Chroot ubuntu on android device - brainstorm

Okay so basically, if you check out www.androlinux.com or search for youtube for ZedoMax, the guy has hacked ubuntu onto android.
I followed his instructions to a point, had to use rootstock to create a lucid kernel though (for lts). He provides four scripts, another file and an .IMG - I made mine.
Basically, documentation issues + a linux noob mean I cant find all the files it created on my phone, kill em all, and try again.
If somebody could take a look at the scripts and let me know what they think, I would be wholly appreciative!!
Also if anyone knows of a workaround to viewing the GUI over vnc thatd be awesome too!
Ps I know of the official version.. Thats not the solution im looking for.. As you can run apps directly in ubuntu im thinking of an interface app for it but thats another days tasking.
Sent from my LT18i using XDA
Some of the ported games use SDL for the Interface, maybe that is a way?
I'll bear this in mind - my Coursework atm is modding IOQuake3 Thanks dude

GCC make for Android?

Hello everyone. I'm looking for a way to use gcc make natively on Android. I know would supposedly be slow and heat up my cpu, but I don't get enough time on my computer to develop via a cross compiler.
Something like this would be ideal:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1645182
I'd post there asking about a download link but the forums won't let me until I've made ten posts.
If anyone has any ideas how to get this working I'd love to hear them!
I found a gcc binary here:
rwiki.sciviews.org/doku.php?id=getting-started:installation:android
I don't know what version it us but it seems to run. I think I will try compiling gcc from scratch.
Can bionic libc be replaced with the full version of libc? Or would that break things?
Next up I think I'll try to get bash on this phone.
I'll post an update when I have gcc fully working.
I've found an app that does most of what I needed, called Terminal IDE on the play store. I now have a mostly functional development environment on my phone.
Next up, some of the open source software I want to port uses autoreconf, which is part of automake. Unfortunately, automake needs access to /tmp/ during configure, which doesn't exist. I guess I'll just have to edit the configure file on my PC and point it to a path that's accessible.
Does anyone know of an automake binary for Android?

Tcping for Android?

I use the linux utility "tcping" to troubleshoot network related issues from behind a firewall. I'm not really a coder, but I've been trying for a while to compile it from source on my Android phone because I would like to be able to verify that all of my APs are up when I'm on the road. I haven't had any luck getting it working though.
Does anyone know if this can be ported to Android? http://www.linuxco.de/tcping/tcping.html
debian kit?
For now I can only think of a debian kit to omit the halt
Yeah, I was able to use it with Debian kit on my Photon, but now I have a Galaxy Note II and the Debian installation process always freezes up when I try it. I was hoping someone would be able to show me how to compile a more native solution.

[Q] Multi-Boot Linux Project

Hello, I was just wondering if anyone had any tips. I'm converting my son's HP Mini 110-1012nr into a multi-Linux project just for fun. I have Ubuntu 12.10, Chromium OS and am attempting to add Android-X86. The problem is my son's wifi adapter: It's a Broadcom 4312 and does not play nice with Linux. I was successful with the Ubuntu and Chromium builds, but just can't get it set up on any x86 version of Android I can find. It helped that I could get the ethernet working in Ubuntu and program on USB before actually installing Chromium. Anybody have any tips? Builds? Pointers? Or if you would just like to discuss my project (which I am having fun with in my quest to move my family out of the Bill Gates dependency), then feel free. Thank you in advance.

Well it is going to be hard to get Android x86 working with a WIFI Adapter especially BCM4312
Anyways here you go.

You may have to remove specifics about Dell Lattitude XT and simply
use the script that download the driver from Broadcom web site and
patches the build system...
In-short, you have to compile your own Kernel to get it working
Thank you for the reply. I was thinking that too, but am hoping to avoid building my own. It might be fun to take on though. Your link is one I hadn't seen before. I know Broadcom released the drivers to a dev from dell (that's how I got Chromium to work). I am too new to post the link, but hit me up if anyone is interested. I'll find a way to get you the link.
The link that I gave should help you out without even having to Compile your own Kernel, bcz I did come across one such post

FWUL Salt dependencies "key could not be looked up remotely"

Im trying to use SALT and FWUL, but its a real headache! I can't find much documentation on it and I'm new to the whole linux thing. There is not apt-get in FWUL and When I try to intall SALT dependencies according to this page :https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/tool-locked-unlocked-salt-the-lg-up-revolution-begins.3717864/ It gives me an error that says "key could not be looked up remotely". Sorry if this isn't int eh right thread, but i don't know where else to ask this, nobody knows what I'm talking about. Ironically the FWUL which claims to be "headache free from drivers" also won't detect my wifi card on macbook, so I have to use Ethernet. Its not very straight forward for someone like me that barely knows how to use it in the first place. Any tips? I'm New to linux Im sorry, Im just tired of trying to get this to work.
