Issue when trying to flash Lineage OS on OnePlus One - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm trying to flash a new build of Lineage OS on my OnePlus One, but upon flashing the ROM in TWRP I get the error "Error exectuing updater binary in zip sdcard".
I'm currently running CM13 on Android version 6.0.1, however it's a pretty old build since I flashed this in February 2016 and never bothered to update..
The process of what I did was, I backed up my current ROM, I wiped system, dalvik and normal cache.
The exact error is:
Code:
"Can't install this package on top of incompatible data.
Please try another package or run a factory rset.
E: Error executing updater binary in zip '/sdcard/lineage-14.1-20170206-nightly-bacon-signed.zip'
Error flashing zip '/sdcard/lineage-14.1-20170206-nightly-bacon-signed.zip'"
Help would be appreciated!

Since you have nothing to lose flash the stock COS 13.1 ROM from fastboot.
Then flash TWRP from fastboot and make sure it's the last version. Also download again the zip of Lineage to be sure it's not corrupted.
I'm currently running on that ROM, very stable and enjoyable like a COS stock N ROM.

Make sure zip isn't corrupted.
And don't forget to do wipe data/factory reset next time.

Guys, I have recently installed lineage OS, rooted and installed adaway. Yet I am getting annoying ads on my caller! I installed google caller, disabled default caller, yet I am getting ads on google dialler, whenever I get incoming calls. What the hell? Anyone facing this problem? Can anyone help?

It might be some app you have installed
Because I don't get any ads in the dailer

It might be some 3rd party apps that you probably gave root permission. can you provide a screen shot of your supersu front page?

Uninstall AdBlockPlus and Root checker. Then try rebooting your device. If the ads are still there try wiping your cache.
Adaway alone will give you best experience.

I think it's because you are using a third party dialer. Use google dialer. It is clean, simple and won't show ads.

I am not using a third party dialer/caller. The stock version also showed ads and google version did too. Now that I uninstalled an app, I am not getting ads on the caller

You mean when trying to install an app** yes?
Edit : meant app, not ROM. My apologies.

no, I haven't flashed any rom on N5 since day 1, it just randomly popped up. I suspect it's caused by a misbehaving app, but can't figure out which...

Sorry I meant app...
If any case..
1. There's a problem with the app
2. You should wipe dalvik and cache if possible.
3. If options 1 and 2 aren't viable try clearing data and cache of all applications and that should do it.

nexus unroots when i update

hello everyone, i have a nexus five running cyanogenmod 12.1 and 20150529-nightly-hammerhead android version 5.1.1 with TWrp v2.8.6.1
as of yesterday i had it finding the updates for nightlies everyday. and i was updating it when i would download them. and i found that everytime i would update id lose the root. i tested this the following day. rerooting with the nexus root toolkit, then updating and found i had no root. so i rerooted and havent updated again. is there a reason why it would unroot? thanks in advanced guys!!!
1) Delete the Nexus toolkit, don't ever use it again.
2) Flash the most recent nightly.
3) Go to settings ---> developer options and enable root access.
4) Optional: download SuperSU from the Play Store.
Why is nexus tool kit bad? So should I flash nightly first then enable root or enable then flash? Its giving me apps only, adb only and then allow for both. What do I choose?

For one thing, CM isn't meant to be rooted, root access is implemented via Privacy Guard, so whatever changes NRT made are erased every time you flash the ROM.
reroot...
Rerooting wasn't done with nexus tool kit. Initially yes, for the first time. I rerouted, or atleast thought I rerooted via twrp. I guess I was wrong. But either you helped me solve the issue and I really appreciate it.
I have a different one...the one that helped me figure I wasn't rooted. Google play store keeps crashing. Giving me that error "unfortunately, google play store has stopped" what could be causing this. I've rebooted, cleared cache, cleared data, force stopped and still. I've reinstalled the gapps..and still. Any ideas? Thank you such!!
Anyone????

Which Gapps package are you using? From what I gather, some Gapps packages don't play well with CM 12.1. Try this Gapps package, it's CM official.

I have a Oneplus 1 running CM11 44s Kitkat 4.4.4

I have to goto Safe Mode and unistall app to recover phone.

