Here's a fix by ralphwiggum1:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=70851933&postcount=39
If that fix fails, then flashing stock recovery is another option. Then you'll have to reroot and get twrp again. If your on 20g, you'll have to kdz 20f and start over.

It went back to stock recovery after flashing the zip. adb reboot recovery takes me to stock recovery.
Vol Down + Power to boot, and letting go of Power holding down Vol Down, then pressing Power & Vol Up takes me to the "hard reset" prompt, and it actually wipes device when selecting yes. I'm thinking the recovery has changed in 20G and it wipes the device instead of taking you to recovery.
Joey's Root Checker shows "Sorry! Root access is not properly installed on this device". SuperSU shows "There's no SU binary installed and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem."
I have a feeling I'll have to downgrade to 20F using KDZ.
EDIT: Weird...FlashFire shows "Root was found, but access could not be acquired! Supported roots: SuperSU, Magisk, CM SU (SELinux/Permissive)) Found root: (null)".
Installed SuperSU app, no luck. Tried Superuser app, no luck.

Yea I've had this happen multiple times now. Twrp is somewhat buggy where if theres a crash during flashing, or if you format the system partition, somehow theres a failsafe feature that restores the stock recovery.
I thought I had it figured out and made a flashable zip for twrp that also flashes it to the recoverybak partition. But it happened aga7n.

There's another update on my tablet...(after flashing your zip from 2-22). Will you be doing another zip with this new update?

New update is 95.22MB. I'm guessing security update. I would be wary, as the 20g update patches dirty cow, but still allows downgrade to 20f. This could block downgrade. Any brave souls out there want to confirm?

I know I'm late, but I just picked one of these tablets up this week. I didn't think much about what I was doing, and did all OTA updates that where available. This was on 10/25/2017 or so. I was able to then use Uppercut and LGUP to flash backwards to V52120i_00_0619.kdz and successfully root, and install TWRP.
I didn't keep stock long, I jumped over to Lineage OS 14.1.
Be warned though, on Lineage OS the weekly on 10/27/2017 will cause a bootloop in TWRP. At least it did for me. After install, and while stuck in bootloop it is pretty easy to fix:
1. Open ADB Shell and run the following 2 commands:
Code:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/fota
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/misc
Then reboot and all will be well.

I've been running stock for a while and had this in a drawer for a year. I decided I'd start using it in my kitchen to pull up recipes on chrome. I decided to do a "factory reset" to start "clean" forgetting the warning not to do it. Now I'm stuck in a TWRP bootloop.
How can I get out of this?
Or should I switch to lineage?

Why there is no LG-V521-20N version?

6.0.1 ota with stock rooted 6.0

My v10 downloaded an OTA , which im assuming is 6.0
1. Im rooted on stock 6.0 and unlocked boot loader. Will the OTA work without messing up anything ? Ill have to root again im sure, just want some info before i pull the trigger.
I don't think the update will even proceed being that you're on a rooted ROM. I have that notification too, and i just don't know how to turn it off.
I to am rooted, unlockboot and stock rom. I don't feel like taking a chance. So I used titanium backup to freeze the software update and in the drop down notification if you press it, it's a notification from Google play services if you block it in apps it will disappear from your drop down. I also deleted the update zip in the cache folder.I used es file explorer ,device/cache/update

Okay, I'm assuming you are on H90120e (system version). There is a root exploit for the H90120j update. You just do the following:
Make a backup of your apps and settings
Flash your phone to the new update (H90120j)?
Take a look at either one of these threads to root your device again:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-v10/general/step-step-guide-rooting-lg-v10-using-t3382631
OR
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-v10/general/root-android-6-0-h901-t3382819
You can't flash the phone that is already rooted and has TWRP.
I am in this same situation. On stock rom with root and twrp. I want to update to the new update, but do not want to loose all my apps, settings, etc.
Question is, how to do the initial update before having to re-root again?
How do we flash the phone with the new update?

Why can't you flash the phone that is already rooted and has TWRP?
All you are doing is opening the LGUP tool and flashing the new H90120j .kdz file using the "refurbish" option then flashing the H90120j .tot file that has TWRP using the "update" option which will flash the phone regardless of what is running on your phone. The guides on the first link explain that. I believe your concern is keeping all of your settings and apps. Look up Titanium backup, it works for me.
Thank you. I only flash the LGH901AT-01-V20j-310-260-JUL-12-2016-ARB02+0ROOTTWRP tot file and all is good.
Well except that I lost Dolby audio.
I will look for a fix.

