Change Galaxy S7 CSC - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hello, i'm trying to change my DBT(germany) CSC with UK one but even if i flash with odin last uk firmware with repartition, every time phone restarted main language and CSC doesn't change. How can i align product code, CSC and firmware?
Thanks

I had the same problem. After 8 unsuccessful attempts I was able to change CSC. But I had to flash ETL ROM and after that I was able to flash BTU. DBT and VDC/VD2 are nasty multi CSC.

This means you have to root the phone right? Can it be done without rooting?

I did not root me phone. CSC can be changed, but it's challange for VDF/DBT firmwares.
As I said, after 8-9 attempt I achieve to change CSC (also had custom status v DN mode).

Ah, you have custom state too... why happened this and is there a way to revert back to official?

Than, it happen randomly? Maybe if i flash another one firmware mine also could become "official" again?

It is randomly. If you flash another official firmware, it will change to Official status.

Hi XDA community,
I have a stock S7 Edge, which now has the XSG CSC (UAE). I want the XFA CSC (unbranded South Africa).
Problem is XSG and XFA are part of a multi CSC (OJV). Everything I've read says this can't be done unless I root my phone which I'm unwilling to do for now.
I'm sure there's a smart someone out there that has figured out how to do this!

[Q] Firmware change unsuccessful

I bought my S6 in Colombia although I live in Panama. It is the SM-G920I.
I found that a Panama app I wanted to install would not install because it said the country was wrong. I guess that may be something to do with the CSC. I had naively assumed the phones in Colombia would be the same as the phones available in Panama. I now see from Sammobile that there are different firmwares for Colombia and Panama. So I downloaded the Panama firmware and installed it with Odin. Odin did its stuff and said that the installation was successful. Both firmwares are 5.0.2.
However, when the phone rebooted it was exactly the same as before and PhoneInfo still shows it as having the Colombian firmware. The only change was that I lost my Pingpong root.
Sorry for the long explanation but what have I done wrong? How can I get the Panama firmware on the phone?
TIA

You Need to download another firmware, i recommend to you to download the Trinidad And Tobago firmware, i tell you because latin america has csc codes for many countries but if your country does not have csc code it sets to latin american firmware because of your EFS Folder, if it doesnt work to you please download a firmware from France or Spain. if you doesnt want to lose pingpong root do not upgrade to a kernel made after 15 May 2015
Please do not upgrate to 5.1.1 Firmware it Sucks

Thanks. I will give that a try. Would it be the CSC that is stopping the app I want from installing, saying it is the wrong country?
If so, is there an easier why just to change the CSC? I have done some searching but everything I've found seems to be quite old and probably not working for Lollipop.

Try this to change your csc code:
1. type in the dialer *#06#, copy ur IMEI
2. type in the dialer *#272*IMEI HERE and add a #
IT WILL WIPE YOUR DATA

Thanks but that doesn't work. I get Unknown Application. I think that doesn't work on the S6. I also tried using Phone Info to change the CSC but that also doesn't seem to be compatible with the S6 even though it shows my firmware is multi-CSC.

Sorry but what do you mean do not let to install csc files? I did stop Odin auto-rebooting and went to recovery but that didn't seem to help. How do I stop it installing the wrong CSC files?
If I was willing to lose warranty now, would installing TWRP and maybe a custom ROM make it easier to change the CSC?
Thanks.

I am stuck in BNG csc code and i cant change it because i need to Trip KNOX, but i changed my csc code From ING to BNG.
- When odin finish flashing if Auto-Reboot option is ticked, your samsung will reboot and it shows a Android robot instaling something and later says Erasing... you cant let this happen, untick auto reboot and you need to reboot your galaxy in recovery mode and it will show CSC Check Failed and you have to wipe data and shutdown your device and enter in download mode and reflash the firmware. It worked for me.
if you trip knox and you install twrp it will be easier because you can install a custom rom and change your csc code rooted.

but maybe the region that has most user!
:good:
Over at SamMobile Greenman once said that Trinidad and Tobago always is among the first, if not the first. Can't be the region with the most users if my demographic instinct isn't totally off track!

