Need help pairing DS4 controller to phone - XDA Assist

I have a asus ZenFone 3 deluxe (ZS550KL) and I recently tried to pair a Dualshock 4 controller to my phone but it doesn't work. The phone connects but when I press any button the controller remains unresponsive. On one game it says controller 1 connected but less than 3 second later it says controller disconnected. But blue tooth says that I'm connected to the controller. Please help.

[TUTORIAL] [Android 5.0] How to pair a PS3 Controller with your phone

Hy all! After a few days of searching with no luck and trying to connect a PS3 Controller to my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N9005) I finally managed to get them to work together!
My phone is ROOTED but I'm 100% sure it will work for NON ROOTED phones!
This technique works on my Note 3 but not sure about other makes or models!
So ... what do you need.
1. Your phone with Android 5.0; with the new 5.0 update the Sixaxis Controller app is obsolete and doesn't work anymore, but the sistem is able to detect the controller on it's own.
2. PS3 Controller fully charged;
3. PS3 Controller charging cable;
4. Bluetooth mouse; it might be posible to work with other bluetooth devices like bluetooth keyboard.
5. PC to connect the controller. No program needs to be installed on the PC, but it is recommended to have the DS3 and TapJoy drivers installed.
Now ... how do we pair the phone with the controller.
1. Turn phone bluetooth ON;
2. Make sure the bluetooth mouse/keyboard is not paired with your phone.
2.1 If you have a paired mouse/keyboard connect it to your phone;
2.2 When connected go to Settings >Bluetooth >Paired Devices and unpair the mouse/keyboard and press the connect button on the mouse to erase the phone from it's memory;
3. Turn the phone's bluetooth OFF and restart your phone;
4. Press the PS3 Controller reset button;
4.1 After the phone restarts turn bluetooth ON and try pairing the controller using the 0000 pin. No luck, don't worry!
5. Pair the mouse/keyboard with your phone;
5.1 After the connection is successful turn OFF the mouse/keyboard, NOT THE PHONE BLUETOOTH.
6. Press the PlayStation button on the controller;
6.1 Now the controller LED's will blink for about 3-4 seconds;
7. Connect the controller to your PC using the charging cable;
8. After about 2 minutes remove the charging cable from your controller;
8.1.1 Now the LED's blink and the phone asks you for a pin to pair with the controller;
8.1.2 Imput 0000 pin and press OK;
8.1.3 You will get PLAYSTATION(3) Controller - Connected to impit device.
8.2.1 If the LED's still blink for 3-4 seconds connect the controller bac to the PC;
8.2.2 Keep pressed the PlayStation button on your controller and remove the charging cable;
8.2.3 Now the phone will ask you for a pin to pair with the controller, imput pin 0000 and press OK;
8.2.4 You will get PLAYSTATION(3) Controller - Connected to impit device.
9. After the controller successfully connects with the phone use it to navigate through the menu for at least 30 seconds before disconnecting it.
VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!
DO NOT TURN OFF BLUETOOTH OR YOUR PHONE!
In Android 5.0 (mabe a bug or mabe just my phone) if you turn off the bluetooth or restart your phone the mouse and controller that are paired will disappear!
In order to disconnect the controller without losing the pairing go to Settings >Bluetooth and pres on the mane of the controller and a popup message will warn you that the connection will be terminated!
For the moment we have to use this way of pairing the PS3 Controller wit the phone every time bluetooth is turned off or phone restarts.
Please post the make and model of your phone here if this tutorial helped you.
Or just play your ps3....or, get an xperia z3.

Sixaxis Controller app does not work in Android 5.0, as I said in the beginning of the post!
I've been trying to duplicate what you did here on my note 3, I get to step 8.1.1 and when I disconnect from pc, the controller only blinks for 4-5 seconds and phone does not ask to pair.
I have the ds3 and motion joy drivers installed on the pc as you suggested.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
<EDIT>WOW, I kept trying and trying, and MUCH to my surprise it ACTUALLY CONNECTED AND WORKS! Thank YOU!! It works exactly as if I used the six axis app!</EDIT>
<edit2>Unfortunately I'm having a very difficult time duplicating the success. After I disconnected using the method you said I can't reconnect again...</edit2>
Folow 8.2.1, but before that press the reset button on the controller, and be sure your phones bluetooth is searching for devices!
Latest SixaxisController app works now on android 5.0!
Code:

Excuse, but with step 4, must using Bluetooth Keyboard/ Mouse? Anyone try with Bluetooth Speaker Mini?
I am on android 6.0.1 in a note 2 phone and it detects the controller but asks for PIN... i think your method is weird but works, maybe some developer can make a xposed module to do the pin thing instead of that method. Lets hope some developer read this.

Note pro 12.2 with wired XBox360 controller?

Hi all
I have a Note Pro SM-P900 with Android 5.0.2 rooted.
How does one get an Xbox wired controller to work?
I connect it with an OTC USB cable. The light (ring) on the controller blinks, but the controller does not get recognized. The app "gamepad test" does not react to pressing the buttons.
The OTC cable works fine with a 8GB memory stick.
The controller works fine with a PC.
Any suggestions are super welcome. Thanks.

I remember doing this with a tab 3, but I had to get drivers on there somehow, I'll be at work in a bit and see if I'm able to find the old link.

Connect PS4 controller (DS4) - NO ROOT!