There's a guide in general that tells how to do all this. In fact jun19inf WROTE it.
In a nutshell, do a twrp backup.
Upgrade to 20j by flashing the stock 20j kbz.
Enable usb debugging and oem unlock
flash tot that has twrp in it.
Now you can go into twrp and 1) root via supersu 2) restore ONLY data from your twrp backup taken previously to get your apps etc back. Alternatively Titanium Backup will also do just fine.

If all is you have is root, you should be able to unroot in the SuperSU settings, and then let the update install. But if you have TWRP, then I can't see any way to do the update without using a PC to flash your phone back to stock ROM and recovery. Although you may check the dev. section to see if Eliminator has a flashable ROM to bring you up to date.

Hi all. I just got my factory warranty back and I attempted to root it. Everything went as it should, until just after the install finished. Instead of rebooting normally, it now will only reboot into TWRP. Once there, when I try to flash a custom ROM (in this case, Bliss, but I don't think it matters, I get an error message that says the zip file is corrupt. Then, while still in recovery, when I tried to wipe everything except the sd card, it says mkfs.fat process ended with error. I then powered down and attempted the factory reset. I scrolled down on both screens and it did not say anything about any errors, so I assumed it took. However, it reboots right back into TWRP recovery. It also boots right to TWRP recovery when I try to boot normally. Of course, adb does not recognize the phone in any mode that I can get into (fastboot/recovery/download), so, I can't use LG Bridge to reflash the original firmware. Does anybody have any ideas for a fix? I know that this replacement phone had 6.0 on it. I thought I did everything to a t? TIA...
OK, not sure how I got there, but when I attempt to reboot from TWRP it says No OS Installed! Are you sure you want to reboot? That at least says what the problem is. Does anybody know how to fix this?
Where can I download the update file?

How to root V10 T-mobile M.M ver V20L
Can some one guide me on the following:
1. Can I flash back and downgrade to Software version V20J from V20L.
2. Is there any root method for V10 t-mobile MM ver V20L.
1. It is well explained in this forum, you CANNOT go back without facing a software brick.
2. You can root your phone through Dirty_Cow method or by flash Eliminater74 ROM (Part1 & Part2).
Again, search for that in this section and in development one...

Hi
I have flashed stock and no problem but I can't root it. I have flashed the latest SuperSU and many others zips and wiped cache and dalvik cache, but when I reboot it stucks in bootlogo. I have the latest TWRP recovery and I use stock MM 6.0.1 ROM.
What can I do?

Read some posts on rooting... You can't root a Marshmallow device like you used too, systemless root is required...
Open TWRP, go to Advanced - Terminal and enter:
echo SYSTEMLESS=true>>/data/.supersu
And flash SuperSU again, you should see a message about systemless install, then clear caches (takes forever) and rebooted and give it a while.

Not true... You can flash this beta version without doing anything special, but any SuperSU v2.63 or above, including the current version, works perfectly if you create the /data/.supersu file containing "SYSTEMLESS=true" flag as noted in my previous post. It is not difficult and any newer version cleans up a "bad" regular system flash as well.

Registered for this forum specifically to thank you for this.
Lots of instructions found when googling for rooting the Moto G 3rd gen, some good, some not so good. Every one of them resulted in getting stuck at the Motorola bootloader unlocked warning page. Re-flashed back to stock firmware and had almost given up until I saw this post. Solved the problem.
Thanks!

No OS installed in TWRP

Hi guys
I was trying some of custom rom on my OP6 and I wanted to go back to Oxygen OS. So i did a clean installation with system wipe and i flashed the last full OTA update. But since i can't boot to system anymore, TWRP always displays that there is no OS installed despite the fact that I've tried several rom . Is this the first time it's done this to me how can I fix it?

The best suggestion I can give you is to flash stock oos with TWRP, reboot to stock recovery, without flashing anything else, wipe data from stock recovery and startup system.. if it is working you can flash back TWRP and magisk if you need it
Just be careful because at your point is easy to lose all of your stored data

If you wipe system, then flash oos ROM, TWRP will think there is no os. You can just ignore and boot.
Wiping system then flashing any time will make twrp display "no os installed" it does this because it hasn't created files for twrp to check if you have a ton installed. Flashing twrp then rebooting to twrp fixes it.
Reboot to stock recovery?

