So I've got my phone into a useless bootloop.
I unlocked and rooted without much issue except that I lost Google Play Services somehow during the process. I tried a factory wipe from TWRP to see if that made a difference but I think that wiped system.
I've tried the dload method with updates but nothing has worked so far - they all fail at 5%, one got to 33% and failed.
I've tried flashing custom roms, but I don't think there's a system to flash them to.
I've tried the erecovery, obviously that does nothing.
I've tried extracting the update.app and flashing boot, system and recovery, boot flashes but system doesn't, no matter what update I use. I don't want to lose TWRP because at the moment that's too valuable to me.
I need help. I'm out of ideas. I don't have a clue what to try next. I can't use FunkyHuawei.
Edit: I should have mentioned, my model is MHA-L09

how did you get back to stock recovery? I'm on the same boat; can't do anything.. Mine is L29C185B138 if that makes a difference..
I tok a canse and downloaded a stock rom for the mate 8 and used Huawei update extractor tool to get the recovery file.
Used adb to push the file to the phone and it worked fine.
It was a gamble but I was completely stuck to and didn't now what else to try.

I did factory reset in TWRP, but modifications to /system were enabled so my guess is I wiped /system.
I did format data afterwards, with/system modification off.
I tried extracting /system from update.app with the Huawei Extractor program but fastboot won't load system.img for whatever reason.

I can boot into recovery, eRecovery or a bootloop that ends in eRecovery, which doesn't work. I can't boot into Android.

Ah, Factory reset. Yeah that apparently you shouldn't do. I don't know why as it's only supposed to wipe data and cache, but it seems to wipe more stuff as well.
What's your full model and build? MHA-L09CxxByy
Also:https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=70781892&postcount=4
I guess you could try the SHIELD ROM under custom roms, that should at least get you back into your phone.
If not your only option is Funky or wait til we get more offline dload roms. Or rebrand and install one of the 2 existing offline dloads.

If you did a backup in twrp you could try flashing that to boot up the phone, you may also need to flash the public and hw-data zips for your firmware version as well, then you could update in phone settings and factory reset in stock recovery to get everything working.
You could also try to use the dload method with the C636 offline firmware to get your phone to boot up. Then use firmware finder to install L09C432B126 for your phone. Then factory reset in stock recovery. Then use the update in phone settings to update to the latest B138 and then B156 for L09C432. This is what I had to do once when in a boot loop. Then you can unlock bootloader, flash twrp, format data, flash decrypted L09C432B156 boot.img, flash superuser, and flash public and hw-data zips for L09C432B156 to get everything working

If you're interesting...
Data partition has three things which must not be cleared.
/data/cust - symlink to /cust/hw/your_customization
/data/custom.bin - text config with your_customization
/data/product.bin - text config with model name
When you doing factory reset in TWRP, it is deleting all above. But without this info, phone will not boot up.

whats your phone model L04 - L02 - L??
what was the last software version you had working
You need to download a full update package for your device from Huawei's website, unpack UPDATE.APP into a folder on an external SD card named /dload/ ("/dload/UPDATE.APP"). Get a stock recovery image for your model and firmware, plug into computer after setting up ADB and fastboot, "fastboot reboot bootloader". In bootloader with RECOVERY.IMG in the same folder as ADB and fastboot, "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img". Power off phone, hold down vol up + vol down + power until you see the phone update dialog, then release, and all will go back to normal.

Now, I could go back to Marshmallow B130. But, no way forward to upgrade to Nougat. Downloading any version (B140, B150, B161) from Firmware finder results in same problem. (No Keyboard, No Factory Reset, testkeys build)
Now I have downloaded 2 FOTA zip file from hicloud
1. UPDATE.ZIP
2. update_data_full_FRD-L02_channel_in
Now, how should I proceed?
Something messed up with my installation so the apps of my "update_full_hw_spcseas.zip" are missing. Seems like there was nothing relevant inside but the SmartKey feature (and maybe the AutoShazam symbol). SmartKey is just missing in the settings.
Is there a way to flash the apk without factory resetting my phone? Found it inside the zip but my naive try to flash it with a TWRP-Template from the internet didn't work (data could not be mounted)...

