[Completed] Pictures / photos using phone camera are automatically deleted after a while - XDA Assist

Hi guys,
I need your help. Although, i am suspecting a virus / malware, i still need confirmation on this.
I am using huawei p8 (marshmallow).
First, i noticed that i was not able to delete a certain folder inside my movies folder. The folder contains a sample video, a full movie in mkv file and an srt file.
I thought it is OK since I still got plenty of unused space in my sd card.
But later, i found out that the photos i got using huawei's stock camera app are corrupted then later on automatically deleted.
Im not really sure if these problems are connected but i hope you guys can help me on this.
Thanks a lot.

Hi !
That`s indeed a strange behaviour
Try to uninstall any tweaking / cleaning / battery saving application from your phone , these have a tendency to suggest apps or websites from where you can easily get malware
You can tell us which apps as above you use
A antimalware application like Bitdefender may help
Good luck !

Thanks xanthrax
Hi,
Just installed bitdefender and it found a trojan in my sdcard. That is weird since I also tried to do that using lookout anti virus but it found nothing.
I guess bitdefender is better than lookout.
I'll just try to observe my phones behaviour for now. I'll keep you posted.

[Q] Mediaserver trouble have to be solved now!

Hello, everyone!
Mediaserver process drains the battery hard and that's a big problem!
On any ROMs, any Android versions.
Some users never knew that trouble, but some are in that and it's annoying at all.
There's a lot of tips how to fix it, someone says done, someone's crying.
So, I start that topic to make clear the problem and generally solve it!
What I know about the trouble:
Mediaserver drains the battery when apps are using media files.
Mediaserver is necessary process for Android.
If you kill the process, it will start at the same moment.
if you delete or rename /system/bin/mediaserver and kill the process, your device will reboot and stop on the bootloader
How did I tried to solve it:
Deleted all the broken mp3 s by mp3 Cheker
Puted .nomedia file to the main folder of sd card and external card, also personality to media folders
Installed PowerAMP, Quick Pic, MX player - apps which use their own library of media files.
Deleted MediaStorage by Titanium Backup (nothing changed, only got problems with gPlay)
Nothing helps.
Doesn anyone have any idea what else can fix that?
no ideas? Only myself ibterested in it?
I thought, xda forum users are interesting in solving problems, improving mobile world, but I surprised that noone are in this topic.

[Q] android virus?

Hello!
Today i was browsing the web and suddenly an file got downloaded!
The file file named dlsecureTb_1.0.1.5.exe
What should i do ? Factory reset or dont worry?
My phone is a Nexus 5
Thanx
Those are spam programs, they happen when you're on PC as well. Its quite annoying, just delete the file using a file explorer and you should be fine.
Honestly with all the malware claims and such, its actually really hard to get viruses. You can get apps that see what you do (But Google pulls them off the Play Store) but yeah, you don't really need to be worried about viruses my friend.
Have a nice day
I found here a good solution for android virus removal, step by step guide http://www.mobilepoint.us/android-virus-removal-final-solution

