I have no cell signal after slight water damage and was wondering if the daughterboard or motherboard is resonsible for the cellular reception? I know the coax cable runs to both.

Maybe due to the coax cable/network antenna itself and not motherboard...
You can find one of those on Ebay.

I have ordered a new coax as well as a new daughterboard. The daugtherboard has signs of water damage so maybe this is the issue as well. Will update when parts arrive.

Did you manage to fix your One in the end?

Hello,
my firend's qtek s200 has this problem.
There is a 1,5 cm circle in the center of the screen where it won't "touch".
I took the phone appart, and even removed the touchscreen layer from the lcd.
I then glued it back on but the problem still exists.
If he buys a lcd+touch screen from ebay, will that be enough? I mean, could it be a problem on the motherboard?
Any help is appreciated
Thanks
Did you check also the flat wire that connects lcd to main board?

Yep, it seems to be in a good condition.
I reconnected it, cleaned it etc.
I've same problem.
Have you solvet it?
Thanks
Have you, when you put your SIM in the One S that there are a set of brown lines at the back of the sim-card cover?
What are these? There are 3 connection points on the phone that seems to connect to these. Are these the antennas?
If so, when you have bad reception/slow GPS etc, have you checked that this cover are snuggly and correctly fitted back on? That there are no dirt on the connectors?
Was wondering the same thing myself. I'm tempted to try and lift the connectors up a little to see if that will improve the signal.
Sent from the (problematic?) One S.
I did notice... Not sure what they are though. My guess was antenna related as well. Might not be the cell antenna (they look rather small).

Yes it is the antennae.
A little preface. I've repaired numerous phones and have never had a problem like this.
Foward to now: I had a guy come to me with two evo shift 4g's with cracked screens that were working fine just cracked which to me didn't look like a problem. It's litterally 4 connections alltogether but what I have found is that my digitizer will work for a second then stop. Battery pull then it works for a minute and then back to not working. The problem is that it's both of the phones that are acting the same way.
Question: Is this a common problem because I know all my connections are perfect and I'm getting tired of going back through these phones,
Any help is appreciated.

Did you replace the Digitizer as an assembly? Meaning the Digitizer, and the LCD. Or did you just replace the Digitizer Screen? Also when you were in there did you make sure and inspect the Flex Cable thoroughly? I have found that even the small breaks in the Flex Cable will cause, weird issues to occur.

I replaced just the digitizer as the lcd screen was fine and working properly. I've got a desk magnifier when I take the phones apart and all the connections were seated correctly, ribbon cables were all in the same shape as they came, no tears and scuffs anywhere. This is why im just aggravated because what else could this be?
What your mentiioning points to a Flex Cable issue. But if your sure, then I'm at a loss. Did you make sure and put all the fasteners back in? Did any of the connectors act weird when being reconnected? That sometimes ends in a bent Pin.

Well the flex cables looked fine when I took it off the back of the lcd. The flex cable had 4 connector spots. One snap on connector to the board and three push to snap connectors (one at the top where the speaker is and two at the bottom).
My thing is that the digitizer for the shift had a peice that you had to bend on top of itself so it would have the correct length to snap into the connector at the top where the speaker is. If never felt good about bending ribbon cables but thats how the ones before this one came and even in the videos they did that. It just makes me wonder if that could be the reason.
Hmmmm... if the Flex Cable was actually bent, instead of gently curved that could possibly cause issues. But it doesn't seem like that is what's going on here. I would check everything again. Especially the Flex Cable, and connections.

I'm just fed up with this thing. I just went through it again and I've gotten to the point I'm just gonna buy the phone from my customer and leave it at that. I've never seen a phone give me so much damn trouble. Thanks for all your help!
I was looking back through my notes ( yes I do enough were I have to keep notes ) just now. I found something that might interest you. Had something sort of similar occur a while back. The device was giving me serious headaches. Well I had forgotten to ask how the device was damaged. When I asked the woman how the device was damaged. She explained that it had been dropped on a curb, and then fallen into a puddle. She then dried it out, and bought it to me. I had repaired two phones for her previously. So I never thought to ask how this one was damaged. The thing was being dropped in water, was what ruined it. Caused all kinds of issues I could not resolve. Ended up switching the Mother Board for her. That was the only thing that resolved the issue. So you may want to ask if the device has been dropped in water. But it's not just that easy. Because you then have to deal with Sprint, because in essence it changes the Phones ID .
one of the pogo pins has broken off by one plus, not exactly sure how to repair it. it doesn't appear as if it was soldered to the board originally. Was thinking hot glue or super glue. what do you think?

Hey, Did you manage to fix that pogo pin. I have the same problem, and I get no cellular network right now :crying:
Nope, luckily for me the broken pin had zero effects on my wifi/bluetooth or cellular network.
Sorry for the necro thread but anyone finding this on google the two pogo pins next to the solder joints for the power button ribbon cable are for the NFC antenna from the information I can find
this pogo pin is for gps. mine fell out and i have no idea where to get replacements. any suggestions?
i broke 1 wifi+bluetooth pin... i think i might put some soldering iron on it and check the result... how did you guys managed
any updates here? I have broken one of the GPS pogo pins (lower one from top). I do have the pin and some noob soldering skills.. Any help will be great..
thanks
Hi,
After a long time of finding out why I don't have a cell signal anymore I finally found something that could be causing the problem.
If you take off the back panel, there are these gray lines on the bottem of the device, there's a path on the motherboard from the white and black antenna cables all the way up to these lines.
On my device these gray lines have a hole in them on both side. So I figured this might be why I don't have a signal, don't see what else it could be.
Here's a comparison of a new device and mine http://imgur.com/a/CuOZL
Could this be a possible explanation? If so, can I fix this at home or do I need to get a new part?
Thanks.

I had the same gaps in mine, but no problems with signal. When you first removed the back cover, there is some glue there which will have pulled this off.
I changed the speaker module (for a completely different reason), it's a pretty easy job. The part is quite cheap (I paid about £12), so may be worth a try.

Thanks. I guess I'll just buy new antenna cables and the part with the lines on them and hope for the best.
Before you do that, just make sure everything is connected properly. The daughter board is at the bottom, under the speaker module (the part with the lines on) and there is a narrow ribbon connection that runs up the left hand side, connecting to the main board just above the battery.
Try pushing down firmly on this connection.
I'll try this, I have actually replaced the daughterboard with another one but it didn't have any succes. But it might just be a bit loose.
Didn't work

Same thing happened on mine, it worked fine though.
The speaker module is pretty cheap, just replace that if it doesn't work.

I replaced that module and signal strength improved a lot. Also the speakers were cleaned and it improved the sound volume too.
