[Q] i9300 heating problem

Hi everyone,
I've got a problem with my Samsung GT-I9300(Galaxy SIII) device.
The problem is each time i install some custom ROM (no matter if the kernel original or not is), my CPU is getting very hot extremely fast, even if i'm not using apps that can use a lot of memory/CPU.
Please tell me what the kind of problem is it and how to get rid of it.
Thanks
[Answear]
Try
1)Turning down the brightness
2)Turning off un-needed apps properly
3)Dont leave your android screen on when not sitting on it
4)Take out SD-Card (when not needed)
5)Dont play on your android while charging
6)Change wallpaper
(if the problem continues Please reply) :fingers-crossed:

No, it doesn't help. I've stopped all the processes every time i stopped using it and so on, but it's heating evenso. [And the check-programm shows that most time CPU was used fully-4 cores, 1,4GHz]

You could try buy a new phone? or exchange it or even try get this one checked out
No.

The most interesting that it's not a phone problem. When I install some kind of stock OS (no matter if it's XXEMG4 kernel or XXUFME7 etc.), everything is OK.
BUT DON'T RECOMEND ME TO FLASH STOCK OS! I'M THE CUSTOM OS's FUN!!
Tweak the build.prop for battery related lines...and yea also frequently clear the ram.. And browse the net for prevention of overheating of battery and install the scripts..

No problem with battery. CPU is overheating - I've checked this.
Root your phone and install v6 supercharger. Makes your phone faster and uses less ram so less cpu consumption and less heating

The review is 7 parts
1-Installation
2-Performance
3-Sensors & GPS

7-Bugs
1-Installation
you gonna need a windows PC , USB cable and make sure to download the latest ODIN version, All the links are available in the 2nd post

2-Make sure that your battery is more than 50 percent
3-turn off your device
4-enter the download mode by holding the power button+home button+volume down key
5-on your pc extract the firmware package(use Winrar or winzip) It will take some time according to your PC speed
6- You will find 4 files after the extraction process
7-Connect your device to the PC, Make sure to use the Stock cable
8-Open ODIn as administrator ( If ODIN doesn't recognize your device then you need to install USB driver for your device)
9-Now select BL and choose BL file , this is your bootloader file
10-Click AP and choose the AP file, This file will take up to 3 minutes to load so be patient.

-This process will take 3 to 4 minutes if you are using the Stock usb cable,The device will reboot in order to erase every thing in the internal storage then It will reboot again to start the installation process
Installation FAQ
1- will the installation affect the device warranty? no it won't ,cs it is

Yes you can install it whatever custom ROM you have.
Installation Video
2-Performance
-For the first time on Samsung devices you can choose the performance profile you need -There are 4 profiles (normal which is the
default mode, Game,entertainment,and high performance)
-every profile has a different settings to give you the best performance according to your needs but you can modify those settings if you want. -Some of you will ask me if I noticed any changes between the 4 modes modes, and I'm gonna answer your question by doing a simple test
-I've done a benchmarking test using antutu APP While normal mode is active and the score is 90000
-Then I've done the same test while performance mode is Active and the score 130000 which is almost the same like MM
-If you want better performance then choose the performance mode but keep in mind that this will affect your battery life
-According to my experience while using the device in normal mode that everything running flawlessly and the device is very
responsive.
-RAM management is great , you can run more than 5 heavy APPs in the background and switch between them very fast and you also still able to run
more APPs at the same speed regardless how much RAM space you have.
3-Sensors and GPS
Sensors and GPS antenna are very important to your device , I've done sensors test and all the sensors responded very well
(accelerometer , Gyroscope, light sensor, Proximity sensor, etc) and I've never experienced any bugged sensors in the past 7 days
GPS antenna is perfect , It caches a 3D fix while indoor and the accuracy is very very good for navigation.
4-Battery Life
Battery life still the same like MM for me but keep in mind that the battery usage vary from user to another .
while using the device in Normal mode(Making calls, Playing light games, using Common APPs like what's APP telegram and Chrome) Over WIFI, I've got 24 hours on battery and more than 5 hours SOT which is almost the same for me on MM .
While using the device in performance mode (location enabled, using Google MAPs for navigation,Making voice calls over 2 hours) I've got 17 Hours on battery and 4 hours SOT which is also the same for me on MM while heavy usage.
The good part in Nougat that you have the ability to change the screen resolution and Performance Mode to get more battery life.
Power saving mode is available with 2 options
1-Medium power saving mode
2-Maximum power saving mode which is the same like UPSM but with a different user interface.
5-Gaming performance
Gaming performance is awesome as it was in MM ,You still have game launcher and you can adjust gaming performance settings as you used to do before. Game tools have the same features but in this version you can see the recent APPs on the right side of the screen
I've tested some high graphic games (Asphalt 8,NFS most wanted,Asphalt Xtreme )and all of them running nicely no lags or stutters or slow responses You can get the best gaming experience by activating Game Mode , which is completely new feature in Android Nougat.
Features

