Easy way to help MIUI users. - XDA Assist

Hey everyone. A few weeks ago I bought a xiaomi phone (Redmi Note 4) running MIUI 8.1.6.0. One of the first things that I wanted to enable was the hide sensitive notification on lockscreen. What I mean is that when the device is locked you get a notification on the lockscreen and it shows the content of the message. For example If I received a WhatsApp of my dad it would show Whatsapp from dad: Buy bread. What I wanted was to hide that it was my dad and the content, so it would show 1 new whatsapp message. For some reason you can't do this from MIUI settings, but after browsing the deep web I found a way to do this, and MIUI does have this feature but it is hidden. What I found is that If you download the app called Floatify and acces the help section and click on “Disable native android notifications on lockscreen“ it shows a MIUI menu that lets you choose beetween: Show all notification content, Hide sensitive notification content and Don't show notifications at all. This is what I was looking for. This keeps on working when you unistall floatify so it is a miui setting for sure. MY REQUEST IS: Could anyone please create a simple app or shortcut to acces this settings? I think it would be easy cause you would just have to see how floatify does it and copy it. This is a very requested feature on the MIUI forum but xiaomi just tells you to disable notifications themselves, so many people would be grateful. Thanks. Contact: [email protected]

[Q] Help with BetterCut Shortcut?

Hello,
I've got a weird problem I'm trying to solve with bettercut. I think it should be relatively easy, but I'm stumped and was wondering if somebody could help me out.
I use an HTC Legend and I like SenseUI too much to change to another launcher. I use an App called SMS Popup to notify me of new messages, but this app - combined with SenseUI - creates a bug with the default Messages shortcut.
Basically, when I mark a message as Read with the SMS Popup, the default Messages shortcut keeps the notification badge telling me I have unread messages. Which is annoying, because to fix this I have to go into the messaging app, scroll to the message I've already read in order to convince SenseUI I've read it.
So basically, what I'm trying to do with BetterCut is launch the SMS app without the system treating it as a Shortcut that needs a notification badge. I read all of my SMSs immediately mostly so I never need it to tell me how many I need to read.
So far, I have the intent as:
android.intent.action.RUN
and the data as:
com.android.MMS
However, when I select this shortcut, it says the app isn't installed.
So could somebody help me either:
1. Make a shortcut with BetterCut to the default Messaging app which won't show notification badges
or
2. Turn off notification badges entirely, because I don't use them for email either and they kinda piss me off.
Thanks!
PS. I've searched forums and google extensively for this, so I wouldn't be asking if I hadn't already tried
Cheers
Anybody? I don't imagine it's that difficult, I'm just missing something
There must be somebody out there who knows how to do this
I could do this all day
Or night, depending on the time

Hide Message Previews on Whatsapp

Hi all,
I have a Moto X and love the Active Display on it. The problem is that I want to hide message details only for WhatsApp and not for others, but WhatsApp does not have the settings to disable message previews. I've searched a lot for Xposed modules regarding this but all in vain. Any suggestions?

Need an app hider ??

Hello guys, i've searched the internet alot but couldn't fine my answer.
Can anyone suggest an app (without root) that can hide or lock any app, and when any notification arrives on those hidden/locked app, the app hider shows its own custom notification instead of the original app, and on clicking it, it opens the original app of what that notification was. I need these 2 features so that no one can get even closer to my hidden apps. hope u understand

Custom App Notification Sounds

I have been having problems setting custom notification sounds for some apps, but haven't really looked too much into it until now. What I have found is that apparently from Oreo stock Android allows you to change app notification sounds, and other notification settings, from within the Android system settings (Settings > Apps and notifications). This then makes it unnecessary for apps to accommodate these sound settings from within the apps themselves like they used to. Of course many Google first party apps, such as Messages and Gmail, have adopted this new method for managing notifications. However, it would appear that Honor/Huawei in EMUI 8 have stripped out the option to change the sound from within the app notification settings screen. The result appears to be that we are unable to set app specific notification sounds for many Google apps and any other 3rd party apps that have embraced this change in Oreo. Instead these just use the system wide default notification sound.
I am not aware of any official Honor or Huawei community where we can log bugs or change requests. So how do we make them aware that this is an issue that we care about?
I presume that this hasn't already been fixed on newer devices running 8.1?
It would be really good if someone could prove me wrong. Is there some other way that we can set custom tones on an app by app basis?
Thanks.

Yup. This bugs me since I got my View 10... The function in Android Oreo is called Notification channels. EMUI supports them and shows these channels in the settings but option to change sound is for some reason missing.
There are couple of screenshots how function is supposed to look in this article: https://www.androidcentral.com/notification-channels
I wrote message to huawei's support (I think I found form on hihonor website?) and they didn't reply anything particulary useful ("you can change sounds in whatsapp!" - yeah, because it doesn't use these channels for sounds) but at least they promised they forward my "tips for improvement" to higher department, whatever that means.

App icon badges

Hi everyone, I haven't found thread on this or maybe I missed it. I'm currently using Mate 20 Lite and thinking of buying P30. I've set up everything I had to regarding notifications, battery,.. but I still don't get numbered icon badges on snapchat, gmail and few others. I know that they are not somehow officially supported and I would like to know are they working on the P30 because I use a lot of apps and I need to see almost every notification so if someone who uses these apps the same way I do, please post a screenshot. Thank you...
