Incorrect Internal Memory Showing - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My phone has 128GB internal memory, I've just flashed new firmware on it as I couldn't update my software.
Now my internal memory is only 16GB instead of the 128GB, is there anyway to fix this?

Tried flashing the stock ROM again, now I'm just getting the black screen with the white Samsung logo at the start.

Managed to fix it, this thread can be deleted now.

hey man, i have the same problem. I have the 32gb version and after flashing android 7.0 with odin it only recognize 16gb. How have you fixed it? thanks!

I remained persistent, I put it in recovery mode, wiped the cache and did a factory restore and reflashed android 7.0 and it worked after that, if it looks like the phone won't boot and it's stuck on the Samsung screen, leave it for a bit as it may start, I was impatient at first and thought it wouldn't boot and kept messing with it unnecessarily.

Recovery mode, Vol up + Home + Power keys. Vol keys to move up/down and power key to select.

Thanks! I finally tried making a factory reset and a partition wipe in the recovery mode and it just restart fine with all memory being recognized

Stuck at bootscreen!!

I was using my 7.7 when it suddenly reboots, now it's stuck in bootscreen
I tried formatting it using CMW but to no avail, it will just reboot once I clicked format and will be stuck on bootscreen again,
I tried flashing back to standard ROM using ODIN, flash was successful but as soon as the flash completes and the device rebooted, it will be stuck on bootscreen again
need help =(
I think problem is with ur recovery
You're Either Nexus Or Against Us
what should I do? any ideas? seems like I have a corrupted internal storage but I'm not so sure
okay I tried reflashing the tab with the standard ROM (just like what I did earlier) then using the default user data format, I wiped the internal storage, *sigh** all my files were gone. but the tab is working now
Great.

If you have another occurrence then try letting the battery go flat first before trying flashing for that is the same as removing the battery in a phone. If that doesn't fix it then let the battery go flat again and do a factory reset. It worked for me.

it's an endless bootloop right? assuming that you have reflashed with a stock firmware via odin, DO NOT INSTALL/FLASH CWM!
>device will reboot and will be stuck on samsung gtab 7.7 logo
-hold on power + volume up
>device will try to restart
-don't release the power + volume up
it will enter recovery mode (yellow writings) then just select wipe user data
> this will format your entire internal SD card!
PS: anyone here knows how to do a data recovery via FTP? I'm stomped at this, I have all the tools I need, except for one I need to connect the SD internal storage to my computer as USB Mass Storage so that I can use my recovery suites. Please help!
thanks

I know this , but unfortunately i am not reaching this stage to get wipe user data , only getting a yellow line with " manual mode" then a line " updating application " then it reboots into samsung logo again.

Yes , with the same problem,
Now there are two of us. I have exactly the same issue.
Tab was working fine (stock XXLB3+root from XDA), suddenly reset, 1st static logo appeared, then 2nd Samsung animeted logo, tab reseted again during 2nd logo, and now only 1st static logo shows (no loop, just hung). Going to recovery mode resets on "Copying common apks", so I cannot do anything. Download mode is working, so I tried CWM rec. & wipes: data, cache, dalvik. Tried reflashing stock LB3 (P6810) as well. No luck. @#[email protected]$ I did nothing serious to the tab for at least 3 weeks.
Now I'm waiting for battery death.

Do you have any better idea?
I put it for 15 minutes in download mode, 1st screen, then 2nd screen, then again on samsung logo for another couple of minutes. And again download -> logo -> download.
I don't have other than prying your tab open, well, I just formatted mine few hours back, goodbye files I'm still installing some of my apps and trying to recover data as much as possible

Guys, the only fix to the problem where you tried to recover to factory default and stuck at "updating application" @ recovery is battery death. Other than that, then you would need to bring it to the nearest samsung service centre for them to flash a firmware which can do a complete wipe.
Well, at least for me, i didnt have the patience to wait, so i pop by the nearest samsung centre to do a factory reset.

