Deodexing problem android 5.1 - Android Builders Collective

Hello, i'm new at custom rom making, i tried deodexing the android 5.1 rom from my Archos 50 helium plus with superr kitchen (the only kitchen that works with my mobile to make flashable rom)
the problem is when it finished deodexing i've always this error
"There were problems deodexing the following
and will cause issues if you flash the ROM.
You have been warned:
system/app/Drive/Drive.apk
system/app/EngineerMode/EngineerMode.apk
system/framework/ext.jar
system/framework/framework.jar"
What could i do to fix this issue ? i'd really like to make a custom rom but it will be complicated if it's odexed from what i know

Hi Pikachuk
Just use other patcher tool I believe i´m not allowed to say names app at xda.
I´m pretty much noob in cooking roms..
My first stock mod was bloated but worked with bug. Maybe bug came by wrong installation P
It was for my new Cubot Cheetah2 Marshmallow so i stopped gamble with new device for less benefit.
I also got two Archos 50c Platinum - Android 5.1 (api22).
It was hard to find a twrp for it. Since both Archos are in worse condition, i decided to start another brew. But all my test had less success / none, just a uninstalled system. Maybe you like to cook for Platinum, i test! May i try to cook for your device but first i have to check superr kitchen instead of old kitchen.
Dang i wasted a lot time on none working updater scripts
edit:
I got SUPERR kitchen running but not working. Lot of errors if i load it in cygwin. I had more success with ASSAYYED_KITCHEN

Is removing or upgrading a program included in a ROM possible?

Hi,
I have a tmobile wing flashed with touch-it 2.3. The JAVA midlet manager is part of the ROM, it is an old version and I would to install a newer version. My question is, if I install a newer version will the installation be similar as an upgrade on a desktop computer or will I have 2 different versions (I am not sure it this would cause some interaction problems that is why I have tried this yet)
Or Is there any way to remove a application included in a ROM?
Thanks!
not sure about the upgrade part .. i assume the program will auto know that a newer version is being installed and will remov old ver.
as far as removing from rom, by my knowledge, the only way to do that is by extracting the rom usind the kitchen for that rom and recompiling it with stuff u want .. for this however u need to hav chef permission and kitchen
I am new with the whole cooking/flashing world, so I am not sure about the cooking thing. I will have to read about this. I guess I will have to try the upgrade thing.
Well, I tried and instead of upgrading the existing the older version of the application I have 2. This is a bit annoying since I have to install it on my already very limited internal memory. Is there ANY way to go around this, either by actually writing over the older version or removing it?
Help please!

Rom Cooking

Hey everyone. I am on my fourth Android Device now and want to start developing (cooking) custom ROMS. I have a pretty solid understanding of Linux fundamentals and have a programming background, but no java. I know this isn't a huge roadblock, as I am not looking to develop apps right now, but I figured I would mention it.
My current development environment:
- Mac OS 10.6 (Primary)
And any number of the following virtual Machines
- Windows 7 32 bit
- Windows XP Professional
- Fedora 12
- Kubuntu 9.1
- openSuSE 11.2
- Ubuntu 9.1
I am trying to develop for the Motorola Droid. Many of the Droid Roms are currently being delivered as Nandroid backups, with the exception of a few coming through as update.zip or .rom.tgz.
Here is where I need some help. I realize that update.zips have to be signed. I have seen a lot of methods on signing update.zips /apks on this forum, and have tried a ton (AndroSign, testsign, and several others) and any time I get a signed update.zip, the installation halts on my device. Is the signing method device specific??
To create an update.zip or a .rom.tgz, do you need to have boot.img, recovery.img, data.tar, META-INF and system.tar? or can you create any combination of them?
Finally, what source file should I be using? One thread I saw recommended creating a nandroid backup of a clean 2.0.1 install + su + busybox and pulling apart system.tar. To my knowledge, there is no "factory recovery rom" for the droid like the RUU for some HTC devices. I pulled /system from a fresh backup and tried to pack THAT into an update.zip and rom.tgz and could not succeed either time. update.zip wouldnt install and rom.tgz installed but got stuck at boot loader.
Any help would be much appreciated!
I have scoured google, xda, modaco, alldroid, etc. and havent found the right answers, so now I am reaching out here.

