Excessive overheating causing phone to shutdown - AT&T LG G3

Hi all. I'm really hoping that you all can help me out here. I have an At&t LG G3 D850 and I had to replace the SIM/SD card reader on my phone because pins for the SD card reader were bent and would not recognize my SD card, but it recognized my SIM card just fine and I was able to use my phone. I took my phone to a repair shop and they ordered a replacement SIM/SD card reader and replaced it for me on my phone. After they replaced it, my phone began to overheat to the point where I would receive a popup on my phone stating, "High temperature detected. Device will be turned off for your safety if the temperature rises higher. Please use after a while." and then about 30 seconds later, the phone shuts itself off. I've tried a second OEM battery that I have as a backup, I've tried doing a Factory Reset, I've even tried flashing back to stock firmware, but this continues to happen. I installed CPU-Z and found that the temperature of my phone was running at about 127° F. I let my phone cool down over night, with no battery installed and now when I put the battery in and turn the phone on, it boots up and then shuts down with no warnings. I've had this phone since it came out and I've never had any issues with my phone, especially no overheating issues, until I took it to have the SIM/SD card reader replaced. Aside from taking the phone back to the repair shop and demanding they fix it, what can I do to fix this? I know that I can find a replacement board on eBay for like $50, but I don't want to put more money into my phone. Thank you all, your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Continuous reboot boot loop cycle resets by itself automatically reset

I had this issue of the boot loop and was pouring over dozens of threads. THe phone would reset itself after the inital splash screen loaded. flashing stock rom didn't work, nor did flashing the radio or flashing from sd card. I bought a secondary charger and also another battery, but those did not solve anything. There were no bent contacts on the battery. What finally worked was this:
I plugged the phone into the wall outlet, and let it just continuously reset itself overnight. In the morning when I looked, the phone was on the windows welcome screen.
I have not seen this solution posted anywhere so I wanted to put one more option out there on the table for anyone else experiencing a similar issue.
That is real weird...
try a task 29
Hi,
Had the same problem today.
I have tried HARD-RESET, flash STOCK ROM from the SD, none helped.
Then I saw that one of the phone battery pins is in a strange position.
I have fixed it, put back the battery - and WALLA !!
Hope it will assist
I am having the same continuous rebooting problem now after loading Task29.
I managed to load a new ROM on the device but it still continuously reboots.
I have checked the pins on the battery - they are fine.
Hey Quazimoto,
Please check the pins on the HS which the battery will touch,
on my Raphael, one of the pins (of the handset itself) was bended to the side, when I have fix it, so it again touched the battery, all went good.
Cheers!
strange
well remove ur memorycard, flash a new rom or original rom.. dun put ur SD card back give it a try.. cuz sumtimes strange things do happens cuz of memory card
So its just happened to me and what started it was to allow the battery to go low .. very low dead. before shutting down andriod and entering the reboot cycle to enter back into windows.
Charging on a USB PC connection continued the reboot cycling.
Charging on the mains socket stopped the cycling ... and once charged sufficiently (4omins) it now boots ok.
I won't let it run so low from now on.

Hi,
I just bought one of these off eBay (need that hardware 5 row keyboard). Switched it on and was merrily configuring wireless when it shut off. Yep - I should have plugged it into the mains before doing anything. But I didn't.
Now it sits there with the red light on (when plugged into the mains) but nothing happens. Yesterday it was looping; it would get to the Vodafone splash screen then shut off, give a little vibrate then do it again a couple of minutes later. I left it overnight and now it's just sat with the red light and ain't doing anything much.
Have tried hard reset several times (one time it got to the tri-colour screen with ROM info etc but I've not got back to that screen since!). To my knowledge it is stock Windows Mobile 6.1 Vodafone (UK). Is a RHOD100. Have done many searches on this forum and the Internet at large. In the absence of any other suggestions I think I'll try a new battery.
Any help very much appreciated!
Cheers,
Geoff
Hi ,
I had the same problem of Reset cycles after the battery in my Touch Pro2 was totally discharged.
The solution that worked for me was to take out the micro SD card and charge the TP2 through the main socket - this stopped the reset cycles.I left the battery to be charged overnight and in the morning I just had to plug out the device from the charger and perform Soft reset.
The TP2 was back to life without loss of data.