There is no auto brightness button and the brightness slider only appears in full toggles pull down.
If you press any title under the toggle you will access to more settings related to the selected toggle

Device maintenance is completely new feature ,It will optimize your device very fast and it is much better than smart manager ,5 shortcuts for (battery , Performance mode , storage , RAM,device security)
You still don't have the ability to format SD card as internal adoptable storage.
Finger print is working ,I didn't notice any improvement or any different response
All language are supported
All keyboard language inputs are supported
Camera software has a different layout and gestures (Like Note 7) but all the options still the same,All the modes are working,Image and video quality are
the same as MM firmware.
Bugs and fixes -I've been using the firmware for almost 7 days , So I'm gonna share with you the problems I've got till now
1-S health is not working , I think cos my device warranty is void , So If your device was rooted before you will got the same issue
2-Some of the Apps didn't work normally like what's App voice messages is too low compared to MM
3-Some of the Apps didn't work at all like Facebook
4-Some users reported that Samsung music crashing but for me every thing working without a problem.
Now you will ask me , can I use it as daily driver? the answer here depends on your needs, if you can find an
alternative for Apps like Facebook and you don't need S health then sure you can use it as daily driver.

Yeah but it cannot be done through ODIN
For people stuck on beta1 (those which are not registered to beta program and flashed by odin). I found solution for not working facebook app. Downloaded version 99.X.X.X from apk mirror. Those versions working fine. Only remember untick autoupdate in google play for facebook app.

[TIP]Getting the best out of your phone.

HEATING:
Heating while charging isn't an issue pls. You can let your phone cool down before charging it in a cool place. You can either power it off or put it on Airplane mode while charging. (This will reduce the charging time and also some activities by apps which slow the charging) Heating is normal while charging owing to the Quick Charge x.0 capability of Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 (MSM8952). It will heat up. Heating is reduced in the latest builds, especially while recording video via the camera. This semi-budget oriented processor isn't designed for heavy gaming pls, despite 3GB of DDR3 RAM available to it. If you're a hard core gamer or someone who likes to overclock stuff, this isn't the right phone.
If you feel your phone is heating with normal usage too, consider removing apps which are useless and clear the cache followed by a reboot. See to it that the apps are updated. You can switch to WiFi instead of Mobile Data (keeps my athene cool idk why). If nothing works, consider a factory reset; else shift to a custom ROM if you can and test.
PERFORMANCE:
General phone performance of Nougat has been better than Marshmallow for sure, but for many, 7.0 has had the notification drawer stuttering issue in some cases and Bluetooth being turned on automatically after turning Airplane mode ON. Overall experience is smooth. But many people do not like stock ROM very much, because of the lack of features. AOSP and LineageOS based ROMs are much better that stock in terms of speed. For god's sake don't use the task killer apps or battery savers like CCleaner / CleanMaster/ DU Battery Saver. Apps staying in the memory (RAM) are good for your device until your phone is lagging. Clearing the things from the recents panel will force them to start again from scratch, consuming the CPU and of course the battery.
BATTERY & CHARGING:
Stock N wasn't very good in terms of battery after all in comparison to MM despite the improved doze mode introduced in Nougat. Well this is the case in almost every android OEM that the battery performance went down in transition from one Android version to another. However, the March 1 update is said to fix a bit of battery and security issues. Android has the habit of collecting garbage (but that makes it smart too) and this can be one of the reasons why battery and performance issues occur after an OTA. The best thing after a "dirty/problem causing" update is to do a factory reset. Anyways, it is advised to clear the cache before and after doing an update.
Battery Saving and charging Tips:
Please understand the difference between Screen On time of a complete cycle and the usage time. People start judging the battery from the estimated time left after the first charge itself. A tip is to fully charge the battery after a clean flash and then let it drain till 15%. Do not let the battery drain completely, Li-ion batteries lose their capacity over time and are designed to run between 20-100 percent. Battery life of your phone is completely dependant on your usage. Turning off Auto-Rotation, WiFi, Bluetooth, Sync, Mobile Data, Location Services and scanning (almost everything ) when not needed can give you the best battery life possible. You can consider using Greenify although you should avoid any such thing. Android learns how you use it, no need to comment about the 2 H SOT you're getting after a clean flash. You might also want to uninstall the useless apps and block the wakelocks (which you understand) if possible. Turn off the SIM card if it's in very low network. If nothing is helping you, you might consider doing a factory reset too.