So I am posting this everywhere as I found very little information about how to do this and trouble shooting some issues. Made a reddit post and going to post it here (I hope this is a proper place to put this).
Just hold down the PS button and Share till the light starts to flash. Go to your Bluetooth and pair the game controller.
Trouble shooting suggestions are on bottom.
Now after about 30sec, and for some unknown reason, you will run into input lag. To fix this you will need to download an app called Bluetooth Auto Connect. Once installed goto Advanced Options - Connect Now. Once you push Connect Now the input lag should be gone.
If you are looking for a clamp I just bought something called Nyko Smart Clip - PlayStation 4 on Amazon for $10. TOTALLY WORTH IT!
Trouble Shooting:
I had an issue when pairing that it would see the device but wouldn't pair. What I had to do was turn off Bluetooth, turn it back on and try again.
Another issue I had was Bluetooth Auto Connect wasn't fixing the lag issue on my Samsung Note Pro (same device I had an issue pairing, my Samsung Note 4 didn't have any of these issues). I had to uninstall sixaxis controller then restart device. Then uninstall Bluetooth Auto Connect and restart device. Then connect DS4 controller. Then install Bluetooth Auto Connect and spammed Connect Now. It seemed to work. FYI my Note Pro is rooted but my Note 4 isn't and this works on both devices!
To repair the controller to your PS4 plug it in with your charging cable and push the PS button, it will pair immediately. I personally bought a 2nd controller so I wouldn't have to do that.
Hello, I tried this with my ps 4 controller and it says that the controller is paired but the light on the controller keeps flashing and it does not respond to any input and after some time it just turns off, the Bluetooth auto connect app just says that is unable to connect to wireless controller, please help, my device is a galaxy s7 edge.
Connecting the PS4 controller works for me but can't do anything else such as can't play games or anything, maybe a future update when everyone starts to cry a bit more about how the S7 Edge isn't compatible with any controller, I have tried 3rd party controllers and the right joystick and the rest of the buttons do not work, the only thing that works is the left joystick...
Before the 7.0 Nougat update on the S7 Edge (SM-G935P) the OTP (wired) connection would crash the phone; freezing the display, hard reboot. This happened on the OFW and rooted versions. Bluetooth would pair but you'd have to try multiple times and you'd need to delete the original pairing to repair (holding the pair buttons on the controller).
After the 7.0 Nougat update, controller support had been added- albeit horribly. The only connection is an OTP connection, Bluetooth still has errors. The button configurations are wrong though, the controller is useless. Square, X and circle are all wrong and triangle doesn't even register.
This is where I'm at, anyone know of any fix? I'm not looking forward to buying a Stratus XL (works perfectly but it's 60$)
I'm about to just switch from Samsung to Sony lol.
Unfortunately the guy that wrote this article is guilty of blatant douchbaggery (what good is a paired controller that cant be mapped and starts mapped completely out of whack). Yes you can 2 button pair a ds4 controller but a ds4 controller is encrypted and requires in linux and linux like os a driver called SCP (SONY CORP.SOMTHING......) That just isnt offered by any app ive seen on droid other than sixaxis. Alternately you could always hard wire it . The major flaw in this is the inability to stop the controller from charging in this case off your phone battery. As far as the mapping goes the only issue is android uses the generic abxy combo which is cross circle square triangle in ps4 speak . in retrospect .....i suppose i should have stopped reading when the author claimed no root. The controller keylayout files (.kl) are located in/system/user/keylayout. How are u supposed to do anything to those w/o root?

syncing generic NON ORIGINAL Dualshock 3 controller with Orange Nura (Maker: Alcatel)

I have updated my controller Bluetooth address association with my phone address (with Motioninjoy on the computer) but after that when I hit the home button the gamepad doesn't even appear when scanning bluetooth devices just blinks till shutdown (even connected with OTG to the Orange Nura my gamepad doesn't blink the lights but attached to the computer with the same usb cable it does so), surfing the web I found this instructions to make a device trustable, what do you think, it will work? May someone translate this options to Android language? none of these commands work in android
wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/bluetooth_keyboard
I desperate need help, all day searching for pairing generic BT controller with android and only PS3 instructions came to me it's really awful :crying:
Thanks in advance
I do have another original Sixaxis controller which was paired to my ps3 but the mac address of the ps3 has one less character than the mobile phone!has 6 only instead of 06 which is really strange?¿
I first tried to change my phone BT address to the Ps3 address in memory, but it says "address not valid" and change nothing.
By MotioninJoy I changed the MAC associate to my phone local BT address, then with Sixaxis Controller at my mobile when I hit start it says listening for controllers I tried connected by OTG or with no cables attached and powering it but doesn't find any bluetooth device and the lights flash till shutdown.

DS4 controller doesn't pair with remote play on Z3 tablet

Good day,
I have bought a Sony Xperia Z3 tablet for remote play purposes but cannot connect my ds4 controller to it. When i open the remote play app i press register controller and hold the PS button and share to connect the controller. When it starts to blink white it directly changes to a popup saying its pairing as you can see in the screenshot. After that nothing happens and it just stays in that condition. When i press the screen it says pairing unsuccesful please try again.
I can connect the controller directly by bluetooth and the tablet responds to my controller like it should. Though when i start the remote play app and connect to my ps4 it doesn't work and i have to use touchscreen buttons.
Anyone knows this problem and have a solution for it?
