[Rom] [Verizon_TMO_Hybrid_Nougat_Rom_FlashFire_Install][Status Official] [S7flat] - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S7 ROMs, Kernels, Recoverie

Yet again, all thanks go to @jrkruse for this one. I have modified his zip to work on the Verizon S7 flat. The ROM is silky smooth since it uses the factory kernel. I'm going to tweak his instructions to work for the flat. I can confirm that SafetyNet passes using this method.

Install Instructions From Any Build
Warning: This will wipe your device. Some of these instructions are redundant, but they will ensure that everything goes as planned. If you don't follow them to the T, don't complain.
1) Unzip G930TUVS4BQC1_TMB4BQC1_TMB_T-Mobile_USA_7.0.zip. Boot the phone into download mode(Volume down, home, and power) then flash all four files(BL, AP, CP, and HOME_CSC) with ODIN. The phone will reboot into recovery and throw an error. Reboot into download mode and reflash HOME_CSC again.- Thanks @thefirst__noel
2) Don't bother logging into any accounts, as the phone will get wiped again. Copy the FlashFire.apk, AP_G930TUVS4BQC1_CL10376601_QB12919907_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT_meta.tar.md5, and VZW_TMO_HYBRID_PLAYSTORE_BS_FREE_QC1_V13_VZWS7FLAT.zip to Internal Storage.- Thanks @appye
3) Make sure secure boot is turned off!!! Shut off the phone and boot into download mode (volume down, home, and power). Flash the S7 Nougat root kernel in the AP slot in Odin.
4) When the phone reboots, unlock developer options and enable USB debugging. Unzip the S7_SU_2_79_Root_Unroot_WO_Tweaks.zip and run root.bat from your PC. May need to right-click and run as administrator.
5) Now install FlashFire. In FlashFire, select add flash firmware package and choose AP_G930TUVS4BQC1_CL10376601_QB12919907_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT_meta.tar.md5 and make sure all partitions are checked. Then add flash zip or ota and choose VZW_TMO_HYBRID_PLAYSTORE_BS_FREE_QC1_V13_VZWS7FLAT.zip and tap mount system when FlashFire asks.
VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: MAKE SURE TO UNCHECK INJECT ROOT AFTER ADDING THE ZIP!!!!!!!- Thanks @dclutter1
8) The phone will restart and FlashFire will flash the firmware first, then the Aroma Installer will start.
9) In Aroma, select wipe ALL data(DO NOT KEEP SU)-----See notes below.
10) The phone will say custom status on first boot, but it goes away after setup and reboot.
Notes: If you are installing the S8 apps in V13, then you will get a bunch of force closes from everything. Your best bet is to pull down on the notification panel, click the settings button, and go into applications and clear data for everything that is force closing. If you keep data, you will run into issues with Advanced Calling and other features. Keep data at your own risk. If you don't wipe data, then please don't post issues in the thread.
-When going from BS_FREE QB1 to QC1, I was able to keep my settings and data by choosing keep data in Aroma. I still pass SafetyNet. I can't guarantee that this will work for everyone, but you can try if you want. This probably will not work if you are coming from MM. If you decide to take this route and have issues, do a full wipe and reinstall before posting any problems.

@jrkruse is the man to ask. I don't have the new unlimited data plan yet, so I can't be certain.

why use hosts file to block ads when we have adhell and disconnect pro that have actual app interfaces?

Upon further work, I got to aroma and selected Wipe data without Su. And it locked the phone. It keeps rebooting to that blue screen "Security Error. This phone has been flashed with unauthorized software & is locked

Yeah I came across that. Then I reflashed the"Nougat_S7_Flat_EngBoot.tar.md5" File and it booted right up.
So far it is smooth. Just need to figure out root on it

There is one thing though.
The camera app is funky. It doesnt let me access settings. It keeps scrolling to the bottom and then going back to camera. Settings wont stay open
**Edit**
I had to turn off "Dont keep activities" off to make it work

If you flashed the eng kernel, then you are already halfway to root. All you gotta do is run root.bat lol. You must have chosen T-Mobile, because it will boot without the eng kernel on Verizon. I haven't played with the T-Mobile side of it.
It's funny that people want to root this, as the point of it is to modify the system without being rooted, allowing you to run the factory kernel and pass SafetyNet.

