Thanks..

There are no custom roms for the S7 USA variants. It's not possible with a locked bootloader. We only have a few modified stock roms. I'm currently rooted and waiting for Xposed so I can finally have some decent performance and battery life.

How are you rooted if the bootloader is locked? ? International version ?

No there was a kernel source leak, so devs made a modified eng bootloader that allows root.

Only with root, stock is fine. If you do want the S7 with roms and kernels just get international because I feel the us is not worth it.

I'm on an unlocked G930T on AT&T on Nougat and really have not found a reason strong enough to go through the rooting process. The only thing that pushes my buttons is that I can't use TB and can't kill some of the old TMO apps completely. But the phone is speedy, gets me through the day without a charge, and has resources available. I've got a theme I like and have most things white on dark which I like better.
So until root becomes extremely easy and reliable, I'm okay with what I've got.
Hi I'm also on an unlocked version of TMobile using ATT. Are you doing anything specific for better battery life? I went to sleep at 100% and woke up with 87%. I have disable those that can be, I'm on Nougat as well and haven't installed too many apps yet.

Not really, just disabled everything I'm not using. And I use the device maintenance to optimize and clear memory every now and then. And I try not to leave the screen on, etc. The usual stuff. I get a day with no issues. I bought some extra wireless fast chargers on eBay and use them if necessary but really feel like I wasted my money because I just set it on the charger at night and it normally goes all day. But I'm not a real heavy phone user. That's part of it.
Sorry I can't be of more help.
Buy Package Disabler Pro and disable all of the bloatware that comes with stock plus any other apps you feel like, my phone is flawless...
The only thing I miss about being rooted is Viper4Android, wish I could have that on stock.

I have no idea how, but it totally does.. It color coordinates system apps, user added apps and even known bloatware apps, making it easy to decide what to stop.
It's designed specifically for Samsung phones, and is the first app I install since I don't have root anymore.
Worth every penny.
Well from TMo you can get s7 edge for $480 or the flat s7 for $560? On the edge, they have fixed the palm rejection at lease on the coral blue.

Well that's weird. I bought it, tried to install it, and it says I'm rooted or there's some other issue and won't install. Obviously I'm not rooted so I don't know what's up.
After reading some of the later reviews there are many others with the same issue. I'm emailing them to see if there is any resolution.
You might want to try your app to see if it's still working correctly.

Totally jinxed me..
I haven't opened the app in months because, why? It just works..
As soon as I open it to check, the license check failed and all my frozen apps reappeared.
Now I can't get it to reactivate, it seems many people are having this problem since the upgrade to Nougat.
SUCKS... Why did I help you hahahahaha.. really though, it sucks. Hopefully they fix it, I'll leave Samsung if not.
I did find this in another thread.. Try it out.

I emailed them the evening I tried to install it and they sent a couple of suggestions. None of them worked so I let them know. They sent another email a couple of hours later and said "try it again" and this time is did work. So they fixed something.
Anyway, thanks. And sorry for jinxing you! But it's not all bad news. I ran your Thanks count up to double digits!
FWIW, I'm a long-time user of BK Package Disabler Pro. For me, it continued working both during the Nougat beta period and since installation of the final version.

Strange. I wonder why it quit working for so many people. They need to fix it for everybody though because their rating on play store is going down quickly.
Anyone on a carrier that already has RCS Universal Profile enabled that can confirm if this is working in Android Messages on the OnePlus 6?
https://www.reddit.com/r/oneplus/comments/aqu22f/ability_to_disable_the_second_sim_slot/
I don't own the phone, but every single Android phone with Google Play Services on a somewhat modern OS (I think either L or M) supports Universal Profile RCS in the Android Messages app. I think Samsung Messages also supports it, but I haven't tried it myself. I think the Google Carrier Services app is also required, but fortunately this is installed by default from the Google Play store.
Only the old, non-Universal Profile versions of RCS were device (and carrier) specific.
Hopefully this is the case with the OnePlus. It would be nice if someone on a carrier that supports it could verify anyways.
Sent from my A0001 using Tapatalk
My carrier (Rogers) supports it but I haven't gotten it to work as of yet.
From what I gathered, OnePlus does not support rcs yet. I am on AT&T which supports their "advanced messaging" (just renaming rcs), but so far it only looks like select Samsung and LG phones support it. Not only does the carrier and the messaging app need to support rcs, so does the manufacturer...and all three have to be true on the recipients end as well, otherwise you just send an SMS.
I am also curious as to weather a custom ROM can add rcs support or is it something only the manufacturer can do?

