WiMinder lets you set reminders based on your wireless devices connectivity events.
This means you can be reminded when you leave or enter your home, office or any other place you know its WiFi.
I know there are location based reminders, but I find them not accurate enough and furthermore, I can't be reminded when I leave a place, only when I enter it.
I've attached a version right here for the Google free users, but I'll be more than happy if you could opt in to the beta program and install it via the Google Play Store so Ill be able to monitor bugs and usage statistics.
Currently only WiFi is supported, I hope to bring Bluetooth support shortly.
After about 2 months in Beta testing I hope the app is now ready for everyone to use.
Please tell me everything you can think of, I'll be happy to hear and implement/fix.

Very interesting!

I actually really like the idea of using this purely as a notification for when I connect to networks or get disconnected. Like... I really like the idea of very technical information like that. In the premium version, are you able to set a specific notification sound? If you could do that I would really like it
Ooooooh! How about being able to set notifications for connecting or disconnecting to any WiFi network?

Ohhh I like it when all the requests are already implemented

You can do it, click the settings icon on the top right when in reminders screen

Well, currently there is no help screen or first time wizard, but you can write whatever you want in the 'Network SSID' and you will be reminded when the network SSID matched, the autocomplete is just for making things easier

Love this. Not to disrespect the developer, or the app itself.. but this feature should be part of the Google 'awareneess' thingy. But, as a matter of fact, it is not, and people like you have good ideas and pursue them. Keep it up!

Ohhhh damn, this is good. Gonna try this from and to work today.

Works nicely with my Amazfit watch. Very useful, thank you!

Thank you all Glad you like it.

Attached version 1.0.1, see changelog in main thread.
Play Store update rolling out.

App is out of beta ! have fun

Looking for COMPLETE navigation app

Hello all,
I've been searching back and forth on the forums and i couldn't find a complete navigation app (in my vision at least).
I am a Samsung Galaxy S2 user and i am looking for an alternate solution to Google Maps with the following features:
MUST HAVE
- offline map and navigation
- no process running while app is closed - my major problem
- up to date maps (or close)
- Eastern Europe maps (i am from Romania)
- compatibility with Contacts' address
GOOD TO HAVE
- low battery consumption while using it
- nice, idiot friendly interface :silly:
- some customizing
- chance to try before buy
I don't mind if it connects to the internet from time to time to check on updates & stuff... just not to be forced to connect to the internet to run it.
Do yourself a favour mate and stop writing everything in bold as it just gets annoying.
For the app, have a look at NavFree. I haven't used it on Android as I love Google Maps and couldn't care less about it connecting to the Internet all the time, but I use NavFree on my work-iPhone4 and it is near enough faultless.
Dude... if the post was too long to read... well... i am sorry for you.
Stop posting just to get a bigger post number cause you won't get a prize...
The bold was put especially so u can read better what i need. I need a nav app with THOSE FEATURES

I posted to answer your question - have you looked at NavFree yet? I couldn't care less about my post count - I gained a lot from XDA when I first rooted my phone, so I now try to help others out on here. Some people (look in the mirror) have been here for over a year, have 10 posts to their name and have only ever asked questions, never attempted to help another user

Regardless, putting the whole post in bold doesn't make it easier to read at all. Bold is supposed to highlight important words or phrases - using it for the entire post makes it more difficult to read.

I've checked the app but wasn't good (for me at least)... had only 10 maps that could be downloaded, my country wasn't there.
I found Route 66 Maps & Navigation. Till now it looks ok but i am still testing it. I am happy i can use the contacts' address directly.

[PROJECT][TUT][TASKER/ZOOM] Smart Dialer + Widget - A Tasker Tutorial

I've always been annoyed by search widgets taking me away from my beloved home screen to open an app instead of simply popping up a keyboard for me, allowing me to write directly my search query, like the iPhone -I don't care if you're a fan boy or if you hate it, I like that feature, deal with it.
After trying a few widgets, I noticed that all of them insisted on launching a separate app, which obviously means two things: no cool transparency/blur effects were used, and (as a result) my wallpaper went bye-bye every time I decided to search for something.
Anyway, long story short, I decided to give a shot at making a simple widget, just the way I want it, using Zoom and Tasker. And what started as a simple input-your-text-then-click-"Go"-to-launch-the-search-app-with-your-query grew. It grew to the point that I can now present you people with an acceptable build-it-yourself! (almost) fully functional widget.