Fyi, I definitely chose Verizon during the installation and I had to flash the eng kernel to get it to boot as well.
Other than that, so far so good!

Something is wrong.
1) Did you flash ALL AP partitions in FlashFire?
2) Did you choose to wipe all data, including SU?
3) Did you download the zip I linked or the one from jrkruse thread.
4) Did you flash the BL, AP, and CP with Odin prior to doing any of this.
I flashed this zip multiple times before uploading it and didn't have to flash the eng kernel to boot afterwards. I'm running the stock kernel, which is embedded in the zip.

Sorry, I didn't see this post before I replied to the last one.
I followed the instructions to a T. I figured out my problem though; In flashfire, I needed to remove the "inject root" (or whatever it's called) line that it automatically adds after step 6. It booted normally after doing that.
Thanks for the help

****! You are absolutely right! I made that mistake before. I added that to the list of instructions in the OP. Thanks! I think that is what was causing the issue for everyone.

Hello, I thought it might be more appropriate to ask here instead.... Do you plan on rebuilding this with jkruse's upcoming update that includes the option to disable the custom hosts file? I prefer to adblock with an app so I can create whitelists, etc.,

Does anything in this NOT work so far? Calls, texts, sounds etc?

[ROM][Stock][Rooted] D850 20f Stock ROM Debloated

Updated: 03/24/2015
Hi all,
I did this mostly for practice but I thought it might be helpful so I went ahead and posted.
Stock LG D850 20f ROM
[*]Rooted/SuperSu
[*]Most bloat removed
[*]Oversharpening fix
[*]Flashable zip
[*]init.d support*
[*]CarrierIQ Remover*
*Init.d support is implemented in ROM only, not the kernel. CarrierIQ is removed automatically after first boot via an init script. Say thanks to @skeevydude for his help in getting this done. I shouldn't say "help", he pretty much did it!
Installation
Flash the Lollipop modem - see @autoprime 's thread here for modem zip
Flash the ROM zip
Wipe cache and dalvik (and in some cases data) if coming from a different ROM
Download
v3* - https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934548695
[QRCODE]https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934548695[/QRCODE]
*No change at all to the ROM itself since v2, I just realized that I've been forgetting to zero out the free space on the image file before uploading, which saves about 600 MB when zipped. New flashable zip is about 1.1 GB instead of 1.7 GB.
Older versions:
v1 - https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934543883
Apps Removed
/system/app:
Google Books
Google Chrome
Google Cloud Print
Google Drive
Facebook
Hangouts
Google Newsstand
Google Play Games
Google Play Music
Google Play Movies and TV
Google Plus
Twitter
/system/priv-app:
ATT Address Book
ATT Caller Name ID
ATT DriveMode
ATT Games
ATT Locker
ATT Lookout
ATT Mobile Locate
ATT Remote Support
ATT Smart Wifi
ATT Mobile TV
ISIS Wallet
ATT Visual Voicemail
MLT (LG tracker)
/system/vendor/app:
Amazon Kindle
ATT Family Map
ATT Home
ATT Keeper
ATT MHS Launcher
ATT Navigator
Uber
DeviceHelp
myATT
YP Mobile
ATT Apps
In case you want some of the ATT apps back, I have uploaded a zip here with those apps. This is NOT a flashable zip. You have a couple of options:
1. You may be able to install these as a normal (user) app by just pulling out the apk and installing the usual way.
2. If that doesn't work as expected, copy the app folder from the zip into the appropriate system folder as listed in the "Apps Removed" section.

cmulk said:
Xposed has a couple of bad side effects at this point, so before doing anything you need to use Titanium or something similar to Freeze (this basically what the "helper" does):
LGSmartCover
Weather
Weather Theme
WeatherPlatform
Then you can install xposed as in the thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811
However, there is still one more bug to keep in mind: Xposed will crash the Tethering and Networks menu. There is no fix for that yet, but as a workaround you can download some apps from the play store (like Mobile Network Settings), to shortcut around the menu that force closes.

