I'm surprised that there haven't been any AOSP roms yet. Sense uses up a lot of ram and memory, AOSP roms would definitely make this phone beastlier.
Besides noxtel and teamsilence, do we even have any other developers? Pretty sad because this is such a good device.

I agree with you dude this phone is a beast and with some stock roms and quality kernals this phone could be the best one on the market (as of this moment) just give it some time.

Some people take the internet way too seriously. Lighten up. A simple Google search would have told you what it meant. Just because someone tried to give you a nudge for self help is no reason to call names and act like a digital douchebag.

All good. Now, that I see that you're from twin cities... how's your data connection? Mine drops off every few minutes, tower hand-off issue? Only drops for a second or two but makes streaming music VERY annoying.
Sorry to go off-topic here.
lmao I love when people use LMGTFY... by the way if you didnt figure out what it was its just stock style android like what would come on the G1, G2, or Nexus phone's, people call it AOSP or Vanilla Android... I call it AOSP but it doesn't truly make sense because thats the project as a whole...
btw if you just looking for a stock AOSP rom I ported it for my mt4g :/ I just did it for my personal use so I added the custom things that I like but I don't really have the time to trouble shoot it or add other peoples custom things to it.... but if you want it let me know and Ill shoot it over

Yea..I am from like the northern suburbs(blaine) and I work in like North Saint Paul(Vandais Heights)... I don't really ever lose my H when it would ever really annoy me.. like I don't get it at home, but I have wifi there...and I don't get it on like one road on my way to work which sucks because I stream pandora to my radio in my car...but other than that I am really satisfied, but that might be simply because I am not a real POWER user...well I am I guess.. but maybe then its just because I came from an unlocked iphone 2g...so lets just say a laggy "H" is still a FAR better connection than edge...hahah

I <3 you... god.. I understand it must be annoying when you think people aren't atleast attempting to google things first, but the truth is I just don't understand the **** that I find on google, I need someone to take a sentence out of their life and put it to me in lamens terms... like you just did.. I didin't really know what AOSP was cept an acronym for android open source project...but now that you have explained to me that it is just anothe way of referring to vanilla builds or whatever, that makes a lot more sense to me.... I don't think I am looking or an AOSP though... cuz I like the friendstream widget, and the news widget...cuz it vastly entertains me to browse status updates and what not from a home screen rather then having to go to a site or open an application...or pay for a widget that mirrors a widget I have for free... naawww mean????? So I don't really know but ...I? Like? Sense?..

lmao im not gonna lie... i always preferred sense... that is until 2.2... that really stepped it up in my opinion, when I used my nexus one I always said it would be great if we could mash the 2... For example I like the aosp gallery but like the sense widgets (I guess I'm just a sucker for animations lol)... I built an aosp rom for myself a few weeks back but missed sense so went back to work on my tmo sense... now that I changed my status icons, changed recent apps in the status bar to be like the vibrants status bar and and changed the myfav's quick launch button changed I think I'm finally content in keeping it this way... or at least for the rest of the day lmao

So I've actually had this in the market for a few months now but never actually posted here. This was one of the first apps I created and it just sort of grew and got an assortment of features. So if anyone wants to give it a go here is the market link:

If anyone finds this app too complex, do try my other app I've developed to address this issue. It has nearly all the same features though very easy to use. Here is the xda link:

+1 for sync! PLEEEEEEASE!!!!
Edit: Nevermind.
Love this POWERFUL app. But love to have the following changes in the upcoming version.
1. Memorize the settings selection in Extra. E.g. "from" and "to" language for Google Translate, Currency converter.
2. Sorted list for Currency. (e.g. ANG > BHD > VEF ...etc). It's quite hard to find the currency I am looking for the current implementation.
Just downloaded it, very nice app, seems to have LOADS of functionality.

If that's true, its still okay,

Its all part of a bigger picture, for me ;-)
Ill switch over, sync my cyanogen, and see. Maybe it will make my task easier
but I still like working with my stuff, I know what was done, and what needs to be done for the next evolution
Thanks for the heads up.
I have tested the rom. As discussed in the other thread, the market keeps FC ing but i noticed that it still installed all the apps(previously installed on my other rom). Wifi, calls...all works..i havent noticed any problems besides the market problem. It seems to be optimized for tablets ?? DON'T FLASH if you want a daily rom.