Advanced messaging is a proprietary version of RCS from what I understand RCS UP is part of the latest version of Android and Android Messages. At&t had yet to say much about their support for RCS UP.

I'm on Telia with OnePlus 6 and RCS doesn't work.
I've even been in contact with Telia and had then deactivate RCS on their end, re-entered via Android Messages (successfully) and it still doesn't work.
An old Galaxy S5 was the exact same way, which leads me to believe the list above from AT&T is at least somewhat representative.
My old Nexus 5 was fine, but that's bad on the G3 I believe so that makes sense.

RCS Universal works in Android Messages on my OnePlus 3, so I would assume it works on the OnePlus 6 too. I'm running ResurrectionRemix though (based on LOS). I can check with OOS when my OnePlus 6 arrives in the next few days. My SIM card at least supports it for sure (tested myself with the OnePlus 3).

I have a OnePlus 3 also and it does not work for me. I have tried everything. I am on Rogers and they definitely support it here. Only difference is I am not on a custom ROM. I am using the latest official beta build. Are you happy with ResurrectionRemix?
If it can be solved by changing the ROM than I may be tempted to finally root this phone. This is the first phone I have had, that I did not bother to root.
I am going to see if RCS is working on my wife's Xiaomi Redmi Note 5.

Well that indeed points towards lacking RCS support in OOS, which would be a shame.
I am very happy with RR! Check out the official thread on the OnePlus 3 forum, a user there maintains a up-to-date bug list after every new build. If there is nothing in there that bothers you (all minor issues for me, I actually never came across any of them in daily use), go for it! I could not recommend RR more.
Once RR gets released for the 1+6 I will be flashing it. Just have to wait for proper notch support and an official LOS release. Until then I'll miss a lot of RR features dearly in OOS.

That's good to know. I used to use RR on my Nexus 5 and was very happy with it. Perhaps the best ROM I tried. The Nexus was super easy to root as I used a rooting tool that someone had made. Just plug and play. I researched rooting the OP3 when I first got it and it seemed to complicated to bother at the time as I was happy with the beta builds. Now that I am lacking RCS it kinda pisses me off. Why wouldn't 1+ add support. Google claims all phones past KitKit are supposed to support it. I think the fact that all OnePlus phones don't point to a bug in their software.
Do you know of any simple plug and play tools for unlocking and rooting the OP3 that I could try. Phone's getting laggy anyways and it could use a clean slate.

Let's keep the thread clean from OT from another device. I'll drop you a PM later when I get home.
Has anyone by now managed to get RCS working with Android Messages on OOS? I do see the Advanced Chat features options in settings, but when I try to enable it, it just loads forever. On my OnePlus 3 with a custom ROM (LOS based) this process takes around 20 seconds and then RCS works. Waiting didn't help on my OnePlus 6 with OOS though, still not enabled after hours.
If you are seeing the advanced chat features options that’s a great sign, contact your carrier and ask them to reset your RCS profile (if they are on universal profile this is something they do through Google) once that’s done reboot your phone and see if it works.

Yes. Latest OOS. I'm rooted with Magisk and am running xXx ROM, but I doubt this makes a difference as I saw the Advanced Chat features setting before flashing xXx.
So can confirm RCS works with Telekom.de (Germany) and the OnePlus 6 on OOS ?

