Is there any way to root the Asus Zenfone 2 (6.0.1) WITHOUT unlocking the bootloader? - General Questions and Answers

I'm referring to the ZE511ML/Z00AD on build MMB29P.WW-ASUS_Z00A-4.21.40.223_20161216_7766_user .
I've tried Framaroot, iRoot, Towelroot, KingRoot, KingoRoot and Root Genius.
I've also tried with this, this and this but they all give me something like a "You're not allowed to flash to this partition" error.
Is there a currently working method to root the Zenfone 2 WITHOUT unlocking the bootloader?
Extra question: if I manage to get root access, can I still download official updates, do I have to unroot first or will I be forever banned from the updates server?

[Q] unknowingly rooted my xperia L without unlocking the bootloader

I bought a new xperia L from ebay.in...
its C2105...and it was having some chinese applications...but i didn't want them....so i uninstalled some of them.
but some applications could not be installed. so i thought to root the phone to uninstall those applications. i wrongly rooted the phone using vroot without unlocking the bootloader..
now the superuser that happened to appera after rooting it is not allowing me to unroot....please help
Maybe this will help you, and using vroot to root...its a.............

What I would do is a clean re-install via PCC/SUS to the latest firmware-that way the the root files are cleaned up, then root via the method faizalotai has linked to.
Also you may want to refrain from using VRoot. Apparently it was deemed risky on XDA recently, I can't find the post saying so but am sure I've read it somewhere.
rooting and bootloaders have nothing to do with each other.
you can root and not unlock the bootloaders
or
you can unlock your bootloaders and not root
Rooting gives you admin level access on the phone, to change system files and access stuff a normal android phone can't unless rights for applications can be elevated to root.
Unlocking the bootloaders allows custom kernels that are flashed to the phone to boot.

[Q] EE Kestrel

Hi
I have a EE Kestrel.
I ran Towelroot on it. Towelroot says that it has been successfully rooted, however SU will not work, and check root apps say that it is not rooted. I only wish to root it to rid it of bloatware and run an adblocker !
It is running the latest OTA update and is Android 4.3 I think.
The bootloader is not unlocked (although I have asked Huawei to unlock it).
Is that the issue or is it something else?
Thanks.
PS I have read all the threads I could find and no solution ....

[Completed] Xperia M2 Aqua D2403 Kingo Root

Hello people of XDA, I don't know if this is the right place for the post, I'm sorry if it isn't. I have a problem with Kingo Root, I used it to root my BL locked M2 Aqua (D2403), root checker confirms root, but whenever I try to use anything with root, even if I grant access it says I don't have root (Xposed, BusyBox, Root browser, ROM Toolkit). Now I'm guessing it just pasted the files and my guess is that root checker works only by seeing if the SuperUser program grants it permission. As I've seen a lot of people have had problems with rooting the device, so I just want to give up and restore unroot. The problem is, I can't remove the SuperUser app from Kingo Root, I've tried substituting it with SuperSU via the Terminal, but as it is not rooted properly, it cannot be done, aswell as trying to unroot with Kingo Root, but failed, so I want to ask you if there is a way for me to remove this, and maybe possibly root the device with the bootloader locked? Thanks in advance!
Hi there
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. There definitely isn't a dedicated section for your device on XDA, however a quick search uncovered the following thread:
[Q] Root Xperia M2 Aqua(D2403)
It doesn't seem very positive at first but take a look at post #9, he links to a root method that he says works. So I'd start there.
Good luck

rooting galaxy j4+/sm-j415gn without oem unlock

Hello. i am trying to root my phone so i can recover files that i have lost. I have tried several softwares and most of them needed my phone to be rooted. I do not want to unlock my oem locker as a factory reset may overwrite some deleted data.
i have seen some rooting apps such as kingo root and king root so i was wondering if it was perfectly fine using these apps on my phone.
thanks!
It's basically IMPOSSIBLE to root the phone without unlocking the bootloader without exploits. And no king root does not support the J4+
Do you know any exploits I should use?
