Hello I want to root my OnePlus 3 that's running the latest version of OxygenOS 4.0.2 and Noagut. I want to be able to keep this latest updates and have root of that's possible. Could you send me the like to the TWRP and the steps on how to root it. My bootloader is unlocked and I couldn't install TWRP from the site when it tells you how to do everything. It kept going black after I tried to install Recovery.img. Please get back to me ASAP. Thanks.

Warning: This is probably gonna be a long post and may have typos.
Now, let's cut to the chase.
I'm currently on my Mate 8 emui.4, I had my phone rooted a while ago with TWRP and SuperSu. After rooting, I had the nougat update and I updated without knowing that it would remove TWRP and my root access. That was not the only problem! I couldn't switch on my Bluetooth. Also I lost the update option from the about phone location. I tried searching it in the search bar and clicking on the update button but, nothing would open up. And.. Yes, it was an official update. I tried to root it with the usual method but, it got me into a bootloop. I tried most TWRP versions but, it didn't seem to work! Either there would be no recovery (just a Black screen with some text) or the options inside the TWRP recovery wouldn't work. So I rerolled back to Mate 8 marshmellow. Now I don't have root, no TWRP or unlocked bootloader. So my question is if I should root my current phone version of emui.4 and be satisfied by it by unlocking bootloader now and rooting it, or update my phone to Mate 8 nougat again? If you're suggesting I update to nougat please provide me with ALL the necessary files and please guide me through. And provide be with the information on what to do in the worst case scenario too.. Please . :crying:
Anyone?
hey guys im very new to the forums, i have been searching for root for the Honor 6x on android 7.0 but had no luck finding anyone that could. and im sure a lot of people in xda wants to root their 6x well i have some news for you! i have succesfully rooted my honor 6x by dumping the boot.img that i got from the update.app from the OTA update people say you can't install OTA updates with twrp as recovery but that's exactly what I did and how I got the boot.img and patched it with magisk.
i would upload the patched boot.img but XDA wont let new users upload outside the forums. :/ PM me and I'll try sending links or someone big enough to upload my links for everyone to use .
Bro there are guides all over this sub forum on how to root on 7.0 and emui 5.0....matter of fact right here specifically the one I used.

***Warning to anyone looking to root don't use any files from this person....this is BS and I wouldn't trust a boot.img, flashable zip or any files really from a person advertising said files with their very FIRST POST!!!***

I understand your concern and I am new but that does not mean I'm trying to brick someone's device and flashing twrp on emui 5.0 on the honor 6x did not work for the U.S variant as it stays on the screen "your device is booting..." I had uploaded a how to on my second post.

I apologize and have edited my post. You have to admit its pretty suspect for someone to come to a forum where there are already step by step guides on how to root EMUI 4.1 and 5.0 respectively and say on their first post ever, "since there is no way to root I found my own way, and oh hey by the way heres my patched boot image message me for the files."
Wonder why yours got stuck on booting were you using the TWRP off the official site? Ive rooted my phone 3 or so times in this last month on EMUI 5.0 and never had a hiccup.

I did use the official twrp and while I was looking for root other users of the U.S variant were talking about how they were getting stuck on the same screen. Since it happened to me and other users of the same variant I assumed it was everyone. But I do wanna upload the magisk patched boot.img for the people who are having the problems that's all. This account is new yes but I have used XDA for 4 years I made a account this year to try to help. Yes does seems suspicious but so does installing a Chinese app for twrp.

If your device is rooted or if you have TWRP installed, you can't apply the update via OTA
If you want to update via OTA, you will have to unroot your device and undo any changes that you made to the system partition and you will have to replace TWRP with a copy of your stock recovery. Then you can apply the update. You will have to root and install TWRP again after the update is applied.
Or, you can manually download the update from the internet and then use a PC to manually flash via your device's compatible flashtool or via fastboot(whichever is intended to flash firmware on your device).

I already tried what you suggest but to no avail!

