Contributors

ROM OS Version: 7.x Nougat
ROM Kernel: Linux 3.4.x
Based On: LineageOS
Version Information
Status: Beta

Installation guide for new users:
Things you need:
- Stock firmware (if you're not on .291): https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56046548&postcount=2
- TWRP Recovery image: Above in OP, downloads area
- The ROM: Above in OP, downloads area
Make sure you're on the latest stock firmware, version 23.5.A.1.291
If you're not:
1. Download the firmware from the above link or somewhere else, it doesn't matter which region you pick
2. Flash the FTF file with Flashtool, latest version obtainable here: http://www.flashtool.net/index.php
3. Power off the phone after completion
Flashing TWRP Recovery:
1. Download from above
2. Enter fastboot mode - while the phone is off, hold the vol up button and insert your USB cable (connected to PC), blue led light should appear
3. Enter the following command: fastboot flash FOTAKernel twrp_z3c_2017-04-26.img (or whatever the file is called)
Flashing the ROM:
1. To enter recovery, hold the power and vol-down keys while the phone is powered off
2. Wipe system, data, cache, dalvik cache
3. Select the ROM zip and flash away
4. OPTIONAL: Flash any extras, Gapps (open gapps work well) and root from here: https://download.lineageos.org/extras use addonsu-arm-signed.zip for ROOT, not SuperSU
5. Reboot
If coming from previous version:
What I recommend is full wipe. No support for those who dirty flash.
- Backup apps with Titanium Backup or other alternatives.
- Backup SMS/call log with SMS backup app.
Known Issues
* Bluetooth connection issues
* Mobile data reconnection issues
* Encryption and adoptable storage leads to bootloops
How to report bugs:
- Attach any relevent logs: dmesg or logcat (clear logs with "adb logcat -c" first, then reproduce issue)
- For random reboots, provide a last_kmsg
- Screenshots or written explanations of how to reproduce

Snap Camera Mod
Simply exposures (pun not intended) Sony variables for the Snap camera app (default one).
- Capture prio modes (ISO/Shutter speed/Manual/Auto)
- More ISO values selectable
- Sony metering modes
- Sony video stabilisation control
Download:
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=673791459329051895
Instructions:
1. Flash ZIP in TWRP
2. Clear data for Camera

First
Thoroughly tested, everything works. Great Job on this one
link removed

Oh yeah I'm downloading right now to give it a try later.... If i succeed and find the time i'll report
For now A REAL BIG THX
Rhonin

One more ovation for @nailyk and @tomascus

@nailyk @tomascus great work!
Now, for those of you getting the Error7 in TWRP, delete these lines from META-INF>com>google>android>updater-script
Code:
(!less_than_int(1490124938, getprop("ro.build.date.utc"))) || abort("E3003: Can't install this package (Tue Mar 21 19:35:38 UTC 2017) over newer build (" + getprop("ro.build.date") + ").");
assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "D5803" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "D5803" || getprop("ro.product.device") == "D5833" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "D5833" || getprop("ro.product.device") == "z3c" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "z3c" || getprop("ro.product.device") == "aries" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "aries" || abort("E3004: This package is for device: D5803,D5833,z3c,aries; this device is " + getprop("ro.product.device") + "."););
ui_print("Target: Sony/D5803/D5833:6.0.1/23.5.A.1.291/2769308465:user/release-keys");
ifelse(is_mounted("/system"), unmount("/system"));
If anyone asks about how to fix error 7... I will personally send hand them over to cannibals XD

This version uses stock blobs ?

yes uses stock blobs

Great work guys!

So no working version yet? The one mcgi5sr2 posted couldn't go through setup after booting, didn't respond to anything other than power menu.

It is an issue when you doesn't have gapps. Reboot should work.

Reboot doesn't help, but I'll try with gapps. Hope that works

Thank you,mcgi5sr2, nailyk Yes, it really takes a very long time to install the firmware. Camera does not work. Black screen, the first launch of the camera with the button, now without a button on the display, very sorry.
P.S. Gapps is not set

Guys, just to clear out any misconceptions, the ROM is fully working and stable for daily use . The build was taken down because of a model specific issue. A new fixed build will be out soon. (No I am not developing it. Just testing the builds)

Is that model specific issue a not working camera? Expect that seems stable, some lineageos settings crash also but that's not a big deal.

Yes. My device has a front camera that is used in Leo, that's why camera apps crashed for me

In a nutshell... There are 2 difference front cameras... There was only one driver in the build

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review.

Yes, mobile data doesn't work.
Thank you @Alberto96 for your hard work. The battery life is already very good even in the first release. Even better than in GearCM 13 as I noticed. The first impressions of the build are excellent :good:
Mobile network is not working. Battery is great so far. No heating issues noted.
Gracias! Thanks you're legend!

