I'd guess the Mate 9 does support MHL, correct?
Any recommendations for usb-c to HDMI MHL cables (or adapters)?

Use the usb c 2.0 to micro usb b adaptor and then use a normal mhl cable. I use one I bought from ebay 1$ or something.
Has anyone tried this to see if it works?
I'm also keen to figure out the best way for MHL to work on this phone.

Trying.
Oddly the micro USB to USBC adapter that came with my mate 9 will not accept the micro USB MHL cable I used with my note 4. Fits all my other micro USB cables!?!?
Will try to locate another....

Huawei has never supported MHL, none of their previous devices came with MHL support.
Mate 9 does not support MHL. If you want screen mirroring you can use chromecast or huawei mirror/miracast. It does support DLNA for photos, music and videos only.
For example of miracast http://gtrusted.com/how-to-wirelessly-display-your-huawei-p8-screen-to-a-lg-4k-smart-tv
Wow. OK. Interesting.
This article:
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/blog/2017/01/how-to-connect-your-huawei-mate-9-to-a-tv/
Suggests MHL/HDMI may work. It does point out Chromecast and Miracast too as alternatives.
I guess it could be worth another try...

Yeah second try didn't work either. Not sure what that article was talking about.
There is a play store app called something like MHL checker...That says no MHL support...
So it goes..

huawei mate 7 owner and now a mate 9 owner.
i can tell you mhl works like a charm on huawei mate 7 when usb debugging is on with mhl cables i bought of ali
strangly those same cables do not work on mate 9
so mate 9 might be non mhl
but huawei definately had mhl working on mate 7
As i know. Mate 9 has a usb-c bus 2.0 MHL is possible in v >3.0. So as i know, MHL with Mhl-29 is impossible.

Anyone has use the mhl 3.0 hdtv adapter? It said that the power cable is not required? Anyone tested it? It also can send image to the tv at more resolution that 1080P.
Hey,
I don't know if this will help, but in my first week of owning the GNE I tried to connect it to my television using a mhl 1.0 adapter I got off of eBay. It needed the charging cable to power the adapter, but overall it didn't work. I read somewhere online, that a Samsung brand television is required, or maybe not? I have an Bose television, which is not that popular, but if someone on here can get it to work on a non-Samsung brand television using a mhl 3.0 adapter, let me know.
Thank you for your time and for reading.

I have an MHL 1.0 adapter (Samsung brand) that works fine with my Galaxy S3 and Note 10.1 (2014) tablet, but doesn't work with my Note Edge. Definitely something different between the two technologies.
I actually picked up an MHL cable form Amazon last week. I've used a few different brands, and they've always been unreliable - I'm including Samsung's here, which failed in less than a week (!) because of poor construction.
This one's worked pretty well for me so far! I've used it with my Note 10.1 as well as my Note Edge and my only real complaint is the shortness of the cable. You'll have to have a wall outlet pretty closeby or an extension cable in order to use this thing with either of the devices I mentioned. Or you can do what I did and just hook up one of those portable batteries you can get just about anywhere now.
I can't post links yet, but if you look up "Rankie MHL", youll find it.

I own samsung official mhl 3.0 cable. I connected my note 4 with a 4k philips tv and played some 4k samples from lg tv's. Philips TV reported the signal as 2k at info section.
P.S. I have not connected external power surce to mhl adapter
I just use a Belkin Miracast HDMI adapter... works great with the Edge.

Without previously reading any documentation of any sort I tried with an adapter I have at home. I tried with the 11 and the 5 pin adapters, with and without AC plugged to the converter module. It just didn't work.

Same here. MHL is not supported on the X2 even though it worked on the X1, which is a pity.

I've tried the MHL adapter that came with my S7 Edge and it's working fine on my X2, it recognizes and reads the USB memory stick without problem.
Are you talking about OTG or MHL? The former is an USB host to connect device... the latter is something to mirror phone screen through HDMI... Am I right?
Yes, you are right. OTG is working, MHL is not...

Instead of MHL I'm using the Multiscreen for mirroring its working perfect.
The MHL is not working but the screen mirroring in Chrome Cast works just fine for X2.

I have not tried one but my friend has a LG V10 and we went a brought a mhl cable adapter hooked it up and it did the same as the x2. So we did some research and found that a slim port adapter is wjat was needed to get the video out of the LG V10. So I was wondering has anyone tried a slim port adapter to play video over hdmi on a x2?

The Samsung HDMI Adapter, USB Type-C to HDMI, works perfectly with my Essential PH-1
Care to elaborate why all other Choetech hdmi products won't/don't work? "Confirmed by email" is not very helpful.
The travel inspira hubs listed do not work for HDMI out, at least not with Oreo beta 2.

I emailed them asking why the adapters I bought weren't working on my Essential, and they told me that the phone isn't supported and they also don't have any adapters that support the device. I don't know why though, they didn't/couldn't give me an explanation. The email is in a pretty bad German, so you probably won't understand it, but I'll attach it anyway for reference. Sorry for the vagueness, should have made that clear at the beginning.

I got this one, but based off of another user indicating it woks, but that was on 7.1, not 8.0. I recently saw in another (or this) thread someone bought another adapter that someone said worked, but wasn't working for them on the beta. Makes me wonder if it's broken on the beta...
Mine definitely works with the beta, too.
The LeEco usb c earphones also works
I think I determined why this may not be working for some, your TV or monitor. The travel inspira hub will not work on any of my samsung TV's, in the MHL port or otherwise.
However, it does work on my Samsung S27E330 monitor. This leads me to believe that the TVs do not have the most recent version of MHL, and thus will not work. This is kind of a bummer because I intended to use this on my TV in the living room, but at least I can confirm the device does work with Beta 2. I have not returned the legacy adapter, so I will test using that as well and report back.

Interesting observation. I tested the adapter successfully on the HDMI 1/MHL port (didn't check the other ones) of our Samsung Smart TV from the C series, which is from 2010 I believe..
But I also think the issues that some people mentioned with normally working adapters are issues with the display device itself.

Does the Mi Mix 2s support MHL or any other wired screen mirroring function? Because Miracast is always pretty laggy and it's especially bad when it comes to games.
AFAIK, Mi Mix 1/2/2S only support Miracast/Chromecast/Displaylink. You can try Displaylink supported adapter from Plugable (up to Full HD) and Chromecast Ultra (for 4K). Or you can try some Android TV boxs for Miracast.

As I said l, Miracast is pretty laggy and I was looking for a wired solution like MHL which worked a lot better on an older device I used to own. But still thanks for your answer.
Has someone really tried it though? Or does anyone know more in general?
Many have tried the wired Displaylink supported adapter on their Oneplus 5 along with usb otg. I think the main concern is whether the usb port can supply enough power or not. If that is the case, you have to buy another USB hub with seperare power supply.

From your infos It seems that the MiMix2s is normally able to put out an HDMIN signal through its USB-C port,
but only in combination with a specific app ('displaylink presenter')? This seems very unlikely for me.
Nowadays (6 years later) it surely exist a method with a "common" USB-C-to-HDMI-Adapter, or am I wrong?
I just bought the Honor 20 and found the Desktop mode using cast. But will a dongle(or hub) from USB-C to HDMI work like it does for the Honor 20 view?
It should work, try it
Sent from my P30 using Tapatalk
i tried the samsung type-c hdmi cable , it doesn't work.
Honor 20 comes with a USB 2.0 usb controller using USB-C interface. HDMI out only works on USB controllers with Controller revision 3.0+. So no, you cannot use C->HDMI adapters/cables.
