We are only allowed to discuss restoring IMEI using a IMEI backup, you obviously didn't create an IMEI backup before this happened so there is nothing we can do for you.

I'm just telling you what the rules say, it doesn't matter that it's a modem.

You won't get help with this at XDA. Discussions of altering IMEI are not allowed at XDA for any reason because altering IMEI is illegal in a lot of places. Sorry buddy, it's in the XDA Forum Rules, you should read them all.
XDA doesn't allow this because altering IMEI is what thieves do with stolen devices or when someone doesn't pay their bill and their device gets blacklisted, they alter IMEI so they can activate the device on another network without having to pay the owed bill or they do it to activate the device on the same network under someone else's name without having to pay the old bill.
XDA does not get involved with users trying to avoid paying for something that they are legally supposed to pay. For this reason, we aren't allowed to help anyone with this because we have no way of knowing who is doing it for the wrong reasons or not and we can't just take your word for it.
For all we know, you could be trying to activate a stolen device and we would never know any different.

I'll look into it a little more once I get off work. (10 mins, 20 mins to get home.)
This thread is going to get locked as changing the imei is illegal regardless...

What I am asking is to repair my IMEI
You have a lot of thread dealing with this in XDA
like here
MOD EDIT: removed link
Even if you only want to "restore" the IMEI, that are still instructions to change the IMEI which can be used for illegal activities.
Therefore: Thread closed.

[Q] Wrong IMEI

Didn't backup my efs folder...
I rooted my phone but everything was fine until it bricked
It bricked twice and I saved it twice but 3G is no longer working
Now, I can't make any call in UK (it says Mobile network is not available)
I realize that my IMEI is 004999010640000 but not a unique one
SIM card is working on other phones
I'm now on 2.3.6 stock rom, not rooted, zero count
1. Is IMEI causing this problem?
2. Is there anyway that I can repair IMEI by myself without losing the data of my phone?
3. If I bring this to Samsung, Is this phone still under warranty?
4. Is factory reset compulsory before bringing it to Samsung?
Thank you!
No way, you should take it Samsung service Center they will do it under warranty and your on stock ROM so not required to do Factory Reset, don't worry they will do it in 10 Min with out losing data.....

Your device does not support software updating via kies
Googled it but it seems like changing (KOR) to (TGY) and wiping all the data is the only method.
Is this caused by a wrong sales code/IMEI?
Should I just flash 4.0.4 on my own?

Even the act of changing it is illegal in most countries even if you're not planning to do something illegal
And currently there are no software based methods for changing IMEI on the explorer. Security on HTC's low-end devices are hard to break, while high-end devices can be easily broken
But how did you obtain a phone without IMEI?

Well it says nothing about IMEI in that post not even remotely.

Why are you questioning the people trying to help you?
Look either give it a try or deal with a borked imei.
The reason they are suggesting that is because unless you tried to install a vibrant rom all of the non stock based roms back up your imei and when flashing back to stock it is restored.
Again why are you questioning people offering help?

You will have better luck trying the link I posted :/ It fixed my IMEI about 15 times and I am have sent the link to many others to fix their problems. The link you posted will do you no good for two reasons. First, it is a guide about how to backup your IMEI which you already lost. (can't backup what you don't have) Second, the guide is for the Samsung Galaxy S III. If you do have a SGSIII, then you are in the wrong fourm and my link will screw your device over. If you have a Samsung Galaxy S 4G, then it will flash you back to GB rooted w/ CWM. If you are still secptic about my advice, then don't take it. Hope you enjoy a phone with no service.
Why r u ppl so jumpy?
"Enjoy phone with no service"
"Why r u questioning ppl who are trying to help"
All i try to do is to fix my imei and on the way im trying to understand whats going on.
The link you gave me was for deleting trash from my phone to save battery life (i personally thought that, maybe, you just copy pasted the wrong link), my IQ is well above average, but i guess im missing a connection between batter life trash files on the phone and recovering IMEI.
please enlighten me.
Flashing stock did not help .. and i have always been using the original Tmobile roms... downlaoded from Sampro.pl
Never anything custom.
thank you for your help.

It was the correct link, and it works. What do you have to lose? Absolutely nothing. I will take all the blame if it doesn't work, but in my experience it does work. I have no idea why it works, it just does. I just want you to have a happy working phone. Sadly, I have not been on a "stock" ROM since I joined xda, so I have no idea how to fix your problem and keep you on stock. Out of curiosity, what Android version are you on now?

Well if your main point from that link is to go back to stock (you have mentioned to go part 3, which is just that) then it doesnt work..
Coz i flashed to froyo 2.2.1 and it did not help only thing that changed was that opposed to 00000000/05 i had 000000000/04 ...
I have also wiped the cache
Then i have flashed the GingerBread 2.3.6 kj6.
Nothing changes .. Tmobile doesnt accept phones with "0" IMEI.
im sure its possible to write it in .. just cant find it...
thanks.
Have you actually tried it yet? Anyways, I am sorry about your phone, and I haven't seen a way to write in your IMEI in all of my time on xda.

Changing your IMEI is illegal and therefore cannot be discussed on XDA.