Credits
@autoprime - Flashable zips, bump'd boot.img, and very clear instructions in his thread here
@timmytim - uploading the lollipop stock images (although I know a lot of others were working on that too)
@Skin1980 - Oversharpening fix
@skeevydude - init.d support and carrierIQ remover
CarrierIQ Removal
CarrierIQ has now been removed!
The removal is done via an init script that runs at boot to disable the IQ service before removing the files in order to prevent a force close. However, if you have to wipe data/factory reset without re-flashing the ROM, you will get a force close on the first boot. The good news is that I've tested this scenario and it should fix itself if you just wait about 20 seconds. In other words, the mentioned script does it's thing to stop the service to fix the force close and you are good to go after that.
Old info below:
cmulk said:
On the 20f lollipop rom (either mine or stock, there's no difference) either freezing LADDM or removing the libraries and LADDM as you mention will cause a force close unless you disable the "IQService" first, which is built into the framework-res.apk. I have repeated it multiple times and it has been discussed quite a bit in the Lounge and other threads. Disabling the service is easy for users to do with the "DisableService" app, and then you can remove LADDM and the libraries as mentioned. The difficulty is that disabling a service is a user setting, so, for example, if I reflash my ROM without the IQ files onto a phone with clean /data, I will again get the force close and an unusable ROM.

Manual Steps
In the meantime, here is how users can manually disable CarrierIQ. I take no credit for this method, it is posted in several places by several people, I'm just putting it here for convenience:
YOU MUST DO THIS IN ORDER (or at least the first few steps)
1. Download the "DisableService" app from the play store
2. In the DisableService app, go to System -> Android System and disable the "IQService" service
3. Use a root explorer to delete the folder /system/app/LADDM
4. Use a root explorer to delete /system/lib/libiq_client.so and /system/lib/libiq_service.so
5. (Optional) Uninstall DisableService
Remember, disabling the service is a user setting, so if you need to wipe /data for some reason, you will need to re-flash the ROM (which has the CarrierIQ files included) or else you will get a constant force close when your phone boots.
I'll give it a try, thanks
Flashing now. Will report.
I will be watching this ROM. Thanks for posting.
Exactly what does " if coming from a different ROM" mean? I'm on 4.4.2 10f Wulf (stock - rooted) ROM

Thanks for your work. I wish I had some skill in this realm. It'd be nice to pick and choose which apps you wanted removed. But great job in getting something debloated out there.

Flashing lollipop Issues
Thanks for your work.... When flashing the 2 lollipop roms, 9 out of 10 times I get just a screen with icons, no wallpaper, no notification pull down no buttons at the bottom. I flash the modem the rom then SU and clear cache. I have only got the other ROM to flash successfully once. The same is going on with this ROM, is this happening to anyone else. I flashed it 5 times with the same results, would anyone know why this is happening, seems others dont have this issue. Thank you again for bringing us a debloated Lollipop rom.

Here is what I understand for a clean flash:
"1. Boot into Recovery
2. Make a Nandroid backup
3. Wipe data/factory reset
4. Wipe cache partition
5. Wipe Dalvik Cache
6. Flash ROM
7. DO NOT REBOOT – STAY IN RECOVERY
8. Select backup and restore
9. Select advanced restore
10. Select the Nandroid backup you made above
11. Select Restore data
12. Select Yes – Restore data
13. WAIT!
14. REBOOT"
What I do not understand is step 8, which selects the backup made in step two... and then flashing the backup over the (new) ROM flash in step 6. Wouldn't that overwrite the new ROM you just flashed?

