Some of the Huawei phones have a DTS mode. As far as i am aware this is software audio processing. Can we port it to the Mate 9?
Mate 9 Also has it
Where?
There is a button in the Huawei music player but you can find it also in settings/audio
Maybe this is region specific? I don't see it in either location in my US version.
Am using mate 9 C636 and it does have DTS on the sound settings.
Yes it's greyed out become I don't have a headset connected.
Maybe this is good for headphones + a movie but for music it makes it sound terrible and overprocessed IMHO. I have the option in my L09-C185 model
But is it automatically enabled when watching a movie or is it only for music ? Strange on GSM arena the specs don't list DTS Mode for the Mate 9 but it is listed on other Huawei phones. This makes me think the mate 9 doesn't have it officially or the full DTS feature.

Ah, I have it there too, I just looked right over it since it's greyed out so light.

I listen to music on my phone through a sony Bluetooth headset. Sony did not provide any battery indicator on the phone so the battery just dies without warning to recharge.
However, I just noticed today that EMUI 5 shows the battery level beside the Bluetooth icon.
Kudos to Huawei.
Just thought I should let people know about this feature.
How is the sound quality? Any sound artifacts? My p9 have a bad Bluetooth quality. Kind like static/electronic effect in some songs are way noticeable.
Battery Bluetooth indicator is available in emui 4.1 on a honor 6x
I had it on the honor 5x also and yes it's a nice feature. I use JBL Bluetooth earbuds with my Honor 8 and it sounds fine.
This is possible on Android, at least on Lollipop. The feature is dependent on the Bluetooth headset sending the battery level in the right format. If the headset supports it, you will see an option in the settings screen for the Bluetooth device. The option will be right above the checkboxes for Call and Media audio. If you don't see this option then the headset either doesn't send battery data or it doesn't send it in the correct format. One enabled you will see a fillable icon on the left side of your notification bar. I've confirmed this using a cheap earbud set from China.

It's actually amazingly good. I just switched from a Xiaomi Mi4C with Resurrection Remix 5.8 to the Honor 8 and i have to say, this is the first phone in ages i am not tempted to just bake a custom rom on to, because stock is missing so much. EMUI 5.0 is doing absolutely amazing for a stock rom (yes, i'm still missing a lot of features, but i think i can and will wait until Honor releases the source code).
Sound quality is pretty damn good. Yes, there are some occasional artifacts, but i think they have to do with not turning off the new(-ish) battery saving feature for that App, that has been introduced in Marhsmallow and refined with Nougat. Also, i only have those artifacts on my Bluetooth Headset - in my car with Bluetooth Radio there is no such thing and i have the feeling, it sounds better than the Mi4C.
I bought recently a new Honor V10. When I open Spotify, the Huawei Histen Audio option does not start automatically. Every time I have to go to Settings, search the option and open it: immediately I can hear the sound changing with Histen effects applied.
Is there any way to make it start automatically when I open song apps/YouTube ecc?
Same problem here, B140 C432...
On my Huawei Nova 2i, Huawei Histen works perfectly. Maybe contact Huawei Customer service.
Another issue equaliser mode doesn't work for speaker - works only for headsets
Hi!
1º Sorry my English. I try to explain but maybe i don't use the best words.
I don't know if is only my phone or not.
The volume on headphones is too low, I try with originals and others headphones (apple, beats, sony...) via bluetooth , USBC, USBC-Converter... and is horrible
I don't want to have a disco on my heads, :silly: but yes, I want to listen my music a few strong as a others phones.
Maybe is a limitation on Europe, because the quality of sound is so good, but the volumen... Meh
Thanks!!!
I read on theverge and mashable that there is suppose to be a DAC/AMP coming as an accesory. But so far I have only seen the freebuds.... My Galaxy S8 is certainly louder than P20....The Quality itself seems good though.
The only trick I know is too enable Dolby Atmos, then go to Music profile, and then "off" then you get a little more loudness and a graphical EQ that is flat. I think that should be a profile without DSP stuff going on. But most natural to me sounds with Dolby atmos disabled. But then it really struggles with volume.
Spotify has this option for example so you can set it up I think. Personally I dont need more volume. Usually using a bit more than the half of the bar.
It is a bit quieter than other phones I used but definitely not too quiet. Maybe you should go check your hearing ?
In ear headphones can be really damaging to hearing when listening on louder volumes.

Your concern is right, vol are very low even with 3rd party headphones , average volume I have to set is around 60-70% always
volume is low when there are too much noise in the background. maybe bcoz of the noise cancellation (or maybe you have ear problem). im using both apple earbuds and the huawei earphones, Pulsar+ player with in-app EQ manually adjusted + Dolby Atmos EQ adjusted to music. volume is too loud for me at 60%, my base %%% for me even in my ASUS Zenfone 5

