Hi,
Just bought today the verizon variant of the galaxy s6, and I need help with a couple of questions:
I'm moving to Europe in the near future, would I still be able to use the phone?
From who do I get software updates? Will I get updates from verizon even if I'm abroad?
Would it be able to flash international firmware on this phone in the future? Are the models fundamentally different from each other or are they just handicapped by firmware?
Thanks in advance

Yes it works internationally, I'm using it on GSM right now and plan to use it in Egypt over the summer. You will get updates but I think verizon needs a verizon sim to check for updates but when one releases you can always check through a computer if you need to. As far as I know verizon one is the bay because it supports CDMA radios and GSM radios and comes pre unlocked while other versions like tmobile only support gsm. That's the only hardware difference, the rest is all software.
Also be careful with your phone! Nor sure where in Europe yuppie going but some classes visited Spain recently and lots of them we're pickpocketed and had something stopen.

So just to clarify, I can just purchase an EE nano sim card from amazon, take my s6 to london, pop it in, and it should work? I don't have to call Verizon before hand to get it network unlocked?

Correct. You may have to set up apns for data though. But text and voice should work out the box.
What can I do to use the GSM network, 3G !!!!

3G only for China Unicom. Add the APN of Unicom and then H+ will work.

920V is different from the international version. It supports very few LTE bands and i'm not sure it supports as many 2g/3g bands as the internation one. you may have voice but you won't have LTE.

Hi,
Didn't u have the same issue with texting?
I bought my s6 from verizon on a trip in the USA, but I live in UK and using 3 network. The only issue is the texting. I spent lot of time to figure out what is the real problem, and it seems like it is sort of prefix problem. If I receive message from someone with new number with +4407 (obviously all of them start) and I reply, message is not going to be sent and I always get a message: " Your text to speech message to 0114407..... has been rejected by recipient phone." I never use text speech btw, and it definitely prefix problem because if I send to 07... only they receive it. I changed all my contacts to 07... but still after that I couldn't reply to messages for a long time just only with the Handcent next sms app. But If I receive a new message from a new number I'll get with +447.. and I need to save it and change the number to 07.. otherwise it will never work. I found some people had the same issue in the past, but there was no final solutions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2106370
http://thedroidguy.com/2015/07/solutions-for-samsung-galaxy-s4-sms-mms-problems-part-2-110209
I am just wondering how is this gonna work abroad if I even can't use in the UK. I rooted and put clear rom, but still same.

How do I add a new APN? I found Settings -> Mobile networks -> Access Point Names but the "Add" button is greyed out
I am seeing it greyed out as well. I was planning on getting UK 3 sim cards for our trip next year.

As title, can I unlock a G Flex 2 from Sprint and use it with Tmobile?
since I checked the LTE band:
LTE band 2(1900), 4(1700/2100), 12(700), 25(1900), 26(850), 41(2500) - LS996 (Sprint)
In fact AT&T version H950:
LTE band 1(2100), 2(1900), 3(1800), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), 17(700) - H950 (AT&T)
Do not have band 12(700) for Tmobile, so should I buy the ATT or Sprint version to use it on Tmobile?
Please help, thank you!
Any input on this? Just bought a sprint flex 2 to use on T-Mobile.

If you look at the description under the phone it says this ¨3G on T-Mobile, AT&T & Other GSM¨
So I guess yes you´d have to root and try to enable band 12 to see if it gets TMO LTE.

Hey guys, I just bought the exact phone from Ebay too Blackhalo. I am going to try out the tutorial Alex has given but I am using a MetroPCS SIM card. I grabbed LTE Discovery and it let me know that MetroPCS is Band 4 for LTE. I am hoping I can swap the SIM over to this phone from my Nexus 5 and get it to work. I've rooted a few different Android phones so I don't think it should be too hard. I'll report back on my findings once I get the phone and try things out.

No, you cant access this menu cause sprint hides that normal menu with their own.
But its easy to root theres a tutorial on the Development section you should check it out and follow instructions.
Good luck, report back!

The band selection menu? No, as far as I have read, the phone needs to be rooted to open up additional bands for other networks. This was the video I was watching not to long ago:

Use the root method in development I cant assure you that any other guide you follow wont lead you into bricking your phone. Theres a guide with the ls996 and h955 i think and h950 there in development follow the guide step by step. I suggest you OTA update to ZV9 if its not yet there and then root.
Wouldn't the phone work by itself on t mobile as the sprint version of the phone has band 12 already enabled and the phone is unlocked by the seller?

