Let me start by saying that I am new here, and I am not sure if this is the correct place to ask for help, but here I go anyway...
I am in desperate need of assistance. Against all better judgment, I rooted my phone a few months ago and now I am in a "pickle" so to speak. I recently recieved the Android 5.0.2 OTA Update notification. I have attempted multiple times to install this update but each and every time I do so, it returns me (after rebooting) a message along the lines of "software update was unsuccessful". I have sifted through some posts online with no avail. I am not the best person when it comes to my phone, however I do know how to get around on a computer.
I guess I should also add that I read somewhere that the phone must be un-rooted before attempting to upgrade, however, I have alrady attempted to do so with the "Full Unroot" option in SuperSu, but the only thing that seemed to have happened is the app is now deleted.
Another thing, I only rooted my phone and did not install any of the recovery programs like CWM or TWRP. This is stock android and no Custom ROM.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I have been waiting for Andoid L for a very long time and am very upset that I am having all these issues trying to use it.
Thank you for listening and look forward to seeing if anyone can help me.

What you may try to want to do is to find the factory stock image online for which ever version you have and run it then upgrade to each new version till you get to lollipop update. Yes you will lose all of your data but if lollipop is what you want that is probably what your gonna have to do. Every time a factory update is available on Motorola before it does the update it will check for every app and checks file system and recovery. Anything out of the ordinary and it will usually not upgrade it. So if I was you look for the stock factory image of 4.4.4 and update to lollipop 5.0.2.
Alternatively flash a custom recovery, TWRP or Philz Touch, and then do a factory reset and flash one of the zips in this collection:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/development/rom-stock-motorola-lollipop-rom-t3017510
Less risk and you keep your photos etc.
So, i suffer this problem after following a tutorial somewhere in XDA too, when the thread says to factory reset device to get rid of the encryption since i cant remove encryption via "Decrypt Device" button, i factory resetted the phone via TWRP 2.7.10, hoping it was fixed and its not, the phone bootloops, i tried to flash stock firmware and no luck.
Can someone give a solution for this problem?
Any suggestion will be highly appreciated.
(sorry for bad english)
Samsung Galaxy Grand Neo (GT-I9060)
Rooted.
Custom Recovery
Stock Rom
(Info in case it helps)
[EDIT]
I Reflashed GennXT Pre-Rooted ROM and the PHONE NOW DOESNT EVEN BOOT
[2nd Edit] Turns out my phone was getting into black screen after the flashing, and i thought it was hard bricked, i noticed its still alive when the phone is very hot, but sadly still bootlooping
Heres what i have been trying:
Factory Reset- FAILED
Flashing Stock Rom- FAILED
Flashing GennXT PreRooted Rom-FAILED
Decrypt Device via security settings- FAILED
Will flashing stock firmware with odin get rid of the bootloop and the encryption?
Will sideloading CM11 brick the device?
if anyone stumble across the thread please help/ reply!

Is there someone managed to do it. I already read a lot of post regarding downgrading to 4.4.4, some says theres no chance to downgrade if you upgraded OTA but some managed to downgrade. So can really downgrade back to 4.4.4?? I'm really confused right now. Lollipop on my device has a lot of issues. Battery drains much faster even on idle mode it sucks up my battery. Game run much lagger than before. Already did factory wipe and clear cache 3x. I never experienced this when i was on Kitkat 4.4.4 and i really want to downgrade.. many of the user who tried to downgrade (Note Edge) have their phone soft bricked due to bootloader or something..
So is there a possibility that i can downgrade back to 4.4.4?? Thanks!
I was able to do it on my T Mobile Edge. I downgraded by following these instructions http://androidsigma.com/how-to-downgrade-samsung-note-edge-from-android-lollipop-to-kitkat/
I didn't use Sammobile though because they want me to pay to be able to download stock ROMs that should be free so I googled the PDA of the stock T Mobile ROM and downloaded it from https://www.androidfilehost.com
I got a boot loop but I fixed it by booting into Samsung recovery mode (stock normal one) and doing a cache wipe and a hard reset.
Hi! Thanks for your reply.. Actually i already read that sites(Downgrade guide) but the comments on that link prevent me from doing the downgrade because almost all who commented on that site had their edge bricked..
Bought mine at Singapore.. can i also used that T mobile ROM?? thats a stock ROM right?
You can stop the soft brick by doing a hardware reset which you need to do anyway after every OTA update. You can do the reset off of the stock Samsung recovery
And yes that is Stock T Mobile ROM. What model is your Note Edge? T Moble ROMs normally work on most versions
Mine is SM-N915G..
I already downloaded the stock FW here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/confirm/38097/N915GXXU1ANJ5_N915GOLB1ANJ3_XSP/
inside the zip folder contain N915GXXU1ANJ5_N915GOLB1ANJ3_N915GXXU1ANJ3_HOME.tar.md5 file.... thats all i need right??
In the Odin.. did u enable the Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time??
Hard Reset means factory reset right?
Thanks.. you're my only hope now hahaha...
Will downgrade today. Wish me luck!
It'll work . Just make sure to do a recovery factory reset.
Thanks for your assistance! Managed to downgrade my unit back to kitkat 4.4.4... is there a way to disbble OTA witthout root.. its kinda irritating! It just stays at the in the notfication bar...
Btw, my games run my smoother now!!! Games especially emulator for NDS, PSX, Nintendo GC arent optimized on lolliopop.. But on Kitkat, it runs very smooth
I think you can do that through software updates settings on about phone section. Glad to see it worked. Told you it would. Sometimes you just gotta take risk. It was scary for me too but I just had this confidence I'd tweak my way out of it if I bricked my phone.

Click to collapse
OTAs only make you jump from one version to the next. To downgrade you have to flash a stock rom.
So I'm using a Pixel 32GB ( G-2PW4100 ) and I downloaded and installed the Android P OTA update OVER WIFI then proceed to do a factory reset after that for a clean phone.
After the that, I can't turn on wifi, the slider will attemp to turn on then immediately turn off.
MAC Address is stuck at 02:00:00:00:00:00
I already tried to reflash the stock factory image from Google for Nougat and Oreo but all the same problem. Other function works fine, including Bluetooth.
Anyone have ideas that can help me? Thanks in advance.
Oh and do I need to flash a specific version of the factory image?
You followed Google's instructions for flashing the stock image?
