[LB] [STOCK] Wipe cache partition after upgrading to Nougat - Xperia Z5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I just got the regular OTA update to Nougat for my Z5.
But battery life with Nougat is very bad. Already tried resetting app permissions - no success. Someone told me to wipe the cache partion, as this might be a cause for battery drain.
Since I'm on stock and locked bootloader (but it is unlockable), I don't have TWRP or something similar. But I have a working ADB, if this is of any help.
Do you have any ideas how to wipe the cache?
Thanks a lot & have a nice day
Herb

[Q] Loop problem

Hello all. I'm pretty new and I hope this is the right place to open this thread. I did many searches, tried a lot of ways but i can't fix my problem.
Well the problem is that Everytime that i flash a new rom (in the Restoreway (Found on youtube) And in the .zip way) after installing the rom, and rebooting from xRecovery it start an endless loop and i don't really know how to fix it.
I tried many methods. Like wiping cache, factory reset and aaaall the other wipes.
so, ill ask you guys, please help me cause i can't find a way to flash this thing. :\
thank you so much.
hey dude i suggest you flash back your phone to stock rom
That fixes all the problems in the system and after that you just root it again
and install everything you want but be carefull in what you uninstall!
Try this...
I would suggest GSB ROM 3.6. Been using this rom since since version 2.2 and had very little problems. It is important that you follow Sheds instructions to the letter. It is very fast and basically trouble free. You can get it here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944430
install ruu ?
do a factory rest ..else try stockroms
what i'll do is try to wipe cache partition and wipe dalvik cache before i flash a new ROM... if it still fails then i will do wipe cache partition and wipe dalvik cache and factory reset before i flash new ROM...
my last resort will be to flash stock ROM then flash custom ROM again...

Rooted, Flashed ROM, now showing wrong time

Hi, I recently rooted my LG Optimus Black (P970) and flashed the Surpressed ROM. Everything is working fine, but whenever I set the time to use network-provided values the clock goes to the wrong time.
Most of the researching I've done on this has pointed towards people not wiping the cache when flashing a new rom.
I wiped the cache and dlavik cache before flashing Surpressed V7, then flashed the updates immediately after (7.1, 7.2, 7.3, 7.5). I DID NOT wipe the cache before installing the updates, assuming it wasn't necessary because I literally flashed V7.0, rebooted, flashed the 7.1 update, rebooted, etc. until 7.5 was installed. Was it necessary for me to wipe the cache between updates?
I have wiped the cache and dlavik after installing 7.5, but that didn't solve my problem. Just wondering if anyone has thoughts about what I should do next. Should I wipe the caches and install 7.5 from the SD again? or do I have to do a factory wipe and restart at flashing 7.0, then flash the updates (wiping cache in between each)?
Thanks in advance for any help!
Most probably you do not need to reflash them all. If I am not mistaken every time you reboot the cache is build from scratch (that's why it takes some time to boot the first time). What you can do is to fix permissions to check whether it helps, then you can always try to reflash the last update and before and after you flash it wipe cache and dalvik cache. If you factory reset your mobile you will still be on the same last update. What it does is only removes the data not the system.

Thanks for the advice and clarification. Sorry, but what exactly do you mean by "fix permissions"?

Nevermind - just realized that this is a function in ROM Manager. I'll give it a try and see how it goes. If it doesn't work, I'll try wiping cache and flashing the latest update of Surpressed.

UPDATE - I fixed the permissions, rebooted, and so far after a couple hours of running the time seems to be staying correct. Thanks again for the suggestion stevens8590

And it looks like I spoke too soon. The clock is currently 3 hours 45 minutes behind the actual time. With it being off by that amount I would assume that it isn't a timezone issue. I will try wiping the cache/dlavik, reinstalling Surpressed 7.5, wiping cache/dlavik and rebooting. Will update on that once I have it running for a while. In the meantime, any other thoughts are more than welcomed!

[Q] Problem with S'perience ROM - Loses root when I install

I'd post a reply to the official thread, but I still can't as of now due to low number of posts.
So I downloaded S'perience ROM from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1888350
Then I tried flashing it as needed. The phone restarts and voila, S'perience. However, I found out that I had lost my root.
Busy Box is installed, but when I checked via Root Checker, it told me that some SU binaries are not present, therefore my phone has lost root.
I tried rerooting my phone and flashing S'perience three times, but the same thing happen. Yeah, I did the usual factory rest, cache and data wipe, etc, and I have no idea why my phone loses root when I flash this ROM.
Can anyone help me?
I just contacted the author of that ROM.
Hopefully they'll be able to help you out

So I just flash this right after I flash S'perience, right?
Thank you so much for your replies!
Okay, so I finally installed S'perience on my LWW. And for the sake of comparison and exploration, I'm trying out Hyperbeam.
So I did the following:
1. flashed .58 firmware,
2. unlocked bootloader
3. installed Rage Kernel
4. CWM
5. wipded data (factory reset)
6. wiped cache
7. wiped dalvik cache
8. flashed base ROM (Hyperbeam)
9. flashed patch
10. flashed lockscreen
Then reboot.
Now, my phone's undergoing bootloop for a good fifteen minutes. And it's still continuing as I type this. Anything I did wrong?
Thank you so much in advance.

[Q] CM10 bootanimation

Hey everyone. I have a rooted HTC One S. I downloader ROM Manager and downloaded CM10. i installed it, but on startup, the CM10 boot animation just keeps going and going. the longest i let it go was close to 20 mins. I'm pretty sure tht this shouldn't be happening, any thoughts or suggestions would be nice.
have you followed all those steps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1889339&highlight=cyanogenmod
?
most important thing is to wipe your system partition / dalvik cache.
if coming from another rom (stock or whatsoever) you need to do a factory reset too.
back up your data before, cause it will be gone then.

A wipe was all that needed to be done. The problem was ROM Manager wasnt wiping prior to installation. Thanks for the help, +1.

Does one need to factory reset after getting OS 5.1.6 ?

Anyone please...
No, not really necessary. You should, however, clear cache from recovery.
I usually factory reset only after major OS changes, like a bump in android version.
When I found out that you cannot use substratum while update than I just flashed oos.5.1.6 over oss.5.1.5 without wiping anything. After reboot installed twrp, root and xposed back.
I got my answer...
Plz close the thread mods.
Thanks
