Hey people, I hacked Soundcloud to work with Viper4Android.
Since Soundcloud uses its own built-in media player, V4A could not process its music. I fixed that!
I plan on updating this thread for every new stable release. Don't ask me to mod the beta versions. Enjoy:good:
Version: 2017.05.30-release
Easy Method (not recommended)
Use this modded soundcloud apk. Profit.
Warning: Offline playback does not process with V4A with this apk. I'm trying to fix this
Warning 2: If you use this method, streaming cache gets broken in Soundcloud. Which is why I recommend scrolling down just a tad more
...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
Since for some reason I only took one post when I made this thread, let's just act like post #2 starts here
Alternate (BETTER) Method
Soundcloud V4A processing can be fixed by modifying /system/ect/audio_policy.conf (HUGE thanks to @DKnightX91 for the tip)
Open your audio_policy.conf (each device's file is different, so for now there's no one fix all) and remove these lines:
Code:
low_latency {
AUDIO_DEVICE_OUT_EARPIECE|AUDIO_DEVICE_OUT_SPEAKER|AUDIO_DEVICE_OUT_WIRED_HEADSET|AUDIO_DEVICE_OUT_WIRED_HEADPHONE|AUDIO_DEVICE_OUT_ALL_SCO|AUDIO_DEVICE_OUT_AUX_DIGITAL
flags AUDIO_OUTPUT_FLAG_FAST }
*lines may vary based on device. Just remove everything between the 'low_latency' brackets
Then, you can use regular Soundcloud from the play store with V4A.
Edit: Newer roms don't seem to use the audio_policy.conf, so if you're unable to locate that file, I inquire that you refer to this post. It seems that deep_buffer causes issues with V4A and removing it properly can fix it.

Thanks for this, I don't really use Soundcloud but now this is here I might have to in the future

thanks for this, thread subscribed =) been wanting this for a while now

I have found a version of V4A 2.5.0.5 by guitardedhero which somehow works for me with default soundcloud.
Even on Nougat.
Tested it on bacon and hammerhead both same result

Awesome, tested here with my RR 5.7.4 and it worked like a charm, thank you
I use soundcloud too much. And will use even more now!

U are my hero I tried to get soundcloud to work with v4a for ages as i use it a lot (probably like the one above me xD)

Nice! Really nice! Just gonna try if navbar equalizer module works with it

Holy Crap, it works!!! Thank you soo much mate:laugh::good:

Same here, on op3 AOSiP.
While v4a does not work with any music app except oneplus music on Oxygen (based) op3 roms. Maybe this helps in that scenario.

On HTC 10 viper 5.4 all ok thank you

This is a post i created in a bacon rom thread.
First flash zip file from first link, then update the via zip installed v4a app with the apk in second link.
For me Soundcloud works with this setup on bacon and hammerhead both 7.1.1.
Remember to have Selinux on permissive to make V4A working at all.

Wait...This is a modded SoundCloud? How does this work?

Thanks so very much, now I have soundcloud working with Dolby Atmos ?
Great work.

OMG! Finally my Boomsound on HTC 10 working with SoundCloud... Thanks you.

Thanks so much!! This used to be my old method, which has since stopped working https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61697941&postcount=4
:good:

Still not working on Google Pixel 7.1.1. I don't understand why SoundCloud needs to use its own player. Xposed and SoundCloud not processing were some of the main reasons I didn't want to go to Nougat.

Works perfectly, but when you decide to download the music for SoundCloud Go, it stops processing and only processes what's streamed. Any chance you could look into this?

Unfortunately, only the "Original Holo" variant will work on Kitkat, none of the Material ones will work.
Besides, this is not a ROM

works on HTC one M7 with 5.0.2
Link the original thread please the dark version? I will ask the developer to create a version with pure black.

Works superbly in Cataclysm rom Nexus 5, thank you!
For me it is not working:
In Driver status it says: "Processing: No"
I just installed the apk and wanted to try some options. I am on N5 with Optipop and Uber L
does the apk method work on nexus 4 stock non-rooted?
@Viper4713 Not working for me on s5 MOAR 5.0
And if I change it to compatible mode I get fc on soundalive and it freezes up. Causing me to have to uninstall it and reinstall.
But no effect on any music playback

What music player are you guys using? Also remember Permissive mode is a must not optional, even after driver installation permissive mode is still needed for full use.
Thanks for this great theme.