Hi
No that is not a problem , the only issue you may be concern is your phone CSC ( country code) is not a big deal but some carrier specific options may be not available if you have a different CSC than you carrier

Just see to it that you use the CSC file and NOT the Home_CSC when you are switching CSC. Fill in the BL, AP, CP and the CSC files in the right fields and have the following boxes ticked: Auto-Reboot, Re-Partition, F. Reset Time.
After the flash, power off, reboot and enter Recovery. Select and execute Wipe cache partition and then Wipe Data/Factory Reset. Reboot and then you will receive OTA updates from the new region you flashed when they are released. You should be aware of the fact that your Samsung warranty is void after switching CSC should they notice it. This probably is not likely, but still, be aware of it. Flashing original Samsung firmware do not trigger Knox.
All your data will be lost so back up important stuff.

Thanks for the replies, by CSC do you mean Israel's CSC or the other country's CSC? I'm flashing the newest build from the UK with the November 1 security patch which was build in November, but the Israeli build was built in August and has the August security patch. Could that cause a problem?
Say I filled the UK BL, AP and CP with ISRAEL's CSC (not HOME_CSC), what are the chances for a HARD brick?
Thanks again
EDIT:
If it matters, these are the links for the builds I'm hoping to use:

You MUST use the csc that comes with the firmware package. The csc file contains info on the layout for how the firmware files are going to be organized. You should not mix files from different packages. It is only when you are flashing a newer version of the same region firmware that you can use the Home_CSC file. The Home_CSC file do not contain the instructions for how Odin shall re-partition the system as this is not needed in that case. This is why config and data is not wiped and the phone is not factory reset when using the Home_CSC.
The CSC file must be used when you switch region since the layout in memory is different for different regions.
So you see you will always lose configuration and data and have to do a factory reset upon CSC switching. No way around this I'm afraid!
On the risks of hard brick when mixing files I have no clue. If you are adventurous you could try, otherwise do not try!

The UK firmware you link here is a carrier specific Hutchison 3G firmware and should not be used unless this is your operator. I would suspect that mixing the files is risky.
It seems that there are two versions of Trinidad and Tobago's firmware that you've mentioned in your earlier post, specifically TTT and EON
Are both compatible? Is there another, unbranded firmware that I can get with the November 1 security patch? I'm gonna be using the phone in Israel and my current baseband ends with BPH1

I didn't mean that you should flash the Trinidad and Tobago firmware, I just commented on the post saying that the firmware that has the most users was updated first. I think that you should use the firmware that best suits your operator. And if you decide to switch, do not mix files, use all files in the package you flash, and do not use Home_CSC.

It worked, but the H3G ROM is heavily bloated
Is there a way to restore the original Samsung boot animation? Also, how do I make it mount the system read/write?

What you want is not possible without root access. You need to go to other parts of this forum to do research on how to root your phone and install custom roms.

Already rooted of course, however even with su enabled I can't write to /system
I also tried to switch the boot animation with substratom and it didn't work, are there other apps/ways that are known to work? I just want the stock Samsung logo back (or anything that doesn't have a site address on it lol). I'm not eager to give root access to everything that claims to be able to change your boot anim, and Google brought up nothing
EDIT:
I've managed to get rid of the H3G boot and shutdown animations by going to /system/media/ and removing *.qmg, then going to /system/media/video/shutdown/ and removing shutdown.qmg
Do this at your own risk, it won't restore the original Marshmallow animation but it will PROBABLY make your device stay on the "powered by Android" logo instead of going to the carrier boot animation

Manual Nougat Update for SM-G930F Germany

Hello.
Is it possible to use Nougat UK firmware G930FXXU1DPLT for my unlocked german phone. It currently has G930FXXU1BPLB. The phone CSC is DBT with CSC country of Germany/DE. Country of Origin: made in Vietnam.
I did search but can't confirm from what I've read so far.
Thank you.
Yes you can just did it some hours ago and it's working like a charm
Ok, I flashed nougat and all went well.
I used the lasted firmware from here: http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?record=38264056ECF011E69215FA163EE8F90B
Country/Region: United Kingdom
PDAG930FXXU1DQB3
CSCG930FOXA1DQB1
PhoneG930FXXU1DQB1
However, my csc is still DBT instead of BTU. I checked "re-partition" per instructions here: https://www.sammobile.com/forum/showthread.php?t=30800
How do I get BTU to stick? I even tried going into recovery and wiping and factory resetting. It didn't work.
Why do you ant BTU?
The BTU is a Multi-CSC which also beside others include the DBT-CSC.
I think soon we will have the offical Nougat DBT then you might need to flash again with Odin, if you want to have OTA-Updates.
Also you do not have to enable "Re-Partition". Just flash with the normal CSC (not the HOME_CSC if you want to change your CSC) but keep in mind that with flashing the normal CSC all data on the internal ROM is lost.