I have not seen that issue, but in case you are not clearing data you may need to try clearing dalvik cache.
Also, (and this is just a shot in the dark) you could try formatting system before doing anything else just in case something strange is left behind there.

You can try dirty flashing first without losing any of your data.
1. Back up your current Boot and System
2. Back up your current modem (if you're coming from the Kitkat modem), or just download a flashable KK modem already posted on XDA
3. Flash the modem and ROM in this post
4. Wipe cache and dalvik
5. See if it works
If it's not working, then you will need to restore your boot, system, and modem to go back to your original kitkat setup without losing data.
Otherwise, you'll have to backup with Titanium and do a clean flash (wipe data) as already mentioned. Using Titanium makes clean flashing not so bad
I do clear Wipe cache and dalvik I wipe everything and it boots back into a desktop and thats it no notification, the same thing happened with the first lollipop.. but after 10 flashes it finally took... so I thought Id try your de-bloated and the same thing is happening again, not sure why this is. I can jump back to kk after flashing the modem without issues. Thank you again for your work.

I agree that I use most or all of these Google apps as well. However, they update so often anyway that I prefer to just have them as user apps (otherwise you end up with 2 copies - the old static version in the system apps folder, and the updated version in the user apps folder).
As for the visual voicemail, I have posted the ATT apps in a zip in the OP. Visual voicemail is in the VVM_ATT folder.
Thanks!

Sure thing! That's actually what I meant to do in post 13. I am not sure if you can flash over 10f without wiping data, but you could give it a try without losing anything (except time) if you look at post 13.
You should clear cache and dalvik mostly any time you are flashing, unless you are just flashing over another stock 20f ROM.

Thanks I do clear everything but my external mem.
Ever since flashing this I'm getting "no sd card" messages every time I try to download anything ( I don't have an external sd card) but it's never been a problem before. I've restored a backup of my stock Tim and the problem followed me after full wipes.

I'll leave the Chinese .img file just incase anybody wants to use flashify. Remember to add the TWRP theme in Post #3 to covert to English.
How to Install: TWRP
Unzip the file and it will include a .tar and a .img file. (Chinese Version)
Using odin:
Download and install the drivers
Download Odin
Leave Auto reboot and F. Reset Time checked
Absolutely do not check repartition
Click AP/PDA
Navigate to the recovery.tar
Click Start
Hold down the home and volume up button when it reboots
Rinse and repeat if TWRP does not install
Using Flashify:
Download Flashify from Google
Under the FLASH tab using the Flashify app click Recovery Image.
Find the img file you just downloaded for your specific device.
Click on the img file then you will be prompted with a Flash Recovery? screen.
Click YUP if you would like to continue with the flash or MAYBE NOT... if you chose the wrong file or have changed your mind.
If you chose to continue flashing you will see a working box which says Flashing...
A box which says Flash Completed will show after flash is complete.
Click Reboot Now.
Done!