This is the Touch Pro2 CDMA forum. This is a totally different device than what you have. You might try a Galaxy forum.

Solution
Hi,
The problem is caused by the phone booting while the phone is just on charge. The phone charge circuit shuts off in the first splash screen. The battery still has minimal charge so discharges fully, the phone shuts off and we start all over again.
So, repeatedly plugging in the charger and unplugging same before the phone starts - will work. You will be able to leave the charge on for an ever increasing time - starting at about 5 seconds. Repeat for approximately 10 minutes. Eventually the phone will remain on charge without starting up.
boots with no SIM or Memory card

OK, this actually work for my looping T-Mobile G2. Removing the SIM and Memory card boots the device and seems stable. So I was going to format the SD card, but I just put the SIM back in again with no mem card. Now it starts looping again. So tried and old SIM that T-Mobile had cloned to attempt another fix and it starting looping with that SIM. So removed that SIM, and again, with no SIM card the phone boots fine. So it has to be some hardware issue, maybe SIM contacts? Unclear

Possible cause of reboots / hard locks?

I could be off on this one, but I'm curious if anyone else has had a similar experience to mine.
My phone locks up or restarts multiple times a day. I figured it was a hardware issue, and I've already got a replacement on the way. However, I noticed that when I removed my 32GB sdcard and placed it back in my old phone, that the G2X stopped freezing and rebooting. I placed the 32GB card back in, and the rebooting resumed.
I'm curious if there's a chance that the G2X doesn't play nice with certain brands/sizes/speeds of sdcards. Has anyone else noticed this same trend?
I'm using a Sandisk 32GB C2 card. Works great on my MT4G (still), worked great on my Epic 4G & Droid 2. Card tests out fine, so I'm curious if this may be the "source" of the bug some users are experiencing. 32GB cards causing an issue? Slower cards? Anyone have any thoughts on this?
My phone has no SD card, and I have had a few freezes and 1 reboot since I got it on 4/20.
I can't put my phone on charger without having to pull the battery to get it to turn back on.
I noticed almost everytime I accessed my 32gb sdcard that 1/2 the time it locked up.... it seems to scan the card way more than was done with my N1. Anyway...I had antivirus installed. Y the one by avg. So I uninstalled it and since I had lookout on my phone Amway...I enabledits antivirus. And it cut down. severly on freezes.
The other thing I noticed is only do your overnight charging with the LG charger that came with your G2x. Or any long term charging I think.
Also... I know this sucks...but if I turn off my phone and turn it back off every morning I do not get reboots or wake up to a dead phone. I saw this mentioned in another thread somewhere and it seems to work. After I hit about 24-48 hours of uptimei get issues.
Well I hope some of this helps.

Sim card module not working anymore after water contact

Hi there,
I did something stupid in the last vacation. When I took some photos of my son in the swimming pool, my phone slithered out of my hands directly into the pool. As fast as I could, I caught it out of the water. At this point the device was already shut down.
Unfortunately there were no suitable tools available to open the screws. So I removed only the hardcover and the battery, but were not able to unplug the battery.
After 4 or 5 days I tried to restart the device. The battery was a 0%. After some recharging I was able to restart it. Everything seemed to work fine except one thing:
The sim card wasn't recognized. when I booted the device. If the device is running and I remove and re-insert the the sim card, the pin dialogue appears and afterwards, the phone symbol is shown in the head bar but without receiving any signal. The device isn't able to connect to any provider. After rebooting the device the sim card isn't recognized anymore.
The sim card works in any other mobile phone. And also a different sim card doesn't work in my phone. Therefore I'm sure the sim card module has been broken.
Is there anything I can do to fix the device?
Yes there are videos on YouTube on how to fix your sim slot, its not to difficult you need a soldering iron though. I've changed the sim slot out on a note 3 and it took about 10 minutes, you can try leaving the phone in a bag of rice it's possible there is still moisture inside the phone causing issues try that first.

