ZTE Grand SII (S251) Rooting Guide!!!! (Indian 3G Version)

Hello Everyone!!!!
This is a rooting guide for ZTE Grand SII (S251) which was released in india in the past week.... after trying a number of tools i was successfully able to root the phone, so this is a guide for those who would like to root their phone.... i am not a developer just a power user
1) Connect ur phone to ur pc first time in "Install driver mode" and install the adb drivers first... (Or else you can run setup from the attached file below for installing the drivers for your phone)
2) Once drivers are installed enable "developers Option" in settings and enable "USB debugging"
3) Then download root genius from the attachment below
4) Connect your phone to the pc and select "connect to pc Software" and let the drivers install
5) fire up root genius with administers privileges (you should have internet connection for this)
6) if you have done everything as described above then u should see connected on bottom left of your screen, click i accept agreement and click root and wait....
7) It should take 2 to 3 mins to root using all the possible exploits (internet connection is required for this) and then it should say that you have successfully rooted your phone
8) Once it tells you its successfully rooted close the program disconnect your phone from pc and restart
9) you should see a new program called KingUser in your app drawer (which is like superUser)
10) and Voila!!! your phone is rooted!!!! to confirm this download any free root checker from playstore and check your root privileges.....
NB:
1) You can replace kinguser with super user just by downloading it from the store and installing and updating its binary...... i have taken a backup of kinguser in titanium backup before installing superuser and replacing it as a system app.....
2) You can follow this guide cautiously cause if you brick your phone then i am not responsible..... this has worked for me and hence wanted to share it with the community which has helped me countless times in the past.....
3) if you root your phone your warranty would also void and i am not responsible for the same.....
4) any help or suggestion would definitely help with that

Thx bro... Just trying to help.... Nope a developer needs to port the ROM for our device then only we might get a custom ROM...
The Antutu score is 39554 on v5.1

Is it possible to install Clockworkmod recovery or TWRP recovery to this phone and back up?

As of now its not available for our device and frankly have not tried it too, since there is no modder who is ready to work on our device..... have gifted this phone to wife for this sole reason and moved over to OnePlus One....

after rooting while sign in to gapps '' connection is not secure - this may be temporary problem or contact customer service'' i dint use any proxy or vpn connection

Guys can you confirm the model number is S251 for the Indian version of ZTE Grand S2. Also did anyone come across stock official firmware for ZTE Grand S2? I was a kernel developer for Xperia ZL previously and I can try porting recovery for our device if anyone could point me to any stock firmware for this device so that I can recover my device incase I brick it.

Yep the Indian Grand s2 model number is S251 and it's only 3g with CDMA unlike the international variant which is 4g lte variant ..... And i have yet to come across a stock firmware and recovery for this device hence am skeptical to flash anything else... Wish u could help us out with a working custom recovery....

I've already received my device and started working on CWM. I was thinking of making a unification thread for all the ZTE Grand S II devices. I'll try doing that but if anyone's willing to do that post the link to that thread here to redirect users. Also I found the stock firmware files for our device so we can always go back to working stock firmware in case anything goes wrong. I'll post link to stock firmware later

Wow... Would really appreciate that.... Just be sure which thread u would be merging because the international variant is completely different (snapdragon 801 whereas ours is 800) would really luv to see the links to stock firmware and recovery...

Hi all.. I recently purchased this phone from amazon.in .. Have anyone figured out any updates to the software. It is stuck to 4.2.2 .. And to simply root ur device use towel root. I rooted mine with towel root.

Simply download towelroot from towel root.org .. Install it. Click on the make it rain button .. Wait for a few seconds.. It will congrats.. Reboot.. Download root checker from play store.. Check if u got root.. If positive, download supersu from play store. Done

I downloaded it, but it didnt install. On going through the details on the site it states that it works only on Kitkat devices. Can you confirm how you installed this on your device

There are some ROMs present on the below link which state the model as ZTE-S251, the one we have in India. But how to check if these will work on our phones.

[Q] please help to fix Gionee Elife E7 system update app crash

Hello everyone, whenever I try to update my Gionee e7 32gb through system updater app , the app crashes, please give me a solution as I am not interested to flash ROM through cwm due to warranty issue. I attached the screenshot of the error here. Thanks in advance.
BTW factory resets didn't work.

Thank you very much for replying. One more thing, which rom should I use I found these two zipped firmwares when I googled, 1.Gionee_E7_32G_0301_T8143.zip
2.Gionee E7 (32G) 0301 T5831.zip
Or could you give me a google search key to find the stock rom, plus will I have to run GNQC in windows xp/7 as it ain't running on 8.

Sorry mate for late reply, that rom worked like a charm. Thanks for the suggestions I also updated it to kitkat. But I should warn others that after the kitkat update annonymous SMSes were sent to an Indian number resulting in my balance being zeroed. I stopped those vulnerabilities with 360 antivirus. Apart from that everything is okay, cheers.

Currently I'm running lollipop beta for honor 6 plus (b305) and I would like to downgrade again to KitKat.
So after searching here and there I found this

The instruction PDF file is for honor 6 plus, means I download the right package.....but when I try to update I failed at 10%.
I don't know why I failed.

Seems the Download Package same built with the last I download, Failed at 10% all the time. I don't think can be solved this issue.

lolipop to kitkat by recovery
i installed also lolipop from here huawei site it works good, when i reset factory settings then it gives me headache .. no more keyboard inputs .. just google voice .. i tried to reinstall the same .. then i install manually google keyboard .. i tried to rollback to kitkat through their forum i found this " Complete Package Version: PE-kernel.[Android4.4.2].tar
MD5: 110CA9E00CDE650E9C77B0B2BF45D124 but i don't know further how to install this .. can u advice .. thanks

You have downloaded the wrong file! It's the kernel source for Honor 6.
Download the Lollipop stock ROM and report me if it has a middle package folder inside it.

are you used A1 device version ?

i followed the steps carefully and flashed the rom but after the device booted it froze at the first page select language and i flashed the rom many times after that and it froze every ones at XOS logo please help
note my devise is note 2 pro B1

first of all R.I.P motherboard
its clearly written in the OP of rom that dont install any update through updater app(only in miui roms) cause it can brick your device.
dude you bricked your device search xda "how to unbrick yuphoria".

If you see a black screen after update then just install stock rom via fastboot

i have the same issue it was on auto update ..and now while flashing the stock rom it shows remote flash write failure for system file alone ..rest data and cache and other files r flashing ..only the system one is not ...help me please on what to do