For starters HOW TO INSTALL a ROM by SAC23
This assumes that you ALREADY have TWRP Recovery installed on your phone and you know how to use it.
Download the ROM of choice...move it onto the EXT SD CARD.
VERY IMPORTANT>>> Move all music, pics, important data from internal storage to the ext SD card and/or to your pc, etc. because during this process, the internal will be completely erased.
Recommended Method to Flash SACS Custom ROMS using TWRP
Boot into TWRP
Select Wipe > Advanced Wipe
Select Dalvik, System, Data, Internal Storage, and Cache. Swipe to Wipe (do this THREE TIMES)
Go back to previous Advanced Wipe screen.
Select Format Data, Type YES, Press GO. (do this THREE TIMES)
Go back to previous Advanced Wipe screen.
Swipe to Factory Reset. (do this THREE TIMES)
Go back to MAIN menu and STOP HERE !!!!! READ NEXT STEP CAREFULLY....
[*]Select REBOOT INTO RECOVERY mode and Swipe to Install Super User. DO NOT REBOOT INTO SYSTEM!
[*]AFTER THE PHONE REBOOTS INTO RECOVERY:
NOW proceed with installing The ROM
Select Install Zip, Drill down to Sac23's Rom you want to flash, and Swipe to install.
Follow on screen instructions (if there are any).
When prompted, REBOOT SYSTEM.
THE FIRST BOOT WILL TAKE A MINIMUM OF 20 MINUTES..... SOME DEVICES EVEN LONGER...
.
.
HAVE PATIENCE
When the Home Screen appears and it is obvious that the install has completed, allow the phone to settle for another 10 minutes BEFORE you begin setting up your personal preferences and accounts.
If everything seems normal, set your phone up and profit.
IF IT WON'T BOOT....try pulling battery and replacing battery then restart phone and you should see "Android Updating"
After setting up your personal info and you are now ready, the first thing you should always do after flashing any ROM is to go to settings, system updates, and refresh/update your PRL & PROFILE then reboot the phone. Second thing is go to settings, more networks, mobile networks, network mode, and select LTE/CDMA.

Thanks @ram9200
Why wipe sdcard? Is it because the rom is deodexed? Cant i just wipe cache, delvak and system?
Edit: flashed without wiping internal storage. All seems good so far.

I get it to but just cancel or ignore it completely. Atleast Hotspot works
Hey has any of the few people figured out the rotation issue? Mine seems to be ROM related because if I Odin back to stock it works fine. Atleast I know it's not hardware related like some seemed to think.
Black and white home screen
can anybody tell me why my home screen is black and white? I woke up yesterday and it must have happened while it was in my pocket, shortly before I went to sleep. I've looked around in settings and other things, but I can't seem to find the cause. someone to tell me how to get back to normal, it would be appreciated!

Thanks, added to OP.
I converted this to a flashable zip with a script in it, but the setup wizard gets really pissed off. Anyone know how to disable that? I've looked around and nothing I've found thusfar works. I'd like to be able to modify it so I can flash it without having to boot the ROM first.
Thanks.
Nevermind, I wasn't deleting SamsungSetupWizard.apk. If I do that, it's fine.
The 'extreme' version is attached. ACtually, don't download it yet. Well, you can, but it's not the one I Wanted to upload. I think it's still on my sdcard. I'll get to it later.
@muniz_ri, would you please add the VZW Accessories and YouTube apps to the script? I'd recommend they go under Light and Medium, respectively.
I'll of course be installing YouTube from the Play Store, but it's nice to be able to move the app to SD once it's out of ROM, plus it's not an essential app that's required immediately following a wipe.

Whenever I have the time to really go through it all, I will release a doubleplusextreme version that, ideally, will leave you with a play store and some tools. heh. What I'm going to try to do is split groups of files out from the original ROM into their own flashable zips.
OK, so I've used Extreme twice and both times, afterward, if I go to recovery, wipe cache/wipe data and reboot, the Setup app fails to complete successfully. Setup fails right after Google account setup and the app keeps restarting preventing getting to the homescreen.
Something in Extreme is not stable.
So far I only know how to get out of this loop by odin to 4.4.4, towelroot, flash OV5, then OE1 and try again.

The debloater has only been tested after the device has gone through the setup wizard.
Can anyone else validate that the extreme option makes the device unstable after a factory data reset? thx

The problem with Extreme is that it doesn't delete both setup wizards. You can use the flashable zip I posted instead--that should work.

Yeah, I vouch for that. The problem is that it doesn't delete SamsungSetupWizard _and_ SetupWizard, so one tries to invoke the other, fails, and restarts.
The flashable zip I uploaded works--unelss I uploaded the wrong one from my mess of a 'work' directory.