That's where you're wrong. OOS does not stop Android Messages from (successfully) activating RCS, everything is seemingly fine.
You just aren't able to actually send or receive RCS messages.
I have the settings, I get the activation notification you attached a photo of, I get a successfull activation screen, my carrier sees me activated.
You wouldn't be able to tell I don't have RCS functionality, everything points to it working. However it doesn't.
I've one through every possible solution to my lacking RCS on my (stock) OnePlus 6. I've reset Android Messages completely, I've had my carrier (Telia) deactivate RCS on my number/SIM. I've reset Android Messages once again, rebooted, checked data settings. Everything. I've even switched SIM-cards (and have had the whole thing rest afterwards, yes.)
OOS for some reason hasn't flipped the RCS switch, like someone else mentioned.
The same happened on a Galaxy S5 with stock M for what it's worth. It seems to be a "thing".
Here's a checklist for people who feel like weighing in on OnePlus 6 having RCS:
* Are you on the STOCK ROM?
* Are you actually on a OnePlus 6?
* Do you not have Magisk etc installed?
If no to any of the above, your experience is not relevant in this case.
RCS works on custom ROMs, it doesn't on stock ROM. None of us have been able to get it to work.
I kind of want to root my 7 Pro, since I really miss Substratum.
I also don't care about Widevine, but are there any more disadvantages with rooting the 7 Pro?
Only ones I can think of is you can't use the Netflix app and you need to login to Snapchat before you root
You can use Netflix by hiding it in Magisk but videos will play only in 480p.

Netflix works perfectly for me and never had an issue and I've rooted every phone I've had since owning a smartphone back in 2010. If you open the play store and go to settings, scroll down to the bottom and see if your device is certified or uncertified. If uncertified you need to hide root for all Google apps. I do Google pay, play, services the Google app I have it all and reboot and your device should show as certified.
As far as the op and root... I wouldn't own a phone if could not root. It's my phone, I want to do with it what I want to. If not that's what iPhones are for. Locked down junk that owners are told what they can do it not do with the phones they own.
I do not root.
I plan on rooting purely for tether hiding as my phone is my internet on the road. Does anybody know what happens with updates on rooted op7p?
why isn't this a poll?
I rooted. For Google sans. Kernels can give even better battery life. also renovate gives some handy options like, centre clock, nav bar height. High brightness mod.
Not forgetting substratum if you fancy some more theming

It's not because you can flash a phone that it's what they created expected for it. Why bother developping their OS and launcher if they made for people to remove both as soon as they get it ? They should just sell naked hardware with a tutorial to flash a rom.
I normally waited until phone stopped getting official support to root and try out custom rom. That could be one to three years depending on the phone.

Actually they do encourage people to root and develop for it. OnePlus takes things that the development community adds to their OOS base and incorporates stable thing they feel enhances their OS. It's also the reason they are one of the very few phones that unlocking and rooting does not count your warranty.
OOS is the first and only OEM skin/OS that I have never replaced with a custom ROM. My last custom ROM was Pure Nexus with the Nexus 6P. The OnePlus 5, 6 and now the 7pro all were tied with stock ROM, rooted, TWRP and custom kennel (ex kerenel)
OnePlus is the inherit unofficial successor to the Nexus line on XDA! Unlock the boot and root... Cheers
I would root my phone If I had some tutorial how to use Netflix in HD. OnePlus 7 pro's best feature is a screen. I bought it to use Netflix and do not want to spoil the pleasure of using it in 480p.
Another root reason for me would be to change font color globally from white to black. I dream of phone theme where all is red and font is black
Still not sure should I do it or not....