FAQ
Q: Why i can't reboot into the recovery from advanced reboot?
A: Because you have installed Magisk 19.1 which breaks it. Keep up to date here: https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/issues/1418 - fixed by @Myself5 since 2019.05.20

fastboot flash recovery twrp.img

Feel free to ask questions or give feedback about TWRP here .
Have a nice day!
Additional information about the recovery on this device:
First of all we should make the basics clear: On our Z3 Compact we have got a bootloader update which can boot a recovery from powered off state by pressing volume down and the power button. Because we haven't ever had this updated bootloader and not all sony devices received the update, there have been some intelligent people who brought a special init binary which can handle recovery boots during a normal boot. This means when using advanced reboot from the ROM or pressing a volume key while the sony logo appears at boot. https://github.com/LineageOS/android_device_sony_common/commits/lineage-16.0
To make this work there is this method to extract the ramdisk: https://github.com/LineageOS/androi...eage-16.0/extract_ramdisk/extract_ramdisk.cpp which uses zlib to decompress it. So far so good, zlib can decompress the default compression for recovery ramdisk which is gzip. However LZMA is more effective to reduce the size so we took it's advantage: https://github.com/omnirom/android_...mmit/885b01223a460d3f2500155ea415bdc8573679bc in order to fit recoverys compiled from recent environments (android-9.0 in my case) into our small FOTAKernel partition.
According to this change the init_sony can't handle the recovery boot anymore because it can't decompress the recovery's ramdisk so nailyk and Diewi (as far as i know) added support to decompress LZMA compressed ramdisk's with this chain: https://github.com/sonyxperiadev/device-sony-common-init/pull/20/commits
However these commits have never been merged into the LineageOS/android_device_sony_common nor the sonyxperiadev/device-sony-common-init. Since your ROM, CarbonROM, is using a fork of LineageOS/android_device_sony_common is missing these commits the recovery boot fails with a kernel panic, like this: https://del.dog/egawososux.htm
So you can either use a recovery which doesn't compress the ramdisk with LZMA (for example the one from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/development/recovery-twrp-3-2-3-0-aries-t3837192 or ask your ROM developer to pick the according commits into the sony_common tree/use my fork of LineageOS's one https://github.com/z3c-pie/android_...mits/fa85dfcc07f42d73f9a1abf1f4c82d8bf0486a93 which would enable you to use recent TWRP builds with a LZMA compressed ramdisk.
I hope i presented it clearly and in the right way,
Have a nice day!
EDIT: Minimized patch for LZMA is available here: https://review.lineageos.org/c/LineageOS/android_device_sony_common/+/252923

Hi, I can't open your thread in XDA Labs app, I suppose that's the case of many people and that's why there is not much views and comments on this thread.
I didn't tried yet your ROM but it sound great and will try it ASAP.
Also which recovery do you recommend to avoid errors like error 7 (if I remember) ?
Also will you continue to work on RR ?
EDIT : after posting this comment via browser, I can now open this thread in XDA Labs
EDIT 2 : everything is working

To be honestly I can't follow you. Do you mean that you don't know how to update the build? For this case you have to download manually and flash it in TWRP. There are no wipes needed.
Hi, thanks for this and how is the battery performance?
Any plans for making an LineageOS for microG rom?
Thanks for the ROM, I am using it right now, everything is working good except the camera. Can take photos, but video is not working. When I'm switching to video, the app is freezing and stuck. I tried to use the stock camera with magisk, it can't take photos or video neither. Tried manual camera too, it can take photos but no video.

Installation Guide
It's mandatory to be on the latest miui a11 official firmware of your region
Clean flash recommended
Always make a nandroid backup, be safe.
ROM uses O.S.S. vendor and Soviet Star kernel
* FOR those who don't want encryption, no need to flash any dfe zip as rom is already decrypted by default so please dont flash any dfe zips
* If users were encrypted on their previous roms they need to FORMAT DATA in recovery first
its FORMAT and not WIPE understand the difference, if you dont format data the rom will bootloop as you have previous rom encryption.
- Clean flash recommended
- Use the latest official orange fox recovery from here
- Format data if coming from encrypted rom
- Wipe all the following
* Dalvik / ART Cache
* Cache
* System
* Vendor
* Data
- Flash latest miui a11 firmware for your specific region
* Global | China | Europe Firmware
* India Firmware
- Flash VoltageOS + Gapps
- Do not reboot in between flash everything at once, also no need to flash any dfe zip the rom is already decrypted by default.
- Wipe Dalvik / ART Cache, Cache & Data
- Reboot
* For those who want to use rom with encryption
This rom comes with FBE V1 encryption so those who have come from fbe v2 roms need to compulsory FORMAT DATA else it will bootloop due to fbe version mismatch.
As decryption of internal storage is now fixed on a12 you will need different recovery to flash the rom and only this recovery can encrypt/decrypt rom, other recovery wont work.
Special thanks to @Pranav Talmale for making a12 decryption work with FBE v1 all credits goes to him for the recovery
- Clean flash recommended
- Use Ofox recovey with a12 decryption fixed from here
- Format data
- Wipe all the following
* Dalvik / ART Cache
* Cache
* System
* Vendor
* Data
- Flash latest miui a11 firmware for your specific region
* Global | China | Europe Firmware
* India Firmware
- Flash VoltageOS + Gapps + EFE
- Do not reboot in between flash all zip at once
- Wipe Dalvik / ART Cache, Cache & Data
- Reboot