Thanks, I have added the setupwizard, youtube and accessories apps.
I can confirm that Extreme now accepts a factory data reset. Thanks!! This really is a great time saver.
A couple of thoughts on the script execution: I find I have to run it twice to get the list of apps to scroll in the command window and to fully clear out the apps from the device. May be associated with the timing of the USB debugging request on the device and when the commands are sent.
For future feature, it would be helpful to have a popup on the device to indicate completion and status, e.g. "x of y apps successfully deleted", etc. I don't even know if that's possible via adb.
There could be a level above "Extreme", which is basically removal of anything which is not integral to the system booting and, let's say, running apps you install which don't require Samsung-specific features/support.
Maybe call it "Ludicrous" ("Ludicrous Speed" from "Spaceballs") or "Slash-and-burn"? It should leave you with a play store and the phone app, maybe.

The tool will only show an message/error if there was an issue deleting a file, so if you go from starting the process to seeing "done!" without any error message in between you can assume there were no errors and all files were successfully deleted.
Any issue with updates in the future?
Will there be any issue with updates in the future if I am debloated? I remember debloating a while back causing all sorts of issues.

Verified. I did the extreme debloat and then a factor reset. Setup failed after logging into gmail. Only fix was to go back to NCG and root and flash back to OE1
I have a flashable zip that I have tested, and it works, but only if I use Safestrap or tell Flashfire (by using "mount common paths") to mount /system beforehand.

There has to be some stupid error in there. I also attempted to do what you did in the ROM zip with wipedata.sh, and it still doesn't work. ARGH. Feeling pretty stoked at failing to run like three commands.

Oh, also, there is more stuff to delete, e.g. all of the voices for SVoice. No sense keeping that around if it's deleted. There's plenty more besides that.