See I use MetroPCS which is essentially T-Mobile for their 4G LTE. When using the LTE Discovery App, it shows my LTE being on Band 4. Thus, I wonder if Band 4 needs to be enabled for T-Mobile users? Or maybe not and the Band 4 is because I'm on Metropcs? Just some thoughts I had on the matter.

I saw your post in the root thread about having issues with the ZV9 update, and activating LTE. Would you still recommend OTA'ing to ZV9 before rooting?
Thanks for the help.
Yes. Randrew posted a fix on that same forum. So we can have that fixed immediately after rooting. Though it takes some ability to extract build.prop and edit it. Dunno how u doing with those skills.
I ended up grabbing Tmo G3 for around the same price, this is a phone for my wife so didn't want to go through to much hassle to get LTE to work, hopefully an easier fix will come along before I return the Flex 2 and I'll just keep it for myself.

i have the gflex 2 on tmobile running LTE Band 12enabled.....everything works fine.....
Just received my S9+ 256GB Korean Variant SM-G965N. This is going to be my experience with this particular variant and its compatibility with the T-Mobile network. Currently it shows I'm connected to Band 2 LTE but the speeds I'm my area are very slow. Withing the next couple days I'm am going to test the network throughout my area in Cali and test speeds and connectivity and report back. Unfortunately the build of Samsung pay is customized for S.korea only and not compatible here in the US.
Current build after first update is G965NKOU1ARC7
Baseband versions G965NKOU1ARC4
I have some data speeds this afternoon while out driving. The long screenshot is from my G965 and the short list of from a T-Mobile variant S7 . Connection to the network itself has been stable with no notice of dead spots or issues switching towers, if anything I'd say the switch is faster from what I've notice between devices.
Excellent...a lot of us have been waiting for this...thanks for testing...
I was curious about this. I have a G965U1(S9+ Unlocked North America variant).
I have a second phone with Ting GSM(T-Mobile), and I tried a few speed test. The phone configured it self to send calls over wifi when ever I connect to wifi. I found that peering with Sprint appears to be an issue.

Have you flashed T-Mobile CSC? I assume you have to root and make a custom zip to flash the files. If the phone thinks it's a legitimate T-Mobile phone then it give you full speeds.
Also is the Korean phone a duos? Dual SIM?

I dont think that is possible. Isn't the Korean version run on Exynos? Flashing a Snapdragon CSC for TMB would be wonderful but I think would mess lots of thinks up. Hopefully someone will be able to change the CSC to work on the exynos processor.
Okay so the weirdest thing happened to me. I tried to use Samsung pay a few days ago. I used app cloner to copy the working version of my note 8 snapdragon and sent it to my S9+. It didn't work and gave me the connection error. Now I was just on the phone and out of boredom I tried to open Samsung pay again while on the phone and it magically worked. It asked me for my Iris and fingerprint and I was able to add my cards again. Again, this is on exynos DBT from Germany without any modifications or OEM unlock.
Hope this will help at least with Samsung pay.

I have a friend that works at Sammy S. Korea that picked it up for me, as for Samsung pay the apk is specifically built for the Korean market and has a different activation process which requires a text from one of the local carrier networks which I cant bypass.

The build is completely different and won't work because of the region and coding in this software build. I am not ready to root yet so I'm going to tinker with software that's official and see what I can get working, improve on for now.

Not really. I'm also on T-Mobile USA and have the German exynos. The apn settings were loaded correctly. Maybe check them in the settings and make sure it's set correctly. The only thing that is not working is VoLTE and wifi calling.

ow did you do the initial setup with or without the T-Mobile sim inserted ? I noticed when I originally set my Korean variant up without the sim, for some reason I did not connect to LTE in my area and after oem unlock and restart/ full wipe it connected perfectly since.

Hi do you receive benefits in your samsung members app?
Yes if we can get T-Mobile CSC settings to enable VoLTE and Wifi calling then I will root.
I am recently realizing Samsung Pay is not everything it's cracked up to be. It doesn't seem like they have many 3rd party companies registered, so I made a custom loyalty with the barcode, but it doesn't work when it's scanned at checkout. Funnily enough, I have the loyalty in GPay as well, and it works just fine. Also SPay doesn't seem to work in gas station cc readers where you stick the card in and pull it out instead of swipe. Unfortunately it just doesn't seem like the technology is there yet where we can ditch traditional cards.