Thanks. I've already found some Youtube-guides how to replace it. But I'm still hesitating. If it's really the slot or if have been broken something different inside the electronical logic. Means: it would be annoying to change the slot and the problem remains.
Is there any chance to test this?

Question Phone died a death over night, please help with files recovery!

Hi, My s21+ was fine last night, but when i removed it from my wireless charger this morning the screen is completely black and un-responsive. The ringtone was sounding when someone called me earlier but following troubleshooting from samsung its no longer responsive at all - its no as if the phone isnt even turning on anymore.
I am eager to get the data from the handset, and am willing to take whatever steps neccessary to recover as much a I can. I have tried samsung smart switch PC but the phone is not recognised. I also looked (briefly) into wondershare mobiletrans, but that requires me to activate USB Debugging, which is impossible with a non responsive handset.
What are the best steps for me to take? I am not bothered if the handset works or not, i just want my SMS and Gallery saving if at all possible? There are some SMS's on there from my mum before she passed away that are quite sentimental to me.
All advice gratefully received.
Thanks in advance.
If you can't access the boot menu, there's nothing you can do without repairing the hardware failure first*. If it's the mobo only a data recovery specialist will be able to retrieve it.
If it's a battery failure, replacing the battery should put you in the pink again. Li's can fail completely with no warning but usually it's the degraded ones that fail ie less than 80% of original capacity. Any battery swelling is a failure.
This exactly one the reasons I always use a SD card as a data drive and back that up redundantly. With no data drive regular backup of critical data is mandatory. Phones with no expandable storage put you at a disadvantage in more ways than one. Regardless without redundant backup data lose becomes a question of not if it will happen only when it will happen.
*Try this to fix the black screen of death.
The phone is basically faulty right out of the factory: your screen has a bit that's either torn or disconnected from where it should be. I'd wager if you charged your phone suddenly it went dark its the black screen of death. In my case the screen was off but touch still worked. Left the phone alone for half a year, picked it up and suddenly it worked again. Brainless Samsung.
You should be able to recover your data probably easily. What happens when you connect the phone via USB to the PC? Or when you just charge it? Can you try charging it for a while, booting it up and then if you remember to, unlock it blindly (treat the screen as if it wasn't off)

Saving a phone with a broken motherboard

Hi all,
A little backstory first. I'm very new to XDA, so please let me know if my title formatting is wrong or if this is the wrong category or something else.
I had a Nokia 7.1 for about three years. It broke about two months ago, without a warning. The way it broke was rather strange: I plugged it to a charger with 0% of battery on it. I went to check in 10 minutes or so, and the phone was showing 38% charge. I thought that was weird since the phone should not charge that fast. I didn't care about it too much, powered it on and went to get some food. After coming back, the screen was pitch black. I didn't get to see if it ever even powered on, I only saw the "Android One" logo before going to eat. I tried everything to power it on, but nothing worked. I made sure that the charger was not the problem either. It may be worth noting that the battery life had been degrading for quite a while and wasn't great anymore. I figured that the battery might have died. So, I ripped the phone apart with a rather inappropriate tool (which was probably a huge mistake, but I didn't think it would matter at the time): a regular knife. As I was unplugging the battery from the motherboard, using the knife to pop the connector out, I saw a small spark. After some days of waiting, I got my replacement battery and installed it. Still nothing. I started to suspect a motherboard issue and took the phone to a repair shop. They confirmed it: it was indeed a motherboard issue. Now, I have a few questions that I would really appreciate getting help with:
1. My current theory is that the battery died first. When removing it, the sparks fried the motherboard and this is when the phone broke completely. Do you think this is possible? What is your theory?
2. Is there any possible way to fix the motherboard in this case?
3. If the phone cannot be fixed (which is very likely), is there a way to clone the phone storage onto another device / mass memory without being able to turn the phone on? The reason I want to save this phone so bad is that I have some important 2FA codes in there, can they be saved?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! If you need any extra information regarding this, let me know.