[Q&A][TW][6.0.1][SM-G930F] SuperMan-Rom

Hello guys, I open a Question and Answer Thread for all SuperMan Rom users, so even users under 10 posts can ask their questions here.
Below I added some basic Q&A stuff which can also be found at the main thread, if you have any question, read through them before posting, thanks!
Q: How to get into Download Mode?
A: Power off your phone, than hold: home + volume down + power on button until you see the download mode.
Q: How to get into Recovery Mode?
A: Power off your phone, than hold: home + volume up + power on button until you see the recovery mode.
Q: My Phone is stuck at boot and doesn't start, what to do??
A: Update your bootloader and modem. Also make sure you have made a fresh install of the rom. Bootloader and Modem can be found in the OP
Q: Do I need to update bootloader and modem after every update?
A: It's recommend to update your bootloader and modem everytime there is a new base yes.
Q: Do I have to do a full wipe for the new version?
A: It is always the best option to make a clean install, otherwise please don't come and report bugs!
Q: What steps should I do to update to a new version with a full wipe but keep all data?
A: There are some different ways. One way is to make a backup with Titanium Backup, you can backup all Apps and Preferences there. Make sure to store this backup on external SD card (if you have one). The second solution is to make a /data backup in TWRP. So boot into TWRP, click on backup and than select data. After installing the rom, restore the data backup.
Q: I got FC's and other Problems with the rom, what to do?
A: Take a logcat for me, developers use to say: without a log, it never happened . A logcat can be grapped with a PC and ADB installed, simply type: adb logcat > log.txt while your phone is connected and the error is happening.
Q: I want to change something in my rom setup, how can I do that?
A: Simply reflash the same rom version without any wipe and than choose the correct things you want.
Q: Which devices are supported at the moment?
A: Current supported devices are: SM-G930F/FD/W8
Q: Is this rom working on Snapdragon 820 variants?
A: No, sadly not.
Q: Some features are not present, but they are on stock rom, so where are they?
A: In aroma installer you have the option to select bloat you want to install or not, you probably didn't select all package, this is why it's missing now.
Q: My battery life is so bad and performance is very poor, you made so a bad rom!?!?
A: This comes actually not form the rom itself, I assume you installed Xposed than, some modules can cause batterydrain and performance problems. So try to make a clean install of the rom WITHOUT xposed installed..
Q: You said you fixed SD card RW but Titanium Backup can't write to external SD card, why???
A: This is because of googles changes concerning SD card, to fix this open Titanium Backup, Menu, Preferences, Backup Folder Location, Storage provider and than hig DocumentProvider Storage and select your SD card. Problem solved
Q: I like to go back to stock rom, how is this possible?
A: I can provide you here all steps which are needed to go back to a full stock rom.
0. Make a backup and than wipe all partitions in TWRP
1. Go to Sammobile and choose your country
2. Download the file and the attached Odin on sammobile
3. After downloading, put your phone into download mode
4. Make sure drivers are installed and your pc can detect your phone in odin
5. If the box in odin turns blue, add the AP file to AP tab, BL file to BL tab, CP file to CP tab and CSC_HOME to CSC tab
6. Hit start and wait until it is finished.
7. Reboot and you have a stock rom again
Q: Will you add X or Y feature?
A: You can kindly ask in the thread for that, but when I haven't added it until now, most likely it won't be added.
Q: Help, I never had a code and now after installing the rom my phone asks for a password??
A: Your device is still encrypted, on step 0 it tells you to be sure you're not. So, what do you need to to in case you are still encrypted:
1. Install full stock rom, including stock recovery
2. Boot into stock recovery and wipe data (stock recovery can wipe that, twrp not as it doesn't support samsungs encryption)
3. After wiping in stock recovery, boot right into download mode (without booting up!)
4. Install twrp
5. Boot into TWRP (also without booting up)
6. Install the rom
Q: On TWRP there is an error about /data mount, what to do?
A: Your device is encrpyted, follow the above steps to get rid of your encryption.
Q: Where has the CSC selection gone?
A: To include all csc files, the rom get way to big, so it got it's own thread now, take a look here: CSC installer
Q: I have a weak cellular signal, what can I do against it?
A: Two things: first, install your providers CSC using CSC installer and flash in TWRP or flashing stock CSC with Odin. Second Thing: You can install the modem from your provider, also find your modem on Sammobile and install it with Odin in CP tab.
Q: I selected xposed but now I don't see an app for it?
A: Maybe there went something wrong with installing the app to /data/app, xposed is installed but only the app is missing, so head over to the download page of xposed app: Material Xposed Thread
Q: I got random reboots, heeelp!
A: This is most likely from a custom kernel, if you face random reboots please check if you have the latest kernel installed or switch back to the stock kernel included in the rom.
Q: My screen is kind of yellow/orange and the touchscreen doesn't work at all!
A: You have choosen the wrong kernel in aroma selection. Reflash the rom without any wipe selecting the right kernel version.
Q: I can't save any photos to my external storage?
A: This happens if you install another kernel than superkernel or stock kernel. I made some changes in ramdisk to get the saving to external storage working. Maybe you can kindly ask your kernel developer to include this fix as well in his ramdisk
Q: I want to have my external storage like an internal as well. Google introduced it with android Marshmallow, but I can't see this option?
A: Just follow this Guide here and you can setup your SD card as normal storage
Thanks for your ROM
Already sent it via PM but wanted to publish my thanks ...
Thanks for your ROM. I love it so much that I flashed it really many times. But then 2 weeks ago it was time to use it I moved all my stuff from the old S4 (CM13) to the new S7 (using Titanium Backup) which was not that big issue as I thought before (did it the first time).
So far no issues that I could not solve reading this Q&A and the developer thread. Only for one (Secure Settings root mode) I needed further help. But this one is not related to this ROM but to the systemless SuperSU mode.
Now 2 weeks later I’m 2.5 releases in the past and it is time to move to the newest release and first time to the corresponding ROM. It is downloading at the moment …
In the meantime I flashed it (1.8.1 with kernel 1.3.1) and there is a little issue: Xposed isn't working anymore. Error message "Error loading Xposed ZIP frameworks". Last time (1.6.5, stock kernel) it worked without doing anything else. I did a clean flash and restored data. Not a big issue for me because till now I don't use any module.

