So about 3 days ago my Inspire randomly stopped receiving incoming calls/texts, callers ring out to voicemail and I have no idea anyone has called. Talked with AT&T tech support and found out there are no problems on their end. Also, incoming calls/texts will be received during outgoing calls I make (apparently the calls are routed differently for call waiting). I've tried deleting apps i've downloaded recently and even a factory data reset, still with no luck. If anyone has any idea what could be causing this problem, I would really appreciate any help you could offer. Thanks!

take out SIM
put back in
try SIM swapping with other phone
I am having same problem, randomly not receiving calls if the caller leaves a VM I generally get it later. sometimes my wife will call me on home phone and tell me my cell is not ringing and if I try to call myself it works about half the time, no idea what is causing this.
Hi,
I have Dell venue mobile, it was working fine for almost a year and a half. All of a sudden from last month it started giving issues with detecting the signal and often does not responds while making outgoing calls. The outgoing call will never be completed, even if I tried to disconnect the call, it will not get disconnected. Only option is to restart the mobile and it works for sometime. Sometimes it give SIM is not detected error. I tried with factory settings it did not help to resolve the issue. Also I visited the service center and got the Android OS re-flashed but still the issue is not resolved. Could someone help me to resolve the issue.
Thanks in advance.

Hey guys,
I have a Nexus 5 running 5.1 stock with an LTE connection in La Paz, Bolivia. Most of the time when I make a call or receive a call, the call is dropped. I have observed that as soon I make the call (with full reception bars) the LTE legend switches to E and then 20 to 30 seconds later, the reception bar dissapears and then the call is dropped.
I was hoping that with 5.1 update the issue will be resolved but nothing has happened.
I have contacted my carrier several times and my APN settings are correct and they haven't been able to troubleshoot the problem with the connection.
I would truly appreciate any ideas that you might have to solve this issue!
Ok, so after looking at several threads in Google Support for the Nexus 5, I tested a solution in which you booted the phone in Safemode and voila, my phone would not drop any calls and LTE would work just fine.
The problem is that Safe Mode does not allow loading anything but the core applications, so I can't use the apps that I have installed.
At this point, I think I have a software problem in which an app or a process drops the calls.
Do any of you have any ideas on how to diagnose which app or process is creating the problem?
Thank you

I'm having a bit of a strange issue. Not sure if it's related to charging or not, but I have missed at least 3 calls with no notifications only to get a voicemail notification. I believe the first two happened on the charger and the third just happened a little while ago definitely on the charger. Most calls seem to come through and my apartment can be a bit of a reception nightmare; however, my signal is always 3G at home to negate that and this wasn't an issue on my old phone. It seems that my device randomly drops onto a 2G not my network occasionally(Bell/Telus don't have 2G gsm towers, only Rogers). Roaming is disabled which would explain why I would miss the call entirely, but every time I check my phone, it's registered on the network it should be with 3-5 bars of signal
I get a lot of phone calls from work so it can be a bit frustrating... Thankfully they always leave a message. Anyone else missing calls?
Are you using a wireless charger? I've heard claims that wireless charging can interfere with signal. I can't confirm it for myself as I very rarely get phone calls, but I certainly haven't received any calls while wireless charging. I don't have voicemail either, so I could be in the same situation and not know it. :silly:
Yes. I am having the same issues of calls not coming through, but only being notified if a voicemail has been left. Though my issue does not just happen when my phone is being charged. I went into USCC and the associate could not replicate it as it occurs randomly. She called tech support and they could not come up with an answer. The associate when on to say it was the callers phones causing the problem and not mine. Yeah, right.
missed calls
I have a galaxy s6 active on AT&T and I'm experiencing the same issues. It has happened while my phone is not on or near any chargers. It also had full reception as I was in the same room as my AT&T microcell. My wife asked if I heard my phone ring, but it didn't when she called. She tried calling it while I was next to her. Her phone dialed and rang, but my phone had no incoming call. I also tried calling her right back, but it would not dial at all. I just purchased the phone and will quickly be taking it back to exchange for something else if I continue missing calls . Has anyone gotten feedback?
It happens to me. Usually when I'm in a building with a metal roof., but not always. It's random.

Me too
Just upgraded my S3 to S6 and I've been nothing but issues with missed calls. I'm usungOtter box case on my phone. My phone could be right next to me in the house or be in the charger and I'd miss the call. It never happened to me...ever in my house.
I haven't called Samsung yet for support. Not sure what they're going to say.
I had the same issue but it is rare. Updated my firmware helps with the signal.
Got a lot of missed calls on XtreStoLite 2.2 (see details at bottom) and sometimes answering calls not working too.
Was on a fresh original firmware before flashing rom.
I just updated to 2.4. Hope is related to Baseband Version. Will report later if still got same issue.