Ghost Touch: Your touchscreen is at fault. Visit the service center please.
Screen Retention: Your display is defective. Turning the phone off for a while and then setting blue light filter at 5% for Black colour or changing the RGB values is a temporary fix. Visit the service center please.
Random Reboots: Try factory resetting your device, see if you installed something wrong and flash latest stock firmware, just in case, you know. Else the service center only can fix the issue if still present.
For not being called a noob:
1. Read XDA and other forums and think before you do anything to your phone.
2. Ask in the community if you have doubts. (Read Rules and XDA University's New User's guide first)
3. Always make backups before flashing new things. (Use TitaniumBackup and TWRP backups)

5. Stop using useless apps and be patient pls.
Valar Morghulis!
Good thread, I'll add a couple of my tips here.
- ohmergerd, there's thousands of ROMs for the G4! Which ones are the best???? Nearly every single ROM for the G4 subtracting perhaps GZR ROMs and RevivorOS/optimized stock is LineageOS based (Invicta is basically Lineage with MM kernel blobs and faux/OMS integrated). There's basically no performance differences, just feature differences based on the discretion of the dev.
- If heating is STILL an issue for you, disable the 4 big cores. There isn't a significant difference in everyday use- the LITTLE cluster handles the UI and basic apps anyway.
- Haven't noticed notification bar lag since the 7.1.2 builds. If you have lag (depending on your ROM), using blur or transparency helps trick your eyes into seeing no lag. If lag persists, force enable scrolling cache and speed up the animations.
- If you have a custom kernel and your RAM usage isn't an issue, disable KSM, Adaptive Memory Killer, and/or ZRAM and Kernel Adiutor/EXKM. While useful if you let your memory use skyrocket, if you are conservative in your memory use these memory killers just suck up CPU cycles.
- Build prop tweaks/L Speed/HEBF don't work. Completely placebo, except for governor tweaks.
- USB-OTG is great, I recommend getting a dongle if you're a flashaholic. Much easier and quicker to simply plug in your USB to flash instead of plugging in your phone, transferring the ROM, flashing, etc.
- Use a trickle charger, and save that fast charger for emergencies (camping, flights, etc.).
- Disable a bunch of Google's **** in settings- I advise going through Activity controls as Google takes snippets of keyboard input, voice, web history, video history, etc. This adversely affects battery life especially if you have a weak signal, as Google Play Services continuously attempts to push through their telemetry data. This is also why you get 2hrs of SoT after a clean flash.
- On stock-based ROMs (to eliminate lag), boot the ROM once, then reboot to recovery and flash the latest Aroma GApps package with the apps you want. Then, mount /system, and start deleting all apps in /system/app or /system/priv-app that begin with "3c". This effectively removes Motorola updates and telemetry, and also updates your GApps- the stock GApps are very old, and updating them caused Play Store errors and miscellaneous battery sucking services.
- Mr. Shield Protectors suck. Badly cut-out, misaligned, etc.
Hard reset: A term with the common misconception here in the group. Hard reset means nothing in android smartphones. It is only a term for older computers where you manually had to reset the old electrical parts from the charge they held.
Factory reset via the settings is equivalent to the Wipe Data/Factory reset available in the stock recovery.
Also, always sign out from your Google account before doing the wipe, else chances are your device may enable Factory Reset Protection and lock the device.
Normally my phone was using two BIG cores (and the four LITTLE ones). Each core was utilized around 40-60%.
Withing kernel manager I have set the minimum value for the BIG cores to 1 and I have lowered the minimum frequency value for that core. Now the utilization on that core is close to 100%.
Now the phone is cold all the time (except when charging with the Fast Charger) and I have no lag issues whatsoever.
Oh, btw, on some kernels (EX 1.07, Vegito), workqueue power saving is built in which iirc tries to schedule tasks on the fewest cores as possible, so on these kernels which tend to turn off cores and lower frequencies while asleep the wakeup action, especially while dozing, the wakeup action will be met with significant lag/delay.
If you have a delay when turning on your phone with these kernels (or even stock kernels for some ROMs), disable the setting called wq_power_saving.
I have the solution for random reboots. But only for those devices that reboots 4 or 5 times every day. Just open your device and disconnect the battery for 30 minits. Or also you can change the battery (confirmated it works)