Basically, I am unable to install anything at all! All these were running fine before, now dont understand whats wrong!
I cleaned whole phone, formatted all with fastboot and reinstalled CM11, but the problem remains.

Yeah I could do that, but I would like to understand whats going wrong in present case, I have had flashed CM11 many times since past 4 yrs but never faced such an issue.
I even installed TWRP and SuperSU latest version and also Old versions, I tried installing old versions of apps, but phone keeps crashing! Wonder whats wrong?!
Is this a firmware issue?(Tried flashing firmwares too)
or Partitions gone bad?
I tried searching but couldnt find any resource on how to recreate partitions.
Can anyone help please?

Wait, what if you flash cm11? I mean you just wanna stay on KitKat,so why don't cm11?
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347767866
Clean flash this cm11 nightly+gapps you like.
Make sure you use latest twrp.
Same issue here. Happens not to all apps though. Just particular ones after updating certain apps. Not sure what happened. Only solution is to avoid installing those kind of apps.

'Unfortunately, that is unavailable with this device' - Assistant

Hey all,
Over the last few months, I haven't been able to get Google assistant to make phone calls or send text messages. All other functions work.
When I say, 'call my wife', or 'send text message to wife', it tells me that function is unavailable.
It used to work flawlessly.
I have changed nothing to cause it. I just woke up one morning and it didn't work.
So far I have tried:
-Factory reset
-clear cache, etc
-Magisk hide on assistant app, call manager, Google play services and google text to speech
I am on latest stable Oos with latest XxX Rom.
The issue started around 3 months ago.
Where should i be looking to fix this?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Does anyone know of any other forums I can post this question? I can't post in the OnePlus forums yet because of new member restrictions. I'm just trying to get more coverage for my issue so that I can get help solving it.
Do you know what day this happened?

Not sure but that happened to me too but here's what i did
1. Boot into twrp
2. Wipe system, vendor and cache no need to wipe data unless you don't care losing your files DO NOT REBOOT
3. Flash latest oos either 9.0.9 or beta Q is up to you DO NOT REBOOT
4. Flash twrp REBOOT
You'll all set if you need root just flash magisk
Let me know if it worked for you

I did all this on Sunday hoping that it would fix the issue. It hasn't.
Additional info: I have also just discovered that if I open the assistant app and type in 'call.........' or 'message........' , it says there is no app installed to perform that function.

Don't think this will be useful, this is an Assistant issue, reflashing the ROM probably won't help.

Can you check in the settings, under Apps, and Default Apps, if you correctly have a Phone app and an SMS app set as default ? Or maybe the Google App does not have the permissions it needs (Phone Calls and SMS permissions), you could also check that. This is probably a little thing like this, it's 99% sure it's an app or configuration issue.
Both apps are set as default and all apps have all permissions ticked.
I too have the issue and have tried several things with no luck.
I've also been experiencing this. It's been pretty frustrating when trying to use the assistant with android auto.
What ROM are you guys running? I wonder if there is any similarities between our devices.

OB4 - com.android.phone keeps stopping?

Anyone else met with this issue with the latest beta? I keep getting this error, none of my SIMs work and trying to go into settings-SIM&Network crashes settings.
I used to have Google dialer framework (Magisk) and Google Phone installed, removed them but the problem persists... Cleared Phone's data, set the OP phone as default app, nothing works - I can't receive or make calls, and the OP dialer just gives me a black screen.
Any ideas?
Can I go back to OB3 without wiping everything?
[EDIT] ahhh local upgrade won't let me downgrade...

I'm on latest beta 4 using a IN2025 OP8Pro. I used the full ROM not the incremental update to upgrade from OB3. I am rooted also. No issues you are experiencing. Sounds like you need to flash the full ROM from fastboot mode and complete wipe for a clean install and start from there.
./
Thanks for the input. How big is the partial update? Because the one I flashed was almost 3GB...
So, no real way to downgrade to OB3 again?
3gb is full ROM not the incremental update.
So that's not the explanation then... I wonder if factory resetting will fix the problem?
Any ideas anyone?
