Hi, today I installed TWRP recovery and flashed SuperSu in order to flash lineageOS 14.1 on my Mi5 32GB but i got an error.
At the moment of flashing lineageOS, on TWRP's log appeared an error in RED:
"Zip signature verification failed!
Error installing zip file name_folder/.../lineage 14.1-20170228-nightly-gemini-signed.zip". (yes, first of that i did Wipe>>Advanced Wipe>>Dalvik & cache & system & Data and all went fine)
After that i rebooted system and the phone was stuck in MI's boot animation.
Can you help to flash lineage or just recover the phone?
I have access to TWRP recovery and fastboot
Thank you.

Hi everyone,
I had a big iussue with my phone (Motorola X10T39).
I installed LineageOS 14.1, and I recently updated it at the version 14.1-20180908.
All worked fine, but after the update I lost root privilege.
After that, I updated my TWRP recovery from the version 3.1.0-0 to the version 3.2.3-0, flashing the image(.img) in recovery mode.
The file I flashed was correct, and the phone still boot properly.
But when I turn on the phone in fastboot mode and try to select recovery I get error:
"Invalid boot image size! failed to validate recovery image Boot failed"
What can I do to fix it?
Thanks

Try these steps in order, stopping if a particular works.
- Ensure you installed the correct TWRP image for Peregrine, not for Falcon.
- Try entering fastboot mode manually, if you didn't already try to: Turn off the cell phone, then press and hold the Volume Down button for couple of seconds and while still holding Volume Down button press the Power button for a little bit and then release both buttons at the same time.
- If you updated TWRP with the Official TWRP app, try flashing it manually in fastboot mode: fastboot flash recovery TWRP image name, copied exactly. If you did flash it manually, try installing via the Official app.
- Make sure your downloads for both the Rom and TWRP image are not corrupted - re-download with md5 sum checks and re-flash with verification.
- Backup all your data (including on SD Card) and clean flash TWRP & the rom again (i.e., wipe System, cache, Dalvik cache and format/wipe Data - important).
- If issue persists, re-flash the previous version of the TWRP or rom, depending on which one is the culprit, and report to developer.

