[ROOT] Facebook Contacts Sync Mod (Slim Bean 4.3.1 build 2)

CREDITS:
pogi1100
Niranjan Thilak (original post)
Extracted ContactsProvider.apk from "Slim-i9300-4.3.build.2-OFFICIAL-1322" and successfully modded it to enable syncing of Facebook contacts on i9300. Absolutely love this ROM, thought I'd give back to the community.
[Root required]
Steps:
1.) Rename /system/app/ContactsProvider.apk to /system/app/ContactsProvider.apk.bak
2.) Copy attached ContactsProvider.apk to /system/app
3.) Set ContactsProvider.apk permissions to 644 (rw- r-- r--)
4.) Settings > Apps > All > Contacts Storage > Clear Data (clear data for Facebook as well)
5.) Reboot
Facebook app should now have sync option (right at the bottom inside settings) and contacts will now sync.

S5 Settings, AccuWeather, Email, and Other S5 Apps for the Grand 2 !! - 100% Working!

REALLY IMPORTANT: THIS THREAD IS NOT GOING TO BE UPDATED ANYMORE. SEE MY "COMPLETE S5 MOD GUIDE" THREAD, IN THIS SECTION OF THE DEVICE'S FORUM.
After the big hit with the S Note app, I'd like to share the FULLY WORKING S5 Settings and Email apps!
The steps need a rooted phone.
S5 Settings -> https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4bFPA3V4_OobXdDck9abVFRZ0E/preview
Copy to /system/priv-app, making a backup of the original.Make sure that the file is correctly copied (the copy is not corrupt), then reboot the phone.
You'look get either one or two Settings icons. If you got two, then one of them is the S5 Settings app.
If you got none, then repeat the steps.
S5 AccuWeather:

[Tutorial] Android Theming

>> Settings.apk
>> Framework-res.apk
- Icons
- Jellybean> Kitkat Platlogo> L (4.5) Platlogo
- Default wallpaper changing
Lets Start
Necessary Tools
> Apktools
> PC/Android Phone
> Settings.apk, Framework-res.apk
> Changing the logo of settings.apk
So first get the settings.apk of a ROM. And
decompile the apk using apktool/ u can also
extract the apk by Ninja Morph. After decompiling
a settings app by apktools, u will get=
> Meta-INF
> Res
> Android Manfiest.xml
> Apktool.yml
> Classes.dex
> Resourses.arsc
But if you extract the apk you will not get all of
these files! I mean the apktool.yml will be
missing. That’s not a matter in modding pngs
Ok now open the “res” folder… In the folder you
will see some folder.. There you will find a folder
named “drawable-hdpi” .. Open that folder U will
find a lot of PNGs! :/ Now you will find some Pngs
named..
> Ic_settings_dualsim.png
> Ic_settings_language.png
> Ic_settings_development.png
> Bla bla bla
I mean all those files named ic_settings_
xxxxxx.png
If you are too lazy to make them then you can get
them from any other ROM’s settings.apk and
replace them with your’s (this is what I do ) Or
if you have time and brain to make them you can
make it but it must be of the same resolution!!
Now after completing every thing Recompile the
settings.apk then sign it and Enjoy the new
settings app
> Changing Platlogo
What is Platlogo?
Platlogo is that logo!! Go to settings> about
phone> android version!! Press on it for some
time back to back.. down you will see your
android version with its name. Above it you will
see a logo. That logo is known as PLATLOGO
Lets start
Same as before decompile/extract framework-
res.apk using apktools/ NinjaMorph. Now You will
find
Different files as before now open the folder “res”
There you will find a folder named “drawable-
nodpi”
In that folder u will find some .png files. You can
find Platlogo.png, Platlogo_alt.png U can replace to
png with any Platlogo from an Kikat rom J And now
recompile the framework-res.apk replace with
your stock one and enjoy the new Platlogo!
> Changing Default Wallpaper
Lets start
Same as before decompile/extract framework-
res.apk using apktools/ NinjaMorph. Now You will
find
Different files as before now open the folder “res”
There you will find a folder named “drawable-
nodpi”
In that folder u will find some .png files and a .jpg
file . You can find a .jpg file named default_
wallpaper.jpg! U can replace to jpg with any jpg J And
now recompile the framework-res.apk replace
with your stock one and enjoy the new Default
Wallpaper!

[Completed] Missing System Apps after replacing icons (using APK Editor)

i want to change the stocks system apps icon, 3 out of 16 apps that the icon has changed were missing (but the rest are working perfectly), the missing one were
-Contacts.apk
-DownloadProviderUi.apk
-Settings.apk
the method that im using was
-using APK Editor,
-open res
-and replace the ic_launcher_(app name).png in mipmap-hdpi/mdpi/xhdpi with each resolution of my own icon.
-then put them in system/app or system/priv-app and change the permission to rw-r-r
oddly enough that those 3 apps were the only one that didnt work
help me . and what causes the problem?
New to Android world, hope i can find some guidance
Thank You very much1
Hi,
This doesn't sound like a device specific issue, so asking for help here should be good,
> Android Development and Hacking > Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Good luck!
