My mom's phone and my P01v have the same version of Facebook Messenger. It works well on hers and use to on mine.
After a recent call I realized that FB Messenger now turned my screen off so I was not able to access the speakerphone feature as well as end the call. It did not do this before. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app, I have also reset my phone but there has been no improvement. The proximity sensor on my phone does not work. I have tried to make and receive regular phone calls and Viber calls and I was able to get a speaker phone, end the call, and the screen did not turn off.
Is there something wrong with Facebook Messenger? Since I have not been able to get the missing features and keep the screen on I'm now thinking of editing the FB apk instead. I was able to extract the apk, can anyone help me out on how to hack this app?
Note : I've had a similar issue with Asus dialer app (screen off, can't turn it on again during call, cannot access speakerphone, cannot end call unless I press the power button) and its because of the proximity sensor. I uninstalled the Asus phone dialer app and installed 3rd party dialer and phone related apps, problem solved.

I have a problem with my apps turning on when I am making a phone call.
I have narrow it down to the last app i used before i made a phone call. It will be on after i pull the phone away from my ear.
I dont understand what it does it it could be contacts message a game i have played the camera etc.
Any one know when this doe this?

ok this is a weird problem
my own fault
phone is the OnePlus one obviously.
have been having ongoing small problem with the dialer, as i use DW dialer.
sometimes when i went to make an outgoing call the stock dialer would also load and i would have to push the call button twice.
small problem but annoying.
so i went into the settings>apps>phone
and cleared the phone setting >launch by default.
this has fixed the outgoing calls problem
however now when i have incoming calls it doesnt bring up the window to let me answer them. the phone kind of hangs while the incoming call is ringing.
i can get back to the home screen. but there is no way to answer the call.
so i need a way to reassign the incoming calls to the phone.
i dont get any notification on the phone itself. just the ringing phone.
there is no way at all to answer the call - cant swipe down.
the only thing i can do is wait for the call to end. then see who is in my missed calls and ring them back.
please help

I've been having this problem for a few days now. Phone rings but no UI for me to answer the phone call. Any solution to this yet? Thanks.
U have to tell which ROM u r using. There should be some option in settings for accidental phone wake up (Something like that), you have to disable that. Search in the settings.
I have updated to 5.1.1 but problem is its not showing the name when incoming call....only showing first letter of the name how can we find who is calling
I've just solved this problem on my phone - I'd blocked notifications from Dialler:
Settings --> App Notifications --> Dialler --> Deselect Block

Whenever I attend a phone call or call on messenger app the screen goes off immediately as if I have held the phone against my ear. Then I lose control of the phone completely. I can't put the call on loudspeaker as the screen is off. The screen comes back after a while when the other person on the call ends the call. Or I have to switch off my phone. This happens also when I play an audio file on Whatsapp, the screen goes off and I hear audio from the speaker adjacent to front camera.
My friends having same phone and Android version don't face this problem. I tried rooting my phone, installed a custom ROM AOSP [7.1.1_r12]Nougat for Nexus 5 [N4F26M] but the problem still persists. If anybody knows the FIX or any suggestion please reply.
Google Pixel Going Crazy after 8.0 Update!
It does not let me answer any calls or make any calls, when ever the person on the other end picks up the phone it freezes, or when ever i answer the call the app freezes, crashes, then my pixel restarts, This also happens on any Application which u can make a call on such as Whatsapp, Viber or even facebook messenger.
I have sent so many bug reports, Still no news or luck, Two weeks back an update of 50.2MB was there, i updated and it was ok for 2 or 3 days and this started happening again,
I also notice when ever im watching a video or playing a song on my pixel, and i try to increase or decrease my volume i cant play with the "Media" volume with my volume key on the side of my phone, i can only increase or decrease the volume of 'Call' option.
Also i have noticed that when this happens the phones mic/speaker is having some issues since i tried tuning my Guitar with a Guitar tuner app and the mic wont pic any sound from my guitar.
This is starting to get really annoying and frustrating!!!

Hardware mic issue "hairline crack in the audio codec", it is known and my previous pixel had this issue, and I bought a new one since I couldn't send it back for replacement, check Google for RMA.
Made any headway with this problem?
I'm copping it as well, and not very pleased. I use my phone for business, and this is quite debilitating & unprofessional not being able to take a call, obviously.
I had a crash/reboot issue on my pixel xl
I booted into safe mode
then restarted in normal mode and seems to have cleared it
may not cure, but worth a try

I have Google Pixel 1- Sailfish-128 GB. I am having problems with using the Phone app functionality. When I am receiving any call and I answer it, the phone app crashes and the phone is not usable. Entire system UI crashes and the only option I have is pressing the power and volume down button to force shut it down. Same thing happens when I place any outgoing call through phone app or making/receiving call on any 3rd party apps like Whatsapp, Instagram etc.. I have tried factory reset from settings, Resetting from recovery.. but nothing helps.
Phone works somewhat fine as long as there is not outgoing/incoming calls.

So I've been having this problem for a while now. Basically, when someone calls me on Whatsapp, I can hear ringtone but turning locksreen shows nothing. Same thing when I unlock the phone, say for example I am on the home screen, I can hear ringtone, but no pops up notification to tell that a Whatsapp call is taking place.
So, this means: 1) if I'm at the lockscreen and get Whatsapp call, I would have no way to answer or end call. 2) if I unlock and use the phone and the Whatsapp calls come, I also dont know if it is Whatsapp and also cannot swipe down from notification and accept/reject call.
So, I would need to physically open Whatsapp and then it would show a call is coming through and so i can accept/reject call.
Reinstalling whatsapp fixed this problem. However, I believe it is only temporary. My settings: AOD off, Edge Lightning off and does not send notification for Whatsapp.
Does anyone else experience similar problem? Strangely, Whatsapp call is the only thing that causes problem.