Gapps are not included in ROM. So you can flash without gapps.
The only problem I found in this release is pathetic screen on time and my phone back is also getting heated during normal usuage. Which earlier was not the case. May be due to other kernel issue.

How to Install(Follow All Instruction)
(Dont Report Bugs if you dont follow below Instructions)
Android 13 Release Notes/Installation Guide
1. Clean Flash
• Clean flash is mandatory: you are required to backup all of your existing data to your computer or your preferred cloud service and avoid using nandroid backup.
2.Flash TWRP
• Flash the new TWRP Recovery made by Zeelog : ( Mandatory)due to various changes in fstab file and encryption implementation, you are required to flash the new TWRP of which the link is undermentioned
Link
3. Wipe and format Device ( Both are different)
• After you flash and boot into the new TWRP recovery, format data and reboot to the recovery again.
Now, wipe all the partitions (i.e. system, vendor, data, internal storage). Wiping Internal might throw an error because of missing /data/media/ which is okay, reboot to recovery again.
This format data and wiping of other partitions is required only once every clean flash.
NB : encryption is now enabled by default and that is why a clean flash would cost you a data format.
4.Flash ROM and Gapps
*To use internal storage for transferring files from PC
From TWRP > tap Advanced > Terminal > run command: mkdir -p /data/media/0/
• Copy the latest releases LineageOS 20.0 Android 13 rom and latest NikGapps (optional) (basic edition is preferred) to your internal storage/otg media/sd card etc.
Flash the rom + gapps (if you need) using the usual method.

Best ROM for mido currently. Even on 3GB version this ROM is very fast and doesn't lag over time.
I can't get the alarm to sound.
I have tried with the sound enabled, with vibration, with do not disturb, in no case if the screen is off the alarm sounds.
It happens to someone else?
Thank you
I've been using it since it was first published. I haven't noticed any problem so far. Thank you to those who contributed.

The Clock app works with no problem for me. You should give it all necessary permissions if you haven't done it.
Huge thanks for your work
It worked very well on October version but new November causes Pixel Luncher stop working and Recent button acting strange. I use other launcher with November version. I tried few different fixes founded on few websites but any of them don't work. I have to reflash October update and everything works very well. I haven't tried only clean flash with November version yet. I'm not sure what else I can do.
It worked very well on my device,but battery charges slowly,just 5V 1A.
Screen recorder does not record sound.,but thanks anyway,probably the best room for Mido

Thx for the rom <3
thanks for continuing to support this superb phone.
I followed the instructions in detail and my device boots into TWRP. I have done the process 5 or 6 times installing the gapps as without and it does the same, I have downloaded the ROM again and nothing. Help!!!

You have to buy new original cable.

Yes, I am using Nikgapps, specifically the basic ones. I even flashed the rom without Gapps and I have the same result.

Installation Guide
It's mandatory to be on the latest miui a11 official firmware of your region
Clean flash recommended
Always make a nandroid backup, be safe.
ROM uses O.S.S. vendor
* Dalvik / ART Cache
* Cache
* System
* Vendor
* Data
- Flash latest miui a11 firmware for your specific region
* Global | China | Europe Firmware
* India Firmware
- Use Ofox recovey with a13 decryption fixed from here
- Format data
- Wipe all the following
* Dalvik / ART Cache
* Cache
* System
* Vendor
* Data
- Flash latest miui a11 firmware for your specific region
* Global | China | Europe Firmware
* India Firmware
- Flash VoltageOS + Gapps + EFE
- Do not reboot in between flash all zip at once
- Wipe Dalvik / ART Cache, Cache & Data
- Reboot

Thanks for the wonderful rom @Pranav Temkar
This is the best A13 rom so far, fluid, battery friendly.
I've just found a couple of bugs (not real bugs).
Vibration icon is not there on statusbar lockscreen, but it's showing on home screen. Also alarm icon is not there on homescreen nor on lockscreen, nomatter if you enable it or disable it...
And please make earspeaker more louder in calls...
Thanks again, keep up the good work!

They're not bugs but google features. On some other a13 roms you have the option to make vibrate & alarm icons always visible.
