I got a new case for my phone and it blocks a tiny portion of the notification bar, which can make pulling it down a bit of a chore. Wondering if there are any options out there to deal with this. Thanks.
Is your phone rooted? If not, then no way. With root, you may have options, depending on ROM, etc.

Dunno. You can google it.
If you have root and install Xposed, this Xposed module may work according to description:

My tablet auto downloaded the update and now I'm stuck with the nag to install it, is there a way to block the notification for the update without root?
If it works the same way as on the S5, then no.
Have you tried longpressing the notification > app info? And then hitting Disable?

I long pressed the notification, force stopped, cleared data and cache. No more notification shown but we will see if or how long until it comes back. Thank you.
On my Tab4 I can not click on any of the buttons to stop it - they are all grayed out. How can I make the buttons active?

OMG I went crazy with that notification till I found an app called package disabler. It costs 2 or 4 bucks but it's amazing. U can disable anything without root, including the Ota and notification nonsence. It's worth the money
Really irritated by the fact that my S7 switches screen mode for games and certain apps - does anyone know how to turn it off? I don't have game mode or game launcher enabled, yet it still changes for some reason. Hate anything but the basic screen mode.
I do not think you can without root access.
Wondering about this too. Was all excited to use my new phone, everything was going well until I started up some games and noticed all the colors were really saturated... Turned off Game Launcher, changed screen modes in settings, nothing works. When you go back to the home screen from the game you can see the screen tone visibly get lighter and then darker when you go back into the game.
It drives me nuts too, spent too much time in settings to figure it out, with no results... Let's hope it will be fixed soon : Samsung should let us choose the color profile during games.
So it's not just me lol
Same problem here, seriously wtf! The colors are way oversaturated and too much contrast. The game is very dark. It drives me completely nuts, why dont they simply draw the stuff on screen and be done with it? Nobody in the whole world ever needed Cinema mode or sh*#[email protected] like this!
The only way to turn this annoying so-called feature OFF is by installing package Disabler pro and check both 'game service' and 'gamepad service'. You can also disable the game launcher and tools. Hope this helps!

great find! looks like it also improved performance in some of the titles too.
however, some games still perform rather strange. Smash Hit, for example, has constantly changing frame rate. N4S No Limits seems to be running at the wrong resolution/less detailed compared to S6, etc.
probably need some optimization for SD820 but i doubt any of the older games will get any updates just for that.

That a problem with sammy 6.0.1, AB2 and tekken for me lags beyond what possible, after short amount of time. on mine Note 5 i observed the same thing in android 6.0.1, but NOT in lollipop all was perfect there...
Sammy updated Korean variant with new fixes, hopefully we get it soon enough,
Well I got rid of the adaptve saturated colors on the games I play and a big thank you! I was almost ready to exchange/return my Edge.
When I attempt to run Package Disabler Pro, it brings up a Knox terms page that it I have to agree to.. does that activate Knox? I don't want to activate it..

Go to settings > smart manager > secure
It will say if knox is installed or give you the option to install it.

Yeah but when you have auto brightness off the screen still doesn't stay on maximum brightness. The s6 and s6 edge had this same issue and I see they carried it over onto the s7 edge lol... anyone have a non-rootable fix?
I'm on my 3rd edge phone now.I had 2 regular and 1 edge+
Was going to upgrade to s7 edge but it seems that they still have brightness issue when on manual?
It's such an annoying issue with all edge models.
I really want to root once a secure way is out... will installing Knox be a problem with that on the future?

I don't yet know if this has truly fixed the issue I've been having and I know a few others have but it's definitely improved things a lot! If you have had the issue where your notification shade lags and/or your app switcher lags please try this and report back.
Go to App Manager -> Overflow button (3 dots top right corner) -> Special Access -> Draw over other apps
Now UNCHECK everything here.
Reboot.
Any apps that require this permission will complain and you can enable it for just those apps. My phone had this enabled for basically every app in there which seemed odd. Since I did this my phone has been very smooth for over 24 hours and my battery life has been way better too.
Again no guarantees since the issue might still happen but this has helped me more than anything else I've tried.

Seriously thanks for finding this. It made a huge difference with my verizon s8+.
It was flying before but man this little tidbit of yours put my phone into turbo mode. Good job!
Feels like this definitely helped! Will continue testing throughout the day. Did you disable overlay for system apps as well?

