Is it possible to rebrand the Mate 9 from China to Europe version for free? - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

I finally got my unlock code from Huawei and now I want to fully rebrand my Mate 9 from China Version (MHA-AL00C00) to Europe Version (MHA-L29C432) so that the phone behaves exactly as an original european phone (NO HiApp, Google Services by default, European firmware updates via OTA...)
But now I see that FunkyHuawey is now a paid service (it costs 31 usd). Is there any other way to rebrand the phone right now for free or is FunkyHuawey the only method?

You already got ur first credit, one more thread and you can rebrand for free lol

Sorry for my confusion but what do you mean? How can I check if I have any credits? And how on earth do I get credits by creating more threads???

What is special about European firmware? You can rebrand for free to C636 international firmware https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/how-to/guide-rebrand-chinese-al00-mate9-to-t3554656
Only difference ia the pre installed applications that can be removed anyway.

Nothing special, only that I am from Europe and I would like the phone to behave exactly as if I have bought in on Europe. Thanks a lot for the guide gm007, but according to this region list C636 corresponds to Spcseas (?) (Asia Pacific, New Zealand), why do you define it as an "international firmware"? Can you confirm if with C636 version I will have the following please:
- No Chinese characters on some system apps that cannot be modified.
- English and Spanish language available for the UI.
- No HiApp and other related apps installed.
- Google Play + Google Services all preinstalled and working without any tricks.
- The same OTA updates as in Europe regarding new features and bug fixes.
Please confirm if this is available in C636. Thanks a lot gm007!

Most people just call it 'International' if it's not an AL00 firmware. It's just semantics.

Is there firmware update for NXT-L29C636B103?

I check the update function on my phone regularly since I bought it a couple of weeks ago and still no update.
Is it normal? I saw other thread talking about B156 and B162 and I am not sure if they are the update version or not.
I would be interested in that topic also. Got the device today, same firmware.. No updates available when clicking check update.

This is your Mate 8 model:
NXT-L29C636
You can get official OTA updates for this model only.
Other version numbers (B152, B156, B160, etc) might refer to other Mate 8 models (different market areas).
Installing different ROM versions is possible but must be done flashing manually.
Thank you for clarifying. I think I will wait for the OTA update.

OTA = Over The Air. I think it mean official download directly into your phone from the update menu.
I got mine with same firmware in Cambodia, it's the international model, only European and English/US languages, has Playstore & Google and no Chinese Bloatware. Strange, that there seems to be no update from B103...

Technically you're not forcing an update, but switching to another version of rom which has a more recent build number. You may (or may not) run into bugs when switching between rom updates designed for different markets (e.g. from C636 to C900), even if they both belongs to the 'international' (L29) version of the phone. Even if you don't run into bugs, the update may install radio firmware that is not optimized for your country, which could affect connectivity performance.
I'm still on L29C636B103 and waiting for OTA. Newer builds for L29C636 is not yet available for some reason. I think the C636 corresponds to a minor market so Huawei put it further down the line when creating newer builds. Just guessing.

rebranding c636 to c567

I have the unlocked variant and I'm running c636b158 is there anyway to flash the c567 firmware? I need volte and I'm not getting it with 636. Also is there any updates to my phone? Need a free way to rebrand. Also I am using TMobile in united States Nevada.
Any help would be appreciated.
There's a paid service that allows you to do that. Search the forum and you'll find references to it.
Advertising paid services is frowned upon so I'll refrain from further details.

This will get you to c432. Not sure how or why you would want to rebrand to C567. That is the US version and due to our lovely government, Huawei has pretty much stopped all development for US devices. I successfully went from 8.0.0 to 9.0.1.191 C432 using the method listed in the thread. You have to be rooted and have an unlocked bootloader to do it. Other than that, it is just downloading the right firmware and following the instructions the program gives you. It took me about ten minutes once I was rooted to rebrand and upgrade...
Ooops, zombie thread. Not sure this info is even needed anymore.
gotta check the dates better... LOL

Flash MHA-AL29 on MHA-AL00..is it possible?

Hello Everyone,
I have just bought a Huawei mate 9 from AliExpress, and they didnt specify if it was Chinese or International Rom.
But upon delivery i saw some Chinese text, and when i checked the Build number, it is MHA-AL00C00B175.
Can i flash the International version (i.e the AL29) firmware on my phone so that i can eliminate all these chinese apps etc ?
Thanks in advance

I think you were misinformed, you can't just flash any models firmware over your chinese model (thats why it fails), you can only "rebrand" using the guides linked below, which requires unlock bootloader.
Flash Latest Update/Rebrand Guide: (Has lots of choices for rebranding, can go to different regional specific firmware such as USA, Europe, Asia, etc)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/how-to/guide-mate-9-flash-update-package-t3593108
Unbrick and Rebrand Guide: (Only 2 choices, MHA-L29C636 International/Asian (comes with Play Store and no Chinese apps) or MHA-AL00 Chinese)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/how-to/guide-rebrand-chinese-al00-mate9-to-t3554656
I'd stick with the Chinese one. It has a few more features and gets updated more often. The few Chinese programs are mostly removable as well.
You can rebrand with also OTA . I am done follow this link it perfect.
[rebrand from c636 to AL00 and rebrand from AL00 to C432.]

HiGame not available for Asia Pacific region?

It seems that it isn't available for devices based in the Asia Pacific region.
However, on my other Honor 6X, that is also from the Middle East, it seems to have HiGame application.
Maybe because I didn't sign into Huawei Services with the other phone?
may be you need to install Huawei mobile services first and option hi care then yu can install via hiApp the hiGames.
I think so too. I don't have it.

Not at all. I used the force update method, which requires you to unlock BL but it's free. (bought my Mate 9 from Germany, live in Sweden. Huawei has never approved a single update for me)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/how-to/guide-mate-9-flash-update-package-t3593108
Firmware Finder is showing MHA-L29C432B362 (8.0.0.362) FullOTA-MF for my Mate 9. Update is not showing up under "System Update" or in HiCare.
Question, is it ok to install from Firmware Finder or does that has any influence on further OTA updates from Huawei?
Thanks

I know, the Huawei update system is goofy. All the devices are the same, so from a hardware standpoint any Mate 9 firmware should be allowed. Huawei should let the users decide what they want to flash. Yes, your average user should just get the standard updates but there should be an option like unlocking Developer Settings and clicking a switch "Allow any firmware".
Which firmware are you running at the moment? I have 360 and the 361 and 362 don't seem to have any real improvements other than some security updates and improved WiFi.

Right, same here, don't get it.
has been the same with my mate 9 ever since I bought it (on release). Huawei updates are kinda strange to put it mildy. and I don't want to get bothered with unlocked bootloaders and updates through all kind of alternative update servers and such. it is what it is, phone is running ok so we have to be patient.
Same boat. Also rebranded.
Actually, I was about to go down the flashing rabbit hole, but I saw this post and I think I'll wait one more month.
how working?
Was on the chat with Huawei today. Last devices should not receive the update later than 23. February.

Did you have to down grade to Nougat before doing the upgrade?
I'm on 636 B360 using this TWRP: twrp_android_o_mate9_a1.img which is 3.1.1.0 and when I run the update.bat nothing happens after I reboot to TWRP.