How to run the most stable rom avoid conflicts for newbies and skilled alike

The advice I provide is mainly for the stock 2.1 sense ui roms - 2.27.651.6 (+) but users will find the advice in here applies universally to several other rom builds, android versions, and problems many people will encounter as root - even if you follow dev directions for the rom...even if it is a final release...most of the info I posted is based off much testing, and, I have found the rom recommendations to be most stable for the recommended build 2.1 eclair build stock deoxed cdma sprint hero - again the advice, even apks I provide you may find useful for other roms you currently use). I cannot post large text due to spam regulations and since I am a new user so directions and info are attached in the word document. Trust me, this is a good read. I wish I had this advice when I first started modding my roms or even when I got good at it. Would have saved me days of time.
See attached ENJOY!
I attached one fix for the rom version as well as the circle battery mod which I think is awesome for ALL android phones. Kernals as well for the recommended 2.1 sense ui.
P.S.
Use the engineering boot flashable file at your own risk - it's optional - I happen to like it.
Also, if you brick your phone or you have problems with recovery - there is a way to fix this. Use the Unrevoked 3 for Windows on the hero (it is for the easy root) - this is not compatible yet - but go to load custom recovery and find your boot.img nandroid file which you may have trouble recovering from your current recovery or if you are having load up problems etc...this may get you temporarilly into the custom recovery for just enough time to use the proprietary recovery on the nand backup to recover your last most stable back up! This happens a lot to people who upgrade backup programs or alternate between them - read the document regarding recovery dos and don't. I also recommend reviewing some basic commands for adb shell and terminal programs.
Enjoy good luck. Comments or suggestions for improvements - re-wording is always appreciated - I'll see if I can modify as such and thank appropriate contributors. Oh and sorry for the typos
Cheers again,
Joe.
Hi,
Believe it or not, I read your whole Word doc. I am using ZenFX Lite ROM, which I like. I also tried the ZenROM.
Anyways, I'm run into the same problem. When I have JIT on, it always always locks and/or reboots when I use Google Navigation (turn by turn mode), or when I'm downloading about 3 or more apps at once from the Market. When JIT is off, I don't get reboots.
Can you confirm if you get this issue or not with JIT on with your solution?

[Q] ROM cooking questions

Here is the deal, I ran the NitrousROM for my HTC EVO 4G for awhile. It was pretty fast, almost stable ish, and had enough internal storage for additional apps I use regularly. But it eventually started to lockup frequently, a lot more. So much so that I couldn't even use it. So I looked around for other ROMs and found InfectedROM Eternity. It was stable, and had features I really liked. But it was slow, and I only had 44mb free internal storage with JUST the ROM installed.
I started looking into ROM cooking, hoping I could include the Eternity features I liked into a stock ROM to start with. I really like the lockscreen and the camera Eternity has. I don't know how to get the lockscreen. I tried swapping camera.apk and that didn't work.
Is there a way to get the camera Eternity has and install or cook it into a stock ROM? Or would it just be easier to strip down Eternity? I have tried stripping Eternity and it won't flash. I am using dsixda's kitchen, and I have duplicated everything I do so I can try converting the updater-script and leaving it alone, but still get errors. The errors vary, Error 0 to syntax errors. Used CWM recovery to flash, tried TWRP and smelkusmod. All the same.
I have finally successfully flashed a de-odexed, rooted stock ROM with theme files I got from UOT Kitchen. It is stable so far. But I still really want the Eternity camera and lockscreen. How would I go about doing this?
Was my post too long and boring?

[Q] Is there a TF300TG stock deodexed ROM 10.4.3.9?

Hi, I've been searching around for a stock tf300tg deodexed ROM but I can't find anything, and before you say "Install the tf300t one" I will say that I need the 3g version cause the combination of apps I use don't work well on the 3g with the non-3g ROM, I will probably get around deodexing in it myself but that might take me a few weeks before I can spare the time since I've never done it before and my experience with code is the turbo pascal I learned in high school .
Thanks in advance!!
Bump! x1000
Am in exactly the same position it would appear where all I want is a stock TG ROM that can run nicely. Have tried lots of the T-biased ROMs and they all come short...either the 3G functionality doesn't work or they are so laggy as heck you can't even do anything with your device. This might actually force me to go into development just to produce my own custom ROM...starting with a TG-specific kernel... Please let me know how it goes on your side.
EDIT: Busy setting up a Linux Mint box on the other side, and downloaded this stock ROM already. Soon as all's running fine on the Linux box, I can start with deodexing...that's the easy part, and then rooting
You could try the Arch Linux kernel for TF300TG
cb22 build a kernel for the tf300tg from scratch for the Arch Linux on TF300TG project. It can be used to just run Android (JB 4.1.1) and you may ignore the Arch Linux part. I don't have it myself yet, so I cannot say if it's deodexed.

will try archlinux just for the fun of it but next week I might get around deodexing it, IIF I get a day off :--(
I just used xUltimate to pull the system files but I don't see any .odex files, is the stock ASUS rom deodexed by default or am I doing something wrong?
If not why do the elesbb mods don't work properly and I lose the whole status bar?

Which firmware SKU are you trying to deodex (10.4.3.9) WW or TW?
Also not positive but think elesbb has only done the mods for the 10.4.2.20 (and the new 10.6.1.8) for the tf300t firmwares where the tf300tg firmware has not been updated for some time (still 10.4.3.9) and would think the systemui between the two would be somewhat different, so when you flash the mod you will have the tf300t systemui from tf300t (10.4.2.20) and it would not be compatible with the tf300tg.
Sorry disregard the WW or TW question, your in Limassol so you'll be using the WW.
Use adb to do a system pull
Code:
adb shell
adb pull system c:\androidpull
You can then zip that up and run a deodex in dsixda's Android Kitchen

I would but if what you're saying is correct there are no mods for my version and I would have to see how elesbb changed his to make a similar mod for myself, by myself which is something I'm not familiar with, my knowledge domain stops to basic photoshop and coreldraw, flashing through recovery, some adb stuff and basic command line use (either windows or linux).
Unless you mean that I could package HIS mod for my rom using dsixda's kitchen?
If I get down to it I will give them to elesbb to put on his threads too so everyone who wants them can get them as I don't see a lot of action for the 3g model.
On a second thought I just quit my job last week and the new job I went to didn't go as planned, so I might end up selling it by next week
Anyway, there's always someone with worse problems...
Thanks for the help m8!!