Backup and Restore - a Hybrid Method (Android 9)

I am developing this method because TWRP will not restore correctly ever since I upgraded my bootloader from U2 to U4.
Boot and Data will restore but System will not, so I do the following.
Backup
1. Use TWRP to backup Boot and Data and reboot
2. Use a root explorer to copy /system/app to external sd
3. Copy /system/priv-app to external sd
Debloat by deleting apps from these 2 backup files
Restore
1. Boot into TWRP and install system.img (extract from ap section of downloaded firmware for stock) or install UPie
2. Restore Boot and Data as usual
3. Go to Advanced - File Manager
4. Delete /system/system/app and /system/system/priv-app
5. Copy and paste backup app files to /system/system
6. Reboot
Note: TWRP has its own system which holds the ROM system as a sub directory.
If anyone can think of another system directory which I can backup and restore please let me know.

This is great. I have issues that caused my settings app to show extra and weird options after a restore from TWRP in the past. But since then I've updated to a new TWRP but haven't done any restoring because of what the previous one did. Hope this works when I need it to.

Not sure.
If it doesn't work it might reboot into recovery and then you need to copy and paste your own /app and /priv-app folders back in place.
@jajk
Try this
@physwizz My appetite for being screwed by Samsung and the dirty traps they lay is severely diminished. Since going to U4, I can't reliably get TWRP to work without triggering the evil red text screen of death.... I have been watching what is happening with the work on custom kernels and Ultimate Pie ROMs but definitive information on what is actually working reliably or not is very patchy..... one person will say "Yep, this definitely works" the other will say "nope can't even boot"... almost like some people don't even own this phone or have not actually tried what they are promoting or are unable to follow instructions properly....
So....starting from stock U4, I can root and install TWRP, magisk and dmverity no problems at all but after going back into the O.S and attempting to reboot into recovery a 2nd time....bang! Samsung screws me!!!! The question is.....is there a custom kernel for U4 and above that truly removes all of Samsung's dirty tricks (security features) and a custom ROM that also holds no hidden surprises?

If you're talking about the red text that talks about 'official binaries' when booting after you flash TWRP (FRP LOCK) then there's a very easy fix.
@physwizz Yes the evil red text...but it is not after flashing TWRP, it is only if you try to go back into TWRP.
I already know of one easy fix... called don't buy Samsung. All this wouldn't be a problem if manufacturers could resist the temptation to "monetize" private data but that ain't going to happen anytime soon in this dog eat dog world.....

I got that because i was using old data
solved by doing a clean install
The data was then good in future
@physwizz Went through the Samsung dance from scratch, installed UltimatePie4, rebooted into Ultimate Pie no problems, completed the initial setup.....rebooted and back to red text of death!!!
Yes, I did all the format /data etc.... it is not a procedural problem on my part but my phone has always given me more grief than you appear to have - something is different

You didn't restore old data?
Clean install?
@physwizz Did nothing but complete the initial setup after install and rebooted.....all started from a clean install of U4, then rooted and TWRP from your tar file, then installed new ROM with data freshly formatted i.e. absolutely no messing around with the stock ROM or custom ROM through the entire process and never getting to the point of rebooting into TWRP which triggered the previous red text of death.....

What does red writing say?
@physwizz Writing says "You have just been screwed by Samsung yet again" or something about official binaries which is the same thing....

I've had that twice
1. When I forced reboot before UPie was finished installing
2 when I didn't wipe caches , data and system before installing UPie
Could also be Samsung Conspiracy Theorist Detection Program (SCTDP) lol
