Samsung Pass NOT working on fully stock S7 (G930L) never rooted - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hi guys,
I have tried everything to get Samsung Pass to work, to no avail. Please find the relevant info. below and let me know if anyone knows the solution.
My phone:
G930L (STOCK, NEVER rooted, NEVER installed custom recovery, KNOX is UN-TRIGGERED)
Nougat 7.0 latest update
Symptoms:
When I go to Samsung Pass option in settings, there's a page that describes what Samsung Pass is, that you can "SKIP". After I skip (or after flipping through the pages), I have to enter in my Samsung Account details (ID and password).
--> After I input my password and press "CONFIRM", the small "Processing" window opens up, and stays in that loop forever.
Things I've tried:
1. Deleting my account, both from the phone and from the internet site
2. Factory reset
3. Re-install factory Firmware
4. Changed my password and re-logged in
Samsung Pay works perfectly, and I have no trouble signing into the Samsung account from both my phone and from Chrome browser on my PC. The phone is not one of those stolen/lost phones, and is registered under my name.
I cannot for the life of me figure out how to fix this issue, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
TIA,
John

Same issue here, haven't been able to find a solution so far. Samsung Pass was working flawlessly in the Beta Firmwares though.

Could we sent an email to Samsung? See if it's a server problem
(Like it was for Samsung Cloud in beta 4)

Got a response from Samsung:
Dear Customer,
Thank you for contacting us. We appreciate the opportunity to assist you.
I understand from your inquiry that you are having difficulties setting up the S Pass service on your device.
In this case I would advise you to perform a reset of the Samsung Pass service, as this should solve any store related issues.
First, please make sure that you are signed in with your Samsung account on your device, by going to Settings > Accounts > Add account > Samsung account > Sign-in.
After that, please go to Settings > Application manager > Tap on "More" in the top right corner > Show system apps > from the provided list search for Samsung Pass > then "Force stop" the app and and after that from the "Storage" section in the same screen of the app perform a Clear cache and Clear data operations.
Then power off your device and then back on.
After that go to the Samsung Pass section in settings and try to set up the service again.
If the issue persists, please contact us back with a detailed description of the situation that you encounter and a screenshot with the situation and we will further investigate the issue.
Also, please send us the logfiles from the device, in case our developers need to investigate if there are some software issues.
To capture the logfiles, please follow the bellow steps:
1. Go to Dial screen
2. Press *#9900#
3. Select "Delete dumpstate/logcat"
4. Use the two devices and reproduce the issue (in this case, have an e-mail, text message or phone call made to your device, until the notification should appear on the Gear)
5. Select "Run dumpstate/logcat"
6. Select "Copy to sdcard(include CP Ramdump)"
7. connect the mobile to USB in PC
8. using explorer, go to "/sdcard/log" folder
9. zip the all files and send it.

I am still waiting for a response. Are you gonna send the logfile? Because their solution has been tried a thousand times without any change.

I managed to get this working by manually updating Samsung Account (to 2.2.03-8) via an APK from sammobile.com, and restarting. Took about three attempts, but was then successful!

I found a new version of Samsung Pass..You could try it!

Actually it's a little hard to find it in there..the app phone info shows the active csc on the phone.
Nevertheless it's weird that is saying unavailable.

Thank you for the trouble ..Now i am gonna try and figure it out why isn't working on BTU.

Hello I have this problem with Smart Pass. I have S7 Edge Brand Vodafone I try with BTU and H3G Italy firmware but it say always: Samsung Pass is temporarily not available...

