I don't know if this product exists and I refuse to believe no one is thought about it bud I am looking for a media player with truly smart play lists. I want to have my entire music collection playing and have the software track Which tracks I listen to all the way through and which tracks I skip through and build an automatic based on my long term listening habbits. I know that most media players will store track ratings etc., indipendantly of the media file so would it note be possible to store a play counter for each track in a similar way?

I've been an android devotee since I got my HTC Desire, but the one thing that annoys me about android is that yes, there are tons of music player apps out there that play music, Player Pro being my current favourite... there doesn't seem to be any of them out there that support smart playlists that can make use of standard playlists.
I have a playlist on my ipod that uses a 2 standard playlists as the music source and simply plays the songs that haven't been played in the past 3 days in random order.
Android music players do support smart playlists, but nothing that can replicate the setup on my iPod...
One music player that I haven't heard talked about much but is good will be tomahawk music player,its still in development though check it out when you have the time

PlayerPro by far is the most complete and advanced when it comes to smart playlists. I have been using it for over two years (have over 50 smart playlists ). Copy paste below the play store description:
