So, I was trying to flash the verizon radio on to my unlocked htc 10. I installed twrp, rooted it, and s-off'd it, but it wasn't working (Once you reset the phone after s-off it doesn't have root anymore.) So, I decided to convert it to a Verizon variant using, https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-htc-10/how-to/guide-convert-unlocked-to-verizon-t3380615.
I was trying to root my phone and ADB sideloader kept coming up with, "you need 1.0.32 or newer to sideload on this device." I have the latest version of ADB so it shouldn't have been coming up with that message. My phone is the European version and I am trying to convert it to the US version by loading SuperSU. I backed up my system image before I rooted it. If I restore that system image will I still have s-off and an unlocked bootloader?
Any help would be awesome! I'd really like to get this working with verizon

So i held out taking the otas for a while to avoid losing root and am still on 4.2.2 post camera update. I know, it's sad, but I have root so i haven't been dying to update.
However, i just saw that sunshine will unlock my bootloader, which I'm going to do. What I'm confused about though is once i unlock my bootloader, how do I get to 4.4.4? Can I just revert everything to stock and take all of the otas (and then flash twrp to get root)? I heard that something in one of the otas changed something with the bootloader, so i don't know if taking that would cause problems with an unlocked bootloader or make me lose my unlocked status. Either way, could i just flash a 4.4.4 image directly from 4.2.2? If so where do i get a stock image to flash? Thanks for any help!
Once you have successfully unlocked, make sure you are status 3 unlocked in fastboot.
Once confirmed, you can use the rsd lite, and use the stock firmware from:
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/
Next, flash twrp for the ghost from their website.
Lastly if you want root flash supersu.
So can I flash a different OS version from the site that you linked? Or is that just to return to stock in anticipation of flashing TWRP and using that to flash a later android version?
rule of thumb is you cannot downgrade, only upgrade or revert to the same version you are already on
This seemed like the easiest route to a rooted 4.4.4... Unlock bootloader via Sunshine, and proceed as instructed here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-ultra/general/unlocked-boot-xt-1080-restore-4-4-4-pre-t2883131
Data remains intact, unlocked bootloader warning on boot logo fixed, and TWRP (or Philz) flashed as recovery. Super easy. Good times.
Deleted. Redundant post.

I'm in the same situation. I'm currently rooted on the post camera update and held off on the new ota's for a while. I want to do the sunshine unlock. My question is should I do the sunshine unlock, upgrade to the newest 4.4.4 then install twrp to root? This youtube.com/watch?v=_xVyJMtLDPgvideo gives pretty good instructions but I also want to take future OTA's. I understand you won't be able to unless you put the recovery back to stock.
Thanks in advanced

Yep true. Can't take OTAs with out stock recovery. But it is easy to flash Stock Recovery then back to TWRP after the OTA. Of course safest option is to flash stock fxz without wiping data before taking OTAs.
Personally have my own recovery and logo.bin script I keep for just this reason. Run RSDlite with the stock software take OTA (if no fxz yet for the OTA) then full bit and setup and finally flash the recovery and logo.bin I use.
Many ways of doing it just find its easier for me this way probably cause this is how I learned from trial and error is all. Probably an easier way though.
Just a quick question here since I don't see a guide anywhere. My brother is getting an M8 from Verizon in several weeks (he's getting a new contract and the M8 looks like the best free/cheap phone available). So I can assist him, what is the current status on unlocking the bootloader and rooting? Looks like it will ship with Lollipop according to Verizon's site.
I don't need detailed guides on doing everything (I'm familiar with the concepts; I have a Nexus 5 myself), but just a quick "Bootloader can't be unlocked, so no root" or whatever the case is would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Sunshine 3.x now unlocks/ s-offs VZW M8 with LP 5.0
Not 100% on rooting.
I literally just flashed TWRP to mine via ADB fastboot method about 4 minutes ago and am running a stock nandroid backup as I type this.
I was on 4.4.4 when I S-offed, then took the LP update to 5.0, then flashed TWRP recovery (right now) in order to flash SuperSU. That's about all I know. Everyone said to S-off BEFORE taking the OTA update in order to obtain root on LP.. so I did. Now i'm just trying to figure out where I get this SU to install for perm root. Now your guess is as good as mine for why I needed to S-off BEFORE taking the OTA. The new sunshine that was released (3.x) is able to S-off after the update so I'm really not sure what the difference would be whether you S-off on 4.4.4 or 5.0 and then do the same process to install supersu. Anyways, hope this kind of helps.
Oh, and I suppose if you S-offed , you could flash TWRP then just install a pre-rooted stock ROM which i'm sure is somewhere out there.

Ahhhh.. OK.
Glad I didn't update then before I ran Sunshine. I'm sure Jcase and his buddy are working on getting VZW ironed out soon. Just finished Flashing TWRP, and to the OP.. when you flash TWRP, it roots it for you pretty much, it must be bundled in there. After I made the backup, and went to reboot it asked if I wanted to install superSU since it saw I wasn't rooted yet. It did and I just rebooted and it was there, updated the binaries no problems and now I'm on stock VZW LP-rooted.

Did you even read the last 3 posts?????
Flash TWRP in fastboot, boot back into it and it will root the phone....
[6.0.1 Un-Rooted Rom] HTC One A9 NA Unlocked Update From (1.56.617.1 RUU) To (1.56.617.20) latest OTA Un-Rooted
This is only for those that have the latest TWRP Recovery, S-OFF, Unlocked, Supercid 11111111 Or BS_US001, 2PQ912000 MID phones only!!!
Only tested on a NA Unlocked DEV Edition US phone on TMobile taking the latest OTAs and extracting firmware. Not tested on anything else, maybe it works, maybe it doesn't.
Also, if you don't want to pay the $25 for Sunshine to S-Off your phone, do us a favor, sell your HTC and buy an iPhone. You have no business fooling around with rooting/flashing phones then.
S-Off will get you out of a lot of problems/jams when things go wrong. Also, always have a good/working RUU available and stored on your computer in case things go South and you want to get back to stock. At least with S-Off and Unlocked phones, it is much easier to just go back to the RUU for your phone if things go wrong.
You've been warned!!!!
Below is the Un-Rooted TWRP Backup.
I left this backup Un-Rooted because there are several version of ChainFire's SU, auto-root, 2.66 Beta, 2.70 Beta etc...download the version you think you require. 2.66 Beta has worked fine, but I just tested the 2.70 latest and it rooted and worked as well.
WARNING, BACKUP UR DATA FIRST, I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY LOSS - DAMAGE - I'm not answering any questions. It tested and worked on my phone.
What I did. I first did an RUU of my phone to 1.56.617 official, then took both the 1.57.617.10 and 156.617.20 updates. Then, I TWRP Recovery, Formatted Data and made a backup. Uploads below of both.
I also downloaded the OTA manually, pulled the firmware file out, renamed it and uploaded it below.
Rebooted my phone and all is working normally.
No! I'm not going to make a flashable zip of this. Kind of pointless IMO since this isn't a custom Rom that will be updated. You still need to have the latest Firmware installed manually. So just download/unzip the backup, and restore via TWRP after that. Reboot, go from there. Easy.
Download Un-Rooted 156.617.20 Software TWRP Backup
1.57.617.20.Stock.NA.Gen.Unlock.2016-03-19.zip - 1.56 GB
Download 1.56.617.20-2PQ9IMG Firmware
http://d-h.st/D82A
Steps:
1) After downloading the version above. Extract contents of ZIP files to your computer for the TWRP backups. Then copy the folder in the TWRP Backup folder on your internal/external SD Card. Whatever you prefer.
2) Rename 1.56.617.20-2PQ9IMG.zip Firmware to 2PQ9IMG.zip and then copy it in the root of your Internal SD Card.
3) Reboot in Download Mode And flash 2PQ9IMG Firmware.
4) Boot in TWRP, Restore 1.56.617.20 TWRP Backup, Restore boot.img as well.
Then, boot phone, set it all up again, restore apps/update from Play store and so forth.
5) SuperSU-Root your phone. You can find the version you want here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu
As a courtesy, I have uploaded 2.66 Beta that I use/keep, download at your own risk. Thanks to ChainFire!!

This update was a surprise as it was much earlier than normal.
More people need to appreciate how awesome the after-market support for this phone has been.
It's even more special after how locked-down the S7 has shown itself to be, and we know Samsung doesn't do timely updates anymore.
Yup, loving how fast the updates are coming for this phone. From now on only going HTC or Nexus or HTC Nexus.
do you still have Unrooted TWRP Backup files? dead link
if u want to go back to stock, maybe just try to install the dev or the latest (country) firmware, that will do it
Hello there.
I unlocked my bootloader a long while ago, then flashed TWRP on my TW U11+. Now recently I have seen that there's an update and I get the popup from my updater.apk on my HTC U11+.
My phone is on 1.24.709.7 update. And it's I think most definitely the ASIA_TW version.
Mid - 2Q4D10000
Cid - HTC__621
So I try to update but of course fail because my recovery was TWRP so of course that it did not work. Then I hear that you need to have stock recovery, so what I do is I get stock recovery.img, go to download mode and flash it through the command "flashboot flash recovery recovery.img. I get the success command and I reboot and try download the OTA once again, then I try to update it. It does go to stock recovery but then it "updates" til 25% and then it's stuck. Then after like 10 seconds it just simply gives my this Red Triangle with an exclamation mark in the middle of it. So I press power button and vol down to get off that mode and that's it. It won't update to the newest OTA.
I flashed 1.24.709.7 recovery at first. It didn't work then I flashed 1.24.709.8 recovery but still no avail.
Can you guys please help me? I really don't know what I am doing wrong.
Thanks in advance
I am having the exact same problem. I wish I had the HTC__621 recovery, but I haven't been able to find the correct one.
Hopefully somebody will see this. Every link that looks like the right thing is dead.
Same problem
I had the same problem, too.
But I find a way to update to 1.24.709.8.
That is: I decide to flash the 1.24.709.8 version's RUU .
Hope this can help you.
U11+ All TW version's image and OTA :
//drive.google.com/drive/folders/1kNE8rN8yUBPo9vux9G3CMvUzg3cg0lQ3
Thanks for the link.
However the problem that I'm experiencing is that whenever I flash either 1.24.709.7 or 1.24.709.8 RUU. It just won't flash over fastboot. So what I do is I put it on my SD card then put the file and rename it to like 2Q4DIMG.zip and go to recovery and still won't flash it correctly.
I'll try it again today to see what error code I get from it.
Did you unlocked or rooted your u11+?
Sorry for the late reply man.
My HTC u11plus is unlocked and I also have rooted my phone via magisk.
You can't update with official ota if unlocked, you need to relock and have the stock recovery. Relock will wipe your data I think
You can OTA with unlock, but you must run pure stock ROM. I RUU my phone and successfully apply the OTA.
Magisk did modify /boot partition so OTA wont apply with Magisk. You have to restore stock boot, OTA, then patch the boot again to preserve Magisk. Also if you use 3rd party recovery you have to restore the stock one.
All partition image can be found in the RUU with https://forum.xda-developers.com/chef-central/android/tool-universal-htc-ruu-rom-decryption-t3382928 but you must make sure you flash the version match your current system. If not the only way might be RUU your phone.
I have also had the exact same issue with updating the latest OTA update. I have TW model, it was unlocked and rooted with magisk. I relocked bootloader, stock boot img and still the update wouldn't install. I even tried flashing 1.24.709.7 RUU in downloader mode but failed remote: 22 RU_HEADER_ERROR.
Would love any ideas or help.
*UPDATE*
Finally was able to update to 1.24.709.8 OTA. I needed up unlocking the bootloader again, then downloaded the 1.24.709.7 full image from
drive.google.com/drive/folders/1kNE8rN8yUBPo9vux9G3CMvUzg3cg0lQ3
Extracted the rar file and manually installed the boot, recovery and system images separately and rebooted. Downloaded the update and installed, everything worked sweet!!

Thank you very much for this. I will try this tomorrow or something.
I will post my results here.
Btw is there any update for Emea region? They did one a month ago for TW models and since then no words about Europe and Middle East
Does anyone have a link to 1.24.401.7 9.0_CL1010171 ? I'm trying to find stock recovery that matches with stock rom and can't find it anywhere.
Magisk and TWRP installed at the moment.
I've got stock boot.img backed up before installing Magisk but there was no way to boot (without flashing) TWRP in order to backup stock recovery that came with U11+.
Cheers
I have the original Android 8.0 system and software version 2.33.401.19. Two days ago, my HTC announced that there is a new update to android 9.0. It downloads it and tries to install it. After reboot, TWRP starts and I choose to restart the system. Nothing is updated, and after a while I see a message that the update file is damaged.
A few weeks ago I unlocked the bootloader, ripped the phone and installed TWRP and MagiskManager. I suspect that the unlocked bootloader causes these problems. What should I do to install this update?

not the unlocked boot loader, it's because you have twrp installed. you need stock recovery(and what ever you do don't relock your bootloader)you can get back to stock by flashing the oreo ruu, then you'll recieve the ota and it will install.you need the ruu for your phone.that's it.
this will wipe your internal, so if you have something on there you want to keep, back it up to your pc, then you can restore, also, you'll need to reinstall twrp and magisk after you install the ota.
Thanks for answer. I'm going to do this ....
Hi,
Is there a way I can just flash the stock recovery and try to OTA? Really don't want to backup 80GB and restore back.