Good Morning Everyone,
@Droidriven, thanks for your kind response, but I did what you suggest, re-install Nougat Rom from Htc official link deliberately did not root it at first, click on the OTA & yet, got same complain.
I even tried 2.41.401.41--3.16.401.2_S-On_firmware.zip with it but doesn't still work.
But from my research, this is what I found out that works..
* The Phone (HTC 10) is Hong Kong Unlocked Version with build number 2.41.401.4, [email protected] as its base band.
the ROM that will work must share same details with the one provided above.
Anyone that has Oreo 8.0 (2.41.401.4) Update in RUU file format, should Please kindly share its download link with me, I regret the inconveniences, thanks in advance.

Hi
Oneplus released a new update I think yesterday. I installed it and of course afterwards I wanted my root access back. So I went into TWRP and flashed the Magisk 20..4 zip-File. Then when I started it and got the following error-message:
Code:
Attempted to kill init! exitcode=0x00000100.
So now I have 2 Questions.
1. How can I unbrick my phone? Edit: Already unbricked
2. What would be a viable way to reflash magisk on the new OS-version?
Hmm that's weird as I am back on 10.5.7 and also flashed magisk however nil drama that you speak of.
Well I think my update was on 10.5.6 maybe. Did you do everything the same way as I did? Same versions and all?
Edit: I just did an update and the latest version that's shown to me is 10.5.6. Can I download 10.5.7 from somewhere directly for the EU version?
Edit: The rollout for the EU-version of 19.5.7 will be soon, guess I'll just wait for it and then I root it again
how u unbricked please tell me
Hey everyone, I've been trying to search for a solution to rooting my OP7 from T-Mobile and I think I have hit a dead end so I went ahead and created this post to ask for some advice.
So backstory: I have a business account with T-Mobile and they allow me to unlock my phone with little to no hassle at all, I unlocked my T-Mobile phone, and my OP7 got updated to Android 11 over night that I didn't realize it happened my current build is: Oxygen OS 11.0.1.1.GM31CB and my model is GM1915.
Okay so I am following this guide: https://www.xda-developers.com/unlock-bootloader-root-oneplus-7-pro/
I have followed through with Step 1, unlocking my OEM, and Step 2, unlocking my bootloader. So for step 3, the guide says to flash TWRP and from what I've read there is no TWRP that works for Android 11 right now so I am not sure if I can do that. Then step 4 is to flash Magisk after booting to recovery, but I am not sure if I can actually do that with TWRP?
So the question I got is how do I go about rooting my OP7? Can I root without TWRP? The guides video also said I needed a bin file of the current OS but there seems to be none available for GM31CB. Curious where I go from here. Can I roll back to Android 10? Do I need to switch over to the international version? and if I did would I be able to downgrade back to Android 10?
Thanks in advance.
Edit 1: I just converted to the international version and will be rooting that way.
was just about to answer you...hope u got it working the international way...i have twrp working...u must flash a zip to decrypt your internal...search or hit me later...i can email it to you or something...and if possible...next time you update to A11 Tmobile can you save it?....can't find it anywhere online...
That guide is pretty outdated I feel like. If you have you phone unlocked through T-Mobile you can simply follow this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...unlock-twrp-root-and-update.3940368/#poststop
It's the one I followed to get my phone rooted + twrp installed.
I am in the same boat, T-mobile decided to push android 11 and rebooted. Android 11 is running fine with all my data intact but i have lost root and recovery. Trying to figure out easiest way to regain root, not worried about TWRP at the moment. Seems like patching the boot.img with magisk is the way to go but I cannot find a download from T-mobile for the full update to extract the payload.bin and boot.img. Is the payload.bin accessible using a file manager on the phone to copy to sdcard then transfer to PC? If not looks like waiting for some workaround or formatting data and starting from scratch
OOO just saw OPs edit, looks like i might be switching over to international firmware too and going that route. Did not plan on doing this today.
