I go to flash a rom on my phone, and after the restart, the phone will hang at the 'touch pro' splash, where the rom info, in red, comes up on the bottom. The rom instructions specifically stated that it would hang for a minute, but i have left it there for e a while, and to no avail. I have restarted again, and once again, to no avail. Help?
Have you tried taking your battery out and back in? That has fixed this for me in the past (on two HTC devices, in fact).
i did, and it dont work. please dont tell me i ***ed my phone.
I am also having the exact same problem tried soft and hard reset but no luck till now.
my htc 3g touch felt down when it was opened, battery removed and it turned off
now it cannot boot
when im turning it on it starts and after some seconds it restarts
any way for fixing it ? something like re-install windows without need to boot?
its fully unlocked
i have done hard reset but nothing happened
You can't reinstall windows without booting.
And i doubt that if it got bumped a fresh installation would help. I'm sorry.
The problem is the following: suddenly the device froze, and I waited quite alot before pulling out the battery. After that it would not start: it showed the HTC logo, over a white background, then, a black background with a sound and that was it.
I triede to reset it contless times withh no succes.
So I went into bootloader and made a factory reset, it worked but again the phone froze completely. What do I do now?
Edit - new info: now sometimes it starts after it freezes, and sometimes I have to pull out the battery, something is definetely wrong here...
Have try to flash ruu

No, I haven't tried to flash any RUU, I'm on the original ROM.
No more frezes since last freeze last night an hour after i started this topic; I reinstalled some apps but not as much as before; hope I'm lucky and things stay like this....
Anyone else had problems similar to this?

Exactly the same thing happened to mine this morning - it froze during normal operation (after six weeks of perfect use) I had no response to hardware buttons or screen touches so I was forced to remove the battery in order to reboot it.
It then would boot but each time would stick at the white htc logo screen and then the screen would timeout.
I was dreading that I'd have to try a hard reset just after I'd finally set the phone up as I like it.
so I removed the sd card from the device and rebooted by removing the battery once again
the device then booted normally, so I did a controlled power off, replaced the sd card and it booted fine.
Thankfully all fine so far (two hours later) fingers crossed.
The application that I was using when the device hung was a streaming digital radio apps that was located on the sd card.

The absolutely same symptoms. DS hangs installing new app. Has carried it in service-center. Now I wait for diagnostics results
Did you try to remove the sd card?

For sure.
After the first hangup I have taken out the battery. Then DS hung again showing the HTC logo, over a white background. Then SIM has been removed. SIM were the first suspect. At the very first day of owning DS I have been forced to get new SIM card from mobile provider. Previous card was quite new, only one year old and works normally in Xperia X1i and other phones, but doesn't recognized in DS).
Finally, when I delivered phone in service-center, it was without the SIM and without SDHC cards, but all problems were the same.
Dare I ask was what was the application that you installed?

ReadItLater, but I think that it is simple coincidence. Phone wasn't started even when I managed to make factory reset (Volume Down+Power). After that phone wasn't launched any more.
Needed Hard Reset!
Removed. see duplicate post in more appropriately named thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1036835&page=3
Removing both cards solved it for me today
The frequency of the reboots on mine increased and today it crashed. Hard reset brings it to the white screen + htc logo but no further.
Tried with and without SIM Card, with and without SD card. The only way it will get past the white screen is with both cards removed but then of course, you get to the screen where it tells you to take insert a SIM Card. Doing so, turns the phone off again, but then (for me at least), it was OK to carry on with setting up the phone....which I am now doing...hope this isn't going to be a regular feature.
So far I've only got the stock ROM and nothing clever on it.