Viper4android?

Is there anyway to get v4a working on nouget? I tired the method the the regular s7 forum but it didn't work.
Look for Viper4Android V2.3.4.0 here on XDA (the one that works without the Selinux permission and has a higher audio fidelity than the newer versions and has the better UI IMO) then flash that puppy. Check if it works and if not you have to Google "Viper4Android on nougat" and it will give you a bypass that has you erase a stock audio file that prevents Viper4Android from working. This wasn't the case for me since I didn't have that file. The version I speak of has Dolby audio; I erased that because it just added more static IMO. I had this with the dual audio mod for a while but it didn't seem to make a difference but add more static.
If this works for you, please update the main post with credit to those sources. If you also want some settings for some Fire Audiophile experience, please ask; I run heavy bass that doesn't drown out music and makes Beats sound way better.

What I did was start fresh and flash the stock modified bootloader and flashed the heavy Verizon debloater. Then I did the steps mentioned above, forgot to bring that up.

I used this guide
https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/how-to/guide-viper4android-nougat-beta-t3499117
I downloaded this V4A zip and installed the apk inside. I did not install the Nougat IO test fix because I didn't need to. Everything works fine
http://www.mediafire.com/file/xonl4jha2e4vez1/ViPER4Android_FX_v2505.zip
I don't remember what post I found this link on, but it was here on XDA.
I am running Jrkruse's BS Free nougat. I followed his instructions at the link below, the only thing I added was flashing the engineering kernel as the last item in FlashFire and than rerooted.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-s7-edge/development/rom-t3572739
I also have SE Linux Changer installed and have it set to Permissive.

I get the latest Magisk and installed Le Pro 3 within the manager. It runs fine first but then it force closes after some reboots and I can never get it to work again. What should I do?

I would try another version of it after removing the current one by booting to recovery and running the install script.
The one that worked best for me included both atmos 6.5 and viperx in one module, though I forget what it was named exactly within, magisk. You can find it by reading the descriptions if nothing else.

Is it a major difference in sound when using dolby? The sound in my u11 is ok from the speakers but it wasn't what i expected.
It really depends on how you are listening, what version you get working, and your subjective experience.
For me, using the version I described above, with a pair of Sony MR1BT (quite old now) there was a very significant positive difference. I could only get them to work through Bluetooth though.
I imagine that while using the speakers instead of headphones the positive change would be diminished significantly

you need a working Magisk on your phone
Easiest way: add this module from Magisk module "+" icon and locate the zip you downloaded.
And yes, stock galary player or any player should be able to playback since your 835 processor can do hevc work
I don't think it's works on OB1

I'm running Dirty Unicorns RC - 8.1, which is AOSP.
This was working fine with OOS OB1.
This isn't currently working with 8.1 custom AOSP ROM. I'm not sure if there's a way to get it to work.
I've linked the requested xml file if it helps. I tried attaching but file wouldn't upload to post.

FIX: Crackling static noise in headphones on Custom ROMs (Mido)

Listening to music on my Redmi Note 4 (mido), I noticed a loud crackling static noise when I use my headphones on Lineage and related ROMs like Pixel Experience. It's especially noticeable when a song starts to play. I didn't get this on MIUI.
so I decided to extract the MIUI mixer files (files that manage the audio), and the noises were solved in Custom Roms
DOWNLOAD: bit.ly/2OAlXDN
- Copy all .xml files to /vendor/etc and reboot
*Improvements in music quality (removing noise in Custom ROMs)
*Better call quality
*These files are from Redmi Note 4 (Mido)
Where is the file?

Gonna give it a try
I'm going to test this out because I noticed the cracking and bad sound quality over Bluetooth in Android Pie. But I would recommend creating a Magisk module for this so it can both installed and Uninstaller easily and so many others can test it. There is a Magisk tutorial that can help you create the module if you want to do it.
