The best most KitKat looking ROM? Or with the most functionality at least - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys I'm looking for upgrading my OPO ROM BUT I SWEAR each time I upgrade I just want to downgrade even more.
I hate this ui design bs, not because I find it ugly but because each time they “improve it”, it takes more functionality and productivity from me.
F*** Duarte's approved s***.
I'm looking for the same functionality I had on cyanogenmod11. Aka the most functionality of the last 3 builds. I need my actions to be fast and precise I want my phone to help me not to make my life even crappier.
Most important are:
I want to input my pin fast (nougat dropped immediate log in with correct pin). (And this is after they added a ****ing swipe screen before the pin lock on Lollipop. Thank god there was a option to skip it)
I NEED more TILES and functionality in them (multiple toggles for GPS precision and battery management, NFC, compass and LTE) nougat dropped all of these. WHAT. THE. F***?!?
The tiles menu disappeared completely.
Turn the animations off or at least decrease or accelerate the animations.
These might not seem like much and might seem like I'm very picky but for me they are nerve wrecking and make a HUGE difference on my day to day.
So which Roms do you recommend? Based on this? Are there any or should I just go back to KitKat?
PS: I've heard that Xposed can add this kind of functionality is that true? And if so how can I add xposed without tripping SafetyNet?

AOKP nougat has all that. Correct pin and you're in. All the tiles you list are there. Animations can be turned off I'm pretty sure in any ROM in developer options.

HELP!! Temporarily disabling the lock screen, problems with ICS on any device.

Hi all. I use the pattern lockscreen on my devices (it happens with any style of lockscreen anyway) and one of the very first apps that I install on my smartphones and tablet is a widget to temporarily disable the lockscreen while at home and whenever else it comes handy to do so. I have used various apps for this but it's 2 years that I use Battery Indicator Pro which is also useful in other ways.
Everything has always worked fine on my Galaxy S (Froyo then Gingerbread), SII (Gingerbread), Note (Gingerbread) and Galaxy Tab 10.1" (Honeycomb) then in January I flashed the Kang ICS on the G.Tab for a few months and more recently I flashed CM9 on my Galaxy S and on both of them when I disable the lockscreen everything seems to work as it should until I tap on any notification in the notification bar. Then my lockscreen appears, I am prompted to unlock it and from then on the lockscreen gets re-enabled until I "re-enable" it via the app I am using and then disable it again. This works until the next time I tap on another notification...
This is not device-specific because I have read about other folks having the same problem on other devices and it's not app-specific because I have tried several apps and widgets with the same exact result. This is something ICS-related.
Please tell me there is a solution for this! On my tablet and my Galaxy S it's extremely annoying but on my Note, my daily driver, it would be unbearable
This is also one of the reasons why I have not yet updated my Note to ICS BTW...
And please don't tell me to "simply" disable it in the settings! LOL
TIA
Hey, I'm having this problem too... have you find any solution for it??? I'm using an app called "Extended controls" which worked pretty fine in GB. I'm a Note owner too btw !!!!!

Nope, no solution other than avoiding tapping on notifications when the lockscreen is disabled...
To enable/disable the lockscreen I am now using the "No Lock Screen" widget (by Futon Redemption) and I have placed one of them on every page so it's at least quick and easy to enable/disable the lockscreen.
I have also discovered that this new behaviour is only triggered by the secure lockscreens (pattern, PIN etc.) but since the least amount of security I am confortable with is the pattern lockscreen that doesn't help me at all...
I can't believe very few people seem to notice, do people actually USE their smartphones?? Or do people just use the unsecure lockscreen on devices where we keep more and more valuable and sentitive personal data??
I think that being able to easily temporarily disable the lockscreen should be one of the very basic operating system features... (as, for example, should be recurrent notifications of missed calls/msgs/etc, another thing for which we have to rely on 3rd party apps...)
Anyone?
I've been having this issue ever since I upgraded to ICS on my galaxy note. I was hoping that the upgrade to JB on my Galaxy Note 2 would fix the issue, but it doesn't.
I used to use a widget on the screen, now I use NFC and NFC Tasker to enable and disable what I call "Home Mode." (wifi, lock screen, volume for ringer, etc).
I know now that it's not a bug for my Note. It's a bug in Android in general. It is really starting to bug me. I'm going to subscribe to this thread because I'm very interested in a solution. It's a pain in the neck