Blimey, thats doesn't sound good
This is the point where I had to perform my first hard reset to re-enable the device.
How many times has this happened to you now and in what timeframe? have you had to do a hard reset before now?
I'd consider getting a new replacement SIM card and even using a different SD card, just so that you can rule them both out of causing the problem and if it happens again then return the device and be confident that its at fault!
If you return the device currently the shop's bound to say that the problem is with SIM and/or SD!
I've had it about 2 months and the involuntary reboots must have happened about 8-10 times starting in a about week 2. A sort of partial reset happened about a week ago (wallpapers and app short cuts disappeared). Then the phone crashed today while dialling into voice mail (Vodafine UK), and rebooted into a black home screen that would report a com.<whatever> error if I tried to get into the settings, or run anything. It would let me power off, but the only way to invoke the hard reset was vol key down when powering up
Today has received the answer from the service center.
They didn't name the reason, but have told that it is a guarantee case. Have suggested to replace the motherboard.
HTC DESIRE S Factory reset doesnt work

did you flash a ROM? which one? did you wipe the phones partitions before the ROM flash via recovery?
Hi everyone,
My One S' screen has suddenly stopped responding to any touch. I've been running CM 11 M8 for almost 2 weeks.
The phone rebooted and after the reboot, the screen has stopped responding to any touch. The hardware buttons still work along with the soft keys. I tried clearing cache/wiping data/flashing another ROM but nothing seems to be solving the issue.
What are some other things I could try to fix this?
Any help will be appreciated! Thanks a lot.

I just got the same issue, have tried factory reset, changed from stock to CyanogenMod (stable 10.2) and nothing's worked... It was working yesterday normally, performed a reset (via the options menu) to sell the phone, after reboot it stopped working. Has someone found the solution to this issue?
Hello! I have a stock Android Lollipop 5.0.1 Nexus 5 and for the past week or so I have been experiencing a weird issue.
The device randomly crashes. By "crashes" I mean the screen goes black, but the backlight is still on (it's a lighted black). I can push the power button and it will turn completely black (locked) and if I push it once more it turns lighted black again.
To get the device back into usable state I have to keep the power button pressed until the phone resets. Sometimes I keep it pushed for a full minute and nothing happens, sometimes 10 seconds are enough. Sometimes it will go through the "Google" logo and then stay in the lighted black state until I finally manage to reboot it again. Sometimes it crashes again right after it boots up.
It's weird because a lot of the times it's ok throughout the day and then when I go out in the evening, I take it out of the pocket and I see it crashed. Sometimes it crashes while I actually use it.
Last night it started doing something else: instead of lighted black, the screen is filled with static noise. It doesn't move or anything, it's a still image. Today, when a crash like that occurred, the screen glitched first (random lines on the screen, some parts got moved, really weird). I will get some photos if it happens again.
The problem is that I can't identify what's causing it. There is no particular app or action that I do / use that triggers this. It also doesn't seem to be movement-based, as it sometimes happens while it's sitting still on a table.
I updated to 5.0.1 about a day before this started happening, but I'm still not sure if it's software or hardware-based.
I tried a factory reset and booting into safe mode, none of these helped. I will only consider flashing a custom ROM as a final resort, because I'm not sure if it voids the warranty.
PS: the device is still under warranty, but I'm away for the holidays and will be until the beginning of the next year. And I'd like to have a usable device, especially while I'll be on the road.

I have none of your issues, try booting the device in safe mode and see if the problems still occure. It must be a or multiple downloaded apps that are causing your issues. Or try a data factory reset and restore/download your apps one by one amd try to identify the culpritt.

I said in the post that I tried both of those things. The crash occurred seconds after booting in safe mode and factory reset did not help either.

Flashing the 5.0.1 factory image in fastboot should fix your issues. Or try flashing system.img first, maybe thats enough.
Same issues with my Nexus 5

I am experiencing SAME exactly issues in my N5 with 5.01 and 5.1 . EXACTLY... you are not alone
Seems a software problem (third party app ?) , started in 5.01 and now is in 5.1 , of course system and boot images where flashed with fastboot, so no solution using
Stock, Rooted, using Nova Launcher - Smartwatch 2 - Google Cardboard - Chromecast and many apps.
But started ..if memory helps .. after installing Cardboard 3D apps.