How do you do that? Can you pm me or something? Thanks.
Hey everyone
I just heard about Huawei been a bit more relaxed about rooting their Mate 30 Pro.
At First I was like that is AWESOME, the idea of been able to use the Mate 30 Pro with pixel experience (my favourite custom Rom) sounds amazing.... best Pixel stock experience on a beast like Mate 30 would be epic.
Then I found a strange taste in my mouth. There would still be some draw backs. Thought I would list some concerns and people could answer some of those concerns.
(Note....each concern/question has a solution or comment I think about the issue.....this is just my view and not to be taken as the only view)
1. Lack of full potential from cameras on the back?
I know some custom ROM camera apps are pretty good l, but to really experience the best from the camera's you would have to have some access to l the Mate 30 Pro stock camera app package to allow.
A thought I had is that Huawei could make a APK that's a bit like Goodlock and this app would allow you to download the stock camera app and other stock apps that people may use on their Huawei devices.
2. LTE and 5G??
I can remember using my Samsung S7E with Pixel Experience but one of the draw backs was that I could get 4G but I didn't get the extra features like LTE, wifi calling, HD call quality ect. If this remained the case then this would be a major draw back to a 2019 flagship device.
Maybe Huawei could needed coding and solutions directly to custom Rom developers....or allow then to be a open source so every ROM devloper had access these features.
3. General Custom ROM glitches and bugs
We are all used to our ROMs having strange behaviours every now and ad gain but do we want these bugs on our £800+ smartphone that we use eveqersryday.
This solution seems obvious Huawei need to work closely with custom Rom developers and helping them Iron these issues out.
4. Some apps dont work on custom Roms no matter what.
Back to my S7e I was able to almost all of the apps on my phone thanks to magisk manager but some apps still had issues. My samsung gear app would pair with my gearfit 2 no matter what. It downloaded but it would not find any devices. I found a fix but that caused my Google to stop working, so had to put it back. This happened with other apps as well.
The only solution I can think of is app developers would have to made aware that mate 30 users could be using rooted devices with Huawei's blessing and ensure there apps work on rooted versions of the phone.
5. Is Warranty still safe.
If Huawei are actually cool with us rooting our P30 Pro then they need to put their money where their mouth is and allow this activity with their manufactures warranty, private insurance companies need to follow suit as well.
Huawei could give us manufactures warranty but with the condition that if possible we have to flash the stock firmware of the device before sending it out.
That's it....that's just s few of my thoughts and possible solutions and would love to hear what you guys think and if you have any worries or questions of your own? Maybe if we make enough noise Huawei will notice us and take our ideas and answer our questions themselves.
(Make it easier....put which number comment your answering to so we all have a better idea what's going on)
Keep it friendly guys remember these are mine and others thoughts.... none of us are implying that these thoughts are right.
By the way... I am a Note 9 user but I am really excited of the potential of Huawei been the ultimate custom ROM brand.
Official Pixel Experience is pretty much nill on Huawei Devices. I see the Honor 10 has
again been dropped.
When the Ban is lifted Huawei will lock the bootloader again no doubt.
they have changed their mind, they will not unlock the BL for the Mate 30.
the only place this device will sell well is China, they are screwed pretty much everywhere else.
I just bought one in shanghai yesterday. Its a very neat and fast phone. especially the 40w charging is cool. you can watch percentages go up...
I asked for the 5G version but i was told its not availbale and should come November. I was wondering though if its already built in and just needs a software patch... like back then when Nvidia was reducing performace on Graphic cards by disabling shaders by firmware...

I would say most likely it works, as the China version covers pretty much all the network.
You could find out the specs from their website and check if the LTE bands covers T-Mobiles. It works on Bell's network though.

I am in TX, I got Mate 30 Pro from China, and it works with T-mobile showing "4G" icon. The speed test result is like to my old iPhone 6.
By the way, I have 2 sim card, one is China Union (works on AT&T's network) which support VoLTE, the other is T-Mobile which does not.

