[Q] How To Stop Moto G Updating To Kit Kat

New srock Moto G Stock not rooted. Initially I was only using WiFi and I was getting update notifications for Kit Kat which I was able to delay. Subsequently I have aded a sim card and service and now it shows update is currently being downloaded. How do I stop Kit Kat from being installed? If there is no way to abort the update will I be asked if I want to install once the update is finished? TIA.

yah... nothing wrong wif kitkat.. ablity to upgrd to kitkat is the main reason i buy this phone... user experience on kitkat 10* better than JB..
but if u realy dint want the kitkat u always cn reinstall JB stock firmware n ur r on corect place just search for guide here under q&a section

be careful as with other Motorolas happened downgrade can brick your device (ex Motorola razr I)

Once the update is downloaded you'll be asked whether you want to install it. Unless you root your only options is to delay the installation by 24 hours.

If rooted you can freeze the ota app with titanium backup.

Tell Google that, not us.

it's annoying for the system to be asking everytime if i want to update, it even says i dont have enough space to update and keeps asking. I heard of stopping motorola ota will solve the problem, untill now it has.

They will stop pushing the update in a few days ..Then maybe the notifications would stop popping up
Other than that...you will hv t root

I, like you, wanted to stop kitkat from updating over the air from ATT so I called them, they said there was nothing they could do, but to call Samsung. I called Samsung, they said there was nothing they could do, call Google.
Well, I didnt call Google, but I did find a work around, and that consists of clearing the android cache, and now I am not being nagged to update on a wifi connection by ATT. Actually, I am not being nagged at all at this point.
Here are the instructions for clearing the Android Cache: (as told by a Samsung Employee)
Zabrina: Please follow these steps:
Zabrina: 1.Power the device off (remove and re-insert the battery).
Zabrina: 2.Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
Zabrina: 3.When the first boot screen displays; release only the Power key.
Zabrina: 4.When the Android system recovery menu displays; release the Volume Up and the Home key.
Zabrina: 5.Navigate with the Volume keys to the wipe cache and press the Power key to select.

Instructions
-Install Twrp (Info - Download Latest) Using Odin. Select not to reboot and remove your battery when finished. Insert battery holding VolumeUP+home+Power. This will get you into TWRP
-Reboot to Recover
-Flash kernel throught TWRP
-Clear Darvik/Cache throught TWRP
-Install SU beta 2.71
-Reboot and wait some minutes... If phone does not start in 20 minutes then restart and wait again.
-boot system and remove with titanium backup anything that has to do with Knox and security log....

Sorry but I do not understand exactly what you want to do... Are you already to 6.0.1 or 5.1.1 .... This kernel only works with 6.0.1 and must be flashed from TWRP.... Also you will need to root it afterwards using the link in first page..

If so then the main idea is that you will have to flash my kernel and then su chainfire 2.71 from recovery..

There is a very old Samsung incallui apk... Can you update it from Superman 2.9.0, please?

You can try to manual install the incallui apk from the zip. Other files give phone fc errors
Make backup of your current and change it with the one from the zip after you unzip it
I use a moded black version in superman 2.9 from saxena1 without problem.

Finally a Stock deodexed rom based on MSTLA firmware (DEC update) 6.0.1 MM (Single & Dual)
And 7 Nougat based on RETBR (dual or single sim) Deodexed and prerooted with SuperSu 2.79
I have flashed all these rom's on my single sim MZP and everything works.
These roms are compatible with all MZP's

My laptop died (may it RIP) last week so I bought a new machine, unfortunately Linux wont install correctly, so I'm using Ubuntu in a virtualbox environment.
This has caused me to stop building from source, yes I did build 2 roms but no I can not share them.
I finally figured out why deodexing our Nougat rom would either not boot or certain apps would fc.
it took 4 flashes to finally put a deodex Nougat rom together, it's smaller in size and runs smooth, I don't believe in mod's or placebo effect modifications, so it's bare bones stock

I would think any dual sim firmware package would work but do you or anyone else know of another dual sim firmware package that's more up to date?

It's the same for my firmware. Actually have another stock rom from the november security update but substratum themes seems to break the systemui.
Security updates aren't a big deal for me.
I'm building a dual sim rom now looks like it's from Oct.

Hello on the subtratum it has to be compatible with stock rom I carry swirt dark in my stock reteu patch december and it works perfectly, others not because they are not compatible with stock.

Updated Single sim to Nov security update, if you already flashed the original Rogers rom, you can bye all means dirty flash.

UPDATE DEC SECURITY UPDATE MSTLA Firmware see op.
Seems as though the MSTLA firmware could be dual sim? I have a single sim device which booted fine with that firmware, just wondering if anyone with a dual sim MZP can flash the MSTLA rom and confirm dual sim works.
I would rather pick one firmware package that works on both single and dual.

This file doesn't work on batman v1.2 rom because is only 12MB. Your other half version is 35MB and working. Can you check this full version also to be 35MB and working also?

Try this (tested on G5 and newer FW, another version for older FW, all for exynos based model) - so, do backup.

Well that was silly. Always, always, always, make a back up. if your rooted reflash the rom you're using. well that's if you made a back up of that . if your not rooted then reflash using odin.. if I have time when I get in from work I will extract a copy of the system u.i for you and upload it to my google drive