Same story with full LTE signal, wifi calling off. Incoming calls fail to reach my phone most of the time but outbound calls always work.
At my office a majority of my incoming calls do not come in... the people calling me report it "rings" 2 times and goes to my voice mail. The phone does not ring, show any notification a call is inbound, nor does it list the calls in the log.
Voicemail notification and SMS are the same story... I sometimes get a text message 30 minutes after it was sent by the person when the inbound cell stuff decides to start working.
Now if I make an outbound call, inbound calls and sms will arrive no problem for about 30minutes to an hour... but it eventually goes back to missing incoming messages.
I've gone through the agony of customer/tech support, switching on/off VoLTE, Wifi calling, call banning, Do not disturb, etc. but no luck. The phone seems to go into some suspend mode with the tower and nothing can get in .
95% of missed call issues are carrier based. You may want to talk to your carrier about putting in a network ticket or about getting a replacement sim.
That said, OP specifically, try putting your phone in safe mode when charging and see if it continues.
I forgot to mention this is a tmobile-branded device.
I was able to confirm that this is a baseband firmware issue (G920TUVU3D0I1) that incoming calls are missed and texts are substantially delayed after a certain amount of screen-off time. My original device and first replacement had this baseband version and had the same issue on two different sim cards.
The only solution is to get a device with the older baseband version (G920TUVU2COF8) which my second replacement had and has been working trouble-free ever since.
Patch coming to 5.1.1
Rogers just confirmed there is indeed a problem with the latest 5.1.1 causing the SMS and call issues and a fix is coming 11/16. We'll have to see when the other carriers push this out

Tmobile is rolling out G920TUVU3DOJ7 tonight, hope this is the same fix Rogers discussed on their forum
Before i start I'm not saying any of you are involved in any criminality but incase you are worried about your privacy/security in any way shape or form its worth considering what im saying, I'm sure you all know of ed Snowden revelations and you know that L.E. have the capabilities to remotely activate your phones mic. A friend of mine has been in this situation where when in a sensitive situation altough having full signal and in an open space and where not able to recieve any calls as the mic was already being used by some unknown entity. In these situations if my friend tries to make a call it doesn't go through the first try, it doesn't even go to answer service just cuts out. Next time he tries to ring out it goes straight away. Him making the first call cuts them off from listening through his mic. Things have then happened after some of these conversations that would have been impossible without the monitoring .
Again I'm sure none of you are involved in any dodgy dealings but it's worth knowing if your conscious of your privacy.

I have a G8142 with the latest security patches/updates on AT&T.
I'm having a strange issue occur on probably one out of every two or three calls. After about 45-60 seconds of conversation, my mic will cut out. I can still hear the other person clearly. I can end the call (this is not instant - it hangs up for 3 to 5 seconds) and then call the person back and resume conversation normally.
A few notes:
It doesn't matter if I place the call or if I am called
The duration from beginning of call to cutting out fluctuates
My microphone diagnostic indicates it is working properly
The call does not seem to actually drop - it will go on for quite some time (with me able to hear the other person) until someone eventually hangs up
Calling the person back/being called back does not fix the issue (it can happen multiple times in a row with the same person/call sequence)
Signal strength is usually -80 or better
The phone functions flawlessly otherwise. There also don't seem to be any issues or drops with respect to the data connection, and SMS/MMS messages seem to get delivered immediately every time. The phone hasn't been dropped or exposed to any liquid. I have disabled some system apps (like Facebook), but none that seemingly have to do with making phone calls.
I have full bars most of the time. I force 3G+ on the phone, as the 4G+ (LTE) signal is weak in many areas. AFAIK that only affects data rates anyway.
It doesn't seem to happen as much if at all if I put the call in speaker mode. I have not used a bluetooth headset for calls to see if that fixes the issue.
Here's some things I've tried:
Rebooted the phone
Updated my IMEI with AT&T. I'm not sure if they actually did it (they stated it was "already changed") or if it makes a difference. My last phone was an unlocked Nexus 6p and did not have this issue. I did not get a new SIM for this phone.
Double-checked and redownloaded the APN settings.
I haven't tried voice calling through a third-party app, like hangouts or whatsapp, but I assume it would work just fine because it's being transmitted over data.
There is either a GSM/setting issue on my end, a settings issue on AT&T's end, or possibly a hardware issue (like a loose SIM, faulty mic, or bad antenna).
For now I'm at a loss, and any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
*** UPDATE ***
I've tried clearing the phone app cache and making sure that battery optimization is turned off for the app. I'll report back if this seems to fix it in case anyone is having a similar problem.
*** UPDATE 2 ***
That didn't work. Calls still drop intermittently. I've pretty much narrowed it down to a problem with the antenna, AT&T towers not particularly caring for the baseband firmware on this phone, or an issue with the dialer app. Performing calls over data (like Whatsapp/Hangouts/Duo) works flawlessly.
We'll see what happens if the phone app gets an update, or maybe after Sony releases the Oreo update.
For those US XZP users on AT&T or those that were considering buying this model, be aware this issue may affect you.
*** UPDATE 3 ***
Changing the mobile radio to 4G (preferred) instead of forcing 3G seems to have solved the problem.
