Why can't I speed up how fast the notification LED blinks? - Mate 8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Even when using light manager pro app and settings the blink to "very fast" it still blinks slow for my notifications. Is there something in the system settings I'm missing? Never had a problem with any of my previous android phones.

Umm because there is no option .........

[REQ] Blink LED for notifications for more than 5 minutes

It's really bothersome on the EVO how LED notifications only flash for 5 minutes then stop. Would love an app that creates its own LED notification and flashes it indefinitely until viewed. I know there are other notification apps on the market, but I'd prefer one that doesn't try to create other notifications (in the bar, pop-up, etc.). Something that JUST does LED, so I can then turn LED off in Settings, would be preferable.
Also would be nice to disable the LED while charging, or to be able to interrupt it, but I have a feeling this couldn't be done through the SDK.

I'm glad you posted this gripe, I have always wondered how long it will blink the LED but never thought to stop and time the LED- I would always clear whatever alert out of habit.

I would love for someone to be able to figure out how to do that. Its just too damn bright if you are using the phone while its charging and the lights are out (for example using it as an ereader.)
I would like the LED to flash while charging for notifications, does anyone know what colors the EVO's LED can actually flash besides red, green, and orange?
I also would REALLY enjoy all of the previously noted requests. But I'd rather not root my Evo just yet...would it still be possible? (like, could this possibly just be an app?)

[Q] At what all purposes does the LED notification light up by default.?

What.!!
I meant that when does the led light up by default??

Basically he wants to know what notifications the led lights up for, by default? As in before any customizing, etc. What does the led notification light up for on stock?
I am curious about this as well. I've watched and watched for the light and it didn't come on for anything until I installed light flow, lol. So I am curious

The light comes on so long as you have it enabled in settings.
It also lights up in the color reflective to the app, usually..
For Hangouts, it's white.
Facebook, blue. Facebook messenger, green. Snapchat, Yellow. Etc.

Ticking 'Notification light' under 'Settings -> Display' is the requisite for your LED to work at all. As soon as you disable this no app should be able to trigger the LED signal again.
I suppose that the notification itself is not handled by the system because it doesn't appear for every notification. It's more like every app can take advantage of it. I don't know every app which is capable of using the LED - just some of them; but they have already been mentioned in this thread. Some apps don't support the LED notification light, some do and even let you customize its color.
If you want an all-in-one solution to customize colours for different apps I can recommend "Light Flow". I bought the paid version and I'm totally satisfied. Just be sure that those two options are activated, else the app can't control the notification light.
-> Settings -> Security -> Notification access -> Light Flow activated
-> Settings -> Accessibility -> Light Flow -> On
I didn't like Facebook messenger to be green. I turned it blue. WhatsApp is green, SnapChat is yellow and so on... Works like a charm for me :3
Use LEDBlinker, I think it works better..

They both got lite versions so you can easily try and choose which one you like best. Would be great if there'd be an official solution from Google. A system app that is able to control the LED for every app But again: At this moment in time there are only apps in Play Store which can do this.

LED Notification flash rate changer?

I can't seem to find a App that will work with this phone. What I'm looking for it to do is when I get a text message or missed call the LED notification blinks at a higher rate. I have tried a few apps off the market but no luck(Light Flow, Light Manager). These apps will change the color of the led but not the blink rate. This is the one thing I don't like about this phone everything else i cant complain!
Thanks!
Light manager changed the blink rate for me. In the "LED Setting for Notification" Section, you can select what you want to set the LED notification for, ie missed calls, text message, email, etc. When you select one of these, you can pick your color, and there is also a "Flash Rate." You can choose between 1 and 5 seconds.
At first, I had problems getting Light Manager to work. You have to go into settings, general, accessibility, then notification LED. Once there uncheck all the boxes except for "downloaded apps." After I did that, the light manager worked great.
Thank you very much works like a charm!

5.0.1 notification light

Afternoon all
Updated to 5.0.1 today and now notification light doesn't show for any app
Anyone else having this happening? I've used an app to test the light still works and it does
Some other user had this issue after upgrading to 5.0. Check that the notification light is enabled. Go to Settings->Sound&notification and check that "Pulse notification light" is on.
Android 5 introduced a new feature called "quiet mode" (I think thats the name in English roms). When you turn off notification sounds, i.e. by tapping on "none" in the volume pop-up, the notification led gets disabled too.
Pulse notification light is set to on along with all set for notifications as apposed to none or priority but still no light
Turned light off, restarted phone, turned it back on and it has started to work again

Heads up (Banner) notification in B360

Hello guys,
I flashed successfully from B131 to B360.
All works fine as soon.
All notifications arrive immediately but not all were shown in banner mode (heads up) although I chose it in notification settings.
For example AquaMail is only show as banner if I choose in AquaMail settings high priority notificationas.
Tapatalk or other apps are only as icons in statusbar. Whatsapp or sms are shown as Banner.
I'm very confused. In emui 4.1 all notifications are heads up.
Is this a bug
Thx for helping
I am having the same issue with EMUI 5 with Android 7. Searches on google and xda don't give many answers. Have you tried exempting all apps from battery optimization yet? That's the only other answer I've found so far, but some claim it still doesn't work.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/help/notifications-t3454081
The more I learn about this phone, the more I realize that EMUI simply gets in the way of how Android is supposed to operate. Banner and LED notifications are either overridden or ignored by EMUI for third party apps. The only way around it is to use apps that have built in notification settings that can override EMUI.
For example, I use Textra as my primary messaging app and its banner and LED notifications only work when I select those options within the app. EMUI doesn't seem to recognize those functions for Textra and a bunch of other apps as well.
That would explain why I only see notifications for default apps.. will see with the settings in the other apps..

And this applies to the LED notification as well. I turned on the phone screen yesterday to find 3 different apps had notifications in the status bar, but the LED never flashed to tell me they were there.
Hii @PuffDaddy_d
Yes I have the same issue
And the only thing works is the sound notification
But then missing the LED one
LED manager will take over and control the LED notification - just a shame you can't turn off the battery charging LED.

Yes, that app works very well, but it is a huge battery drain for me. It wasn't worth keeping installed.