For anyone still having problems with Samsung Pass, I tried the steps Samsung provided, I tried installing from the APK, I had Samsung Tech Support on the phone for 2 hours and also went to a Samsung Experience store. Nothing worked.
Then...I deleted my Samsung Account from my phone, went directly to Samsung Pass via settings, and had to log into my Samsung Account through Pass and voila, Pass now works. Try this first before or even after a factory reset. My S8+ was basically factory reset when I had this issue as I got the phone 4 days ago. Hope this helps

still stuck

Unfortunately at this Forum is no information about Tab 7.7 Plus. I have Galaxy Tab 7.7 Plus(SC-01E) and I'm not sure it is possible to change stock ROM to any alternative one.
There are not many differences between Tab 7.7 and Plus version (only difference is: CPU and DVB-T Tuner).
It is possible that ROM for 7.7 will work in 7.7 Plus?
Here's the link Gabirumaster mentioned:
http://yanoshi.hatenablog.jp/entry/2013/05/05/014140
I managed to root my phone, thanks to the links in this tread.
If someone has problems in rooting, write here.
However, it's so easy - you download 2 files and then run them one after another... Amazing.
By the way I also would like to know whether I can flash another ROM instead of pre-installed Japanese on this device
Anyone knows?

You can flash another ROM if you have a custom CWM, and for this case, I was failed to insert the custom CWM. Could you install a custom CWM to your 7.7 Plus? If yes, could you give me a guide? Thanks,,
Thanks. Don't feel like flashing CWM at the moment, though. Would like to keep stock rom. But might need CWM one day, cause the SC-01E is a MOST glitchy device I ever had (and I had 3 of them before). Do not recommend anyone to buy it. Really awful device by Samsung this time, fund something else if you can, save time and nerves...

Yesterday it was my Docomo 7.7 SC-01E is I've unlocked everything. Plus, I have prepared the new cleaned rooted firmware ..
GUIDE:
1. Flash my Stock cleaned rooted multilanguage firmware UI06 with Odin 3.07 in PDA (this firmware is fresher than a uh11):
Download Stock_Rooted_SC01E_SHV_E150S_UI06
{

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
2. After go in recovery (you can use QuickBoot that I added in the rom) and do: wipe reset factory
Now we unlock the ability to make and receive calls: (These modems are always part of this firmware, but if you like the bootloader will not allow you to flash via Odin-we will use the terminal)
1. Put these 2 modems in internal sdcard
2. Install the terminal
3. Open the terminal, write su and press ok
4. Write this command (and press ok) :
Code:
dd of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p17 if=/sdcard/mdm.bin
5. Write this command (and press again ok):
Code:
dd of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p13 if=/sdcard/amss.bin
5. Reboot in recovery and do: wipe reset factory again
6. Turn ON your tablet, open the dialer and write: 319712358
7. Write the password: 996412
8. Go in Network Setting → Channel setting, choose: full, press: apply (The device will reboot)
9. Wipe reset factory in recovery again and enjoy:victory:

Check your device manager. If it looks like the image follows, it means your ADB driver does not been installed successful.
This is the successful status.
If you can't install ADB driver by automatic installation. You can install ZTE Join Me(mobile phone manager software), it will intall ADB.
2. Recovery
Extract it into any directory.
Click flashrecovery.cmd (antepenultimate) to this interface:
It will run automatically and reboot your phone. If not, reboot your phone and computer, then try again.
If everything is fine, try to enter the recovery.
Shutdown the phone, pressing on volume key by right hand + pressing on power key by left hand. When you see the screen light up and feel the vibration, release the power button. KEEP PRESS ON VOLUME KEY until you see the recovery interface.
-upgrade your system from SD card
-use slideload to upgrade your system
-wipe out data/restore the factory data
-wipe out cache

Good!
took weeks breaking my head up late at night from surfing the net to find some way to rooting this stunning smartphone. But I've been stuck due to no knowledge of ADB commands and of course having no Chinese idea, since supposedly there's an app that automatically Root the phone, but I can not make it work.
Having my disability, I share with you all the information and resources I've got to give you hope someone knows the correct usage.
And it is a shame that a HIGH terminal does not remove all power performance not ROOT and therefore can not set you GAPPS

Can anyone give detailed directions?
I just got the device. I tried installing a google play store apk (tried a few different versions) all installed but none work.
How can I install the play store? Do I have to root the device? If so, are there detailed (English) instructions somewhere?
Someone knows if the Mobileuncle MTK Tools can root zte v5? I need to find a" one-click" app...
Partial success
I have installed the rom from needrom for the N5 android v 4.2.2. Took a while to flash the recovery, which is in chainese (driver issues). But still have serious connections issues:
The 3G network disconnects on restart and takes forever to reconnect. Wifi doesn't work! Built in keyboard is awful and also... chainese!
But it is rooted and has the google apps.
Does any one recommend a better combination of recovery and rom?
This is my wife's phone and she is having a lot of trouble with it.