Thanks for the tips.
Using Root explorer I deleted the 3c stuff and updated the Gapps via Aroma installer (never knew this Aroma version existed).
Where do I find the Activity controls thing?

It's in settings>Google, first 3 menus iirc.
i just had to unroot, re-lock my boot, and flash the latest firmware because someone has been hacking my phone. I purchased a Samsung phone and been switching the SIM between phones. I wish custom ROMs were more secure, flashing every ROM available, some took longer then others. After seeing that the Samsung KNOX wasnt able to be hacked, i decided to flash your stock N package. They are yet to get in my XT-1644 since earlier after the flash.
Am i stuck on the Stock ROM or is there a way to keep from getting a rooted with unlocked bootloader, hacked?

Unable to see CPU Frequency on Android 7.0 Nougat

After update 7.0 Nougat on my Xperia XA (F311) I am unable to see CPU Frequency in any app. On Xperia XA/XA Ultra Forum a guy sad that its because of app that is not updated for android 7.0 and many users of android 7.0 are having problems like me so I need to contact the developer. I think that is not true because I tried every single app for showing CPU Frequency and every app says that all of my 8 cores are stopped and even shows that base frequency is 0-0MHz instead of showing something like 300-1950MHz. Only CPU percentage (%) is showing (like 36% CPU is used). Do I need to enable something in Settings I don't actually know... On Android 6.0 Marshmallow I was able to see CPU Frequency usage so I don't know where is problem. If someone has solution or even seems to have the same problem like me I would be very thankful to share experience here. Please help and Cheers!!
Edit: On my Older phone Xperia M4 Aqua every CPU Frequency showing app is working just fine and phone with me is still very smooth and note that I take so much care to my smartphones.

8 hrs of SCREEN ON TIME on SAMSUNG A30

DO IT AT UR OWN RISK AS ANY DAMAGE CAUSED I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE TO UR DEVICE !!!
Hello fellow users of the great A30
As we all use this phone , we have seen the best and the worst things about the device.
The lower cost phones like M30 AND M30S have massive batteries compared to our A30!!
I decided on sharing what i do to save battery and get the best experience out of my device so can you!!
I have been using three things for this-
1. Package disabler pro
(USE AT UR OWN RISK AS IT IS QUITE POWERFUL)
(I have uploaded a jpg on the disabled ones as i was unable to export the xml...will update if do and ignore all private apps like bromite, kiwi etc)
2. Battery saver (inbuilt)
3. Always dark mode enabled
(4. Removing animations is completely optional and doesnt cause much change ..moreover the device feels smoother with these enabled )
I dont know how much battery are u guys getting but i am easily getting awesome battery as well as far smoother performance from my device!!!
U can see the battery usage below and yeah tell me if u try it as its completely safe and truly u dont lose any functionality moreover. Some settings like biometric settings might be disabled but fingerprint scanner works perfectly.
Disable all geastures too if u like.
One more tip is to not charge above 80 percent regularly or below 20 percent to prevent battery degradation.
I have never let mine touch 20 percent ever and i have had this for one year.
Let me know if u try and al the best.
Any doubt let me know.
Hit thanks if u like!
BUT BUT DO AT UR OWN RISK !!
Some more things!!
1. Using mobile data will cause a faster battery burn but i have not seen much of it maybe getting 40 min of screen on time per 10 percent instead of 1 hr.
2. I have auto brightness always on (no hassle)
3. Use fast charging whenever necessary as it will degrade battery faster.
4. Disable sync as well and prefer using an alternate email client with independent sync capabilities if u require so.
