Cannot move files from Windows 10 to S7 SD Card. - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

I've installed this rom: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...-android-nougat-7-0-beta-3-zpkk-odex-t3507499
Everything goes fine. Plug in my USB, phone is detected, SD is detected. Phone gives me the options it should for using the USB connection.
I go to Windows Explorer, open a window for the phone's SD card and one for the directory I wish to move files from...drag and drop...windows error sound with no files being moved and no error message.
Same thing with cut and paste. Yet, I can manipulate files on the SD Card with Windows Explorer, including creating directories. I've disabled AV and all other culprits I can imagine.
Does anyone have advice? Using SendAnywhere is ok, but I prefer the direct USB connection for moving large files.

[Q] Internal Memory Card issues

Okay, I'm sorry if this should be in another forum, but I figured the minds in develpoment would have a better answer.
I have a G Tablet, running TnT lite 2.0.0 + 2.0.3 Sup, Launcher Pro, ES File Manager. I was trying to load some files onto the internal SD card using a standard USB connection to my laptop. It connected fine, I used the 'Mount SD Card' option that popped up in the notification section, and it appeard on my laptop fine.
The problem comes that I know the file structure of the External SD Card, Internal SD card, and System sections. So I KNOW I was looking at the Internal SD Card. I copied my files and deleted a txt file that was at the root of the card. Once I properly unmounted the card and checked it using ES Filemanager, none of the changes took place. My new files gone, and the deleted file still there and readable. So I pluged it back in, and the laptop shows the new files are where they should be and the txt file still gone. WTH?!?!
If I load the files the External SD (by removing it and moving them using a seperate SD reader), then transfer the files to the internal using ES File Manager, it works fine. I don't get it.
Okay, used the refresh option in Filemanager, nothing. Rebooted, now I can see the new files, but they have a 0 byte size. ??

Did you 'eject' the disk in Windows before unplugging the cable? Windows has been known to cache writes up and not perform the actual disk open until you eject or stop the device from the icon in the system tray. It caused me to lose some data on a jump drive, so ever since I make sure to force Windows to flush the cached operations by ejecting and waiting for it to tell me it is safe to remove.
The problem is 2.03. USB storage mode was broken with 2.03 and you will probably also notice some installed apps have vanished (another issue with 2.03).
Install 2.04 or the new and awesome 2.20. Both fix the problems. 2.20 is just as fast, but more stable than 2.03.

[Q] External SD Card Access from PC?

Can't access the SD card from the PC....
I'm using MS File Explorer on the PC and am connected by USB cable, and can see folders that appear to be the data on the internal memory of Gtab, but don't see anything for the external SD card.
Can you get to your external SD card from your PC?? Any idea how I can get it to show up? Want to be able to transfer files, but am currently having to keep pulling it out of the Gtab and put it into the SD card slot on the laptop to get access.
I'm running Vegan b3. Thanks in advance!!
Hi,
If you share your pc drive, you can use ES File Explorer, by selecting LAN instead of local.

Fyi, I just tested this (network sharing) and was able to access shares on a Win7 machine and on a WinXP machine. For the latter, I had to use the "guest" user, with no password.

I think he wants to do it the other way around; access the external sdcard from the PC.
One of the glaring goofs by the OEM devs and the firmware. If a microsd is in the slot, we should see two logical drives when the device is mounted.
Incredible, Galaxy S and Tab versions with internal space shows two drives (as they should). Another issue with the G is the microsd unmount function is problematic- at best.

[Q] [q] pictures on the sd card erased after i connected the g-tablet to usb

all my pictures are gone from my sd card right after I disconnected the usb from the g-tablet..no items were found..I then took out the sd card from the tablet and re inserted it and no pixs..why did these happen?I also have the vegan installed on this device..what could it be?any help?thanks..
I havent seen this problem with pics but, the safest thing to do is put an empty file named ".nomedia" in whatever folder you store stuff on sdcard2 or dont put them on sdcard2
HI..so how would I have to do that connect the gtablet to the pc and just transfer all the pixs to the sd2?

The ".nomedia" file tells the tab that there is no media in that directory so it doesnt look. There is a bug when the tab is trying to scan for media it deletes it for some reason. This only happens on the external sdcard. They seem to be safe on the internal sdcard.

ES File Mgr Issue With SD

I'm using ES File Manager to copy files from my computer to a new Note PRO. I can copy files to the internal storage but I can't copy to the external SD. Also, I cannot use ES File Manager to move files from internal storage to the SD. I can use the stock file manager to move files between internal and SD. So the questions are:
1) Can ES File Manager be made to copy files to the SD card?
2) If not, then can the stock file manager access Windows devices to copy files from the computer to the SD?
Likely the Kitkat SD write permission issue. See here:

Yep, that looks like it. Thank you. I'm not ready to root yet to solve the issue. I was not able to tell if this is a bug or by design. It's pretty limiting.
Still trying to figure out if the built-in file manager can be used to copy from a Windows computer to the SD card.
If you connect your tablet to your windows PC you should be able to access internal and external sdcard. They will show up as separate drives. If they don't, install Kies 3 then connect your tablet again.

I was hoping to get this done using wi-fi just for the convenience. It is something I did with previous devices. It always surprised when a basic feature goes away.
If you have an FTP server installed on your PC, My Files app can pull your files that way, then save them to external sdcard
ES File Explorer implemented the workaround within the first few days of KitKat's release. I've been using it to move files in all directions to and from my MicroSD on my Note 3, S5 and NotePro for months without issue. The main thing that doesn't work is renaming.
However, the WiFi transfer to MicroSD has been blocked by Google for security reasons after a series of WiFi-related file security problems. No file manager is capable of this without Root. Same as how you can no longer download files off the internet directly onto the MicroSD.
It's much faster to just pull out the MicroSD and plug it into a PC, anyway. The transfer protocols on Android are a nightmare.

Getting kicked out of pc when trying to transfer files

A71 5G , rooted, never had an issue with transferring files as long as my phone was recognized by my pc. Running win 10, and it just forced an update after which this issue started: I plug in my phone via USB (c to c) to my pc. Pc opens an explorer window with 2 folders, my SD and internal. I can open either of those folders, and every folder down the line, but as soon as I open a folder with files in it I get kicked out explorer window blinks, reopens to the window of choosing SD or internal again. Anyone have this experience or know how to fix it? Thanks in advance..