Tried this erecovery flash several times in the last day but it doesn't seem to work wih my phone. Also don't get the official OTA Updates because my phone is from a different country (used Firmware Finder)...

Already tried this yesterday, as well as together with the public one. Phone was bootable in both cases but buggy as ****. TWRP finished flashing them but said something like /data could not be mounted. As far as I know this is because the encryption of /data or something like that.

From the looks of it, dload is your only choice left.
I've tried to OTA update B389, but the update installer reboots in twrp and does nothing.
Does anyone knows how to update to B389 with twrp installed?

This is a newbie question!:cyclops:
The only way to update Honor 8 to B389 is returning in stock?
There is the possibility that later on will come a B389 version that can be flashed with TWRP without returning in stock?
It's just a matter of time, maybe

OldDroid said you need to fully reflash EMUI 5.
it's a pretty long story but currently my system partition is wiped after it soft bricked, i also couldn't reflash stock roms with twrp so i tried to extract the recovery.img from the stock rom and flashing it over twrp to get the original recovery mode back to flash the update but for some reason it didn't work.
so now i can only boot into EMUI which keeps telling 'getting package info failed' meaning i can't update through it. i'm also able to reach the 'fastboot&rescue mode' screen but i know nothing about adb and even tho i watched 2-3 tutorial videos i couldn't really get it to work. all videos wanted me to boot up the phone and enable usb debugging which i can't. my phone was rooted before and i'm positive i've enabled it in the past but i'm not sure if it's still enabled or not, either way i'm not able to get it working.
is this salvageable?
i'd really appreciate some help if possible, thnx
nope. but even when i had twrp it wouldnt let me flash update.zip's
i still have fastboot screen so my guess is that i have to run it through adb, which i don't know how to do

but how do i flash marshmallow with twrp? and what marshmallow file are you talking about, the one i mentioned above?
because i tried flashing these update.zip's with twrp before but it wouldn't let me.
i'm currently packaging the update.app files into a zip and moving it to the sdcard, that's the only way i can think of to flash these update files with twrp.

yes. can't remember how to double check but way back when i downloaded these update files i was extremely careful to download the correct files.

yea now it told me corrupt zip, last time i tried i got some other error, think it was some error about writing to system partition.

first time booting up i get the contact names on call logs for a few seconds and then they disappear because the contacts are gone. if i restore my data partition in twrp and boot up the system again i get the exact same thing. i'm guessing the contacts are saved at least temporarily somewhere on the data partition, is it possible to extract them somehow? i don't care if i have to write them down one by one from a .log, i got some important numbers that are worth the hassle for me

If you synced the contacts already then you can from google contacts.
I know this is completely backwards, but i found a twrp backup i did on my broken systems partition before i tried anything else. Maybe if i can undo what soft-bricked my phone i can get them back.
I installed/flashed a magisk module for xposed and after that i wasnt able to boot the system any longer. Is it possible to somehow uninstall this module and get the phone to boot again? Or is the only solution to flash a new stock rom?
Edit: havent synced with google in a while

I have been trying it for quite some time, some system.imgs cannot load as greeted by ADB, as for the native system.img, it flashes gracefully, I reboot to recovery, wipe cache partition, do a factory reset, and reboot only to find my device suffering a boot loop. This procedure worked out for my friend, @oreopie , but for some odd reason won't just work for me. I end up in a boot loop every time I flash the same system.img he flashed. We were in the same boat, on lineage, and this should've worked for me.
I tried flashing other system.img files from other relative zips, but ADB returns the error: CANNOT LOAD SYSTEM. I have tried my best to solve this and allow adb to load in chunks but no commands work whatsoever. Can someone please tell me what is it that I am doing wrong enough to be embraced by a bootloop?

UPDATE: I COULD GET BACK TO STOCK BUT AN OLD VERSION 140, I NEED TO GET 150, ANY HELP ON THAT?
You can use dload method on top of 140 to get to a recent 151 version.