I've had it with Lollipop

Lollipop seems to be the worst update I've had in years. I was in the UK and suing the Vodafone network (a mistake in itself), and it kept hassling me to update. In the end I did, and the patch that followed. I am not at all happy. I am on 5.0, and not 5.1, but I have read that 5.1 does not fix much.
My main grips are:
No actual benefits?
Alerts are silly, especially with the lock screen. They have mad a mess of this.
Removal of the privacy mode, which is vital to me as I use the phone as an alarm (even in 5.1 you can't allow the alarm and stop calls etc AFAIK)
Email alerts all show blank and are not removed when viewing the mail unless you click on the (useless) notification itself.
Connections with my Gear 2 are lost, and it does not connect again. The Gear thinks it is, so refuses connections
Task list is awful. I struggle to pick out which app is which. The old was was far simpler.
No longer a media controller on the lock screen unless you have notifications set on.
Automatic brightness stuff up, and makes the screen flicker.
? Can't think of more now (but there are), these are the most annoying to me.
This weekend I'll be doing a factory reset and re-installing the available Kit-Kat here in Oz. I'll refuse Lollipop until all these issues are fixed, which probably means never.
• Yes. The actual benefit is that since the launch of Android it is the first iteration which changed the way Android works, by moving to ART from Dalvik. Now I don't know how much better is ART than Dalvik, so don't ask.
• Yes. I hate that too. You mean the persistent notifications on lock screen right? Well you gotta deal with that it seems. I have tried to find an app or an Xposed module, but I haven't found any. If you do find something then please let me know. And I am sure you know how to disable that bloody irritating Headsup notifications.
• I have never used Privacy mode of Samsung, but my phone is almost always on Silent. But I have noticed that the Do Not Disturb mode is reintroduced in last update, OF3. In any case we should be thankful to Samsung that they have brought back the actual Silent mode of KitKat. Shame Google.
• I use AquaMail, and I don't notice any problem at all.
• No idea, no wear units.
• Disagree with you. I really like the new task switcher. Yes, you need to be a bit picky, but not to any extent of causing any annoyance. Personal preference though.
• No idea! God work life is killing me, haven't listened to music in months!
• Yes, this is a really irritating issue, however for me the auto brightness doesn't increase, but decrease actually. And no the screen doesn't flicker, at least haven't noticed that so far on OF3.
• .............
If you were happy with KK, then simply switch back. At initial stage I was anger with Lollipop too, but mainly because of disappearance of Silent mode and then those damn notifications on lock screen, but as the former is solved now, and I simple love Light backgrounds than darkish ones, I can't think about moving back to KK. And now when Xposed is all but working I can't even think it
Best of luck.
you should have posted this on samsungs forum, not on a hacking forum that has no affiliation with samsung

Quick settings editing.

Hey,I came from an M8 where there was a tab on the quick setting to edit the order of the settings when the notification bar is two finger swiped. How do we do that in marshmallow?
I think you are referring the "System UI Tuner" feature of Marshmallow. I tried to activate it, without any luck. Maybe HTC Sense disables it.
http://www.androidcentral.com/inside-marshmallow-system-ui-tuner
Just tried it, no luck either. There must be a work around.
No luck
I cannot get this to work. I have an A9 with Sprint. Developer options are on, animation is on, and I've tried every scenario in this thread. The main reason I'd like to change the quick settings menu is I see a security flaw (I'll call it). When the phone is locked, whenever you wake the screen you can still pull down the quick settings menu. So if my phone gets stolen someone can turn off my mobile data and/or Wi-Fi. Problem then is I am not able to lock, wipe, or locate my device. This obviously has to be an oversight on Google but I'm sure it'll be addressed someday
SystemUI Tuner is NOT on the Sprint A9 at least if not missing on all.
I'd suggest reaching out to @moversi and JasonMac at HTC regarding this, as it doesn't line up with their press to bring a more slim sense and stock Android here.
In my opinion HTC has been faulty for awhile at removing bone stock Android features, all of which should be present on the A9 with its slimmer sense.
-MultiUser support
-Ambient Display(have Amoled screen now)
-SystemUI Tuner
-Adaptive Sound I believe is another
HTC did a great job at enhancing Android for many years but now Android has evolved to the point where we are seeing stock features removed completely.
Hopefully they address this, but it's not likely unless they hear the outcry as things like multiuser have been absent for a long long long time on Sprint at least.