I Followed downloaded the files from the dropbox posted upper in this thread. and followd the instructions in the previous page. Pay special attention to installing the driver for the divice. As soon as it reboots into bootloader it requires another driver.
Also if you must not restart the phone before flashing the rom otherwise it won't last.

[TOOL][WIN]Gstreamer emergency toolbox, for devices with broken lcd or digitizer ;)

Hi all, i passed trough the bad experience of a phone with a broken screen, all my data was trapped inside the device and i couldn't see nothing on the screen :crying:
So i decided to develop a little app, in order to be able to break into my phone again and save the more stuff i could.
Gstreamer (aka Ghost streamer) is able to let you see your device screen once again (that was the primary purpose...) and deal with it by clicking and swiping with your mousepointer on your phone screen picture (yes, it's slow but it gets the job done )but without the need to install softwares like VNC and similars (Gstreamer only allows you to gain access your files in a way or another and try to save it),.
If your dead phone was rooted and with a custom recovery, then yur life will be easy in case of broken screen , but if not , then the music changes a lot, that's why i thought my software could help other people to solve theproblems i meet during my data rescue attempts.
No matter the device screensize, it will adapt to your device screensize and will make your life easier if you broken your phone screen.
I'm still adding features to it, and planning to organize it in a better way, correcting some bugs, testing it on different phones and android versions, but it's actually working and improving day by day
if someone is interested in testing it with me, and report then the experience i'd be happy to cooperate.
at the moment this is the pre-alpha stage for me , but this is how it looks now

Hello,
tried you app, but it does not recognize my phone, because it has not debugging mode activated. I tried even "RSA ADB key inejection and..." but with no luck. For anther device, which has debugging mode active, I was able to get its data, but for the one with broken display and no debugging mode, it doesn't.
Any hints?
Regards,
can you provide some more informations about your device?
maybe you could try to repeat the procedure but in recovery mode
Hello,
Thanks for your time. So far you're the only one who gave me something as an information, or tip/hint.
My phone is an Samsung i9300i, with stock rom, only recently when trying to get the data through ADB, I have installed via ODIN an image named "CWM Recovery v6.0.3.6.tar", but still no effect in ADB.
Before replying to you I have tried recovery mode as well (power button, home, volume - and after 5 seconds volume up- as those were the steps required for my model to get into download mode). But I cannot get your up to recognize my phone. I tried with another one (HTC One M8s), with debugging mode on and the app recognize it in a flash. But with the broken one, no luck.
Are there necessary some custom drivers? Do you think some print screens could help?
a screenshot could help for sure
installing the proper adb drivers too, try with this --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50008343&postcount=486
also installing the official kies software by samsung may help
whas the phone rooted?
can it boot normally?
do you see something on the screen?
what is the damage on you phone?
android version?
Hello and good morning (for me it's still morning),
No, the phone was not rooted, was "untouched". I gave up the idea I can retrieve data via software and I was thinking to try to open it and have a display temporary put, but it's time consuming and I'm short on time to recover the data (some business information for my boss).
I'll try the drivers you have wrote and I'll came back with screen shots as well.
Regards,
sorry for the late post edit, but it came to my mind after i wrote
by the way... are you sure you booted into recovery mode?
my software shoud see the phone anyway when you hit the test conection button