Big bug Huawei Mate 9 : warning for all

Good evening
Best wishes to you all
Sorry for my Bad english but I will try to do my best to explain the incredible bug encountered and warn everyone about my problem hoping it will avoid you the same disaster
I hope you can help me even if I do not believe it anymore...
Since I was caught by the time I carried out the daily transfer (by car, in the night, eating ....) of my photos / videos between my old phone (galaxy note 3) and my new Huawei mate 9 and this in several stages over several days via bluetooth.
Since everything worked perfectly because I checked day after day that I had the same number of files, I opened the videos transferred to the mate 9 and everything was there.
But one day I open the files transferred on the mate 9 and there everything disappeared except the directory tree: I mean that the folder transfered are there with their original names but all the content have been deleted and the folders transfered are well there but are all empty.
Of course like an idiot i have deleted the original content from my note 3 as I checked a successful transfer: result I have so far lost a major number of pro and family photos and video due to some sort of bug Of the mate 9.
I tried all the apps of recovery possible on the Google store or on Windows (easus, dr fone ....) but nothing does they do not find anything (and I'm in development mode with debug USB activated after that i have pressed 9 times on the phone model)
I know that I proceeded as an adventurer without saving before doing this damned transfer.
But do you think that there is a hope that I can manage to find by some means those files that have disappeared miraculously but their folders are still there but empty.
Thank you for your suggestions
Small precision in case: I made these transfers on the session of my second user account of my mate 9 and not the master account originally created during the first start of the phone.
I noticed that these additional user accounts are attractive at first but in fact there are too many limitations: only the master account can send MMS for example in no case the additional accounts even with all the permissions granted, there are Other limitations too ... I contacted Huawei who confirmed these limitations for security reasons according to them.
Similarly one can delete at any time the additional user accounts but if you want to delete the main account it is absolutely necessary to reset the phone and it is impossible to reverse one of the secondary accounts into master account, you will have to reset and recreate as desired.
The more absurd for me is the inability to transfer files present on the internal memory between sessions of user accounts, we can only access the files of our current session even when we are into in the session of the master account we can't access the files of one of our others account.
You dont have your stuff backing up to one of the many available clouds?
amazon, google, dropbox, etc.
I would have mentioned easus but looks like you tried. I feel bad for you but take it as a learning lesson, backup important stuff. Get you a hdd, cloud backup and computer backup minimum. Never solely rely on a cell phone.
Huawei is big on security. Sometimes they get it right but if your 2nd user account was someone you didnt want to access your information you would appreciate the added security. I have never used guest accounts or anything but I remember my 2 year old was playing with my phone as she always do, and few minutes later she was in twrp attempting to delete everything. This was a 128gb nexus 6p filled to the rim with important information.
any twrp backups from previous phones?
Don't call it a bug because It isn't.
And also there are easier and much faster ways to transfer files out there.
Sent from my MHA-L29 using XDA-Developers Legacy app

Btw, I see you just joined, so Welcome to XDA!
Hello... about my problem...
I have contacted Huawei and I was surprised that they seemed almost to know the problem : they told me "you had a file corruption" at our stage we can not do anything you need to contact [email protected] with the following ticket number that we will create together ".
I wrote 3 days ago ... Still no answers ...
We will see ... But given the bad comments found on the net about the Huawei support I have no illusions ...
Last episode and season finale of my bad experience
I had the Huawei support by phone finally... They admit that there must be a file corruption "bug" on the mate 9 and they propose me to send the phone to a technician to try to do something without any guarantee to succeed and of course without lending of a phone replacement during this period.
If I can go back I will never buy this phone 1stly for the bug encountered but seeing the support recognising that it can be a real bug from the phone and not lending a phone... For a 700€ phone the support and results are very bad in the end.
Excepted this bug the mate 9 has many limitations and bad cons that I will explain in a video in a few days to describe why if I could I won't buy the mate 9 again
have you checked if the files are still taking a space inside the storage? or it is all free?
there is a lot of viruses out there that could have renamed or hide your original folders

Hi Michel
It is exactly what I think and after discussing about this the Huawei technical phone operator told me that it can be the files corrupted by the bug : yes I am sure that the actual storage is higher than it must be, at least 8-10 Go more...And that's why they propose me to send it to their technical support but without any guarantee to succeed and with no phone to lend during this period.
I hope that soon there will be a root 100% secure of this phone to do a full recovery deeper as possible but for the moment I don't know how to access this extra storage used that I can found exploring the phone in all the account users sessions or with hi suite or others recovery software (Dr fone, easus...) and I have enabled the option show hidden files and folders into ES explorer but no results
Hope you learned a valuable lesson.
Backup your data. Anything can happen. Bug. Stolen. Lost. Water damage.
I do have sympathy but very little.

phone is erasing my files

I noticed strange behaviour few days ago. In internal storage I creeated folder Apk where I am storing some downloaded apps for offline instalations in case I need them again. But every little apps are missing. For example today morning I have 47 apk files and right now there are only 7. Also I noticed that folder named RecycleBinHW is increasing so I assume that files are moved there somehow??? Before this phone owned Samsung phones for last 6 years and never experienced such issues. How to stop this weird action of my phone and did anybody else have same problem?