So, just for information sharing purposes: I gave this a shot on Friday, and I can definitely tell a difference. I disabled all, and have only had 1 application (Textra) actually request the permission back. No impact to functionality so far as I can tell, as of right now.
Problem: SOLVED!
What fixed the problem for me was disabling the app using Accessibility services, which was bxActions.
Head to Settings -> Accessibilty and disable whatever app there and voila!
I think this helps here, I have to check if the lag continues
in my case, I don't have an S8 but this same problem, lets see if the shade and quick settings still get lagged out... but thanks!
I have a Galaxy S7 (SM-G930T) NOT rooted, and I recently received the Oreo update OTA but HAVE NOT installed Oreo. I don't want this update (mostly because reports indicate that Oreo on the S7 is buggy, drains battery, may possibly brick my phone, and it needlessly changes things). So... I want to know how to remove the persistent notification that is currently on my lock screen, my status bar, and the System icon. I just want my phone to be the way it was before this buggy software was pushed to me against my wishes (even tho I ABSOLUTELY set the phone to MANUAL updates).. How do I remove the persistent notification?
Addendum... I tried Package Disabler Pro +, and it doesn't work on my phone. When I e-mailed the developer, I received the cryptic reply... "Samsung keeps blacklisting package disabler apps on Samsung Android. So Package Disabler Pro + is now available." Which is a nonsensical reply since Package Disabler Pro + is the software I installed and which wouldn't work.
To recap... My phone is still on Nougat! I want it that way. How do I remove the persistent notifications re Oreo?
Thanks in advance for your advice and thoughts.

Unfortunately, neither file can be found anywhere on my phone. Btw... I'm NOT rooted.. And (as I mentioned above) I tried Package Disabler Pro +, and it doesn't work on my phone. And now the issue is moot since my phone updated itself in spite of my efforts. And I have a set of new issues with system slowdown and battery drain.

UPDATE: Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to try your solution. My phone updated itself when I inadvertently didn’t put it to sleep properly, the install screen popped up unexpectedly (apparently in my pocket), and somewhere in the jostling the install button was pressed. This shouldn’t happen. If I buy a red car, the dealer or manufacturer shouldn’t be able to turn it blue a year later without my consent. I shouldn’t be required to press a button every time I start the car to keep the car red. Ditto my phone. It’s simply wrong,
In any case, I now have Oreo, and am immediately experiencing all the problems that I was trying to avoid. The phone is about 10 percent slower, and it eats power about 15 percent faster than before. Additionally, all the Google icons now have ugly white borders. My QuickPic app has pink/magenta headings that I can’t change. And there are more problems that I won’t mention. This is a performance downgrade inflicted upon me from an outside corporation. It shouldn’t be legally allowed on a DEVICE I OWN!
Hi, I just finish the Note 20 Ultra configuration, but there are some shadows zones....
Sorry for the lenght of the message, but I really don't know where I can ask these questions and I know here is the best place to do it.
First of all, the S-Pen.
I'm used to Samsung's Note line. My last Smartphone was a Note 9, and all worked perfectly.
This time, with the S-pen, I wanted to do things such as write an express note when the screen is off. I can't . I tested all the settings, unfortunately I only managed to get the express note screen once. Since then, aod or not, when I remove the s-pen, nothing happens. Same thing, when I press on the s-pen button and try to 'touch' 2 times the screen, I see the "Create a note" button, but same : nothing happens when I touch it.
Even with all the settings activated/deactivated, all I tried, nothing happens.
LED notifications and apps that do't work correctly
I was affraid to see that this phone don't have a LED for the notifications, at least, not natively.
I tried 2 or 3 apps, especially aodNotify, but none worked correctly. I found one that is almost ok, "LED Me Know", but I wish I use the aodNotify app. Don't know why it doesn't want to work with me.
Third thing : Good Lock and change side of the clock on the status bar.
May be it's because I'm in France, but this app is not on the Galaxy store, and when I download it manually and install it, it tells me "Sorry, we encountered a server or network error..."... And I can't use it. At all.
Is it a region thing ? Or may be an Exynos thing ?
I also wanted to root the phone : impossible for know apparently, same for any Theme making app lile #Hex_ or #Hexed_...
I can't even replace the clock in the right side like I always do.
I had a custom rom on my Note 9 (Ultimate Rom), and I could do it simply.
Now, the only method that seems working is using Good Lock, then download 'Quick Star panel' (something like that) and change the side of the clock. Cannot do. ?
I hope all my little issues are just due to the fact that Android 10 and this phone are brand new, and we just have to wait a bit to do all these things, to root it simply, install Custom roms etc etc are easy to do....
Otherwise I'm the one who has a big problem...
Ok. Basically, thank you for reading my novel ?
I hope someone would have the courage to help me or reassure me on these few things....
Thank you, take care, bye
