Is external drives needed? - General Questions and Answers

I know that Drobo was founded in 2005; the 1st Raid 2.0 came out in 2007 & the last came out 2012; my question is since there hasn't been a a new Drobo in the last 5yrs is the net, memory cards & devices more reliable now & U don't need 2 carry/ store external drives anymore from a business standpoint?

Actually I'm asking as a Photographer Intrusted in running my own business, thus do I need external drives anymore? Just give it 2 me straight!

Are you talking about for PC? Or for mobile smartphone/tablet? It seems to me that you mean for PC, if so then you're in the wrong place and you'll need to go find a PC forum, this forum is for windows and android mobile devices.

Actually, a photography forum would probably be better, there are probably many of them, take your pick, they'll all be about the same.

That was a brilliant read to be honest. I learnt where a couple of users had disappeared to, that even though the arguement was just for the sake of arguing in the end, there were still a load of valid points from all sides of it. And also learnt a little summat as to XDAs revenue and it's owners xD
Been sat here for absolutely ages reading all of that lol. Thanks for the link pal

Yeah, I haven't used the XDA app in a long time, basically since Tapatalk came out with the tablet version.
Try subscribing to a forum. Still haven't gotten it right.

I love the new xda app. There habve been issues with things like subscribing to threads, but the play store page tells you exactly how to fix it. Working flawlessly for me.

Well.... Clearing app data works for the next few uses but then it's messed up again.

Not to my knowledge. I have been using it on my SR and my Nexus 7 from the day it was released, with no issues. What worked for me was to manually unsubscribe from all threads that were subscribed to from the old app, clear app data and cache, and then re-add all subs. Not a single issue since then.

I actually hate how much it lags. Also, if I remember it correctly, there's no way to view your posts. And when you visit a thread you'd visited before, it takes you to the first page again, which is very annoying. Not sure if this was even tested in the first place.
To view your posts, back up to the left menu, and choose "particiapted". As for the way it opens a previously viewed thread, you can go to settings and choose whether you want it to open at the beginning, go to the first unread post, or to the newest post.

No, but it's much better than anything else. I'm a forum junkie and it's the best I've found.

well yes ....
It's just stupid that, instead of simply updating the current version, they release it as an entirely different app and make you pay for it again. I'm sticking with Tapatalk 2 until it dies.

Google play comments lead me to believe it had some major issues needing to be addressed. A lot of people said they were going back to Tapatalk 2 after purchasing.

It works great for me on the skyrocket, the HTC one and my galaxy tab 2. I like it much better than tapatalk 2. Sometimes it lags for a second on startup. No other problems here.

Smartwatches

Hey guys I'm lost on a few things. I know that HTC is coming out with a smart watch by Christmas but I was wondering if anyone knows of any that will work with our phones via bluetooth, wifi, nfc, I don't care. I do want to be able to watch movies on it though (yes my vision is that good) all I can find is a bunch of maybes and they all say 3g hence the bluetooth, pairing. Do I even need a sim card if I'm not planning on using it as a standalone phone? Even the forum here on XDA is a lot of arguing and speculation. I need help, for some reason I want to watch movies on my phone and I also want notifications and blah blah. Anyone know anything about something like this or am I dreaming? Thanks guys.

You're dreaming
Just get a Pebble and be happy with a watch that can actually be usable as one (go swimming and battery last at least five days)

Thanks man, after hours of more research your right, I am dreaming, they have video player phones but the reviews are horrible. I will look into the Pebble as the below poster suggests. Thanks for responding to my midnight crazy post guys.

Not sure I'm understanding your question but the Sony Smartwatch 2 works perfectly with my HTC One and has quite a bit of functionality and apps.

Just wait till the Moto 360 comes out. And once the iwatch comes out all smartwatches will really step up their game.
The Moto ACTV can run a full android OS. look into that, maybe. gotta be comfortable with some non-idiotproof rooting though. there's not a huge following for it so the method is there, but only for the seriously committed.
I love my Sony smart watch 2

It will open to other banks in just like 3 weeks. Nothing to be too bothered by.
Sent from my SM-N920T using Tapatalk
Just got my acceptance email. Time to play around with Samsung Pay and see if it's good enough to not root.
yeah sucks i got my acceptance email but cant register any card as i don't have any of those two banks.
Sent from my SM-N920T using Tapatalk
Just got my email invitation and added the cards. Will try later
I activated it and tried it on my machine at my work. Its pretty cool how it works but not sure if it worth not rooting for. Ad free and xposed seem to be screaming my name. Im getting the itch to make the leap.
How reliable is mst?
Sent from my SM-N920T using Tapatalk
Gas station attendant wouldn't let me use it. Said his machine wasn't equipped for it. I argued with him but let it go because there was a line. It didn't work because he didn't activate the damn swipe yet.
Nonetheless I tried it at Safeway later and it worked beautifully

They also need to add u to their Beta Testing Program on their end I believe....I only say this because I had actually downloaded the APK online prior to signing up as a tester and it wouldn't allow me to register my account. Sorry bud....