Indeed I have had installed CWM (if by that you are referring to "CWM Recovery v6.0.3.6.tar" file - which I did, using ODIN (v.307)), as I thought the debugging mode would be activated, but it seem it doesn't. Please can you give me more details about what did you want to say by " moreover you said maybe you have a CWM recovery installed..."? Is it a bad thing? Should I flash to a stock rom?
And no, it does not show any devices like device-1234afsadsasdasd.
Regards,
what i mean is, if you installed a custom recovery and you also have your phone drivers properly installed you should have an adbd server running on the phone(provided by the custom recovery environment) and an adb client running on the pc, so they should see each other

Ok, now I understand what is the purpose for that img.
So, bottom line is I cannot seem to install proper drivers. I'll try different combinations of uninstall plus install drivers from your link (i had used the ones from Samsung site, released this year), plus computer reboot, as so far I wasn't able to have ADB listener list my device (or your application).

I'll try, but, I'm not able to check what is my build number. As far as I know, I have only the stock image (exactly as the phone came with) and am sure it hasn't have the 4.4.4 version, but something like 4.3 something...I have a colleague, back at work which has some same device (Sam I9300i) and I could check the version on that terminal and try my luck.
Thanks again for your time and insight

Hello,
I've just finished all leads meaning I have successfully rooted the phone by using your link; I got PASS message in ODIN using the exact image as the tutorial indicated. But, still I cannot connect to the phone with ADB, or by using your app.
If I boot normally I can hear the sound, see the top buttons lid and have the popup message in windows which tells me I can browse the mobile phone's content (onStdBoot.jpg).
If I boot in recovery mode (can see COM0 used in ODIN and can flash successfully) I get the devices on the second print screen (BootInDownloadMode.jpg) but cannot access it.
Could you please advise if there is anything else I can try?
Regards,
if you successfully rooted your device, booting it in recovery mode should make it show in my software

Hi mellomade,
Thanks for this ... I'm using another phone now running Lollipop, but still have the A760 running unofficial CM11.0. as a backup, I've downloaded all files, and will give it a go at a later date ... I'm between cataracts eye operations right one fixed, left should be done soon, I can't get new reading glasses until then, so I'm struggling with anything close-up right now. ...Jack

mellomade ... The A760 has always worked well for me, I wouldn't scrap it, I only have the newer one because it came as a present ( so far it's been equally as good).
I've been studying the instructions, and guess steps 1-9 install the new TWRP recovery, the new ROM installation is then normal TWRP procedure.
I do have TWRP recovery v.2.6.3.0 already installed, but I'm sure it isn't compatible with latest android versions, so no chance of an install via that
It will be interesting to see if others from the old thread pick up your link. Thanks again. .. Jack

Great! Actually, Starting from lollipop, rom installs require larger internal space. Since we barely have sufficient space for system on our A760, the internal storage needs to be repartition (done by HDD Raw copy tool). Luckily the provided image 'Lenovo_A760.imgc' will automatically install the updated recovery TWRP 2.8.7 (compatible for the rom install) so we dont have to.
I do think others from the old thread already shifted to other phones
The QPST link given is no more. Any chance you have another download link? Preferably one without malware, as there seems to be some of them floating around.

GM mellomade,
I have CM13 flashed OK now + the updated recovery, I'm finding heavy it on battery consumption,
mine loses 25% overnight with no additional apps installed as yet.
This is much higher than the unofficial CM11 Rom I have been using,
I've restricted some of google services in Privacy guard, this has helped a little
but I see no other way of reducing battery drain.
How do you find yours ?, and any suggestions please ?. ... J.

I was having the same experience too. I use Greenify App from play store, and put ALL apps into hibernation, except the one I required their notification to be alive (e.g; WhatsApp). That helps too. I guess that is one of disadvantages having an unofficial build, because it is not natively supported for our phone. Hence the high battery drain issue. On the bright side, we get to experience the latest (even though not updated) ROM :victory:

OK, Thought I may have a problem with ROM download, I did try a reflash which didn't help any. I'll try Greenify later, one thing I like about this ROM is the minimal system apps used (no bloatware).
My present phone (X-BO 06) running Lollipop, has a setting which allows the phone to switch off/on automatically overnight which is great for battery saving, I must see if i can find an app that does the same. Thanks again for the info. ... J. :highfive:

No no no. I think you may have misinterpreted my message there. I did mention, on our official rom, which is 4.1.2, the A760_1_A_2_0057_130828 updates from Lenovo. Sadly not on this unofficial cm build. However you can check out greenify, it does makes a lot difference if you hibernate unused apps. Hence, if this is your secondary phone, you may even hibernate all apps (which can significantly reduce battery consumption) without have to worry about any incoming notifications, am I right.