Extract it, then import Dialer.prj.xml into Tasker.
You'll still need to manually re-add the pictures/icons used in the scenes.

Really very helpful tutorial. Never been worked with widget and tasker. This tutorial helps a lot! Will try this weekend and let you know!!
Added a download link, so you can quickly import it to Tasker. You'll still need to manually re-add the pictures/icons used in the scenes.
First of all thanks for writing this wonderful tutorial and giving the profile. I imported it and did everything using the tutorial but, when i dial a number it doesn't show up anything. I hope you can help
---------- Post added at 08:00 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:45 PM ----------
Actually I am trying to implement a very simple profile, which intercepts all outgoing calls to carry out an action (HTTP post) using the dialed number instead of actually dialing it using the phone but using simple profile it doesn't work as the variable %CONUM update is fishy (sometimes it works, mostly doesn't). I hope using your profile I can get the problem solved.

[HOW TO] Fox-Fi on 4.4.2

For those of you wanting to exploit your Data plan for WiFi, Tether, Bluetooth, this app is Confirmed working for the S5 with 4.4.2 with NO ROOT NEEDED.
1. Download the app from the Play Store for FREE.
2. Buy the Key for it ($7.95).
3. Turn on the app, make sure the Key is recognized.
4. Turn on the WiFi.
5. ONE TIME PASSWORD set-up, (unless you delete permissions after each use for easy unlock screen).
6. Then within 30 seconds, you must click over to the Integrated WiFi/Tether area of 'Other networks' and click the WiFi there to turn it on.
App, Key, Recognize, WiFi, 1 time PW, 30 sec integrated WiFi enable. Done.
If you want to change the name and security of the WiFi Hot-spot you will be creating, do so before you activate, otherwise you must restart program and process.
Quick demo and proof that it does work on the Galaxy S5
Just want to warn/give a heads up to anyone who downloads to use this, you give yourself up permission to 3rd parties to your email, internet, apps, and other things on your phone. You actually get a pop up telling you that..not really worth that risk in my book for something I only used once in a blue moon on my S4

@Dennisg34, have you seen the number of Installed 3rd party Certs that are on this phone from the Box?
He's right, if you are permission paranoid, be wary. If you want to have WiFi/Tether on your phone without Root (which I have been using this app for years with no issue) then you are safe to buy/use this app...

Lite Movie Database: IMDB or Wikipedia lite and offline

Hi there!! I am currently studying software engineering and as a grad thesis I have developed an android application to browse a movie, series and actors/directors database. You may think, what´s the difference with IMDB or Wikipedia?? Well, this app has two big differences: it´s lite and it has offline functionality.
It´s lite because it only brings the absolutely needed information everytime you search something. For every movie, series or person you search it only downloads about 20kb or 30kb plus its image, which can be disabled or limited to wifi.
It´s offline because not only saves the articles that you have searched but it also synchronize with a server and authomatically downloads articles searched by other users. This way, you can access them offline later. This sync also doesn´t spend network data as it can be configured only for wifi use or it can be disabled.
For those interested, I tell you how it works. The info is taken from a Google´s Freebase API and, as it looks for articles it creates documents for a local NoSQL CouchDB database that syncs with a server. It´s a very shallow explanation but I don´t want to bore everybody. However, I will gladly explain it in a more detailed way to anyone who wants.
I attach some pics and and you can look for this in the play store ( i cand post links ) :
Lite Movie Database
To sum it up, thanks to everybody that read up to here. I hope some of you are interested in the app, and those who don´t, if you just wanna download it and use it a bit , would be really helpful .
Thank you!!!!!

Samsung Email App - not getting VIP notifications?

Thanks for the help in advance.
Trying to get alerts only when VIPs email
Under "Notifications", I have "VIPs" set to Yes, and then my <email> set to No
However, I see no new notifications.
(When I set <email> to Yes, I do get notifications, but then I get notified on everything)
Is there a setting I missed? Thanks!
version 4.0.43-1
I got the same problem. Samsung S7 Edge VIP notification doesn't work. I tried the same procedure as yours.

Try a newer version or use a different email app?

Microsoft's Outlook seems about the best available
Did it work for you?
Tried the newest version on the 3rd website, Version: 4.0.63-0.
It still won't work.

I did some research on Microsoft's outlook. It didn't provide such a functionality. This should be built in by manufacture. Blackberry can do this nicely 10 years ago, which is still the only reason I am keeping using blackberry.