Thank you I think I'm convinced
I was trying to find a thread about the bootloader being unlocked on this phone and couldn't find one. I came across this video on YouTube where this guy turns on his phone and says his phone unlocked. He doesn't say how he did it but I'm thinking someone might want to contact him and ask him how he did it. About 2 minutes in he shows this

Most likely a review unit like others have had, release software dosnt have OEM unlock option in developers, if something comes of the int. Version we may be able to get rebranding but has yet to be seen
He commented about it being a devkit under the comment by Markus Haier here: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5pxYxPSbl_s and said he was going to make a video on it but still nothing.
@o012 Well my P30-Pro (VOG-L09) has OEM unlocking under developer options but haven't tried unlocking.
All works in canada except certain banking apps google backup netflix google pay androis assistant needs to be rebooted everytime. Rest all works fine including google photo backup
Has anyone installed a custom ROM and TWRP to it yet.
Could a Gapps package help the issues? Gapps include all the google services and system setting to keep google stable and updating.
Think Gapps could be installed via the phones built in bootloader??.
tl;dr
Is rooting the tmo OP8 to install stable oxygen 11 to get shelf feature and remove tmo crap on phone worth it? Or does the Oxygenos 11 fix that too.
----------------------------------------------------------------
So TMobile has been blocking features it seems, like the Shelf in the update that came out this summer, from their model of the device, and the tmobile branded crap like on Google feed panel just makes me want to scream (OK, it's not that bad, but an $800 phone shouldn't come with anything I can't get rid of, much less be missing official features).
So my question is, would rooting the tmobile variant of the OP8 and installing a different version of the OxygenOS be a solution to this? They also blocked the ability to choose a local update to do the OxygenOS 11 update that came out recently, so I'm at a loss what to do.
Admittedly I haven't researched rooting this device yet as I didn't think I'd need to as I didn't need to root my 5T so not sure what the process is or what's available but I'm frustrated enough to start if it's gonna get me my damn shelf and get rid of the tmobile bull****. Have rooted a couple devices before but the research and hassle are a lot for just the shelf update, especially if that gets fixed when they FINALLY drop the update for us tmo customers.
I'm running global oxygen 11 on my rooted tmobile oneplus 8.bi haven't used t mobiles rom since **** may or even before. There has been a few bugs through out the journey but thats expected. It's no where near as many issues as when the original oneplus one came out. Lol I feel like I was constantly working on that one.

Do you have the shelf and stuff? How irritating is the rooting process for the device? Last device I did was a cheap Samsung.
Shelf? I'm not sure what you mean. It's extremely easy to root. I mean like I can do it without even knowing I'm on this planet anymore. Lol

Shelf was a feature they got rid of then brought back, but apparently the tmobile version of the phone has it removed from the home screen settings. Supposed to be an option when you swipe down your notification bar to have the oneplus shelf there under your quick tiles, has a memo pad, ability to place widgets inside it, etc. But it's completely missing only from tmo op8's from the little I could find googling the problem.

The problem I'm worried about is I am currently up to date, a version above the update that included shelf, so I'm not sure if it'll even work but I'll give it a shot. Does it matter if I get the newest version, 5.0 something, if I'm not updated to Android 11 yet? Cuz that hasn't happened yet either, no idea when it's gonna get pushed OTA.

Just updated it to the version 5. 0 that said it worked on Android 10. No mention of the shelf feature in home screen settings. Not sure what I'm doing wrong, am I just blind?

Yeah, my swipe down to access is a toggle on or off and just says notifications and settings, that's the problem, I don't get that menu with the option to turn shelf on and off. Is there a way I can share a screenshot? Haven't had to do that on here before.

If you're using XDA Labs, when you reply to something, the paperclip icon in the bottom left let's you share attachments. Here's the version of my OnePlus Launcher. As long as it doesn't target A11, it should install fine.

It seems that the version I'm using only targets Android 11. Although I do remember having the option in OnePlus Launcher when I was still on A10. You might have to search APKMirror and try versions that work with A10 until you find one that works, sadly. Or update to OOS 11 lol. Sorry I wasn't much help.

It's fine, it's specifically because I'm using a tmobile version but idk how that's messing things up when I'm downloading the newest version, newer than is on the play store, and it still doesn't show the option I'm betting it's intentional or I'm missing something.
