Hey!
I got a new S7 and updated it to Andoird 7.
Since it get's dark where I live I noticed that the brightness adjustment after unlocking is quite slow when being in a darker environment.
The brighter my environment is - the faster the brightness adjustment gets - even to the point where the brightness is fully adjusted during the unlocking process.
Since I haven't had this with every mobile phone I ever owned I quite curious if all of you face the same "issue".
Screen brightness is set to auto. Same happens when auto is diabled. It's like Samsung doesn't want to go to the desired brightness in the darkness to let our eyes adjust better to the screen's brightness. (Just a suggestion from me).
I made a short video you can find here:

Thanks in advance for your answers!

Hi! I'm a first time poster here, have had my TP for a week now (previously used SE UIQ phones). Anyways, first I just wanted to THANK all of YOU who make these amazing apps and tweaks for this very cool phone!
Now to the point. I like the idea that the light sensor adjusts the backlight level automatically, but I find it much too bright especially in very dark conditions. Even if it's completely dark, the backlight doesn't go all the way down, i.e. I can make it much dimmer by manually setting the brightness to a low level.
Is there any way to "calibrate" the brightness for the auto adjusted backlight (so that if it's dark it would lower the brightness even more than it does now, and if it's bright it would set the backlight to 100%)?
Thanks!
Hello,
i have a Samsung Omnia7 without Branding, Nodo, and no locked.
When I set the brightness setting to middle or high (not automatic) then is the brightness good.
When i open the ie then the brightness is a little bit darker. Now i go in Landscape mode and the brightness is minimum.
I have the Firmware XEN1 from November 2010.
I hope you can help me to change this problem.

As far as I know this is hard-coded in the Samsung-driver. Though it should weaken only a little bit. This is to protect battery-life. The super-amoled display is already very bright.
But from high to low with one application. When i sit outside and surf with the IE then I turn in Landscape an the I see nothing because sunlight. Is that on every Samsung Phone or on Special Rom´s
Sorry for my bad english.
Has anyone else had issues with their Adaptive Brightness not working. Toggling the setting has no effect on my display. For such an expensive phone I expect things like this to work.
Yes, it doesn't work that great for me either. I mean I can see it adjusts the brightness "somewhat". But it appears it is not nearly as dramatic as on my Galaxy S7 which would pretty much perfectly adjust the brightness.
I agree that a phone this expensive should do it correctly out of the box. Google please listen.
This is the intended function as I understood it, so I googled it and here confirms. This is not intended to operate the same as auto brightness many other phones use.
In Android L, Google's introduced a new feature called Adaptive Brightness that combines manual and auto brightness. You can manually adjust the brightness level to a state you like. Once it's set, your screen will adjust based on ambient light so it stays at the same brightness relative to the light around you. This way you can set the screen to your preferences without sticking to an absolute level.

Been this way a long time. Would this be your first Nexus/Pixel phone?

The problem I have is that every time the phone is rebooted, adaptive brightness is set back to Off, even though it was On when the phone was restarted. Running NDE63V and not rooted.
Hi, I'm new in this forum. I want to change to the OnePlus 6, but I have a question:
¿On 9.0.3 Pie (the last upgrade) autobrighness works fine?
Works just fine for me. I also have High Brighness mode (requires root) installed from flar2 that increases max brightness for better outdoor viewing.

Works like it should.
And if you think it's too bright or too dim in a particular situtation, just adjust it with the slider, it will learn with time and it will happen less frequently.
For me auto-brightness never worked.
At home inside my house the screen is at a comfortable level move my phone ever so slightly the intensity becomes too bright.
Inside it should be a level and stay at the level, who knows what light source the sensor is seeing to boast the level it should leave the brightness alone.
So what do you do .....
1) Set level
2) If light source is detected wait 5 seconds before increasing brightness "because it maybe a false light source"
Then you will be in the sun and waiting for the brightness to increase.
Hate auto brightness all together.
So I set a level, likely on the dim side because I want to conserve battery life.
My problem is when I am in direct sunlight I see nothing.
I should look and see if there is anyway to program something easily accessible for a brightness boost.
In the sun can not see the screen, press the brightness boost button.
hello all this is my very first post and question. I have a Samsung Galaxy A20 which is tied to MetroPCS in the United States AKA T-Mobile prepaid. Anyways this phone has the automatic brightness turned off. I still notice however that the screen will get slightly dim or bright when I'm sitting in the living room and this does not have anything to do with reflection. The brightness slider does not move either. again, I make sure the automatic brightness is turned off in settings and always have phone set to max bright.
Okay upon further research I have figured out a fix. Apparently Android pie has an adaptive brightness artificial intelligence. You have to go into device health services and reset adaptive brightness when it starts doing that. Hope this helps someone.
Edit again nevermind this morning the display is still dimming about 10 or 20 percent it looks like.