1. I waited, and nothing changed, so I installed CWM 5.0.2.7, and tried to format /data, --> reset. No luck. Now I'm waiting for e2fsck to finish but it last really long - a lot of errors...
How can I format from adb shell /dev/block/mmcblk0p9 (/data)? using simple mke2fs shows me something about "lseek: value too large"...
2. # fdisk -l /dev/block/mmcblk0
fdisk -l /dev/block/mmcblk0
Disk /dev/block/mmcblk0: 15.7 GB, 15758000128 bytes
1 heads, 16 sectors/track, 1923584 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16 * 512 = 8192 bytes
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/block/mmcblk0p1 1 1923584 15388671+ ee EFI GPT
Partition 1 does not end on cylinder boundary
Nothing more....
3. I cannot mount /emmc from CWM. I can mount /cache, /system, even /data with errors (doing ls -R resets tab)
Any ideas? I did completely nothing to the tab before yesterday.

Stuck on white HTC screen

did a factory reset, when I rebooted, the phone is stuck on the white htc screen, I am able to reboot into cwm, but everything on my phone and sd card have been wiped, my backups are gone. I tried adb, but my phone is not recognized. Any and all help would be appreciated.
Thanks

How long did you wait? The factory reset can take anywhere up to 5 minutes. When I factory reset my S4 and M8, it took a few minutes. Naturally, I panicked, but just wait it out and it should boot hopefully. :good:

I'm having the same issue, how are you booting into CWM?
Edit: I had to do a hard reboot using volume up and power buttons then once the screen turned black quickly press the power and volume down button.
Ive got the same issue but im stuck in twrp recovery, says i have no os installed and everything on my internal memory was wiped. I downloaded a rom onto an sd card but it failed to install. Now what?
Edit: I managed to get a Rom installed. I've been flashing stuff for years but whatever happened this time has me stumped. Completely wiped my phone and os. I believe it was something to do with flashing a themed version of twrp, that was the last thing I did before getting stuck.

One plus One stuck in a reboot loop after cyanogen nightly update

So I haven't had any luck with my Oneplus One lately . I had rooted the phone and was running the CyanogenMod nightlies for a while, but recently for some reason when I updated it for Nov. 25 I have been suck in a reboot loop where the phone boots up and it starts updating apps, but then it continuously does this cycle of rebooting and updating apps. I have tried to enter recovery mode to try and remedy the situation as I have twrp, but for some reason it doesn't boot to recovery when I press down the power and vol down buttons. I have tried to adb to try and reboot into recovery mode but I haven't been able to get it to work. I'd really appreciate some help on this as I have no idea what to do at this point.
I should also mention that I would like to see if it is possible to recover my data as I foolishly did not make a back up.
Thanks in advance.
So just an update I was finally able to get into recovery mode. I backed up my data with twrp and I tried the method mentioned in the reddit link below.
http://https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidQuestions/comments/1ly5b1/is_it_possible_to_restore_my_sms_from_a_twrp/
I installed the newest version of nightlies CM 13.0 2015 11/30 along with gapps 6.0, but now my phone just boots up and optimizes apps but when it restarts after that it just goes to a black screen.
I know I can wipe everything through twrp and install cm 13.0 probably eliminating the issues I am having, but I'm reluctant to do so as I would like to retrieve my sms messages. I have taken my photos off my phone so I have that.
If any one can advise me on if I can restore my sms from the twrp back up I have made then I'll wipe my phone and do a clean install.
Thanks in advance
i have the exact same problem. would be nice to have it fixed and working without losing all the data.
So I decided to go ahead and wipe my system as I have all of the data I could get out of my phone on my pc now. I get get cyanogen working nicely, until I go into twrp and try to restore the data files I had backed up. This goes well until the reboot then a message pops up saying something isn't working (too fast too read). I then get a blank screen.
Now I still have the same problem of how to put the data I had saved when I used twrp back on to my phone. I believe something in my data is corrupt which is why this is happening, but I'm not sure. Is there just a way to extract say the sms from the data I have saved, that's really all I need at this point. The backups made by twrp are in a format .WIN that I have never seen before and I would appreciate the help if someone can advise me what to do from here.
CM13.0 struck in Reboot loop
When I was browsing and doing some multitasking stuff..noticed that phone was lagging a bit .So i thought to reboot so that it would come out of that...But it completely struck in reboot loop forever.
please help me out of this issue.
Thanks in advance

Are you pressing the Vol down button and power button. Also I unscrewed the back of the phone to unhook the battery cable then I pressed the buttons. I found also, through trial and error on my phone, that you can hold down the buttons for too long so you have to watch and make sure on that. I found that you should hold the 2 button combo through the oneplus one boot logo and you'll see the lights dim then you let the buttons go and its worked so far at least on my phone.