A FC market has not been discussed anywhere,, as far as i know where did you read that?
please link, as I may have missed that
yes it default loads with the status bar on the bottom, you can easily change that, very easily.
all the apps are synced up to tonites cyanogen merge
You say DONT FLASH, any strong reaon for that statment, other than the market issue you are having, but not everyone is.
Please, I need details, is it unusable? or you just dont like it?
Whatever cyanogen is bot building right now, has the same apps
each build, i have to repo sync again

Yes I sync with cyanogen to get the apps. Then merge those with the work I already did. Was up three days straight doing.
when I started making 2.3.7 work on my Samsung galaxy tab, the nexus s release was only out a day or two. I worked from that, mixing it with Samsung source code and making it more aosp and mixing in some cyanogen.
These test releases, I've stopped, and am looking closer at the new, as of it seems today or yesterday, cyanogen release/merge.
In fact, the brand new cyanogen 10/1/11 sync/merges ruined my last three builds.
Major errors
Except for the needed apps, which I would make myself, if I could, lol, I code myself.
When it gets to BOCA status, it will be based off cyanogen & aosp.
My own brew.
I try to have the whole thing coded by me from base, like my sgt7 Boca port. NOT!!!! A copy of the other sgt7 unofficial cm7 beta release.
BOCA for the tab is my own port job.
I prefer, when I can, build or port it myself, so I know the rom inside and out.
I don't have a black mark on my name, and am known to be a very honest person, here on xda, for those that know me, worked wit me or has their work in my rom.
well I did almost make someone loose photos of lost ones, but eventually it was fixed.
I'm just glad I got 2.3.7 out on one or two devices (sgt7 & g2) before cyanogen did.
I did do a massive Google search for 2.3.7 before I posted any thread outside of Sgt, and the only reply was nexus s.
so I am happy, and these are tests for the next Boca development stage.
I feel better about myself if I built it, I refuse to do a copy/paste theme release of someone else's rom.
Thank you, for your info, it will he helpfull

You might install Kernel Tuner & Seeder & once set up she gets REALLY smooth. Also, once I flash Gapps I will go to advanced & wipe Dalvik & set permissions before booting back up. It's always seemed to help tame a rambunctious ROM.
Something else I discovered a couple of ROMs ago is Deep Sleep Battery Saver. I installed it & set it to "Aggressive" & am sitting on 67% at 16 hours with about an hour screen time & an hour phone calls. It DOES work & make a difference.

Strapped, that is the very one I ALMOST installed on the wife's Nexus Sunday. But I opted for RootBox at the last minute since it was several versions further along than the one I ported. You're going to have to teach me a few things about building from source too. I've decided to take my desktop & make it a dedicated build server here REAL soon. It can sit in the bedroom & compile away while I'm messing with the laptop.
How's the kernel experimentation been going?

Well SaberMOD is one of the top optimized ROMs we mako users have, along with sparksco kernel, so usually what I do is just cherry-pick stuff in and compile his kernel with whatever it is I kang elsewhere lol.
Some of the recent cherry-picks broke the compile so I got to keep at it because its adding options visible to the user without interfering with how the kernel performs.
I'm almost out of room on the partition I installed Ubuntu on, so I'm thinking of trying to run it from one of them 1TB portable drives, and never worry again.
Building JellyBean takes a lot of space, hell the source alone is like 10-12GB to download, then there is something about needing 80GB for a set of builds ( I'm guessing multiple devices ) blah blah.
Right now sparksco has blessed us with absolutely everything needed to build, right down to build scripts that you just run, choose a couple options then build.
I mostly find myself just flipping through the source though, looking at the massive amounts of files and trying to get an understanding of how source is structured in terms of where -X- file is located for SystemUI before its built so I can edit source level. Starting small with what's already there and hopefully I can learn way more in the process
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Good Grief it takes a lot of system just to start! I DO have plenty of HD space on the desktop though. I'm going to have to do some research & get more involved VERY soon myself. But at the moment I'm tinkering around with a flashing tool I was given the idea for. I believe it's going to be pretty cool....eventually. LMAO

Hey, Weekends, thanks for another yummy one!
I've got two other family phones on different versions of PacMan, but this one is even better! I'm having a great time playing with it. I love the "Permissions" menu in "settings," for one.
Sorry to ask, but could you help me find how to turn on the navbar? I found a lot of navbar settings, but there's no "Enable Bar" check box/button/radio.
I also found a problem that probably dates back a long time. At least I remember having it in ROMs I tried a long time ago: "Settings > Storage" FCs. I believe there was no cure, but there were workarounds.
I haven't loaded it up with all the apps I usually do, but so far it's great. After wiping, fixing permissions, booting between flashes, etc., I've had no problems at all.
Again, THANK YOU!
(I'm also having a heck of a time reading the small fonts on the settings menus. But, then again, that's why God invented optometrists!)

Hey Strapped, good to hear from you!
It's been a while.
LOL! ME TOO! My eyes aren't as young as they used to be and that about the only thing I DON'T like about the Paranoid side of PACMan. I set my font to huge & just grin and bear it bro. You can get some bigger in the apps by tinkering with the dpi but the internal functions seem to be a bit different since the default is a tablet format. I COULD be wrong though But am still playing around with it too.
As the Storage function goes, I've always written that one off as one of the things that AOPK & CM10.1 can't agree on & they just say the heck with it. If you CAN find a workaround...or if I do...Let's please share it & I'll serve it up in the OP.
Let me check on the NavBar thing.....
After taking an in depth look myself, I can't find it either Jesterfell. But it could be that it just wasn't put in there because it conflicted somehow with pie. It DOES work really well in this one so you might just use that as your replacement. I COULD make you a flashable fix that will put that line of code into build.prop that activates the NavBar. OR, you could add it yourself. Your call buddy....just let me know.
Tried this ROM today
Gotta say, i dont like that side of paranoid too xD
Well, besides that i personally didnt find any glitches so far, but somehow i dont like the ROM itselve at all :/
Thanks for the port though, could take a peek xD

Same here! Love all the settings, but sometimes just can't read them to know WHAT I'm setting! With Paranoid, I always found that when I improved the readability of settings, I distorted something else.

