There are different versions of the device available - as you can see here: Amazon 7" Kindle Fire HD, 8.9" Kindle Fire HD, Kindle Fire 2.
Would be good to post the exact device name and model.
Here are some root threads about the most common Kindle Fire HD devices:

Maybe one of those works for your device.
And which rooting method hasn't worked for you?

[Completed] Downgrade Fire Tablet to Android 4

Hi all,
I bought a Amazon Fire 7'' six-pack to collect data for my research project...but the app we are using doesn't work with Fire OS 5 or Android 5. I need to install Android 2, 3, or 4.
My tablets are currently a mix of Fire OS 5.0.1 and 5.1.1. It looks like I can use RootJunky's SuperTool (can't post link because I'm a new user) to root both, but it looks like TWRP is only available for 5.0.1, for now.
I'm guessing my next step, for the 5.0.1 tablets, is to download a custom ROM that's close to Android 4 but works on Kindle 7 and install it using TWRP. It looks like I also need a custom bootloader? I'm wondering which ROM to use and which bootloader to use. Thanks!