This thread is quite old (around 2 years old). But nevertheless, I am sharing my experience so that it may help someone facing similar problem. I have a Moto G 1st Gen Falcon which was running Lineage OS 14.1 based on Android 7.1.2. I was planning to update it to Android 10 based Unofficial Lineage OS. I downloaded latest TWRP zip to update existing TWRP. I rebooted into TWRP and flashed the zip. It installed perfectly. Then to check it attempted to reboot into recovery. But it instead went to fastboot mode with the error "Invalid boot image size! failed to validate recovery image Boot failed". I tried botting into recovery but was not working. I tried flashing through adb a different file but it was not working. Then what worked was booting into recovery using the command Fastboot boot recovery recovery.img. After that I was able to flash Android 10 and now everything is working perfectly.
I have been using Lineage os as a custom rom for two months now(flashed it again a few times too without any problems), the other day I just wanted to install a fresh copy and delete the old os, so I followed all the instructions in the lineageos site
1. Booted into Bootloader - Flashed TWRP - Went to Install Flashed TWRP zip for a/b partitions - also flashed Copy partitions
BUT during the WIPE I mistakenly CHOSE TO WIPE EVERYTHING IN THE ADVANCE WIPE EXCEPT FOR (USB storage and Micro SD)
Flashed the Lineage os when I rebooted the phone it went on a bootloop to the bootloader every time. So I decided to restore the stock os had a restore file of [10 GB] but when I tried to restore it I got a extractTarFork() process ended with ERROR: 255, I followed some instructions still got errors and also excluded some options in recovery like data and vendor and the restoration came through but when I tried again to install the lineageos the phone got stuck in the ASUS logo. Also I know the Lineageos flashed because I was able to go to Lineage os recovery from my bootloader
Please help me fix this.
Hello. I'm having trouble installing TWRP on my Pixel (sailfish) phone. Here's a detailed rundown to where I'm now.
I messed up by flashing the .zip file instead of booting from the .img. I restored the factory image following the instructions on the Factory Images page on Google Developers. Following that, I retried by closely following the instructions (booting into system, setting up PIN, enable debugging, rebooting into bootloader, etc.) Upon trying to install the .zip from the temporary TWRP boot, I get the errors
Code:
Failed to mount /system_data
Failed to mount /vendor
After this I'm unable to boot into recovery. Phone will get to Google screen, then shutdown and boot into system. I've tried a couple of things I've found online:
tried installing Verified Boot Signer with same errors
tried different versions of TWRP
tried factory resetting then wiping data from temporary TWRP boot
tried mounting partitions manually from menu; can only get vendor to mount
At this point I'm not sure what I might be missing. My goal is to install LineageOS + microG and rooting the device.
(Originally I tried using the Lineage Recovery for this following instructions unsuccessfully, so I'm trying TWRP instead. I'm including this in case it might have any relevance.)
Thanks in advance.
I dont have pixel,if pixel have 2 slots,u can try this way
Android = Fastboot mode.
PC to android = Fastboot boot twrp.img for temporary twrp.
Android = will display twrp,click install,pick twrp.img in android,click install ram disk,reboot system
Done
Try to reboot into recovery...it should be twrp recovery in permanently
Hello,I came to the same problom today,I tried to flash a LineageOS following this, and then install TWRP successfuly,It seemed that the latest google factory image was incompatitive with TWRP,that two partitions seem are new things that cannot be recognized by TWRP.Sorry for my poor English.
edit:It turns out no use,the TWRP app would crash and Recovery was the same.
edit again: I tried one older version of TWRP which is twrp-3.1.1-1,and It worked!
Hello! Today i tried Lineage os (came from PPUI) thought it was nice but i wanted to go back for the extra customisation options.
Steps i did: Removed screen locks
Reboot into TWRP recovery
I wiped the Dalvik+ Data+ Cache
Realised my PPUI restore was in the wrong folder and not the TWRP recovery thought i would just reboot and move it to the corect place
Then i got into a bootloop cause i wiped my os. Now phone says storage is encrypted.
Since i have no access to storage i tried to adb sideload the LOS i had in before and then just do a freshly install of PPUI. At 47% it says adb: failed to read command: No Error, (mobile mentions a magisk module missing) Any ideas?

You still should be able to access TWRP recovery? You can format data partition there and be able to use internal storage on your next boot to recovery.
From the looks of things i have formated all my storage data in my panic state. Thoughts on moving the Rom to the phone to be installed by recovery?
So as it looks i have nothing into the phone itself and i cant send files from the pc! How would i go about getting the LOS rom to the mobile and flashing from there?
Tried Adb sideload and i get error Magisk addon.d failed can not find magisk binaries. Do i flash magisk first?
Update: I get the rom in. i Flash the rom in. and im still stuck to the LOS loading screen for atleast 5 mins Thoughts?
Fixed. for some reason it was the LOS flash that had issues. when i tried flashing PPUI it worked the first time no issues
Lineage install at 47% for poco
I use lineage recovery and I didn't encounter any magisk thingy. That sound like a previous os persistence script which shouldn't be loaded in the first place....but still did for unknown reason
However, important to note that other user flashed using twrp without issue
Try these steps
1. Format Data
2. Sideload latest firmware
3. Sideload nightly LineageOS
4. Sideload opengapp arm64 (if you are using)
5. Sideload magisk (if you are using)
Boot
Hey guys, just got a NOS One Vision to install LineageOS but when I try to fastboot flash recovery "LineageOS zip"
I always get an error because the recovery partition does not seem to exist.
Then I tried TWRP on external storage. TWRP can boot then install itself: boot recovery from volume down boot up,
but then TWRP always gives an error 255 on flashing lineageOS that way.
Please help!
Just so you know, the phone came with android 9. After my tries, I factory recovered it and it is now at 11
but I did nothing since.
Any ideas?
Update: After letting the Motorola recovery tool upgrade the phone to 11, installing LineageOS went as per instructions