Hi, need a little bit of support, since I'm new to this as well. I was in a working OOS open beta 25/28, but then I think I flashed the wrong zip (OOS 9.0.9?), and I was not able to boot to system. It kept going to "bootloader unlocked" screen and custom recovery. Currently in TWRP blu_spark 3.3.1-x v. 9.109, and it's showing me no OS installed when I attempt to reboot. I haven't rebooted to system yet.
All the folders in my /sdcard is gibberish... if I try to push a file to it, it says "Required key not available." I did remove all security/passwords from my phone before doing any updates/backups.
I completed a wipe cache/dalvik/system via TWRP, and flashed the OOS OTA stable Android 10 zip downloaded directly from OnePlus Support. Considering this situation, do you still think it's safe for me to reboot to system? Then how do I get to stock recovery from there--is that by holding down the buttons?

No, your internal storage Is like trash cause the last rom you flashed has older security patch than oos10. Your device Is now encrypted and wont boot to system. I Guess you have to erase all via MSN tool or fastboot signed rom. Even if you wiped what mentioned above, your problem still be the data.
Fastboot method?

Thank you for replying. I'm relieved that you know of a couple methods to try.
Is using "Format Data" in TWRP an option for dealing with the encryption??
For the MSN tool, can I use this one? Tried looking around, but it's unclear. "[TOOL] MsmDownloadTool V4.0 International (Oxygen OS 5.1.5)" https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...wnloadtool-v4-0-international-t3798892/page10
I would be more comfortable with using fastboot, but am I at any risk of having lost fastboot, or can I just turn off my device from TWRP right now and hold down the buttons to get there? Afraid to move out of TWRP right now, in case I can't get back. I do have twrp-3.3.1-18-enchilada-Q-mauronofrio.img that I can run from fastboot if needed.
By "signed rom," do you mean I can simply flash one of the zips here from fastboot? "[OnePlus 6][ROM][OTA][Oxygen OS] Mirrors for official Oxygen OS ROMs and OTA updates" https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/oneplus-6-mirrors-official-oxygen-os-t3792244

I hardbricked my device about 10 times and i was able to recovery It even from a blank screen. Btw format data Will erase all your data but also the internal storage. About fastboot dont be afraid, go under twrp reboot section and reboot to bootloader. Then go under xda op6 guide section and search for mirrors for fastboot rom guide by Mauronofrio. He pushed my ass out the **** a lot of time.
P.s. Sorry but I dunno how to paste a link via xda app. Yes, ik! It's a vert newbie thing.

That's awesome, I'm starting to grasp how much of a genius Mauronofrio is, after so many people referencing his work.
In his guide, he says, "These ROMs can't be used to update or downgrade your phone but just to restore your phone, so don't use them to come back to oreo or to update from oreo to pie." This may be a dumb question, but how do I know which zip/OOS version to flash, when I don't have a functioning OS on my phone?

I talked with Mauronofrio in pm and he said me that you could solve your issue simply flash the ROM you want and format data after flash that one. Remember that your internal will be wiped but it would happen in any scenario we talked.
Magisk, boot img?

That worked! And starstruck that you were able to check that with him. I flashed Mauronofrio's fastboot ROM for 10.3.2 and it rebooted (WOW). I clicked through the Google setup pages and checked that my data and wifi worked.
I then went back into fastboot, booted M's twrp img, fomatted data, and then installed twrp-3.3.1-x_blu_spark_v9.109_op6.zip, rebooted into recovery.
Then I think I made a mistake, because I installed Magisk-v20.4.zip. It succeeded, but now I can't boot into system anymore. Is it too late to flash the 10.3.2 boot.img?

I ended up following the guide to Magisk Root without TWRP for OnePlus 6 Oxygen OS https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/patched-boot-image-magisk-16-7-beta-t3818853 since it was referenced by Mauronofrio's post for having issues getting his TWRP to work with latest Magisk.
Someone posted a patched boot.img for 10.3.2, so now I'm rooted without TWRP. Priorities. Now all I need is for special characters and emojis to work Will keep an eye on other threads.
I'm learning a lot, thanks so much for all your help. You pointed me in the right direction when I was not sure what the hell to do!