Sprint firmware? I ordered the base Note 10 unlocked and got a Sprint sim card for it directly from Samsung using their Galaxy forever program. I can trade it every year and basically be paying 1/2 the cost of a new one. It will ship on 9/4. The Note 10+ is just way to big for my small hands. I'll keep my Note 9 as a backup, traded the Note 8, and the Note 9 will be used when I need higher specs. I do like the thinness of the base Note 10 as well. Looking forward to it.

I too ordered the Note 10 as + would be too big When you get your new phone and put in Sprint sim, check to see if you have anything missing, feature wise(WiFi calling, VoLTE). If you don't then you are fine, if you do, then flashing Sprint firmware is an alternative.

Hmm, WiFi calling is built into the system, so there should not be an app needed here. Did you transfer your data, settings from your previous phone? Maybe that device had wifi calling app which got onto your new device and somehow conflicts with the current settings

Just figured in case anyone is curious regarding VOLTE on AT&T in the US.
To be clear, I have a "Global" variant of this phone. I believe its still technically a Japanese version? But it is an ROG variant and not a Tencent variant.
I am some what experienced with getting VOLTE on ROG Phone 2 as I was able to successfully. The good news is. VOLTE DOES work on AT&T. However, I had to activate it with *#*#3642623344#*#*
It doesn't show an icon on the top right that VoLTE is enabled, however, going into #*#*4636*#*# does show IMS is Registered and VoLTE is Available.
Calling does also sound like VoLTE is working and does stick on 4G during calls.
Cant seem to find the prop in ADB to always enable VOLTE yet, it seems different from ROG Phone 2.
Just thought I'd let anyone who is interested in the ROG Phone 5 and lives in the US.
I found something interesting. I Just followed the instructions that you did. After popping the sim card out and back in after enabling VoLTE the icon shows up in the status bar . I tried a reboot and it doesn't survive a reboot but it's a start in the right direction! Thank you!!!!

New Firmware gives me the VoLTE option on my phone without having to input that code. Update your phone (assuming its on WW Firmware) And you'll be good to go!

Update letest Firmware Version WW18.0830.2102.88
So Im thinking of swapping over to ATT, and with the new firmware option for this phone, do you have to have the phone rooted to enable VoLTE?

You dont have to be rooted for VOLTE to work. With the latest firmware it enables VoLTE without any kind of hack or user interaction. Haven't really gotten 5G to work but that might be due to where I am or I have to contact AT&T for it. but I do get 4G++ which Im guessing is close to 5G?

What is the model/variant of your phone?
i005DA or i005DC?
Can be found on the bottom of the box or in the booklet.
Does it work with 5G?
Thanks!
Is VoWiFi enabled for AT&T?

I do not believe that voice over wifi works. I haven't found an option and the icon has never shown on my status bar. Voice over lte is great though!

When I comment it's not release .
So we've established that VoLTE works on this phone with the latest firmware update. Can someone confirm that this means you can get this phone working on Verizon since they are decommissioning their CDMA network and that you'll need VoLTE to stay on the network?

This link shows all the ROG models that get VoLTE on AT&T.
No 5G for AT&T.

I'm on the I005DC. However, the bands that I am able to use seem to be the US compatible bands as I currently see my phone using Band 12.
Did anyone's RCS break recently? Mine is stuck on "trying to verify".
UPDATE: After looking through logcat via adb, I've come to the conclusion that I've had too many provisioning attempts and am being rate-limited. I'll disable RCS for a week and hope it resets.

Yea that would be cool to have full network support so we can game in the fastest speeds possible. I’m not complaining too much tho. I’m still happy we got VoLTE. I remember the rigamarole from the ROG Phone 2.
Just to confirm, only VoLTE works on AT&T? Nobody got VoWiFi to work?

Anyone having issues with VoWiFi NA version?
I just got the NA version of the ROG Phone 5 and sadly I cannot get VoWiFi working on TMobile. Sadly I'm in an area where I don't get the best signal and it's extremely important for this feature to work. Especially considering I spent 1k+ for...