I noticed this problem too with the original earphones and my Honor monster earphones connected with the headphone adapter. But, weirdly, the sound from my Huawei bluetooth earphones is louder!
low volume on P20 pro bluetooth
I had the same problem. I found the app Volume booster GOODEV. With that app, you will be able to boost the sound much.
Had the same issue! Realized its the cheap connector included swapped for this:
Belkertech Nylon Braided Type C to 3.5mm Audio Microphone Female
Good increase in volume. Hope that helps someone.
For Spotify what can help is to uncheck te option for same volume for all songs
fixed
My wife's mate 20 pro have similar low volume issue with her bluetooth headset and I did this to resolve the issue.
You are going to need to change the Bluethooth audio codec in the "developer options"
You'll need to search for how to get into the developer options on the internet because I can't link as a new user.
I believe you'll need your bluetooth headset connected before you can make any changes otherwise the option to change will be greyed out.
Basically I changed the Bluetooth Audio codec from ACC (which seems to be the default) to SBC. After this, the max volume dramatically improved.
For some reason, options like
Bluetooth Audio Sample Range, Bluetooth Audio Bits Per sample, Bluetooth Audio Channel Mode, Bluetooth Audio LDAC Codec are greyed out even when the bluetooth headset is connected while I checked on another android phone that these are options you can actually play with.
I wanted to change these to see if it'll actually improve bluetooth audio. Either way, I'm happy that changing this works. Let me know if it help for you guys as well?
Settings -> Sounds -> Dolby atmos -> pick "music" -> adjust all levers in the equaliser at the bottom of the screen to +x dB. I maxed out all levers to +12 dB. And voila you've got more volume without changing any relation between different frequencies.

Thanks a million m8! Works for me. Now I can't have volume much above 60% without being uncomfortably loud.
P.S. had to reboot my P30 Pro after changing the codec setting to SBC before the new setting was activated.
Most things depend on what headphones you are using the stock Huawei headphones are so-so... not really worth it either Apple.. When I plugged in my Sennheiser the sound was x2 louder, after that I also got Huawei AM61 sports bluetooth headphones which are great as well. Pay attention to OM as well it is not recommended to use more than 32 OM on a phone without an amplifier.

Go into Developers Mode, then switch on 'Bluetooth absolute volume', works a treat, I don't struggle to hear my music over the ambient noise of the gym now!

Hi bro! Does it also work with wired headphones? At first glance I don't think so. Is there no solution for those who use wired headphones?

I don't think so, no. My friend said he did something similar with the USB-C wired connection, I'll ask him tomorrow.

This is great! Thanks for uploading this. Btw is this ported from another device, or something?

No, just extracted from the zte axon 9 pro. Pie beta build
Thanks brother
Is it working fine ???
Been running it since OP plopped it on here and it's been working good. No crashes or weird behavior.
What is different from previous versions is that the various presets have all equalisers flat. And no settings for volume leveller or increased bass. Would be nice to know what the presets equaliser settings would be. I am using a TA-1021 Nokia, not sure if that is a phone thing. Would be nice to have the presets set to its proper settings. Like Dynamic, Intelligent,. warm,..
On my Nokia 6 2017 TA-1021 (Android 9), I hear no difference in sound quality ie. with or without the app. Anyway after the upgrade from Oreo 8.1 to Pie 9.0, the Doby Atmos feature dissapeared.

Yes me too but toggling the default Dolby Music/Theater mode settings has no effect on the sound. It is broken.
Yes the app stays open etc but it doesn't change anything unfortunately
I've a doubt!
Does the Dolby Atmos enhancement is for Out-speakers or for Earphones?
Why I'm asking this is because when I turn the Dolby settings off, the sound volume from the speakers is little bit increased but it's noisy. When I turn the settings on, the sound "quality" is good but the volume is too low.
The sound enhancement is working properly only with earphones.
(This is not about the app uploaded of this thread. I'm talking about the Default Dolby surround sound settings in the Nokia 6).
Please answer me, if anyone knows!

i think this dolby atmos working well in nougat version both speaker phone and audio peripheral. But after update in oreo even on pie, its not working as we have expected. In this case, on nougat speaker phone get stereo feels.
On oreo still has stereo but louder in bottom speaker, but in pie earpiece speaker volume is so low. we cannot feels stereo feels anymore, i think just we only heard right or left only of playback.

Try changing the vertical frequency bars, you will get the difference. Increasing the dB of left hand side bars will give you better bass. I am using the same device TA-1021. The difference is clearly audible?
How to download
How can I go back to Nougat!

@frnsl3 Bro, I need to test the Speakers on Nougat version. I'm on Pie. How can I downgrade my phone to Nougat version? Please guide me step by step.
New Dolby Atmos App
Download Dolby Atmos App DAX2_2.6.0.28_r1 (63.18MB) from apkmirror website, just search Dolby Atmos apk in google & u will get the results.
Download this version of Dolby Atmos App, it will change your sound setting and gives better sound output than default Dolby app on Nokia 6 device. Try this & comment if u like...
The earphone sound output and quality is quite terrible. Is there any possibility to tune it for better quality? Is realme going to fix this issue by any OTA update?
Turn off real HD Sound in sound settings. It messes up the sound
I already did. I am using Poweramp music player.
You need to use RM5p's default music player to enjoy real sound effects-like bass and rest stuff. No other music player apps supports.
Else, you have to download music player with built in equaliser. I use default music player and also these - EQ music player and an app called equaliser V 1.2.2.
Just hoping that the sound issues will be resolved in next OTA updates.
Any Solutions for the sound?

The overall phone is so great but the sound output sucks.Have tried all sorts of equilizers to no avail.
Is this a hardware issue or a software one? I mean has anyone tried using a usb C to 3.5 mm converter cable?
I've this issue with my X2 Pro too ?
Any updates?
