I recently checked out some cables from Choetech of Amazon.
and to my surprise they preformed quite well and the C to A cable passes the test of compliance to the Type-C standard.
Great deal and much better than the cables and chargers that I got with my Nexus 6P( not sure why Google gives us a very short cable)
Either way I am happy with the cables and glad I was able to get them for review.
Thank you

So you're saying that this charger (AC adapter) does quick charge the 6p with a type C cable that is in spec? If it works as well as the adapter that came with the phone, I'm in!

not sure why you think this, type c is bidirectional. this will charge your nexus, or you can charge the bank with a type c adapter

Read the description. Everything there says input and no mention of output. Check the device photo itself, the type c port is marked as "in". Look at the bottom of the device. Input 1 which is the type C port is indicated as 5V 3A. It doesn't say anything that it outputs 5V 3A. And the last photo even only says input and nothing about output. I really do hope I'm wrong as this seems like the smallest type C Charger available.

Yup, agree completely. Nothing visible to show to control the direction of the USB C interface. And with the way the pictures are labeled and described as only as an input. USB C is bidirectional but you need access to control the flow of the charging.

It has Quick Charge 2.0 output and USB C input
That's to say, in my opinion, it can quick charge your old Nexus 6 or Sumsung S6... if you want to charge your Nexus 6P, you need to use a USB-A to USB-C cable for output...but of course, the charge speed with AC cable would reach 2.4A maximum.
The description says it comes with a USB-A to Type C charging cable, so it's still a good option because it supports Quick Charge 2.0 devices like Nexus 6 and can charge your Nexus 6P with the AC cable.
That would be great, as I planned to buy a longer cable for my Nexus 6p as the one provided is too short.

Back on topic with the OP...
Choetech sent me a 3 meter A-to-C cable to review. I loved it, and left this review on Amazon:
K. Eshed said:
This is a very sturdy, well built cable. I am using it with a Nexus 6P, which is only capable of USB 2.0 speeds, which this cable does deliver--even over such a long length. I confirmed that the cable does appear to be built to spec, reporting a 56KΩ pull-up resistor via adb and CheckR. No one should expect Nexus "Rapid Charging" from a to-spec A-to-C cable, and especially not from one that is nearly 10 feet long... That said, this cable works just fine for charging if you're not in a rush. It's perfect for a bedside charger where the nearest outlet is on the other side of the bed... When compared to the OEM A-to-C cable that came with my 6P using Ampere, I noticed about a 200mA drop in the charging capacity provided by this one--which again, is exactly what you should expect from a 3 meter (~10 foot) cable.

The quality of this cable is so good that I ordered a 2m and 0.5m C-to-C cable along with their Type-C charger linked in the OP. I will post here again with further reviews after I receive those...
hey guys
i had a nexus 6 and have a bunch of QC 2.0 chargers
now that i have a 6P, can i still use the wall adapters and plug in a full size usb to usb 3 cable into the wall adapter?
does the wattage of the adapter work? or should i look to buy a new one with a usb c port
thanks
It'll charge, but not at full speed since the 6p isn't QC certified. You'll have to get usb-c chargers that can deliver 5v/3a
whats the best charger i can get on amazon? not just cable
I use this one:
http://www.amazon.com/SONEic-Type-C-Charger-Devices-Included/dp/B017BVLLC6
It's identical OEM charger that shipped with the 6p/5x, just rebranded.
so thats the same price as https://store.google.com/product/usb_c_charger darn... nothing cheaper on amazon!
Awesome thank you. This is exactly what I was looking for. Because I didn't like the ones in the Google store. I wanted another of what it shipped with.

Nexus 6P original adapter charging vs. third-party chargers charging
Hi, here are some points for Nexus 6P charging and Quick Charge 2.0:
1. Nexus 6P doesn't support Quick Charge 2.0/3.0, but its original adapter supports 5V/3A charging, actually the speed is even faster than Quick Charge 2.0 18W maximum power (6P original adapter charging efficiency is better than Quick Charge 2.0)
2. Mainstream Quick Charge 2.0 port is USB-A port, you can use a USB-A to USB-C cable to charge your Nexus 6P. But be sure to use the qualified cable, you should choose the USB-A to USB-C cable with 56K Rp, about how to choose type-c cable, you can refer to Google engineer Benson, he reviewed nearly all the type-c cables on market, see https://plus.google.com/+BensonLeung
3. Original Nexus 6P original adapter is with female Type-C port and a type-c to type-c cable, so you'd choose similar format third-party chargers. I found some female type-c charger adapter is also with Quick Charge 3.0.
4. Here there is a Nexus 6P charging analysis http://www.tronsmart.com/nexus-6p-charging-analysis by Tronsmart, although it seems an ads by Tronsmart, it offer some important info about Nexus 6P charging, maybe it is useful for you.
That is what I know, any question or opinion, let's discuss.