Unable to boot recovery after Android 10 Open Beta 1 OTA

Hi everyone!
Issue is pretty simple to explain - after upgrading via OTA from the latest open beta Pie (29) to open beta Android 10 (30), I can't boot into recovery.
System works normally, the only thing I'm having trouble with are the generic issues discussed on the OP community forum (autorotate and other sensors, Gboard gap...). It is recommended repeatedly that one should reboot to recovery and wipe the cache partition.
The problem is that I can only get into fastboot mode - tried the advanced boot menu, adb/fastboot and selecting recovery mode while in the fastboot mode but it always goes into fastboot.
TWRP doesn't support android 10 yet as far as I know and I've found no other reference of this issue anywhere else. Only thing that comes to mind is to wait for the next open beta and hope it will be resolved after another OTA.
Thanks for your help!
seems the open beta install was more bad for you than mine. Upgraded from op29 to op30 like you, but i had everything stock. No unlocked bootloader, no big customizations, etc. I just tried entering recovery mode via fastboot and it worked like normal for me, had to enter my pin to decrypt my data, and the rest like normal. I'd suggest to downgrade back to pie and reflash the open beta software to see if the issue is gone or not, but that's your call to do so.

I think you stumbled across the answer everyone has been searching for. How did you upgrade? Did you download the whole zip and flash through updated?
This kinda makes sense. Do you remember how big the update file was? It could have been an incremental rather than a full if you weren't unlocked and thus (maybe) didn't change fastboot.

i grabbed the update file from this news article from xda itself: https://www.xda-developers.com/oneplus-android-10-oxygenos-beta-oneplus-6-6t/
the update zip was the full update and not incremental. i updated my device using the local device upgrader found under the system update settings to do the job for me.
Edit: this part down was meant for OP, sorry for confusion
so far when i updated last night, the auto rotate was tripping, until you mentioned that wiping the cache should do the trick (and it did do the trick thanks for that).
But back to your problem, you should try flashing the file under the link i put into this reply and if it doesn't work, just back up your data, downgrade back to pie, and flash the full update file that is present within that article and you should be back to normal

Thanks for the idea. Unfortunately, it seems that having root and having recovery isn't possible for me at this point.
I've installed the OTA, got the recovery back and managed to wipe cache and everything worked - except I didn't have root. Then I've installed the magisk boot image to get back root, but then the same issues started happening and I was unable to access recovery.
Now I have to decide what's more important :crying:
Use an older version of magisk and you won't lose twrp

As stated above - just downloaded the OTA Android 10 update file for the right device, installed it and didn't install magisk to inactive slot and I had it back. If I tried to install magisk to keep root I didn't have the recovery mode. My guest guess is that magisk still isn't fully compatible with the new Android 10 boot changes.

To me having a stable phone is much more important than a heavily modified device that's unstable at any given time. I'd say use the msm tool, flash back to a fresh build of pie, download the full open beta 30 zip, after its done flashing, reboot twice to iron out any present issues, then unlock the bootloader, and then you should be good to go. If you want root, just fastboot boot into twrp and flash the latest magisk zip and you're good to go. At the end you should have root, an unlocked bootloader, all while on the open beta android 10 build, with access to the stock recovery

Most current TWRP/Magisk for Unlocked OnePlus 7 Pro OOS 10.3.1.GM21AA (GM1917)