Hence, if this is your secondary phone, you may even hibernate all apps (which can significantly reduce battery consumption) without have to worry about any incoming notifications, am I right.

Ah yes !, gotcha now ... total misunderstanding this end, and yes I've installed greenify, it helps a lot. Thanks again. ... J.
Can you please give a device tree of this rom.I really need it.

[ATTENTION]: Before proceeding, save all your data on your computer and REMOVE ANY KIND OF UNLOCKING (sequence, pin, fingerprint etc ..); remove the sim and the microSD; get a microSD, at least 3/4 giga, where you can upload the files necessary for the procedure.
[NECESSARY CONDITIONS]: Starting from emui 8; have the cell phone charged to 100%; bootloader unlocked and the only procedure I know and working is the one I propose in the guide, the code is obtained by paying 4 €/$, THERE ARE NO FREE ALTERNATIVES.
[PREREQUISITES]: Download -> HiSuite , Dc-Unlocker
At this point we create a folder on the desktop and we will call it ANDROID1O to have a reference point and we will extract the folder contained in the dc-unlocker archive. Once the folder has been extracted, install adb and fastboot in order. At this point we can also install HiSuite.
[PROCEDURE]
[DOWNGRADE] In
order for dc-unlocker to read the bootloader code it is necessary to go back to an older version of android, so let's proceed as follows:
(1) We connect the mobile phone to the computer and start HiSuite, in some cases it will start automatically, and we follow the procedure that will be shown to us to enable debugging. If you have followed everything correctly HiSuite will read your device without problems.
(2) Remaining on HiSuite, click on the UPDATE SYSTEM item, a window will appear, at this point we can press on PREVIOUS VERSION (now I don't remember the precise wording) and we can start the downgrade. It will take a while.
(3) At the end of the downgrade we can start the mobile phone by skipping and ignoring the various configurations by putting the language in Italian as a matter of practicality, let's move on to the next step
[GET BOOTLOADER CODE]
(1) We go to the system settings ---> information ----> we do many taps until the message "now you are a developer" appears ----> we go back ----> developer options and activate usb debugging.
(2) Let's go to HiSuite and in the settings located at the top right we remove the check mark under "Start when it connects to the device" and close it.
(3) We buy the credits to read the bootloader code from https://www.dc-unlocker.com/buy in this way:
- We select the payment method
- We leave "new user account"
- We enter a username that we like it
- We enter an e-mail address to which we can easily access, here we will be sent the credentials to be able to access dc-ulocker
- We enter 4 in the credits box and then type on confirm
- If everything went well, the screen will appear with the credentials and you will receive a copy on the email
(We now have the necessary credits to be able to read the unlock code)
(4) Let's go back to the folder created on the desktop and start dc-unlocker and clicking on the SERVER item we enter the credentials obtained on the site
(5) At this point in the drop-down at the top left we look for the item HUAWEI PHONES
(6) A guide will appear that in any case I will report here:
- In the call keypad type the following combination * # * # 2846579 # * # *
- Press on MANUFACTURE MODE
(7) We can connect the mobile phone and press on the magnifying glass we see on dc-unlocker and if we have done everything correctly the program it will detect our mobile phone
(8) When the phone has been recognized we go to the UNLOCKING section and press on READ BOOTLOADER CODE, if we have done everything correctly we will get a code that we will enter somewhere so as not to lose it, we will need it later
(I leave you the video dc-unlocker official guide on how to unlock bootloader if you have any doubts ---> Help
(9) We disconnect the mobile phone from the computer
(10) After writing down the bootloader code we can close dc-unlocker, connect the mobile phone to a wifi network and search for system updates to return to the latest version of android and therefore to emui8,
if no updates appear, we try to force them by going to settings, wifi, press and hold on the wifi to which we are connected, modify, check advanced options, press on proxy, manual,
in proxy hostname we write localhost and in the port we write 8080 , we press on connect and if we return to the updates item it should find the most recent version. At this point we can update the mobile phone to the most recent version.
[BOOTLOADER UNLOCK]
(1) After returning to the most recent version of android we turn on the mobile phone
(2) We go to the system settings ---> information ----> do many taps until the message "you are now a developer "----> go back ----> developer options and activate the usb debug and the active voice unlock manufacturer
(3) We connect the mobile phone to the computer, press on transfer files, go back to the developer settings and activate the debug , at this point the mobile will ask us to give permissions to our computer and we confirm
(4) Let's go back to the desktop and at the top right click on file, open windows powershell, open windows poweshell as administrator and click on yes
(5) We type the command "adb devices" (write it without quotes), we wait for the end of the 'execution of the command and type again the command "adb devices" (without quotes)
and so we will see a number that corresponds to our mobile phone
(6) We give the command "adb reboot bootloader" (without quotes) and we send
(7) The mobile phone will start in a white screen with an android, the important thing is that two written in red appear with the words PHONE Unlocked and FRP Unlock
(8) From the Widows poweshell screen opened previously we give the command "fastboot oem unlock CODICEBOOTLOADER" (without quotation marks) (CODICEBOOTLOADER refers to the code obtained with Dc-Unlocker) and press on
enter (9) On the cellualre a warning will appear, press once the volume up key and then the power key to confirm the unlocking of the bootloader
(10) When the procedure is finished, it will take very little time, we give the command "fastboot reboot" (without quotes) and when the mobile phone screen it will go black we unplug it
(11) The cellualre will restart a couple of times with a white and other yellow writing, let it go, it will be returned to the factory settings and we will just have to skip all the configuration procedures but set the language in Italian
Finally the bootloader is unlocked!