Now that you mention it, I do remember reading that PIE had to be turned off for the navbar to work. I didn't find a way to do that either--probably a compromise choice had to be made to leave both settings out.
Embarrassingly, I forget PIE is there, LOL! Another problem is that, after a while of use, I somehow managed to get it to rotate counterclockwise just enough so that the "BACK" button is off the screen. I don't think that should even be possible!?
Then again, I did manage to turn OFF the search button in pie by checking the settings box as if I wanted to turn it ON!
I did remember an old workaround that's doing the job for now: I re-mapped the "SEARCH" hard key as another "BACK" key.

... I COULD make you a flashable fix that will put that line of code into build.prop that activates the NavBar. OR, you could add it yourself. Your call buddy....just let me know.

Thanks, Weekends. I appreciate the offer.
I tried the "qemu.hw.mainkeys=0" line, but it didn't do anything. Is there another mod for navbar?
Like I said, though, it's still too much fun to put down--especially now that I've got my wife's phone to play with. That still leaves mine as the DD!

...As the Storage function goes, I've always written that one off as one of the things that AOPK & CM10.1 can't agree on & they just say the heck with it. If you CAN find a workaround...or if I do...Let's please share it & I'll serve it up in the OP....

I can't find my notes on it, but thinking back on it, I don't think there was a real workaround. It was just a way to turn on USB storage by tapping the "USB connected" bar in notifications, and choosing storage there.
Now I can't even find a "USB connected" notification! There's a debugging notice, but no connected one... I really have to learn to stop changing things BEFORE I break something!
Which clock app does this one have? I love the one on all of the other apps and was a bit disappointed this one didn't have the one I'm used to. Can anyone post a screenshot?

I'd say you could download the one you like best. The "cLock" one is the one that comes with it (see 1st screenshot) The others are from "one more clock" which I downloaded. But they just scratch the surface of the over 30 that you can choose from.

Oh, I'm sorry, I meant the Android Clock/Alarm app, not the widgets. You know where you set your alarms...
Looks like the same one that I've been used to seeing Rory.

Oh excellent! That wasn't in the last version for whatever reason. How about the option to add a little AM/PM to the clock on the notification bar. Yes, I am neurotic!
There's an article from geek.com/androidpolice.com outlining Focal, a new camera app from the CM team. It seems awesome, especially for our device which has always had issues with the camera as compared to the stock camera app.
One of the best parts is that it is modular, so any dev can enable special features specific to our device, like zero shutter lag that we don't really get on AOSP camera app.
Just thought I'd share with you guys!

DISCLAIMER: I just found the APK because I searched for it. I found it, it runs, so I'm sharing it with this community. I haven't tested it extensively, so don't come to me if anything happens. You do this on your own.

EDIT: I give up. Sorry for trolling you guys.
And I should say, nice article.

I knew you guys would be willing to test it. I've built the app from source for our device. It's still pretty buggy, though. HDR is laggy, green artifacts appear occasionally, certain features do not even work.
Anyway, grab it here. :highfive:

Is there a version for the Epic 4G Touch (Sprint SGS2)? If so I'd love to try it out/test it out.
Spring Samsung Epic 4G Touch (SPH-D710)
CyanogenMod Version: 10.1020130705-UNOFFICIAL-d710
Android Version: 4.2.2
Thanks!

i would say "ban this troll!" but this was well executed so i'm ok with it lol.
my first thoughts were like uh source isn't even out yet
update from the focal apk: it runs. overall works. focusing is meh on this device, everything looks kind of faded. it has issues connecting to the camera after a few tries...
anyway, i would only recommend using the apk for fun just to try it. there's obviously a crapload of bugs left that the CM team are already aware of, and they're working tirelessly to fix them.

Was very excited when first heard of this, figured since I'm using the unofficial CM build for this (SilverL's 4.2.2) that we might see it integrated into one of the builds.
Guess there are more issues than it's worth and we likely won't be seeing it fully operational?
Surprisingly its not just our device that its really buggy for. Other legacy devices are having a hard time getting it to work, and we're always waiting for the sensation to get fixed so its worse for us.
However the issue is with the focal app itself. I don't blame the cm team. They're going through a lot of awesome stuff right now, and I believe they're writing the focal app from the ground up, as compared to before where they were building on the aosp camera.
Anyway point is that its buggy for all cm users. Especially legacy devices.
But time fixes all bugs
Oh good, hope! I still love our "legacy" device more than 80% of the current tech that's out there, so glad I haven't had to buy a new smartphone in so long!
