Introduction
Some of you may know me from my H2O2 accent color mod for OOS. To further add customization to OOS, I have made another mod. This is inspired by substratum themes that add beautiful backgrounds to Quick settings panel. So I decided to make a mod to add this functionality
Features
- Based on VRTheme engine
- Cross compatibility with any other mods that you may be using like my own H2O2 mod or the ones made by KPChuck or v.konvict
- Support for op3 and 3T
Instructions
Please not that not following these properly will make your systemUI to crash at boot
First of all, you need to create a folder named "QS" in your Internal Storage (/sdcard)
Within the QS folder, you need to have a .png file that will serve as your background image. Rename this file as customqs.png (dont add double extensions)
Recommended dimensions for customqs.png image are 1080*800 pixels.
You can use snapseed or picsart to crop your images and jpg2png.com to convert your jpgs to pngs
Remember to only use pngs. jpgs are not supported
Once you are done setting up everything, just flash customqs.zip and reboot
To change image, delete the png from QS folder and add new image. Then flash zip again

Zip contains a few ready to use pngs. Just extract the images in QS folder and remove the number (1), (3) etc at the end of their names and then flash CustomQS.zip
Some more pngs by @neildalal

Awesome. Thanks for the great continuous work
I tried flashing this: made QS folder, extracted the qs folder that you uploaded into it, removed the (1) from one of the pngs. But after flashing this my phone booted up to a black screen. I got out of it by re-flashing my black theme mod in recovery. Do you know what's going wrong?

I flashed stock systemUI and then this mod. Working fine at my end
New version available, check post #30, it is flash and go. Unified version Magisk & System. No need to flash Mount Magisk. For systemless install only keep active my modules on magisk.
Old version:
I made two versions of this mod to work with my two magisk module.
CustomQS Magisk (H2O2-Color module only)
CustomQS Magisk (Black Notifications)
If you use both my modules use Black Notifications version
How to flash:
Remember to create the dir QS on sdcard and copy the file .png like ungeeked said.
Boot Twrp
Flash Mount Magisk
Flash one of the two zip
No need of a revert script, you can just reflash my module.
@ungeeked I have problem with @v.konvict theme and this mod. The notifications turn white after the flash. I tried also the original zips and it's the same. I think something broke the theme. However Custom QS works great.
Edit: fixed in v0.5, please read post #17

OK, thanks
If you want to put in the OP the zips I made. Revert zip is not needed in magisk because you can overflash the module.
However great work.
I upload in H2O2 thread the magisk version and I go to bed.
@ungeeked
I just got a great idea for a QS Background.
You mentioned in a previous post that this will also support transparency, right?
What about a png that starts of at the top with the same color as the QS header
and slowly fades into a ~50% transparency gradient?!

Png supports transparency. So yes you can create a transparent gradient in Photoshop and use it.
This is the exact reason I posted this. Possibilities are limitless.
New version will remove incompatibility with other mods, probably all oos N version will be supported.
Uploading a test build. It should work fine.
Edit: link updated in OP (V0.5)
I have removed dependency on resources.arsc by using a png already present in systemui. Thanks OnePlus for all the bloat. It may appear a crude method but now it this should work fine with any other mods including dark notification ones. Also may work with ob12. Please test and report. Thank you

CustomQS v0.5 Magisk for H2O2-Color only module
@ungeeked now the mods works great :good:. Later today I'll unify my two zips and I'll make an automatic choice between Magisk and system mod(your original). I'll try also to make the zip auto-sufficient importing Magisk mount onto the zips.

The two versions are due my modules have two different folder in Magisk. If you see the script you can see that black notifications looks in /magisk/Black while H2O2 only looks in /magisk/Color. I can't change the folder name of the modules because Magisk doesn't allow me to have only one module with your work and v.konvict one. However I found a solution to that but I need a computer, I'm at the university right now. I'll make also a pre-work for when you completely switch to VRThemeEngine on H2O2

I'm currently running Cyanogen 5.08 on my N1 and decided to try the Metamorph application. I was having trouble finding any themes that said they were 5.08 compatible so I decided to try one that was listed as 5.06 compatible but after rebooting I kept getting force close messages so obviously something went wrong.
I'm new to Metamorph and just followed the intructions of unziping and then installing the theme.
I'm really interested in the Kspec theme but interested in any that might work on 5.08. Do I need to install them a different way because I am using CM? Thanks for any help on this.
For CM 5.0.8 or 5.0.7 just remove any xml's from the theme before you apply it. Since these 2 versions of CM have the abilities to change notification/status bar text colors you don't need those xml's. At least you could do this until the particular themer updates their theme.
Just remove all xml's and leave *only* the images.
If I delete all xml files how do I install the theme? Don't I need to select the main xml file to select within the Metamorph application when it asks me which theme to install?
Does this mean just delete the xml files embedded in the different folders?
Thanks
No, deleting the xml is definetely false.
Delete the services folder in the theme and the folder /framework-res/res/layout folder.
In Cyanogen 5.0.8 you can change the text colour in spare parts.
Or you will have a look in my themes. They all work with this rom, too.

you know? I'm still on cm5.0.6 for GlassBar but now I can move to cm5.0.8
before I tried to change clock and date color but I have to use windows OS to

thanks
Ok I tried using glass bar but I'm still having problems. Its begins to install but when it gets to "Applying framework-res.apk theme 7 of 7" it just stays there indefinitely. My phone doesn't freeze or anything or ask me to force close the app so I'm confused.
Could it be that I'm running a custom kernal along with CM 5.08?

just wait tel restart the UI and will apply , if you not got full glass just re-apply
only the last one "framework-res.apk"
Yes, right. It should work.
Play a bit with the applying speed in metamorphs settings.
Or look at the first post. I've added some helping manual with problems at metamorphing in my theme threads.