I wanted BTU because I've read on several posts that I won't receive OTA updates if CSC is crossed with BTU and DBT. I also wanted samsung apps to stop defaulting to Deutschland since I can't read it.

I have a DBT S7 and I flashed the BTU version as well. Just select Home CSC and it will keep all your data saved. If you select CSC_ it will erase the phone. Also the apps are in German based on location. You will need a VPN to use some apps in English
Question:
Firmware for Germany has now been released. Should I now download the Germany firmware and replace my BTU (UK) firmware? Or since only the CSC file seem to be different, should I Odin just the CSC file?

Serious connection problems with SM-G920f

Hi everybody, I do not know if there is some discussion open yet but I can not speak and write so much in English.
I come to the problem already written on the SAMSUNG ASSISTENZA forums without solving anything, the only solution to bring it into service.
Ok I have a Samsung S6 SM-G920F which now works only with 2g network, with 3g and 4g network does not work, has field but does not surf.
These tests have been carried out:
Tested SIM sim card on another phone works.
Try other cards on my phone do not work.
Done Update ITV has solved nothing.
Tried other roms I now have French Android firmware 7.0 (I've read that many have solved) flashing and hard reset all the same problem.
I have no root.
Other evidence, removed the board inserted another card nothing.
Changed APN manually.
Restore Factory Settings.
Restore network settings.
The problem has never been resolved.
Here you are a lot better in the world, maybe you know how to do it and thank you.
Sorry for my English but I used Google Translate
Did you tried to flash only modem...?

Ok ok, understand, perfect.
I noticed unpacking the firmware ITV Italia no brands that until December had a modem, modem.bin then in the next releases the modem has always been updated, since December I got the problems.
As you said you might be the file modem.bin thread that does not work well.
I tried with Odin 3.12.3 to mount the only modem.bin file in CP .... just do not install me Odin is stuck before downloading it on the phone.
Do you know how to do it and why do not you install me?
I'll try to do this and then if it's okay I'll go to the Firmware BTU or DBT .... I think the modem is the problem too because the rest of the phone works and goes only in 2G/Edge
Thanks !!!!!!!!!!!!
Ciao vforvlive
Then I tried how you said to wipe ... install the DBT 6.0.1 firmware of the latest in germany and then wipe again nothing works .... only working with 2g network.
I just noticed that H + just keeps the uploaded arrow down there is virtually no data exchange.
I also tried to put the modem.bin file when my phone worked with odin not installing me.
It's absurd I changed 20 firmware nothing ever does the same thing.
It is not even the antenna or some other thing because in 2g it normally works it obviously travels like a snail.

Then I tried how you said to wipe ... install the DBT 6.0.1 firmware of the latest in germany and then wipe again nothing works .... only working with 2g network.
I just noticed that H + just keeps the uploaded arrow down there is virtually no data exchange.

Question How to change phone region?

How can i change my phone region in a way to fool Samsung keyboard?
I need thst to make Keys Cafe app to work properly in the chinese rom. Must change grom CHC to anywhere else.
I tried flashing a Home_CSC from another region, but the phone gets locked as soon as it boots.
I did flashed CSC from another region with no problems. try to follow the instructions here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...fficial-firmware-noob-friendly.4404283/unread
Tgy, Bri and CHC are your only options.

Do you mean this part?
Optional: If you just want to change CSC, /efi/imei/mps_code.dat is where you can edit after rooting the phone
Replace the CSC you would like to be in the file

So, changing mps_code.dat from another firmware would change the region entirely?
I tried messing with optics/configs/carriers/CHC/conf/customer.xml to change region, but phone got locked, just as it was when flashing the entire Taiwan CSC.
The main reasons I want that is to remove chinese stuff from samsung system apps (keyboard, browser). have you tested this? Would chaning China for Hong Kong or Taiwan solve the problem?
Also, it's possible to make keys cafe work by changing country_code and sales_code and disabling/enabling samsung keyboard.
I just downloaded different region firmware and installed it with odin without any problem.

Yes, this works if you want to change the entire firmware. But did you flash only the CSC to keep rom and change region? When I tried, phone got locked.
I think i wasn't clear in OP. I wanted to change CSC onçy, keeping rom.

This link says that the "make your own keyboard" doesn't work.
It worked by changing country_code and sales_code to USA and XAA