Issues flashing stock with odin J700t

I have a question, dont really know where to ask. I have the tmobile j700t, and I've tried restoring with odin, (with the j700t firmware of course) and im not sure if its doing everything. Everything seems to go fine in odin, flashes boot, modem, system etc. reboots, rebuilds cache, then it just goes to my original lock screen with my custom wallpaper and all my apps still on. I can do a factory reset after, but it doesnt seem to do anything but clear the cache. Am I missing something? I enables OEM UNLOCK and USB debugging before hand.
The inability to make write changes sounds like a bad NAND issue, you could try flashing with a .pit file but the phones internal memory could be physically damaged.

Try clicking the Nand erase all box and unclicking auto reboot. Flash the factory ROM and when it completes hold volume down, home and power buttons until the screen goes black. This is important, as soon as the download screen is gone you need to hold the recovery buttons (volume up, home and power) so the phone can erase all system data and update itself the way it's designed to after flashing a factory update. If the device reboots before you enter recovery you have to start over. Hit thanks if this helps bro.

well that seems to have fixed it, weird though, when I rebooted into recovery like you said, it did an update, there was a progress bar, then it rebooted, and rebooted AGAIN, did an "update" and then rebooted. Weird, I usually see it say "updating" but then it will stop and you can bring up the recovery menu. Never seen a progress bar and then it just reboot twice. Well anyway it seems to have worked so thank you!

Whenever you flash back to stock or update a stock firmware through official means, it automatically boots into recovery and erases the system you have in place, very similar to TWRP. If you try to flash a stock firmware without erasing everything you will always run into some kind of incompatible memory error. The screen you're thinking of is just the stock recovery checking your system and OTA's for an official upgrade. Glad I could help man.

Galaxy sm-j700h stuck in safe mode

Wokeup this morning and decided to restart my phone as i usually do every morning, but after the restart the phone has remained in safe mode since then. I have tried restarting the phone several times to no avail.
I believe phone has been rooted about 2 years ago or so. I dunno what kind of recovery im running also.
I am still running 5.1.1
J700HXXU1AOG6 (baseband version)
LMY48B.J700HXXU1AOI3 (build number)
Please any help to resolve this would be greatly appreciated
NOTE:
Im a noob, so please try to be clear as possible.
THANKS
UPDATE
Just realized the volume down button is not working(clicks but doesnt lower the volume). So im guessing this is what makes it enter safe mode all the time

You have backups ?
What kind of ROM are you using ?
Anyways best is gonna be download any rom and wipe system, data, cache, dalvik...then flash it.
If you don't have backup and you're on stock then just download the firmware from Sammobile and then flash it via Odin, remember don't factory reset, else your all data will be wiped out.
Then start your phone, take a backup of the things you'll need and then reset and flash it again.
And if you're on a custom ROM and you don't have backups then flash the ROM on your recovery again without wiping anything. Restart your device then, you'll see your datas intact, then take a backup but most likely you'll see a lot of force stops of several apps while in this process. Then complete by flashing it again after wiping data system cache dalvik.

No, i dont have any backups(most things were saved on SD card)
I believe its stock rom. The only thing i remember doing is rooting the phone long time ago when i got it.
I just realized that the volume down button is not functioning(clicks in but doesnt lower the volume) and i believe this is where the issue is as the volume down activates the safe mode feature
Im still gonna flash the phone none the less cos im still on older android and i hope it works
That volume down button is broken, stuck ON. Get it fixed.

Thanks a lot to everyone who tried to help.
Will be taking the phone for repairs by Monday and will drop a feedback on how that goes
Fixed the volume down button and the phone is back to normal now.
Time to close this thread and go search on how to root the 6.0.1
Thanks guys
Cheers!