Hi all. This theme is for those who are still on Overcome 1.4.X due to various reasons. For myself I'm still on Overcome 1.4.X because of the contacts issue. So since there's no theme for Overcome 1.4.X, I've decided to port Rainbow Ng's theme for Overcome 1.6.X to Overcome 1.4.X (found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1050118). For those interested, you can take a look at the screenies at the link provided.
I've edited some stuffs according to my own preference like removing the words from the quick toggle in the notification pulldown and some other miscellaneous stuffs.
And as usual, I'm not responsible if this theme screws your tab upside down. It works for me so I believe it will work for everybody on Overcome 1.4.X as well.
Instructions:
1. Backup your current framework-res.apk or just backup the whole system using cwm if you dunno what you're doing.
2. Download the .zip
3. Flash the zip using recovery.
Easy. When you flash, you'll see that the "Pretty patch for Overcome ver 1.6.1 & 0". DO NOT PANIC. It's fine. I hijacked his .zip file cos I do not know how to make a flashable zip myself.
AGAIN. THIS IS ONLY FOR THOSE WHO ARE ON OVERCOME 1.4.X ONLY.
If you don't like the theme after flashing, pull the framework-res.apk and the respective system apps from Overcome 1.4.X full rom(not update) and replace them into the .zip which u downloaded from this thread and then flash it.
If you want the theme only and not the black background settings, just pull the respective system apps from Overcome 1.4.X full rom and replace it in the .zip which u downloaded from this thread and then flash it.
If you want the black settings page, pull the framework-res.apk from Overcome1.4.X full rom and replace it into the .zip file which u downloaded from this thread and then flash it.
Download:
V1.1 - http://www.multiupload.com/PBRPYSYRCM
credits to:
rainbow ng for his great theme.
Galaxyer for his help with .xml stuffs.
alterbridge86 for the great rom.
zenkinz for black accounts page.
Hit me some thanks if you appreciate the port. thanks And if you find any problems, post it here and I'll try to fix it if i know how to.
V1.1[10/05/11]
- fixed accounts and settings to have black page. individual accounts now have black background.
- changed the color of the secondary text of accounts (under "Manage accounts") to blue. The texts "Sync is ON/OFF" are now blue in color instead of white.
- fixed download provider to have white text when downloading an app from the market.
V1.0 [06/05/11]
- initial port.
Thank you kay but could you please post the original 1.4.x framework as flashable zip in case god forbid things go south or if someone doesnt like.
EDIT also put [MOD] if you dont mind in thread title. Great job btw

does anyone else have the same problem?

Yes I suggest you copy the existing SystemUI.apk and framework-res.apk from the target folders before replacing them with the modded ones and store them safe in your internal storage or probably on your computer.
Later in order to restore it, follow the similar procedure as I've mentioned above.
Thanks and cheers Nex23!

Sure and thanks for a lot for telling.
I'll try fixing it.
I'm sorry but while you're at it can you make a seperate zip with only white animated nav bar and blue framework-res? Reason being I already installed other mods and I fear some that you have included might clash with mods I've installed. Sorry if it's a hassle on your part. Thank you in advance.

Pixel's Colors
Thank you so much for working on this, theLazyGeek!
For those interested in Pixel's Dark Blue colors, I had decompiled, edited and re-compiled the framework-res.apk for myself and am sharing it here.
All it does it change the system, settings and keyboard colors to match the Pixel's dark blue - no other things are touched.
Steps: copy and paste in /system/. Change permissions to 644.
Paste in /system/framework/ (replace the original one). Do a soft-reboot. Voila!
Only works on Nexus5X running NPF10C.
Edit: It seems I cannot post URLs since I'm a new user! Can anyone recommend how I can share the file with those who need it?
Thanks!

Thanks!

Can you please elaborate the steps to replace the framework-res.apk as I am scared to try it out
Thanks!
At this stage, I feel you have two options:
1. Wait for theLazyGeek (OP) to post the new zip file which you can flash from a recovery. He said he'll be putting this up soon.
2. If you can't wait, you can even take the framework-res apk file and put it in the framework folder in the original ZIP (in the first post of this thread) and flash that to get the dark blue color.
Make sure you make a Nandroid before either, though. Strongly recommended! :good:

I've flashed other mods like the pixel mod and the google assistant build.prop tweak. At this stage I only need the pixel's dark blue accent to complete my pixelised nexus 5x.
So please tell me how to replace the stock framework-res.apk with the custom apk.
I am using root explorer.

Nice work bro
May I ask, is this apk deodexed? If no, can you check what will be if you wipe cache/dalvik-cache through recovery (or replace apk through TWRP file manager)? Wouldn't phone stuck in bootloop?
Because I'm actually made my own centeredclock/colors/noindicators h2o2 version with deoxeded apk though. And it *lol* even boots.
Nice Work Thanks a Lott

it's just normal settings mod apk and it's not deodexed
Replace it with stock so clearing cache will not end up in bootloop and the boot time is the same

Dunno, now using deoxeded sysui & settings apks with no problems while when I was using odexed modified apks I was getting bootloop after wiping cache/dalvik-cache. Even if I just replace apks through TWRP file manager in recovery and give it proper permissions it was giving me bootloop.
With deoxeded apks I have all things working.