Have you tried resetting the phone, to see if it makes a difference? Maybe worth getting a USB C pen to save APK's to? I know that Huawei have Petal Search which searches for all the APK's you need. Could save sometime?
I already have those apk files stored on ext. USB but I want to find how this could be possible... I am testing now - was created new folder with different name and put same files inside... I don't have installed any security app which can detect such apk files as potencialy unsafe...
Change settings in optimizer app. It’s set by default to auto clean.
Many thanks! Yes, optimizer was doing mess, I found and recovered files and disabled cleaning for future. I am using SD Maid for such purposes. this Optimizer is new for me because it is my first Huawei phone.
Hi, today phone again erased most of apk files from my folder. Before I disabled auto clean, I don't know how this reactivated again. Now, I don't know how to recover files, I can not find them anymore, it seems that this Optmizer app change settings in latest update or something. I am really pissed of with this app... Need any help!
I am still having this problem and it seems that other Huawei users have same issues: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-20-pro/help/mate-20-pro-delete-apps-apk-backup-t3916434
yeah same here.. i zip them and stay there.. only solution i ve thought
I never experienced such issue with any device in last 10 years since I am using Android phones. It is really makes me crazy. In Optimizer I disabled everything I could. This morning I downloaded few apk files and I just found that all gone from my folder... Unbelivable that I can not control my own phone...
Hello mates, same problem with my P30 and Optimizer app. It randomly erases some files that are recognized as junk but they aren't junk and not just apk files. I read that solution to remove Optimizer with ADB isn't the smartest idea. I disabled Optimizer settings to do "Auto-clean junk files". Is is enough or I could do something else?

Hacked Galaxy S10e

Hi Everyone
I'm assume my phone been hacked or cloned I'm not sure what's the right word for it but I need help to find out If I'm right or I'm just being paranoid.
Galaxy S10e SM-GF970F
Phone status Official
One UI version 3.0
Android version 11
I find in my battery usage my secure folder using 381 MB of data what I hardly use, , 324 MB Foreground, 57 MB background.
In the secure folder checking wi-fi data usage , on the bottom has "something" named 15010286 what used 5,41 kb data in the past week..
Some of my setting are changing, like I had swithed off the option to show up the letter or number when I typing passwords etc.
When I checking battery usage in settings, I scrolling down and after couple seconds its jump up the top again.
My question would be: any program what would find the program what the intruder used?
How can be sure if Im hacked or how can I clean my phone??
Thanks
Sounds less like a hacker and more like just a buggy phone xD. This behaviour is in fact strange but I would doubt that this is a hacker. Maybe you've downloaded some cracked apks from the internet and accidentally downloaded malware.
Maybe this isn't the best way but try this:
Go to device care, device security (or something similar) and scan your phone. If there is an obvious malware the scan will detect it. if not, I cannot help you.
Personally I store everything on my sd card so I would just do a factory reset. Idk about you.
Thanks for the reply.
I have SOPHOS "antieverything" on my phone, the only app what didn't come from google play was the latest Vanced.
Device care/device security shows no malware.
I have 100 GB data on my phone, my SD card encrypted, same as my phone. Any advice what is the easiest way to save all those pictures and videos before I factory reset my phone? Preferably direct to an USB as most likely my PC and home network hacked too.
Thanks

just connect your device to PC and do MTP connection and transfer all files (pictures, videos, music, hentai folder .. etc) to PC
fast and efficient
Thanks for that.
I can save my stuff but still won't know if I been hacked or not??