Hey, guys. So I've been messing with my phone all day after a soft brick after having BlissROM since Feb. Long story short, something with the ROM update and it messed with my phone. I wiped EVERYTHING thinking it would solve the problem. I was able to use the All-In-One tool to save my phone through the bootloader (Thank goodness!). I finally got it to boot up to stock this morning. I've been trying all morning to gain root, but once I do, I lose WiFi and Network connections. So my question is:
What is the most current version of TWRP and Magisk that will allow me to be on stock and have root without any problems?
This is my setup.
OnePlus 7 Pro
Android version: Android 10
Build: Oxygen OS 10.0.3.GM21AA (now updated to 10.3.1)
Model: GM1917
Unlocked OEM
Unlocked Bootloader
This is the method I am using to push TWRP though the bootloader.
https://androidmtk.com/download-minimal-adb-and-fastboot-tool
These are the files that flash through adb/fastboot and lose Wifi and Network connectivity.
TWRP 3.3.1-79-guacamole-unified-Q: https://sourceforge.net/projects/ma...-guacamole-unified-Q-mauronofrio.img/download
Magisk v20.4: https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases/download/v20.4/Magisk-v20.4.zip
Since I don't have any connectivity at this point, I attempt to flash BlissROM with the following steps.
BlissROM version that last worked for me: https://downloads.blissroms.com/BlissRoms/Q/guacamole/Bliss-v12.6-guacamole-OFFICIAL-20200425.zip
STEPS
Boot into recovery
Backup your current ROM
Perform a factory reset
Flash Bliss Rom
Reboot recovery
Flash OpenGapps--NANO PACKAGE!!
*Flash magisk* optional
Reboot to system
Also, as I've previously stated, I have attempted to flash BlissROM through TWRP and with root (without WiFi and Data), but it hangs on the boot screen. When I go to TWRP and try to reflash the ROM, it gives me the error "cannot mount storage". I follow the instructions as stated in the original post, so I figured it has to be something with the TWRP or Magisk versions not being compatible. Since that does not work, I have since flashed stock and am currently on that without problems. Any links to the most current TWRP/Magisk/rooting methods are greatly appreciated. And if someone could help with getting BlissROM back on my phone afterwards, that would be great. Thanks!
Pretty sure you need to update to 10.3.2 to get it working right.

I just realized I could update past the first update. I figured it would update to the most recent version version after the flash back to stock, not that it would be incremental. Thank you so much for the heads up!
I have the most recent version of Magisk downloaded. What is the best for 10.3.2?

Got it. Does the same goes for TWRP? I read somewhere that the unofficial one might work better with Android Q (I'm assuming that's Android 10?)

Got it. Okay, so it looks like I'll be giving BlissROM one last shot!
Before I flash TWRP and Magisk, I looked on the Oneplus website for the 10.3.2 update and it looks like the most current posted is 10.3.1. Should I update to 10.3.2 for the latest ROMS, or will 10.3.1 work fine? If so, where can I find it?
I used the oxygen updater app to download the update and sideloaded it.

So it looks like that didn't work. I got stuck on a bootloop again and had to revert back to stock.
I can't seem to find what the problem is. Here is what I am flashing:
TWRP 3.3.1-79-guacamole-unified-Q: https://sourceforge.net/projects/mau...o.img/download
Magisk v20.4: https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/...gisk-v20.4.zip
This is the method I am using flash TWRP to the bootloader.
https://androidmtk.com/download-minimal-adb-and-fastboot-tool
When I flash both of those, I lose Wifi and Network on my stock ROM. I'm assuming one of them is also the reason why I can't flash BlissROM.
You don't need to flash magisk before you flash the ROM, just twrp. I do know when I bootlooped, it was because I missed a step, usually because I didnt wipe data.
Follow the flash instructions step by step or you will for sure bootloop. Read them over and over until you think you have a grasp of how to flash the ROM.
You can always get back into fastboot by holding power and both volume keys...then you can reflash twrp and start over. No need to go back to stock unless you want to or need to.
Just make sure you follow the instructions step by step. This device is a bit different to flash from the devices I have used before ...so it took me a few tries to get it done right.

I've been following the steps exactly as written. Take a look at step 5 on the TWRP thread. (https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...covery-unofficial-twrp-recovery-t3931322/amp/)
Install guide (Reccomended):
1. Install fastboot tools from google's sdk on your PC
2. Enter fastboot mode
3. Unlock your bootloader
4. Run "fastboot boot recoveryimgfilename.img" in command line (if you want to have it permanently you should flash the installer)
5. If you will flash the installer and you are stock you need also to flash magisk or your phone will not boot again
6. Enjoy it

Furthermore, this is also reiterated in the BlissROM thread. https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7-pro/development/rom-blissroms-v11-9-t3957341/page138
Make sure you are rooted
Make sure you have a custom recovery installed
For Q-BETA- Make sure you are on Q firmware, is currently set to use OOS 10.3.0 Stable firmware- CLEAN INSTALL!!

I also noted that in that previous quote, having the original 10.0.3 I had installed shouldn't have cause any problems. I wiped data (factory reset) every time I flashed BlissROM, as it is the third step in the process.
The reason why I go back to stock using the all-in-one tool is because I don't have anything else to flash. The whole reason I even had a soft brick was because I tried to go back to stock after my BlissROM update and flashed a OTA from the oneplus site. I probably did that incorrectly, however. Idk how what sideload is or how it functions. So that all-in-one tool is my only safety net.