That figures, thanks for letting me know this so I'm not going crazy anymore. Would I have this option if I root the phone? I'm really leaning towards rooting (as soon as Marshmallow is figured out) so simple things like this are possible.
Hey guys, I'm also really missing the quick settings editing feature. Is there an HTC support forum where we could bring out this issue?

7.1.1 (RR) WiFi and BlueTooth Quick Tiles Drop-Down Menus gone?

I finally got my N5 upgraded to 7.1.1 this weekend and was surprised to find out that the Quick Tiles for WiFi and BlueTooth don't have the 'Drop Down' Menus I've gotten plenty used to in Lollipop and MarshMallow. The ones that let you manually change Access Points or BlueTooth devices from the Notification Panel?
I used Resurrection Remix to do the upgrade.
Maybe I'm just missing something simple?
I sure will miss them if they're gone?
I used RR to upgrade my 2 N7's as well and they're the same.
Pretty cool that all 3 can now do Google Assistant without any further work, too!
Thanks,
-Kyle
No need fkr separate thread you could ask in G+ community or in RR original thread but ok... Go to Customizations and in quicksettigs disbale Wifi easy toggle and Bluetooth Easy toggle
Well, thanks for that.
I'd actually turned that feature on because I (guess) I didn't recognize it.
For a while now I'd been use to the drop-down menu (with the little down arrow).
I guess that this way does the same thing thing but without the drop-down menu. Kind of just pops up a window with the AP's listed. Works fine. I suppose (if anybody cares) that I prefer the arrow. Seems more intuitive to me.
Sorry for the late reply...I was 'indisposed'.

help finding a replacement Oreo TW rom please

Hi, I'm looking for a suggestion on a ROM to replace my current one.
I've used Superman after trying all the roms available about a year or so ago. Now it's EOL and I need an Oreo rom. I've spent the better part of two days installing a bunch and setting them up and finding issues. I have a handful of features that I really would prefer to have, and can't find anything that lines up. I don't think they're over the top features, just can't find them together.
Here's what I put together for what I'm looking for:
Musts:
Stable
Magisk, or can flash Magisk with MoRo Kernel
Dialer has "places" tab to search nearby things
Most Samsung apps removed, no upday, no skype
Removed brightness and volume warnings
Fingerprint unlock on first boot - can't find a flashable mod for this
Network up/down speed on status bar
Call recording
Status bar/Tiles/System UI/etc work with Galaxy Themes
Can install http://tekhd.com/detonator/ T-Mobile CSC for Wifi Calling and VoLTE
Would prefer but can probably find alternatives:
Has reboot to recovery in boot menu.
Long press back button to end - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=flar2.homebutton
would be nice if it were built in, but can work around
Dual speakers - could just flash: https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/themes/mod-dual-speaker-sound-mod-v4-0-oreo-8-0-t3787782
Ok without but nice to have:
Mobile data confirmations were also removed.
Selectable boot menu choices
Fingerprint from always on for unlocking when screen off
- is it really a battery drain? Superman had it and my battery was ok.
Swipe from right to pull down tiles
Only reason I want to stick with TW is the camera quality. Wish that didn't teather me to it.
Could anyone please suggest ROM's that have most of those things? Or alternative ways to get them that doesn't involve disassembling?
Thank you

Been using BlackPearl for a while now with no problems
https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/development/blackpearls9-smooth-fastv1-0-t3760189
Recently tried that one. The Detonator TMobile CSC didn't work, I think maybe because it's a S9 port, so no VoLTE/WifiCall/places dialer. I saw the BlackkPearl N8, but that doesn't have many features. HyperRom was close, but the OneUI breaks all theamability.
Currently testing Deluxe Rom, seems to have all that and more. Though stability might be precarious based on its thread. About to root with Magisk via the MoroKernel 5.0 installer. *crosses fingers*
Also, the Deluxe Rom AC/DC boot animation + sound is the most gaudy boot animation I've ever seen, lol. Fortunately it's optional.
Got all the things installed on Deluxe Rom, so far so good. I sure hope the battery life is ok and it's still stable tomorrow.
Between xposed modules and magisk modules, most of your list could probably be completed on any ROM. I'm still on Superman Nougat, and I'd say I have more mods from xposed modules than what the ROM offered.