You happen to know if there is an EU plug available for this charger? I can't seem to find anything other than US plug.
I use this Anker multi port charger, it has a native USB C port, plus 4 regular USB ports. With a total of 40W, I can charge a lot of things at the same time, and it's the best solution for travel. The cable is detachable, so you should be able to find a European AC cable for it

Has someone gathered some experience with Mi5 compatible chargers supporting Quick Charge 3.0?
The original chinese charger that came with the 128GB Mi5 version actually has a QC 3 symbol on the back - while I read it supports just 2.0.
My 'dream' charger should have easy switchable power plugs so it can be easily adjusted to the country's power sockets you're staying in. I remember my old HTC phone once came with 3 different, interchangeable plugs out of the box!
I bought this and works perfectly http://goo.gl/vasfAw
You can also use the Aukey Quick Charge 3.0 products.
I got one for my Mi 5 and its full compatible, shows also quick charge when plugged in.
Is there any significance difference b/w stock xiaomi charger?

I'm using the AuKey Quick Charge 3.0 with 2 Ports and a "good" USB A 3.0 highspeed cable with 56k resistor.
If the display is off and you wake it up while its on charger, on the bottom you can see a notice if its quick or slow charging.

I guess am using the same charger you mentioned (w/ 2 orange usb type a ports) in combination with the stock usb type a to c cable which was shipped with my MI5. The cable the charger came with was of little use as it is was not a type c cable :/
this notification you are talking of however.. how does it look like? atm I have no clue what I should be looking for to be honest
(I also tried an Anker QC 3.0 charger - performance-wise it was a lot worse than the Aukey charger and therefore went right back to Amazon)
I went for the Tronsmart qc3 for both car and regular. Good quality, just make sure you buy a decent cable along.

I think the stock charger isn't a QC 3.0 charger. (And neither is the cable IMO.)
But I am not sure, and not bothered to test. :cyclops:
To those who replied here with tronsmart or aukey QC3 chargers, does it come with a USB type C cable? I cannot find any info about this in google alone. TIA, cheers.
My aukey QC3 charger from amazon Germany came without any cable. I am therefore currently using the stock USB type C cable. I am however not sure whether that cable is 100% compliant and to be honest quite annoyed by all that controversy around the type C standard and QC3 and the incompatibility between both -.-

An Aukey is on the way to me with the cable included.
I earlier suggested the BlitzWolf, but BlitzWolf is not really certified for QC3.
This is a list with QC3 charger: https://www.qualcomm.com/documents/quick-charge-device-list

Does anyone have a recommendation for a compliant compact USB C car charger? The addition of QC 3.0 would be a nice feature as well, but it isn't mandatory. Thanks for your time!

I think I'll go with the Aukey one, that looks really nice. Anyone know of any good 1ft C to C cables? Amazon doesn't seem to have many 1FT sized ones.
Choetech makes good cables and has a 1' one. They also sell a nice, compact charger with both a type C and a qc3 port
Can't post link, but the Blitzwolf model is what I've used with my 6p the past year and I highly recommend. Built-in cable with a second port for another device. Go to Amazon and search for: BlitzWolf 27W 5V/3A Type-C Port Attached Cable + 5V/2.4A USB Quick Charger
Blitzwolf is good, and likely the same as what weisguy linked to. It's sold under many brands, I think aukey or Anker or one of the bigger brands has it too
I have this one and I really love it. Small, but good, and approved by Benson Leung.

Wireless charging
Well, I double checked the spec's on Aliexpress and it does say wireless charging:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Glo...528.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.2c854c4dtlxg5S
So either there are a couple of variants of this phone or (much more likely) the description is wrong.

If you look on the photos on the Xiaomi charger description, there's a clear photo of the specs printed on the charger, which show that it goes to 27W. Whether that's what is delivered is a different matter.
I looked at the BaseUs chargers, knowing they are a more reputable brand on AliExpress, but thought I'd go with the gamble of the cheaper brand, as it had decent reviews.

yeah that seems like a decent charger don't forget you have to use the USB C port to get the QC 4.0 27w speed, the other USB port only does quick charge 3.0, also don't select the dual USB port one either as both only do QC 3.0.
i wanted an AU plug so i ordered this one BlitzWolf BW-S12 27W QC4+ , will report back once i get it.
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/494610 , good price with the discount code, but the code will only work if you order from desktop browser.
only issue now is i guess i need a USB C to USB C 5A cable, as the cable that comes with the original charger in the box with phone is just standard USB to USB C, i do have an OTA adapter to usb C though so i might just try the cable i already have with adapter before i rush out to buy another cable.
