doing this? I'm a rooting newb
OK have had some time to learn about this tonight. I was able to use Heimdall to install Philz recovery.img onto my n5110 using my Mac. From there I can install the .zip file after I copied it onto my SD card.
The S-Note3 edan1979 made up works well and the covert written text feature is nice. Works very well even with my horrific handwritting.
Has anyone tried a new S-Planner?

Don't delete old version, just copy it to your SD Card or somewhere or just rename the file, in case something does not work, you can always revert it back to original.
if it is flashable zip, make a full backup, then flash it, if something goes wrong, you can always restore it back.

Rom Feedback
Hey this new Rom has real good animations and stuff and i really liked the material theme and the sounds. But just some issues i found, removing which this Rom would be one of the best roms.:good:
I saw that the camera issue is fixed but now it shows two camera's and gallery's which doesnt look appropriate, I dont know the reason for it.
Secondly an R icon is always showing on my network bars which shows that i am in roaming but i am not! and it doesnt allow me to start the internet till i check the allow internet on roaming. This is certainly a big issue .
The browser icon is changed to google chrome which makes it very confusing coz i have both installed.
And the last not such big issue but still i cant access voice unlock in the settings. it says settings stopped after i press on it.:cyclops:
thank you
regards,
Abhishek
Roaming Bug in rom
Just wanted to tell you that i could remove the roaming bug from my phone by disabling the 3G in settings.
So the 3G bug is not completely fixed i guess.

That's surely the right way!
If you change directly SystemUi.apk with a root explorer, your device becomes instantly unusable, you can't even change permissions.
At least, it's my experience with other devices.

Yup. Usually modifying critical files on the /system partition is best in the twrp recovery file manager to avoid crashes and malfunctions and all that other craZy stuff.

Howto install any .apk as system app on 7.0 and 7.1 ?!

On android 7.x moving to system/apps doesn't do anything.
After a reboot 7.x never shows the rebuilding ART dialogs we're used to so something has totally changed.
All the guides I could find so far are 2012 to 2014-ish and don't work.

How To Guide Install any custom font - Works with One UI 4.1

In this guide I'm gonna show you how to install any custom fonts you like in your Samsung Galaxy device WITHOUT ROOT. It works in all One UI (Android) versions; even in One UI 4.1!
ALL CREDITS TO @sathishtony 's #mono_ app and @__TrungDK__ 's method!
• #mono_ version 2.1 [NO-ROOT] ➜ https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...v2-1-for-samsung-oneui-1-2-3-no-root.4195613/
• __TrungDK__'s thread ➜ https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...r-android-10-oneui-2-5-samsung-phone.4203153/
Video tutorial:
Steps to follow (updated in 2022):
1. Make sure you are signed in into your Samsung Account.
2. Download and install #mono_ v2.1.
3. Launch #mono_ and allow the permissions it asks.
4. Install Samsung Sans through the #mono_ app.
5. Change your device's font to Samsung Sans.
6. At your phone's Settings, go to "Accounts and backup" and then to "Back up data" under Samsung Cloud.
──
6.5. If you can't find the Back up/Restore options due to carriers hiding them:
I. Download Activity Launcher from the Play Store.
II. In the search field you type "Cloud".
III. In the Samsung Cloud submenu you will find the Back up/Restore options.
──
7. Select only "Settings" and back them up.
8. Move your custom fonts to the "ttf" subfolder inside the "monofonts" folder (Internal Storage►monofonts►ttf).
8.5. If your font is not a ".ttf" font, then you may convert it using any online tool.
9. Go back to #mono_ and tap on "Load TTF". Select the font you want to change to.
10. Under the "Load TTF" button, tap on "Install". Uninstall Samsung Sans.
11. Tap again on the same "Install" button. Install the "fake" Samsung Sans.
12. At your phone's Settings, go to "Accounts and backup" and then to "Restore data" under Samsung Cloud.
13. Select only "Settings" and restore it. Don't delete the backup.
14. Android will be tricked into thinking that it's applying again Samsung Sans but it will actually apply your custom font!
15. You may repeat this process from step 8 or 9, for every other font, now.

Nevermind, got it. Curious as to how you were able to find the exact file out of all of the disabled ones though.
What is the default font that came factory installed? How can we restore back to factory one?
anyone know how to get iOS emojis without breaking the normal font?
edit: zfont and the iOS emoji pack it comes with ended up working

How to create one apk with some font file (package with fonts)?
Like all in samsung store ( https://www.samsung.com/au/support/mobile-devices/download-different-font-on-my-samsung-phone/ )
it does not work any more, with one UI 5.1 and mono v2.1,because samsung has deleted the “Sumsung Sans” font in his own app store. so if we use this app and try to install other font,it will say "not support this font", f**k smasung.
June 5 2023 - Using S22 Ultra OneUI 5.1 with all latest software and latest security update, confirmed zFont 3 still works perfectly.
The only problem is if you debloated your system , you need to rebloat it in order to use the custom font trick through Samsung Cloud. Just learned that the only system application that is required during restore process to work is Bixby Settings (Installed and Enabled).
Works like a charm.
Edit: Can confirm the only system application that needs to be rebloated is Bixby Settings 'com.samsung.android.app.settings.bixby' .. must be installed and enabled.