Knowing this sooner I would do it with this tool. Anyway good to knoe but I don't think I would stay with Huawei brand due to their anti-community mods policy.

Yes, absolutelly. Why you prevent me to mod my phone if the phone is mine?
Here is a free alternative to DC-UNLOCKER
I've unlocked the bootloader and installed TWRP on my wife's phone (emui 8 up to date dec 2020)
Here is the program : Potato NV
Follow these instructions : PotatoNV - wiki
To find where the testpoint is located search for pralx1 STF testpoint on your favourite internet search engine.
PS : By the way, the understanding of how it works goes way beyond my technical skills...

And that means I no longer need to downgrade?

I didn't need to downgrade. I've just downgraded after the unlock via dload in order to install Android 11 Rom.

It's almost impossible to find it randomly. There are too many combinations...
If you read the issue section of this git, you'll see it by yourself.

I tried but It didn't work. Unfortunately I had an aplhanumeric code despite that my device was european, and this made impossible the task to find the code ( it would take millions of years to do a minimum percentage of combinations ).
I found it using PotatoNV, it adds the difficult part to disassemble the phone but it is very efficient.

It is not supposed to happen this way. You have to see something like "fastboot error: wrong password", so you're probably missing some permissions.
Anyway unless you have a numeric code there is virtually zero chance to find it in that way.
In my case I ran the script and in ~4 hours it tried all the numeric codes supposed to fit with my imei, but with no success. Later I discovered that my code was alphanumeric.
Hi everyone, I've just obtained te bootloader code, but now I'm stuck on EMUI 5.0.3, there are no updates available.
I tried forcing it but nothing changes..
On my P8 Lite 2017, I've tried the PotatoNV method which is, in fact, very easy (the most difficult part was to open the back cover, but with an opening tool it's easier) and no need to downgrade. For me the SkyEmie method was just a waste of time.
